I just got reminded about one of the funniest bits of lore from the Assassin's Creed games. Canonically, they confirm the real world conspiracy theory that the dead guy in Hitler's bunker at the end of WWII isn't Hitler, but actually his body double to be true in the game world. However, after killing his double, Hitler walks out of the bunker to escape and is immediately killed by an Assassin. Like he gets about 200 feet into his plan to fake his death and escape capture before getting stabbed in the neck and dying.
The early games loved conspiracy theories so much that you expect them to play this straight and have Hitler get away, but no. He tries. He dies.

i understand that the modern day segments are the thing that binds the assassin’s creed games together and that they’re essential to the story. but consider. they suck dick and balls.
#the most interesting it gets is with shbject 16’s conspiracy board and like that *is* interesting. but it’s also like. not ever commented on#in ac2 actively. and a lot of the actual conspiracy bits seem kind of like throwing shit at the wall to see what sticks?#this is not unsalvageable okay but the fact that it’s 1) by necessity the periphery of the actual interesting game we want to play and 2)#full of the blandest fucking guys imaginable not doing anything ever is like. why are we doing this.#the *concept*. of a centuries old conspiracy battle between the assassins and templars? fascinating! endless potential for how that’s gone!#the execution? a bit shite ain’t it.#the game’s strongest connective tissue is in the codexes and the tombs. like *that’s* interesting!#the way that we’re already in a historical setting but ezio himself is uncovering what’s history to him! these figures who are basically#myths! but they were real! and then that leaves a room to go well. if they were real. like ezio is.#then when ezio dies and becomes history he will be a myth too. but we *know* him!! we could know them!! it’s in knowing him that the tragedy#of history is cemented. that he is already a myth even as we play through his story.#but like these are not themes i think the game has picked up on existing or gives a shit about so. fuck it i guess.#this story happened a long time ago in a country far far away. you can’t save ezio’s family. because he never did.#but you can avenge them. only. you know his quest for vengeance for justice. however it might have tipped the scales to a better world for#a time? it didn’t change things forever. the war outlived him. it outlived his ancestors.#you know?

Os Cavaleiros Templários estiveram por trás da criação do Sistema Bancário Internacional, emprestando dinheiro às Casas Reais e deixando-as reféns e à mercê de sua chantagem.
Além de possuir riquezas (ainda hoje procuradas) e uma enorme quantidade de terras na Europa, a Ordem dos Templários possuía uma enorme esquadra. Os cavaleiros, além de temidos guerreiros em terra, eram também exímios navegadores e utilizavam sua frota para deslocamentos e negócios com várias nações.
Segundo alguns historiadores, os cavaleiros foram para a Escócia, Suíça, Portugal e até mais além usando seus navios. Muitos deles mudaram seus nomes e se instalaram em países diferentes para evitar uma perseguição do Rei e da Igreja.
Um dado interessante relativo aos cavaleiros que se refugiaram na Suíça, é que antes dessa época não há registros da existência do sistema bancário naquele país. Como é sabido, no auge de sua formação, os cavaleiros da Ordem desenvolveram um sistema de empréstimos, linhas de crédito e depósitos de riquezas que na sua época já se assemelhava bastante aos bancos de hoje. Provavelmente foram os cavaleiros que se refugiaram na Suíça que implantaram o sistema bancário que até hoje é a principal atividade do país.

I thought the reason AC:Unity's storyline made no sense was because I'm playing the 8th or whatever game in a series with no context of what happened before, but then the MC drops a "Why won't they let me go after antagonist X who killed my girlfriend's dad" and Like I didn't know antagonist X killed that man. Why are you giving me this information as exposition dialogue like I should know that? I thought discovering who killed him would be a major plot line??? They set it up like it was one!

Is your Bluetooth speaker monitoring you? Does anyone understand how these speakers function? The electronics and software involved are all capable of it. So where’s the intention?
I had a look at Anker, one of Amazon’s premier BT speakers. Their English arm appears to be solely owned by one private individual of Chinese nationality, although most of the money appears to go through Malta…
Any electronics wizards interested in reverse engineering one of these speakers and demonstrating that I’m correct about their capabilities? Any private investigators and forensic accountants interested in profiling the owners?
My Apple iPhone Tips app just suggested that I update my legacy contact so I know I’m onto something…
This comes off the back of my new found understanding that cyber (in)security is rife and our devices are being used to broadcast our lives as some kind of underground entertainment for the elite.
But surely Apple, Google, Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure would protect their customers and blow the whistle on these bad actors! Think again. Apple makes it very clear in their terms and conditions that they will not get involved in anything to do with data security and or cyber crime.
In fact, beyond the data protection laws they have to comply with, all of which are about 20 years behind the reality of what is going on, their legal teams have clearly advised them that telling their customers they’ve been hacked is the same as admitting liability.
Welcome to one of the biggest cover ups of the 21st Century and prepare yourself for the biggest scandal to hit the news since Watergate (in 10 years time when all the main players have disappeared with the money).
Paranoid, psychotic and dangerous to know? Yes. They are.
