i just can't get over how s6 made no sense like im so mad
starting w/ nyxly bc wth??? kara is such an empathic person, she has a huge heart but in the end they just sent her back to the phantom zone w/ lex???? i mean,, nyxly definitely was a good person, she was just so hurt and she deserved a second chance,,, kara and nyxly feeling the other emotions definitely hinted that yeah redemption arc but no they just threw it all away
and don't even get me started on lena. yk i started watching this show bc i love Katie Mcgrath, and one thing about her is that she really understand her characters and in an interview she said smth like: not everyone is a superhero and that's where lena stands, doing what she thinks is right being surrounded by superheros,,, w/ wtv knowledge she has she's just doing the best she can. and w/ s6 being about ppl empowering themselves bc they don't need superheros to protect them,, the character that illustrated this the best was just given powers (눈‸눈) like be so fr pls she didn't need that,, and ik someone said that its to give lena a queer narrative and give supercorp queer subtext but it still doesn't make any sense for her character????
yk what let's talk about supercorp while we're at it. kara and lena did not spend 3 seasons devouring each other w/ their eyes and then break up arc (s5) for wtv is happening on s6. i am genuinely mad over this bc s5 gave us perfect context for a romance,, like kara spent 3y lying to her best friend and then they have this huge fight abt it and right when they make up kara ends up alone in a terrifying place. it's so freaking easy for romance to bloom here ????? like i honestly think that supercorp should've been the core of s6 bc even as friends kara and lena are each other's most important person and they both went through pretty traumatic events and i think they should've been supporting each other on a much deeper level idk im just so mad

Grand Splendid Via Flickr: Our next stop on day 4 was a visit to BA's amazing bookstore, El Ateneo Grand Splendid. Here is 2 of 6 bookstore photos. Buenos Aires is among the cities with the highest number of bookstores per person in the world, with more than 700 brick-and-mortar establishments. This historic, palatial theater is now one of the world’s finest bookstores. In 2019, it was named the "world's most beautiful bookstore" by National Geographic. Situated on Santa Fe Avenue in Recoleta, the building was designed by architects Peró and Torres Armengol for impresario Max Glücksmann (1875-1946), and opened as a theatre called Teatro Gran Splendid in May 1919. In 1929, the theater underwent its first transformation to become a cinema, with the distinction of being the first in Buenos Aires to show sound film. February 2000 the ornate former theatre was leased by Grupo Ilhsa, renovated and converted into a book and music shop. Chairs are provided throughout the building, including the still-intact theatre loges, where customers can dip into books before purchase. There is a café in what was once the stage. The ceiling, the ornate carvings, the crimson stage curtains, the auditorium lighting and many architectural details remain. Despite the changes, the building still retains the feeling of the grand theatre it once was. With each incarnation since its inception in 1919—first as a performing arts theatre, then as a cinema, and now a bookstore—The Grand Splendid has proven itself befitting of its majestic title. Architect Fernando Manzone oversaw the building’s most recent conversion into the El Ateneo bookstore and music shop. . Permission to use Photo: . 21 December, 2021. . Hello Ted, I’m working on an article for a magazine and I wanted to inquire about using some of your photos of El Ateneo Grand Splendid I found on Flickr. The magazine is an arts journal and is a non-profit organization. All credit for the photos will be given to you. I’d like to use the close up of the balcony, the overall shot of the bookstore that is focused on the stage-turned-café, and the shot of the bookstore’s different levels that looks to be taken from the second level. Please let me know what you think as soon as possible. Thank you, Madison Arsenault House of Cadmus

2021 - Mexico City - 65 - Cathedral of San Buenaventura in Cuautitlán by Ted McGrath Via Flickr: The Nave of Cuautitlán St. Bonaventure Cathedral has a unique altar piece with art work and gilded framing. The altar 4 pieces and possibly 4 more on the nave walls are all or not works by Flemish artist Marten de Vos. Some research says there are 3 de Vos paintings here. Apparently only one is signed by de Vos, a 1581 panel depicting St. Michael the Archangel hanging here since the sixteenth century. I think its the one upper right side. Marten de Vos was one of the most prolific and influential painters and print designers in Antwerp in the second half of the sixteenth century. In Mexico there are 8 paintings that are attributed to the artist, the only signed being the one placed in the altarpiece of the Cathedral of San Buenaventura in Cuautitlán. De Vos did not cross the Atlantic to the Spanish colonies unlike some of his contemporaries but many prints and several paintings did make the voyage and had a huge impact on the iconography as well as techniques of Colonial painting in the Americas.

Round 4:
Don't forget to also vote in round 3
Set it Right
2.10: Gunpowder, Treason, and Plot
Another crime that we did not get a full recording of this. It's just perfect and fits so well into the scene. Something TURN does extremely well in my opinion.
youtube
My Son John
2.08: Providence
Caleb is insanely iconic here. The Irish folk song goes by many names including "Mrs. McGrath", "My Son Ted", and a lot of others. Interesting enough, Caleb wouldn't have been singing this. As the story of the song takes place during the Napoleonic wars. Where a woman's son joins the British Army and returns missing a leg after battle. Since then it's been heavily associated with anti-war sentiments and was often sung by Irish volunteers during World War 1.
And here is one of my favorite recordings of the whole song

Return to Paradise, the upcoming Death in Paradise spin-off set in Australia, has finished filming.
Former Home and Away actress Anna Samson, who plays the show's lead character DI Mackenzie Clarke, revealed the news on Instagram. Other key cast in the show include Lloyd Griffith (Ted Lasso), Tai Hara (Colin From Accounts), Catherine McClements (Total Control), Celia Ireland (Wentworth), Andrea Demetriades (The Artful Dodger) and Aaron McGrath (Gold Diggers). And Anna posted a picture with some of the cast, saying: "I got to spend the last three months with these three lads. I love them more than I can say. We wrapped our show this week and my heart is broken that they will no longer be contractually obliged to spend time with me."
Return to Paradise, which has been shot around Sydney and the Illawarra coastal region, follows Mackenzie Clarke, a high-ranking officer in the London Metropolitan Police, who's forced to return Down Under after being accused of tampering with evidence.
The makers tease: "Having fled the town six years ago, infamously leaving her ex- fiancée Glenn (Tai Hara) at the altar, Mackenzie is not welcome here.
"But with no other job options, and a unique talent for solving a mystery, no matter how challenging, a reluctant Mack joins the team at Dolphin Cove Police Station. Once a case lands on her desk, she can't rest until she's figured it out, and the killer is in handcuffs. It's that tenacity and work ethic that might just, over time, help Mackenzie win over her new colleagues, and the people of Dolphin Cove."
Return to Paradise is the latest extension to the Death in Paradise universe. Beyond Paradise, which stars Kris Marshall as DI Humphrey Goodman, was the first spin-off and has proved a huge hit. Return to Paradise will be shown on BBC One in late 2024, while it's likely to head to BritBox in the US. It will be screened on ABC in Australia. Meanwhile, Death in Paradise season 14 will air next year.

https://tvline.com/lists/worst-tv-moments-2023-shocking-scenes-photos/
And just like that we are scarred for life. Here’s a gallery of tv moments from the cringe, the gross to the gory that we can’t unsee
2023 in Review: The Scenes We Wish We Could Unsee
Team TVLineDecember 11, 2023 7:00 am
Courtesy of HBO, Syfy, AMC, Foxnone
TV isn’t always filled with puppies and rainbows. Today, we’re (cautiously) revisiting the most twisted and disgusting happenings that flooded our screens — and our nightmares — in 2023.
Yes, we all might be better off not remembering The Last of Us’ fungal kiss of death or The Fall of the House of Usher’s gory acid shower, but where’s the fun in that? The list below isn’t all blood and guts, however. (Yay?) There’s also a rather revealing faux pas on Sex Education, Below Deck: Sailing Yacht’s human sushi tray (ick) and so much more.
A few quick reminders before you scroll down: The images below are pretty graphic, and some contain spoilers for your favorite shows. If you’re behind on any of the following, you might want to return later: 9-1-1, 9-1-1: Lone Star, Below Deck: Sailing Yacht, Bookie, Chucky, The Curse, Dave, The Fall of the House of Usher, Family Guy, Gen V, The Last of Us, New Amsterdam, Party Down, The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, Servant, Sex Education, Succession, Ted Lasso, The Walking Dead: Dead City, What We Do in the Shadows, The Wheel of Time, Wolf Pack and YOU.
Now for the fun (?) stuff: Scroll down for 23 of the year’s most disturbing moments. When you’re done, hit the comments to make your own additions to this list. Which 2023 TV moments do you wish you could unsee?
Photo : Fox screenshot
This one was a double whammy: After making us suffer through a character’s nightmare about her teeth falling out, the Fox procedural then made us watch that same character have (many!) tonsil stones extracted.
Photo : Fox screenshot (2)
The word “frozen” used to bring to mind delightful thoughts of singing snowmen and queens with ice powers. Now, the word makes us think of Rob Lowe’s Owen Strand pulling a guy out of a cryotherapy machine, then accidentally shattering his chest while attempting CPR. (Oops!) Oh, did we mention that the poor guy was the husband of the woman Owen was sleeping with? (Double oops!)
Below Deck: Sailing Yacht
Photo : Courtesy of Bravo
The crew on Bravo’s nautical reality franchise always goes to great lengths to make customers happy, but Gary took that to a whole new level when he became a human sushi tray for a special dinner. Not only were rolls of raw fish placed directly on his (clean, we’re hoping?) skin, but spicy wasabi was also served… on his nipples. Ours are tingling just thinking about it.
Photo : Max screenshot
Seeing Danny’s indebted client fall to his death wasn’t as bad as hearing the way he splattered once he hit the pavement. But we don’t have a list of Things We Can’t Unhear, so allow us the liberty of dropping this here.
Photo : Courtesy of Syfy
Nia Vardalos’ death scene was a masterclass in physical comedy, but we couldn’t help but wince at its sheer brutality. We can’t even decide which part was the grossest. The repeated slicing of Evelyn’s forearm with a butcher knife? The removal of her finger skin with a vegetable peeler? The head dunk into boiling water that melted her face? Actually, scratch that. It was definitely the peeler.
The Continental: From the World of John Wick
Photo : Peacock screenshot
As disappointed as we were to see half of Katie McGrath’s face covered up in the precious few scenes we got of her, eventually discovering what exactly some hungry rats had done to her mouth when the Adjudicator was but a wee lass made a very strong case for “masking up”!
Photo : Paramount+ screenshot
Emma Stone and Nathan Fielder’s Showtime series is constantly asking us to withstand high levels of cringe, but we almost couldn’t take this one: a prolonged peek at Whitney and Asher’s sex life, in which they both seemed to narrate a fantasy of Whitney having sex with another man while Asher controlled a vibrator for her. At least, that’s what we think we saw while shielding our faces from the screen.
Photo : Hulu screenshot
The FXX comedy forces us to watch at least one scene through our fingers every season. This time around, it was an unforgettably gross moment in the Season 3 finale, when the overzealous fan holding Dave and Brad Pitt hostage — a wild sentence fragment unto itself — dropped trou and urinated right there on Dave’s carpet, paranoid that using the actual bathroom would give Dave and Brad time to escape. Much like the captives, we didn’t know whether to look away in horror or keep staring at the spectacle before us.
The Fall of the House of Usher
Photo : Netflix screenshot
Prospero’s rager turned into the reddest of deaths when acid, and not water like he planned, rained down on the writhing mass of dancing partygoers. Melting your guests’ (and your own!) skin off their bodies while they scream, disintegrate and die? Ultimate party foul, Perry.
Photo : Fox screenshot
We’ve seen Peter Griffin take on a variety of strange body types over the years, but few have been as visually jarring as the coke-ravaged frame he sported in the screenshot above. The weirdest part? This isn’t even the only time this season that Peter has gotten hooked on a destructive drug. Thank God this show isn’t big on continuity, otherwise he’d have a rough road ahead of him.
Photo : Courtesy of Prime Video
The Boys spinoff certainly followed in the footsteps of the mothership series, delivering so many bloody and grotesque scenes that it’s difficult to pick just one. But if we have to narrow it down, even an exploding penis cannot top the Episode 5 sex scene in which a supe uses his vibrating fist to make his partner orgasm via the dolphin-esque blowhole on her back. We can’t even show you the moment, so take a look at Andre and Cate’s “WTF?” reactions instead.
Photo : HBO screenshot
We’re not sure why Tess wasn’t psyched when this infected sidled up to her and planted a big, tendril-filled, literal kiss of death on her in Episode 2 — he seems like such a fungi!
Photo : NBC screenshot
To be fair, we didn’t actually see all of the gruesomeness of when Max, Helen and co. amputated their wilderness guide’s leg in the forest to save her life. But just the sounds of the bone breaking and her guttural screams were enough to make us shudder.
Photo : Starz screenshot
Ron Donald may not have been very phased by his completely destroyed finger, but we’re siding with Henry’s feelings of shock and horror here. Needless to say, we really wish Ron had taken a beat (and a deep breath) before picking a fight with the back of his van.
The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City
Photo : Peacock screenshot
The image of a drunken Heather Gay puking in a plastic bag can’t be unseen, but it’s the sound of her violent hurling that really haunts us. Who knew such an iconic, elegant woman could not just toss her cookies, but so ferociously heave them? And what was that other liquid spilling onto the floor?
Photo : Apple TV+ screenshot
If there’s one series that reliably makes the cut year after year, it’s Servant. This time, some poor cult member (he probably deserved it) had his eye plucked out by a bird. It would’ve been easier to stomach had the bird gotten its snack from a cadaver, but this guy was alive and screaming while the flying predator snatched his eyeball from its socket. Gross to the max.
Photo : Netflix screenshot
Sooo, we’re going to not include a photo of Otis’ flaccid penis here, but do we wish we could unsee that unsightly image? A thousand times, yes. But let’s face it: Of course Otis accidentally flashed a photo of his member for his entire school to see! It simply wouldn’t be Sex Educationwithout some cringeworthy humiliations.
Photo : HBO screenshot
Heading into the series finale’s game-changing board vote, Roman fretted anew over why HE couldn’t be CEO. Kendall exerted dominance over his kid bro by pulling him in for a hug so purposely tight, it popped the stitches of the forehead wound Roman sustained during the street assault. Love hurts, the song tells us, but Kendall’s flex here was inhumane.
Photo : Apple TV+ screenshot
The opening scene of Ted Lasso’s Season 3 (series?) finale gave us one shock after another: Did Ted and Rebecca sleep together?! Oh, wait, no they didn’t. But now Coach Beard is here, and he’s in a thong! Of the three, that last one has haunted us the most, followed closely by the mental image of whatever Beard and Jane were doing in Rebecca’s guest bedroom the previous night.
The Walking Dead: Dead City
Photo : AMC screenshot
Leave it to the sewers of Manhattan to spew forth what is arguably the grodiest walker in the franchise’s history, a moldering behemoth made of fused-together zombies. Or at least zombie parts. (And we thought the rats were bad!)
What We Do in the Shadows
Photo : FX screenshot
Laszlo’s experiments to figure out why Guillermo couldn’t become a vampire went horribly awry when he combined Guillermo’s DNA with a number of animals, resulting in hideous hybrid creatures that were part man, part beast. It was tough enough just looking at them, but when they started talking and calling Guillermo “daddy”? We’d rather sit through an all-day accounting lecture from Colin Robinson than endure another minute of that.
Photo : Prime Video screenshot (2)
Everyone’s favorite reincarnated Dragon edgelord got BUSY this season with the totally not-evil innkeeper next door. So the absolute last thing we expected was to see Rosamund Pike send something akin to a pike right through the poor woman’s chest while they were at their, ahem, busiest. Not sure how Rand is expected to carry this trauma over to another bed anytime soon…
Photo : Paramount+ screenshot
Imagine waking up in the hospital, only to discover a bloody ram in the bed next to you. Then imagine a bloody claw ripping its way out of the bloody ram’s bloody stomach. Now try not imagining it — we bet you can’t! Welcome to our nightmare.
Photo : Netflix screenshot
We’re not looking to kink shame anyone (golden showers are your prerogative!), but we also could have continued existing just fine having never seen Lukas Gage giggling with delight while taking a stream of hot pee to the face. Joe didn’t know what he was walking in on, and neither did we.

Guys I know it's The Year of Our Lord 2023 and I am still thinking about BBC Merlin that ended in *checks watch* jesus christ 2012 but I was rewatching the series with my partner and we were really enjoying it and I felt very validated that this show I had watched as a teen WAS good actually, but then...
Like why is Season 4 like that? Like why are the last two seasons so garbage? I'm sorry?? Why did we do Morgana like that? Katie McGrath CAN ACT I've SEEN IT why is she DOING IT LIKE THAT??
We still haven't been able to finish season 5 because it is a bit of a slog and they really just flattened several characters, most notably Gwen and Morgana, but others as well. Why is Gwen, who was absolutely a main character in the first three seasons who had a lot of agency suddenly like, a background character who occasionally intervenes but is otherwise there for Arthur's character development?
ALSO WHY is Morgana NOT a good villain?? There are NO STAKES when she's the antagonist of an episode or even a slew of episodes. I think the longest time she's been able to "win" is like...two episodes? Maybe? Morgana should have been like Cersei in terms of threat levels, but she's just not and that's so a) uncharacteristic in terms of her S1-3 characterization and b) NOT GOOD STORY TELLING because your BIGGEST VILLAIN isn't even the most threatening thing they've been up against. Ghost Uther was more dangerous than Living Morgana!
She's a goth paper bag in seasons 4 and 5 and they do a horrible job trying to make us sympathize with her but also fear her (something done much better for villains in GOT or other shows - GOT is just on my mind because of the shared aesthetic - and NOT COUNTING the last few seasons).
Also Merlin?? Hello?? Why has he become the cop? S4-5 Merlin is essentially that cop in all cop shows who has a "gut instinct" that THAT GUY is the bad guy and he'll go against the law to beat his ass up and get him to confess and when Gaius or Arthur or anyone else calls him out he's like "Yeah but I had a /bad feeling/ about them" like BITCH WHY??
I love Mordred's arc, but it's predicated on Merlin being the literal worst and obviously our main characters need to have flaws but Merlin hates Mordred in a very un-Merlin-like way. He used to reject his visions or at least try to change them, but as soon as he sees Mordred killing Arthur or whatever he immediately hates Mordred no matter what Mordred does to show Merlin that he is changed. Old Merlin would have accepted that! Maybe that was a deliberate writing choice in the "I've learned I can't change fate" kind of way, but it plays very poorly on screen.
Anyway this was supposed to be a one paragraph rant about how BBC Merlin did my girl Morgana dirty in later seasons and I just kept remembering things to say so thank you for listening to my TED talk feel free to interact I'd love to talk about it.
