dai could stand to lean further into it but the little things showing how little privacy the inquisitor gets from the inquisition are sooo good. the iron bull walk-in scene kind of implies not knocking is normal procedure for the advisors. every letter the inquisitor gets goes through the advisors first. everywhere the inquisitor goes there are scouts and soldiers around them. the last two times they had sure privacy were either a) before they spent three days unconscious with other people caring for their body and then woke up surrounded by soldiers or b) when they were freezing to death in a blizzard. they are neverrrr for certain alone its awesome

varric making carver a grey warden in the exaggerated intro is such a choice if he did not turn out to be one. assuming that represents the version of the story he usually tells. like the only thing less normal than writing and publishing worldwide an au where your friend’s lame templar brother was actually a cool grey warden is writing and publishing worldwide an au where your friend’s brother who died of the blight was actually a cool grey warden.

Fandom spaces have GOT to stop finding out about concept art & saying they were supposed to have x or y. That’s not how concept art works, there isn’t a secret better show they decided to hide from you for no reason

sparing loghain is so comical like. the 20-something can just say no we're not killing the old guy i wanna keep him and you DO. the hof isn't even old enough to rent a car and this middle-aged man pledges his undying loyalty to them bc they are now his sole reason for living. what a character.

im gonna start talking about any dragon age character like people talk about vivienne.
i think varric is an interesting character, even if i dont support being a crime lord
i dont agree with her views on wanting to kill every mage in the circle for being cowards, but i do like morrigan
i hate her pro-religious politics, but leliana is cool
i don´t like dorian's using the dead to fight but i respect who he is

in dragon age origins you can sell a child’s soul to a demon in exchange for the love of one of your companions which will give you a +20 approval bump with them, an amount of approval which you can also get in dragon age origins by giving the companion 4 sugar cakes. it just doesn’t seem like a good deal.

“Men and women from every race; warriors and mages, barbarians and kings… the Grey Wardens sacrificed everything to stem the tide of darkness… and prevailed.”
Made a little DAO tribute to pay homage to my favourite game ✨

you ever think about how when anders asks what malcolm was like literally all of hawke's answers implied some level of emotional distance between them.

One of the things that annoys me about inquisition is that they kinda retconned the general attitude to spirits to make Solas the only person who has a reasonable attitude towards them
And sure southern thedas wasn’t exactly buddying up with spirits, but Wynne knew that there were benevolent or just non malicious spirits, and considered Faith a friend long before it resurrected her.
Justice is a spirit and everyone’s relatively chill with him hanging around in awakening. The main problem people have is the fact that he’s possessing Kristoffs actively decaying corpse, but people acknowledge him as something different to hostile “demons”, and his personhood isnt really questioned by the narrative in awakening, nor is his ability to befriend the other characters. Even Kristoffs wife comes to terms with the situation. In da2 the issue is mostly anders supposed “corruption” of justice into vengeance, but he’s still considered Anders’ friend
In asunder, Rhys is a spirit magician (a class that is available in origins) and the book describes how it’s fairly normal for mages to work with benevolent spirits. Mages in CIRCLES. Mages in THE WHITE SPIRE. He even summons wisps. The tension with Cole is that Rhys is convinced by the lord seeker that Cole is a demon who is possessing him and forcing him to commit murders, not that he’s a spirit rather than a physical person.
And then in Inquisition we’ve got Vivienne and Cassandra (a grand enchanter and a high ranking seeker, so highly educated in these matters) calling Cole a demon and acting confused and belligerent about the concept of a benevolent spirit, the mages in Solas’ personal quest seeming to be completely unaware of the existence of benevolent spirits, and most of the inquisitors dialogue options acting like the idea of spirits being people is some ridiculous idea when that was a fairly normal attitude in the media before inquisition. Even if the inquisitor is open to the concept, that’s treated as if it’s an unusual point of view for them to take when that would have been fairly normal in all the previous media.
Like the attitude towards spirits in southern thedas wasn’t great, but it’s not the same belligerently stupid attitude that inquisition makes everyone except Solas have. Spirits were acknowledged as non hostile beings that were usually considered people. Being friends with one was acceptable, even for a circle mage. The attitude that’s presented as the norm in inquisition is almost comical

The thing that kills me about Anders being weird about your LI in act 3 is that it's just been so long now. You've been either dating or weirdly not-dating for like 4 years now. And still he's hating.
