Sales Pitch (Eddie Munson x Store Manager!Reader)
Pairing: Eddie Munson x Fem!Reader
Summary: Reader has a new customer.
Warnings/Themes: Silly. Fluffy. Tiny bit of implied mutual pining. Reader works at the Claire's at StarCourt. Eddie works at TapeWorld. They're both kind of romantic and in need of some affection. Eddie is also a big loser and afraid to just ask someone out, luckily the reader is also hopeless and thinks he's kind of cute.
Note: Wrote this after posting Closing Time. After I wrote that, my brain just took me away. Because if I know anything at all, it's Shopping Mall romance (unfortunately the bad part of it, but still. Let me project and be self indulgent.)
Please do not interact if you are not 18+.
Enjoy!
---
"Ok, I'm going," your closing lead hustled towards you from the stockroom door, pulling her purse open for a bag check. "Did you want me to bring you anything back?"
"Nah, I'll grab some dinner after I leave. Thanks," you smiled and quickly glanced over her wallet, chewing gum, and walkman. "Have a good break."
You allowed yourself a moment of peace once she left--the store finally empty after a busy afternoon--before working on the mindless task of restocking the scrunchie wall.
Everything felt like it moved at light speed the past few months. First you had received your diploma from the local community college. Then you were offered the store manager promotion you had been working toward for years. You were in a new town--a new state--with an apartment of your own and actual neighbors; there were no pesky family members to drop by unexpectedly and pester you about your life choices like they had for your entire life.
You had a store and team of your own that you adored, through all of the ups and downs--although it had been mostly ups so far. The sparkly new StarCourt mall was a hit with the residents of Hawkins and the rest of Roane County. With the Grand Opening overlapping with the arrival of summer, the mall had been bustling with activity and people eager to shop.
After a lifetime of people pleasing tendencies, it was nice to bask in the praises of your district manager and all of the suits from corporate who had made the trek out to visit one of the youngest SMs in the company running what was quickly becoming one of the highest earning stores.
But Mall Life was still Mall Life, and with this new adventure away from everything you had ever known, it was nice to find comfort in your typical routines. Writing schedules, treating yourself to an Orange Julius on breaks, counting dollar bills crumpled from the hands of sweaty kids. Cracking jokes with your team members, listening to the gossip of whose-boyfriend-was-flirting-with-who from the one part-timer who was also a life guard at the community pool, walking around the empty mall after store hours, and piercing ears for 8 hours a day.
It was a whole lot of...nothing, sure. But you could do it for as long as you needed to. The independence was too good to give up for now. You could wait until the next big thing came into your life.
Right?
The bell rang, alerting you to your new customer, and as a reflex, you looked up and greeted.
"Welcome in, be right with you."
"Take your time, Iâm just having a look around,â he responded with a shrug. You were sure he was feeling as out of place as he looked--with his band tee, flannel, and ripped black jeans--amongst the pastel jewelry and neon scrunchies.
You knew him...sort of. As much as anyone really knows anyone else who worked in a mall.
The tall, wide-eyed, and--quite frankly--cute metalhead with fluffy hair from Tape World.
He had been on duty when you barged in during opening week. Your shop radio had stopped working and you had driven home in a panic to grab your old portable stereo but you had unfortunately forgotten your tapes. He had easily navigated the crowded aisles to pluck a selection of them for you to bring back upstairs. He cracked some kind of joke, but in your rush to get back to the store, you totally ignored it. And you vaguely remember being kind of rude.
You felt really bad about it later in the day--no one deserved attitude from a shitty customer--and you had brought down a bag of cookies from the food court for him at the end of your shift as a thank-you-slash-apology. Unfortunately he had left for the day, according to the closing manager.
You had seen him around a few other times, crossing paths as you headed to the employee parking lot after hours or during breaks in the food court. You'd tried smiling or saying hi--your old store manager had taught you it was good practice to be nice to your neighbors at the mall. At first he had scowled, then eventually simply avoided you, turning his eyes away at first glimpse of you. Letting his long legs carry him faster to get further away.
You didn't know what you were hoping to gain from making amends with this guy specifically...
Actually, you did know. You wanted to make a friend.
You didn't really know anyone outside of your team and your landlord. You could just go and strike up a conversation with the staff at another store during your breaks, but given how crowded the mall was, you didn't want to be the type of person who bothered them while they were busy. You at least could say, in some capacity, that you had an excuse to start some kind of conversation with Tape World Guy.
Even if it was just to finally apologize.
The well-practiced customer service character that you had played for years was getting tiring to constantly wear in this new environment, especially after hours. You even found yourself doing it at the grocery store, hoping it would get you some sort of human interaction.
And did you forget that he was cute?
All of your old coworkers had their little mall romances that you had always been a little jealous of. Regular customers who would come in just to flirt, and then buy some random little trinket before they left. Or employees from other stores who would take an extra 5 minutes on their break so they could walk around the mall together. Sweet little notes that had been thrown through the gates for their partners to find when they came to open for the day.
Deep down you could admit that while friendship was your main goal...it would have maybe, sort of, been a little nice if Tape World Guy thought you were cute too.
God, it was such a stupid idea.
You had put all of those thoughts to rest since he seemed to want to avoid you at all costs. But here he was now, crouching in front of a tower full of jelly bracelets. This could be your chance to salvage things, even if it was just to find a friend.
You put down the box you were holding and dusted off your hands as you approached him.
"Was there something specific that you were looking for?" you began with your typical spiel. The hand that was rifling through the bracelets immediately retracted and he stood to his full height.
There was a brief deer-in-the-headlights look in his eye before it shifted into something more nonchalant.
"Just killing some time on break." He stuck his hands in his pockets and rocked on his heels a bit. "I, uh...I work downstairs. At Tape World."
"I know," you nodded.
"You do?"
Ok so that explained the scowling: he just didn't remember you. You were just some random person smiling at him whenever you saw him. That was...
Embarrassing.
...a relief.
"You helped me out one time. I was in a panic and you kind of saved my ass," you explained with a laugh. You looked down slightly. "You're also still wearing your lanyard."
His hands immediately came up to grab at the lanyard around his neck with his name tag and keys. Not Tape World Guy. Eddie.
He looked like an Eddie.
"Right," he chuckled. "I keep forgetting I have this thing."
"At least you're forgetting that you're wearing it and not forgetting it at home," you offered. "That's happened to the best of us."
"Well that's a jinx if I've ever heard one, sweetheart," he grinned. It was a nice smile, one that lit up his entire face and brightened his eyes.
There was a short pause and you felt stupid just standing there staring at him.
"Well, if you need anything, I'll just be--"
"The sign in the window!" He interrupted you, voice breaking slightly. "It, uh, said free ear piercings."
"Oh, um, yeah," you nodded.
"Great, I'll do that then."
"Well actually," you elaborated as he approached your piercing station. "The whole piercing process is free, you just need to buy the earrings."
"Oh. That's fine." he settled into the chair, pulling the little teddy bear, the one that brought the kids some comfort as they were getting their piercings, onto his lap. "Any employee discounts?"
"Unfortunately not, sorry. Not for mall employees; just store employees."
âThat sounds like youâre offering me a job. How tempting," he hummed.
"Uhhh--"
"But I'll have to pass," he made the bear wave its hand dismissively. "I don't have enough neon pink in my wardrobe to match the dress code."
You looked down at your own outfit for a second; yeah you looked like something out of the Seventeen Magazine Back to School issue. It was a little ridiculous but you always tried to look the part of cool mall girl.
"That's a shame; one of the unspoken rules is Dress to Impress the customer," you laughed. "Although, your hair would look great with scrunchies."
It really would. You could see it in your mind's eye. His curly mane pulled back messily, a few of the shorter pieces framing his face.
"We would meet our sales goal every day."
"I would be the number one scrunchies salesman. Hands down." His voice took on a richer quality as he sat a little taller and placed a hand across his chest. "Alas, I am a purveyor of cassettes. The best in all of Indiana."
"Really?" You laughed.
"My talents would be wasted here," Eddie concluded.
"Alright," you held your hands up. "You can't say I didn't try."
You got him set up with a clipboard and pen to fill out the piercing form as you got the station sanitized and ready. He would scribble some, then stop a few times, along with an intake of breath. You waited for him to ask whatever question he had, but he would then just ask the bear.
"Do you know the number to the plant? Yeah didn't think so."
"I don't know, do you think I should sign the liability? What if my ear falls off."
He got really quiet though once he was done filling the form out and you started marking his earlobes. He watched you with those big, wet, brown eyes and occasionally worried his bottom lip with his teeth before his tongue darted out to soothe it.
It was really distracting.
"Can I ask you something?" he broke the silence and you backed away from him slightly.
"Yeah?" He just stared at you silently and you wondered if he was just nervous. "Everything ok?"
He clutched the teddy bear and then relaxed his grip slightly.
"Broken Hearts or Gummy Bears?" he finally asked, avoiding eye contact for a moment. You frowned and opened your mouth to reply but he beat you to it. "For the earrings. I saw them over there and...I couldn't choose."
As he rambled about the pros and cons of each, you took a breath and put your hand on his shoulder.
"Are you afraid of needles?" you asked, interrupting him.
"What?"
"Needles," you repeated. "You just...seem nervous and I'm not going to blame you if you change your mind. It happens all the time."
"Well--"
"And I'm probably not supposed to say this to a customer but the piercing gun is...not the best experience." On your first anniversary as a sales associate, your old boss had taken you to get your cartilage pierced and she told you to never trust the piercing gun. "So if you don't want to do this, I won't make you."
He took a breath and then began rambling.
"It isn't that I don't want to." His voice sounded a little strained. "And I'm not afraid of needles; I have a couple of tattoos, actually. Theyâre not anything professional really. But I'm in a band. I'm, um, lead guitarist. Frontman most of the time but my buddy Jeff...well he's gotta work on his confidence."
For a second you wondered if Jeff wasn't the only one who needed to work on confidence. Tattoos or not, maybe he was just...afraid...
Maybe that cool exterior earlier was just...an act. You'd been there before, plenty of times. Play it cool until you could convince yourself to go through with something. Or until you chickened out.
Ok, you could work with this. You could help him get through this.
"That's pretty cool," you told him truthfully, trying to hype him up. It was cool. "The tattoos and the band."
"Really?" You nodded. "And new hardware would, uh, be really metal. If I did get it."
"Absolutely," you agreed. "You'd be a local trendsetter; all of your fans would be lining up outside so they could look like you."
"Fans," he chuckled dryly. "Right. Well, anyway, it's just...I'm on break and I only had a small window of opportunity to come up--"
"I get it."
"--and see if you wanted to hang out sometime."
Sure.
Wait.
You froze and had to collect yourself for a second as your brain broke.
Hang out? Was he asking...just to hang out or to hang out? Wait...he wanted to hang out with you?
"What?" you muttered. His eyes got really big.
"It's just that you're new in town, right?" He started. "And I thought...well shit, I thought I could show you around. Or if you wanted company sometimes at lunch, because you usually sit by yourself. And trust me, dude, I know it sucks to sit by yourself at lunch."
He knew you sat by yourself? Maybe all of those times you thought he was trying to ignore you, he was just nervous.
He laughed and looked down at the teddy bear.
"But I get it if you don't want to," he continued. "I know Stacey Andrews works here too; I don't know if she's said anything to you about me. She's a huge blabbermouth."
He winced.
"Not that...not that there's anything wrong with that. Gossiping is kind of all you can do in a small town like this."
"I get it," you said. The town you grew up in wasn't that small...but it was a tight knit community and everyone knew everything about everyone. And yeah, Stacey was kind of a blabbermouth.
"I figured," he shrugged, suddenly looking dejected. He played with the ears of the bear for a second and then stood up. "But yeah, I thought...I would at least ask."
Wait, did he think you were saying no?
âSorry about wasting your time.â
"Hey, wait," you stopped him before he could head towards the door. "A tour of town sounds great. And company at lunch."
"You don't have to say that just to be nice," he said dismissively, trying to brush you off.
"I'm not, please believe me" you insisted with a smile. He stopped in his tracks and looked at you. "If you have some...bad boy reputation in town or whatever, I mean, yeah that's kinda hot, but that's fine. But you're up here offering friendship to someone new, so even if Stacey was gossiping about you--which she wasn't by the way--I think I'm smart enough to figure out that you're not as bad as other people think you are. Or you think that they think you are.
"And really, it doesn't matter what others think. Because what I think is that you're a sweet, considerate, kind of goofy, definitely metal, neon-lacking, guitar-playing guy who is gonna show me the best place to get pizza in town because I've just been getting it downstairs before I go home and, I've gotta say, it isn't great."
Did you say all of that in one breath? Because you were definitely a little light-headed now.
He stared at you for a while before that grin took over his face.
"You think I'm hot?" he asked.
"Uh," you frowned and thought back on your words. Maybe you blacked out a little bit too. Did you say that? "No?"
"Because you definitely said I was kind of hot."
"I--" Why didnât your brain work? "I said...I said having a bad boy reputation was kind of hot."
"But I'm the one with the bad boy reputation," he explained. "Therefore, I am the hot one."
"I also called you goofy."
"You said a lot of things, sweetheart," he laughed. "Including pizza. Which I can guarantee that I provide the one and only comprehensive Pizza Tour of Hawkins. So. When are you free?"
When were you free?
"Fridays usually...or I close on Sundays."
"Well, wouldn't you know, I also close on Sundays."
"Great!" You grinned. "It's settled then. This Sunday after close."
"Great. I'll see you then," he bowed--bowed--and then walked out of the store.
You briefly relived the entire interaction in your brain as you went back to the piercing station to save the abandoned supplies.
Ok, so a date, but maybe not a date. At the very least, pizza with a new friend on Sunday.
God, you couldn't believe you called him hot.
The bell rang and you turned to greet your next customer only to find your new friend there again, slightly out of breath this time.
"My name's Eddie, by the way," he said and you smiled.
"I know," you giggled.
"You do?"
"It's on your name tag."

Prom with Tolkien Black
Song: Loving is Easy - Rex orange county
Warning: Swearing
Background: Tolkien tries everything to win a contest at your expense.
Status: Request Open
Previous part
Next part
Prom was coming up and with it came a million different pre-prom challenges, competitions, and activities meant to get everyone excited. You never wanted to participate in them it felt pointless. But your friend Tolkien was into it mostly due to his competitiveness. With every new challenge or competition announced Tolkien was determined to be the first one to finish or be the one to win.
He often included his entire friend group in winning these challenges. When it was announced that the best-dressed group at prom would receive a prize he made Craig, Tweek, Clyde, Jimmy, and you shop with him in the most expensive store he could find.
"Come on guys we have to look good to win!" Tolkien said from outside the dressing room.
"Dude it's not a big deal the prize is probably just like a gift card," Clyde said struggling to change into his suit inside his own changing room.
"Y-yeah i-i-is it wo-wo-worth all this eff-eff-effort?" Jimmy asked inside his own room.
"Yes! It's not about the prize it's about winning," Tolkien said tapping his foot impatiently.
"You're not hearing any complaints from me. If you're buying a dress that makes me look this good then I'm on board." You said stepping out of the dressing room in a long, low-cut, tight-fitting purple dress that matched Tolkien's suit accents.
It was a coincidence that you would choose to wear the same colors as Tolkien. You really did just like the color, but the other guys said it would make you look like a couple. Tolkien stood there speechless. He just stared at your figure in the dress, making his face heat up. He put his hand up to his mouth as he cleared his throat.
"Y-yeah guys you need to look as good as Y/N!" He shouted to the other boys in their room still changing earning a groan in response.
That wasn't the end of him using you all to win these challenges. When it was announced that, anyone who could manage to run through a crowd of students throwing water balloons while holding someone in their arms bridal style without falling, could win free tickets to prom you knew Tolkien was going to as someone in the group to be his partner. You were the other guys and they groaned hearing the announcement knowing at any minute Tolkien would walk in and force one of you to do it with him.
"I'm not doing it," Craig said scrolling through his phone.
"M-Me either!" Tweek said hiding behind Craig his eyes darting around the room looking for Tolkien.
"Oh come on guys you know how much Tolkien loves these things." You said with a sigh.
"T-t-then you d-d-do it," Jimmy said frustratedly as he had been the one Tolkien used the most for his challenges.
"Yeah come on Y/N take one for the team," Clyde begged.
"Fine, I'll do it!" You say throwing your hands up
It didn't take long for Tolkien to find the group with a determined look on his face. Before he could ask you cut him off putting your hand up.
"I'll do it." You say with a sigh.
Tolkien's face lit up and without a word, he took your hand dragging you to where the challenge was held. As the challenge began Tolkien held you in his arms tightly. It was different but you couldn't lie, you loved it. You had a tiny thing for Tolkien that you chose not to pursue but being in his arms made it hard to ignore those feelings you had.
You two won of course but not without your face turning bright red. When Tolkien was handed his tickets he gave them to Kenny. It truly wasn't about the prize he just wanted to win. You admired that about him, but you didn't know how much longer you could keep doing this it was just making it harder to stay friends with him without wanting more. So your stomach dropped when two weeks before prom a promposal contest was announced.
You knew he was going to do anything to win. It made you nauseous thinking about him asking someone else, but honestly, him asking you was worst. You knew if he did ask you it would only be to win the competition so when Craig, Tweek, Jimmy, and Clyde ran over to you with panicked looks on their faces you knew what was coming. It all felt like it was in slow motion. Tolkien comes through the front doors holding a bouquet of a hundred flowers, wearing his suit, with a band playing a sappy love song behind him. It was beautiful.
You felt your heart just break at that moment. You didn't expect Tolkien to feel for you the way you felt for him or even understand that you felt a way for him, but god you just wished he would understand how fucked the situation was for you. He walked up to you with a confident smile that made you cringe. You just wanted to cry but nothing came out. You just watched him get on one knee and hold out the bouquet out to you as the band started to quiet down.
"Y/N will you go to prom with me?" He asked looking up at you as the other guys were behind you looking at you.
"I-I.." You say as tears well up in your eyes causing Tolkien's expression to change. "No."
A gasp filled the room. The band had completely stopped playing and Tolkien looked at you confused. You just shook your head and turned to the other guys. They were well aware of your feeling and how fucked up this situation must have been for you. They all pulled you into a hug and Tolkien stood up just staring at you all with a confused look.
"I-I don't.." Tolkien started reaching out for you but Craig stopped him.
"Just stop," Craig said making Tolkien's hands start to shake.
Did he say something wrong? Did he do something? He thought you'd like this. He got your favorite flowers he played your favorite song. He didn't understand. Luckily it was the end of the day so you didn't have to stay there long. The guys took you home leaving Tolkien to wrap his head around what just happened.
"You should talk to him," Clyde said walking you up to your door.
"S-she do-doesn't have t-to," Jimmy said.
"I just don't know what to do." You say wipping away your tears.
"Look Tolkien doesn't mean harm. He's just not that smart sometimes." Craig says with a sigh leading you inside your house.
"Y-yeah j-just not to think about it right now," Tweek said as softly as he could.
You nod and sit down on the couch. Your head was reeling why did he have to do this to you? Why couldn't he ask anyone else why did it have to be you?
"We can stay if you want," Clyde said softly.
"No, it-it's ok." You said. "Thank you, guys."
They nodded and left. You sat on that couch for what felt like only seconds. It was hours of you just thinking about how stupid you felt. You heard a knock on your door. You groan and get up walking over.
"I told yall it was ok." You say as you open the door revealing Tolkien.
"H-hey." He said looking down at you.
"Hey." You said softly.
"Can we talk?" He asked reaching for your hand.
Your hands start shaking and you lead him inside. "I guess."
"Look I'm sorry. I don't know what I did but I know I hurt you." He said turning you around to face him.
You look up at him and shiver under his gaze. "Why me?"
"What? Y/N I.."
"No Tolkien why the fuck did you choose me to help you win some stupid fucking contest!" You yell your tears welling up again. "I have loved you for years you fucking idiot and you do this? I'm not here to help you win some stupid fucking 10-dollar Starbucks gift card! Is that all I am to you?"
Tolkien grabs your wrist and pulls you in close to him. He crashed his lips onto yours. You melted under his touch it was all you wanted. You didn't want to pull back but you knew you had to.
"W-what..."
"I love you too Y/N. I didn't ask you, to win I asked because I want to go with you." He said holding you tightly. "I'm sorry that wasn't clear I am a fucking idiot."
"I-I'm sorry I said no." You said softly.
"No, I understand why you did. Maybe the band was a bit much." He joked making you laugh softly. "There she is. Now will you please go to prom with me?"
You smile softly and nod. You and Tolkien went hard on the prom challenges after that. The other guys were happy to see you both were happier and that you both were finally together. You two hadn't made it official yet but you knew you wanted to. On the day of the prom, Tolkien picked up the entire group in a limo. You stepped out and when you get into the limo the guys were happy to see you.
"You look amazing," Tolkien said sitting down next to you and holding your hand.
When you guys got to school you all stepped out hand in hand with your dates. You guys were definitely the best dressed which made Tolkien happy. As you guys walked inside people couldn't help but stare.
"God we're gonna win this best-dressed thing." You mumble with a smile.
"We're gonna win prom king and queen," Tolkien said with a smile.
Sure enough, he was right you guys ended up winning almost everything that night. When it came time for the king and queen Wendy announced your names. You and Tolkien walked up on the stage and let Kyle crown the both of you.
"Is there anything you want to say?" Wendy asked you both holding the microphone to you both.
Tolkien looked at you with a smile and you gave the same one back. "We won bitches!" You both said in unison.
"Join your king and queen on the dancefloor!" Wendy said.
You all flooded the floor and danced. It was an amazing night being with all the guys. But especially with Tolkien. He did everything to make the night perfect for you. As the night winded down one last slow song played. Tolkien took you in his arms and lead you.
"You have fun?" You ask him softly putting your head on his chest.
"I still am." He mumbled stroking your hair. "I love doing this with you."
"Me too."
"We can do this again." He said lifting your chin to face you. "Be my girlfriend?"
You smile and kiss his cheek softly. "Of course, Tolkien."
A/N: Hey guys thank you so much for reading I am both very sleep deprived and have a headache, so my apologies if my work has been booty cheeks. Also, I feel I have to say this because some of you might be wondering why I'm so bad at spelling, but I write these and don't look them over before posting because if I do I would not publish them because honestly, I do not like my writing so I post them and edit them after. Ik it's annoying so I'm sorry for that. But thank you so much for reading I hope you all have a good day. Love you all đ©· đ©·

Prosecutors in California say the Romanian mafia has given a new look to an old scam â debit card skimming â by placing devices to steal personal information on self-checkout machines in grocery stores.
Debit card skimmers have long been problematic at gas stations and ATMs. Now a highly organized network of crooks is branching out.Â
"Theyâll have people sitting outside a Walmart or a Target, and it looks like theyâre panhandling," prosecutors told Fox News Digital. "Sometimes theyâll have a couple of kids. And they are actually using Bluetooth technology thatâs connected to the skimmers inside the stores. So it's like a two for one, getting cash that people give them and stealing the numbers off the skimmers."
Surveillance video obtained by the El Cajon Police Department shows suspects can place a skimmer over the checkout's credit card swipe in just seconds â and they look almost exactly like the real thing.
Police recommend tugging on a credit card swipe before inserting your card. If it wobbles or comes off, it's fake.
Authorities say they've already busted dozens of suspects, most of them with ties to organized crime in Romania.
And despite large busts in December and January of dozens of suspects in the U.S., Europe and Mexico, where they are teaming up with cartels in tourist hot spots like Tulum, the thefts are increasing as thieves double down on their efforts, authorities said.Â
They could be raking in up to $9 million a month â much of it at taxpayers' expense.
The skimmers, which can target EBT card users as well, have allegedly drained accounts the moment that the state releases monthly payments, according to Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer's office, which announced a major crackdown on such crimes earlier this year. As a result, more than $100 million worth of thefts robbed taxpayer-funded welfare programs and their recipients.
"The victims are single mothers struggling to put a roof over their children's heads and food on the table and hardworking people who need a helping hand who find themselves standing at the checkout line with bags full of groceries only to be humiliated when they find that they have no money in their account because a thief has surreptitiously taken everything," Spitzer said in a statement. "Meanwhile, the thieves are using this money to fund organized crime, to buy luxury cars worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, and to lead a life of luxury that the true recipients can only dream about."
On top of that, the porous southern border gives the mobsters a steady supply of new muscle, while a combination of lax bail policies and incomplete criminal records allow members to cut off their ankle monitors and flee justice if they get arrested.
"Thousands of criminals suspected to be tied to organized Romanian crime have been identified to be in the United States, with a large portion of them entering the United States illegally, mainly through the southern border," Kimberly Edds, the director of public affairs for Spitzer's office, told Fox News Digital. "A smaller portion of this population is entering as asylum seekers."
A group of Southern California counties, including Orange, Riverside, Los Angeles and Santa Barbara, has seen about 15% of the Romanian mob's activity within the US., she said.
In addition to sending stolen money back to Romania to fund luxe lifestyles and European sports cars, the crooks are also trading in food stamps for baby formula and energy drinks, which are then resold in Mexico in an alliance with local cartels.
Many of them even flaunt their ill-gotten gains on TikTok, including a 14-year-old suspect who police captured driving a $250,000 sports car and wearing a Rolex.
One of the men implicated in the plot was already on Romania's most wanted list â Florin Duduianu.
The 39-year-old was convicted in January after police watched him make multiple withdrawals using different cards from the same ATM in Placentia, about 30 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles. They caught him with four Visa gift cards that had been reprogrammed into clones of four different victims' debit cards.
Duduianu is expected to get 30 years in federal prison at his sentencing later this week, according to the Justice Department.
In December, the FBI announced it was partnering with Romanian police to raid dozens of locations in the European country connected to the California skimming thefts.
The joint operation resulted in 48 arrests and the recovery of more than $1 million and 11 luxury vehicles.
Many of the suspects arrested in Romania also had ties to Mexico's Riviera Maya gang, which itself is blamed for millions of dollars in skimming thefts in tourist hot spots that are popular with Americans, including Tulum and Cancun in Quintana Roo.
The gang's leader, Florian Tudor, is awaiting trial on fraud charges in Mexico and is wanted for attempted murder in Romania, as well.

CHICANO ART MOVEMENT: End of Year Review 2022
For CHICANO ART MOVEMENT, the year of 2022 contained different cultural and artistic expeditions across Southern California. We traveled to various locations to partake in events that were safe and fun to do within the parameters of the on-going pandemic.Â
(Detail of show poster for Robert Williams exhibition at the OCCCA.)
When it came across the CAM desk that artist & cultural icon Robert Williams was exhibiting in Southern California, our team agreed to attend due to the artist, his subject matter, and our previous positive experiences at Williamsâ other exhibition shows in the Los Angeles area of past years. On a weekend in late January 2022 to see the exhibition âThe Visual Adventures of Robert Williams: Arts, Prints, Skateboards, etc.â at the Orange County Center for Contemporary Art (OCCCA) in downtown Santa Ana. Robert Williams is an acclaimed lowbrow artist who has impacted lowbrow art, pop surrealism, hot rod car culture, and pop art with his juxtaposition of tangible items and original characters.
Through the main doors of OCCCA and in the front portion of the space, Williamsâ pop surrealism artworks welcomed patrons to look closer at the subject matter and details. For example in his giclĂ©e print titled âKachina,â Williams depicts in mid-air a devoted Hopi tribe member creating & filling kachina dolls with knowledge from the ancestors.
Following the flow, we then entered the largest space: the center room. Here arranged were the many pieces by the artist that displayed his relationship with the hot rod culture and lowbrow art. Within this community, Robert Williams is also known as Mr. Bitchinâ and is applauded for his work in the hot rod scene & for working alongside the greats such as: Ed âBig Daddyâ Roth & Kenny âVon Dutchâ Howard. This section contained a prime example entitled âDeuces Wildâ in which Williams re-created & stylized the 1932 Ford Company original vehicle advertisements into vignette renditions of different hot rod culture activities, such as: jalopy racing, dry lakes (racing), early stock car racing, sports car racing, drags (racing), street rodding, shadetree mechanics, and auto shows. In conjunction as a centerpiece within the works of Robert Williams was the 1932 Ford Roadster nicknamed âPrickly Heatâ that he customized and painted in a deep purple & lime green scheme with many creative details. Anita noticed the race number 397 in gold leaf embossing repeated three times on the vehicle, the hotrodâs nickname above the âPickly Heatâ logo, and the flashy lime green wheel rims.Â
(Piece by Casey Weldon entitled âThe Undermarker.â)
After taking a last look at the car, we proceed to the back space for a small group show filled with pop surrealist artists influenced by Robert Williams trajectory. He âputs in the âpopâ in pop surrealism, incorporating the aesthetics of hot rod and surf culture, graffiti, tattoos, cartoons, and comic books to produce artwork more in touch with the sensibilities of the masses. This assemblage highlights the influence his work has had on multiple generations of artists.â Looking through the captivating pieces in a clockwise fashion, Anita was intrigued by the artist Casey Weldon and her piece titled âThe Undermakerâ which vividly displayed a fierce woman with a unique pet creature that shoots fire from their eyes. Weldonâs use of purple and pink color variants as well as the creation of magical creatures is relatable to Williams and his style. Some of the other artists included in the presentation were: Jaime âGERMSâ Zacarias, Isabel Samaras, and Greg âCRAOLAâ Simkins.
(View of Chola Orange performance at 1st Annual Cito de Mayo Street Festival.)
In early May 2022, CAM ventured to Santa Anaâs Downtown District for their evening programming of music and art. We walked to the corner of 4th Street and Birch Street to attend the first edition of Cerveza Cito presents Cito de Mayo Street Festival. We took in all the vendors and community displays along the festival area before heading over to the stage for the entertainment. Via social media research, we learned that Chola Orange band was part of the line up. This was a superb opportunity to see a live, outdoor performance from this funk jazz ensemble who we had not seen in quite some time. After a brief sound and instrumental warm up, Chola Orange went into their set with full force. Within their song list, we heard new hits such as âHot Cheeto Stainsâ & âUgly like Pugslyâ from their Tokyo Sunset album recently released. Another new element to us was the bandâs addition of a fifth member as a second guitarist. The group and its combination of music, atmosphere, and funky vibes rang throughout Birch Street and had the people enjoying their sound. Post-performance we walked over to their merch booth to greet and chat with the bandmates plus stocked up on band t-shirts & a copy of their 2018 vinyl release of âSoul Blazer.â
(View of artist at his opening reception for âEstevan Oriol Photography at OCCCA.)
After the musical set, we walked a few blocks east to our second destination: the Orange County Center for Contemporary Art (OCCCA). This monthâs art installation was entitled âEstevan Oriol Photography - An Exhibition by Estevan Oriolâ that encompassed his portfolio as a talented photographer documenting his Los Angeles community through a unique photographic perspective and black & white photo productions. OCCCA states that Oriol âis known for capturing images of the dangerous gangsters, Lowriders, musicians, celebrities, L.A. lifestyle and the alluring beauty of women. All of these are shot in his uniquely provocative and raw style. He is the author of several books including LA Women, L.A. Protraits, and This is Los Angeles.â On the front wall sapce of OCCCA, Estevan Oriol displayed his large photoset that included: celebrity portraits of Danny Trejo and Ice Cube; witty subjects expressing their inner emotions, such as âMonkey taxidermy unmarkedâ and âBones;â and a few editions of Oriolâs noted âLA Fingers'' photograph.
As the space opened up, we saw a classic Chevy dropped low to the ground with a multifaceted paint job in earth tones with flakes detailings covered with a glossy finish. The vehicleâs placement projected an outdoor escapism which led the patron to visually look through the open & very large doorway (on the left side) that broke down the artiscal fourth wall and challenged the audience to set into the exhibitionâs outdoor extension into a collection of opulent classic lowrider cars in different polished paint jobs. In conjunction with Oriolâs photographic works, the opening reception festivities included this car show on the OCCCA parking grounds in which patrons walked around to take in all the fine details. Even the artist himself, Estevan Oriol, took photographs to document all his moments at OCCCA: from the car collection to exhibit attendees & their expressions.
(Artist GERMS at Muzeoâs Carnegie Galleries.)
In June 2022, our street team member la reportera Anita provided on-site coverage in downtown Anaheim of artist Jaime âGERMSâ Zacarias at his art residency with Muzeo Museum and Cultural Center. Through online platforms, we learned about this type of initiative, how GERMS was the inaugural artist-in-resident at Muzeo, and the schedule of drop-in viewing hours throughout the month of June. Â Through its Makers @ Muzeo literature, the museum states that this contemporary painter âis a Chicano artist and South L.A. native who has captured the essence of Los Angeles and Chicano history through a myriad of futuristic and three-dimensional characters.â Following the directional signage at Muzeo, Anita walked into the Carnegie Galleriesâ lower level to see GERMS, the artist at work. After a brief introduction, he invited one to look around and ask questions. During her observations of the in-progress collection, GERMS explained his artistic process of maximizing his own potential and production via time blocking strategies that allowed him to focus on painting canvases until his momentum slowed down to then switch his attention & efforts to another canvas set to be filled with his own unique characters.
Laid throughout the Carnegie Galleriesâ wide and large space were the in-progress pieces that GERMS was rotating between. One canvas set on the back wall displayed paintings in mid-stage which allowed one to see the details within the layering of colors and symbolism. From left to right, Zacariasâ images of his squid-like creatures in vibrant pigments with stylized, tinted tentacles were in distinct phases of production that gave insight to the artistic progression of his subject matter. In contrast, on the front wall was a set in the beginning stages of creation. It was clearly visible that GERMSâ application of background colors, overlapping stenciling, and drip paint techniques had dried completely and was ready for his iconic squid-creatures to be painted on the center as the main figure on each canvas. Afterwards, Anita stepped back to see the artist at work who with an acrylic paint palette in hand stated that he will repeat his process of painting in sets until completing 12 pieces in total by the end of the month for the conclusion of his time with Makers @ Muzeo artist in residence programming.
(Live performance by Very Be Careful at the Garden Amphitheater.)Â
Taking advantage of open-air programming and in mid June 2022, we danced the time away at two concerts. On Friday the 17th, we traveled to the Garden Amp (a small outdoor amphitheater located in Garden Grove, California) for a night filled with pachanga music thanks to the concert produced by Acropolis Music Group with performances by Azul Quetzal, Raskahuele, and headliner Very Be Careful, one of our favorite vallenato cumbia groups hailing from nearby Los Angeles. Â We checked in with our digital tickets at the entrance, got drinks at the bar, and toured the pop-up shops on location. At the Very Be Careful merchandise table, Anita purchased one of the 20th Anniversary t-shirt series that highlighted each band member in a sports action pose. She got the shirt featuring Peabody (Craig Martin) in full football attire with his percussion instrument el guiro in hand.
Next we took our seats in the amphitheater to enjoy the last of the musical performance by the ska reggae group Raskahuele. Afterwards, the cumbia sonidera sounds by the DJ collective of Ritmo Santanero got some couples on the dancefloor during this interlude. At a quarter after nine, the headliner Very Be Careful took the stage with the crowd cheering in anticipation. VBCâs own cowbell percussionist & hype man, Dante, welcomed fans to this Friday night performance and had the crowd participating in a humors call-back routine between him and the concert goers. Their performance was filled with energia alegre, rhythmic songs that got loyal and new fans to the dancefloor. From start to finish, Very Be Careful created a backyard party atmosphere that had couples & parents with their little ones in arms dancing untill the very last song.
(Posters at the Juneteenth Festival in Santa Ana, California.)Â
The next day on a sunny Saturday afternoon, we readied ourselves for Santa Anaâs Juneteenth Festival at Centennial Regional Park hosted by the Orange County Heritage Council and the City of Santa Ana. This outdoor festival welcomed all to âlearn about African-American Culture and the significance of Junetheen, enjoy musical performances, food and more.â The listed performers for the celebration were artists such as: Slum Village, Knoc-Turnâal, and headlining, The Delfonics.
On the festival's social media content, it stated: âJuneteenth is the oldest known annual observance commemorating the abolishment of slavery in the United States of America. The Juneteenth Independence celebration dates back to June 19, 1865. It was there in Galveston, Texas that Union soldiers delivered news that the Civil War had ended and enslaved African Americans within any state were free.â
Upon our arrival to Centennial Regional Park, event staff greeted community guests to this first edition of the annual Juneteenth Festival celebration. A large welcome arch of balloons and banners created a guided pathway filled with informational posters highlighting the African-American community, history, and contributions to the city of Santa Ana. First we learned that Miss Helen Shipp, founder of The OC Black History Parade, was immortalized in a community mural; and secondly, we were informed how the cityâs little league baseball organization was named after MLB player Gary Templeton, who was a three time All Star Player & National Baseball League Hall of Famer.
(Music artist Knoc-Turnâal at the Juneteenth Festival.)
Past the welcome arch, we walked towards the entertainment area for the acts. The first artist to take the stage was L.A.âs own Knoc-Turnâal with his hits âBang Bangâ and âLA Confidential;â rapper Knoc-Turnâal has a career spanning twenty years and has worked alongside multi-platinum creators: Â Snoop Dogg and Dr Dre.
(Musical act Slum Village rapping at the Juneteenth Festival.)
The performance by Slum Village had an enthusiastic introduction by Santa Ana Councilman Johnathan Hernandez which led one to infer that Hernandez indeed was a big fan of this early 2000s hip-hop rap duo from Detroit, Michigan. Slum Village members T3 and Young RJ rocked the mic with their underground hits and have collaborated with the likes of Kayne West, J. Dilla, and MC Breed.
(Juneteenth Festival headlining performance by The Delfonics.)
In between musical sets, we ventured to support the vendors and local communities initiatives while eating a tasty ice cream treat in anticipation for the Grammy Award-winning artists: The Delfonics. The mainstage was now filled with attendees and we decided to choose a key location for easy front-row access for documentation and enjoyment purposes. Once the famous Delfonic Theme song began, the crowd got excited. In matching blue sequin jackets & black captain hats, each member was individually introduced and welcomed by the cheers of new & old fans. We were mesmerized by their amazing musical talents and perfectly choreographed dance routines to their hits of âDidnât I,â âHey! Love,â and âSomebody Loves You,â all notable songs of their music catalogue. Unfortunately, their show was impacted by the earlier artists and resulted in The Delfonics not being able to perform their complete song list. Â To close the still very enjoyable show, The Delfonics performed their soulful 1968 US Billboard love song hit âLa-La (Means I Love You)â which ended with members singing the last lines a la a cappella that left the crowd cheering for an encore.
Less than a month after their performance in Santa Ana, we learned that we lost the lead singer & founding member of The Delfonics, mister William âPoogieâ Hart passed away on July 17th at the age of 77. Rest In Power William Hart and thank you for all your music and memories.
Throughout the 2022 year, CHICANO ART MOVEMENT was a patron of the arts by buying fine art prints. Anita added two to her collection. First was the collaboration piece between Shephard Fairey & photographer Melanie Nissen titled âAlice Bag,â a portrait of L.A. based, punk rock artist Alicia Armendariz who was also the co-founder of 1970s punk band âAlice & The Bagsâ and a great Chicana musical trailblazer. The second artwork purchased by Anita was a Star Wars: The Mandalorian glow-in-the-dark, timed edition print titled âI will teach you to protect yourselfâ by Mark Englert and Bottleneck Art Gallery; this artwork is a companion piece to the 2021 print released by the same artist.
Our adventurous expeditions in 2022 ranged from various contemporary art exhibits and numerous musical concerts of diverse genres in which we learned more about the fine arts and its processes plus had great opportunities to reconnect with our musicians and artists compañeros y compañeras. For the upcoming year, CHICANO ART MOVEMENT looks forward to being part of the community that supports the arts in all its shapes, forms, and distinctive manifestations.

Today, Tomorrow and Forever
Summary: Angel Elvis went through Hell when being falsely accused of betraying God. Eventually found true love with LAPD narcotics officer B.B. King.
EpilogueÂ
Pairing: B.B. King x Elvis Presley (m/m)
Word count:Â 2.1k
Warning:Â 18+, smut, profanity
I will love you longer than forever Promise me that you will leave me never Here and now dear All my love I vow dear Promise me that you will leave me never I will love you longer than forever Now that we are one Clouds won't hide the sun Blue skies of Hawaii smile On this, our wedding day I do love you with all my heart
Elvisâ ocean blue eyes sparkled with love as he serenaded his groom with âThe Hawaiian Wedding Songâ. He and B.B. had finally tied the knot on the beautiful island of Maui over a year after the horrible car crash and ICU scare. So much had happened in the interim. B.B.âs rehab had lasted for months, but eventually he recovered fully and returned to full duty earlier than most of his colleagues had expected. It felt like a just retribution to the rejuvenated detective when he got to participate in the well-planned raid and triumphant drug bust operation at the Reapersâ East LA headquarter. Some of Mad Macâs lieutenants were fatally shot during the shootout between the police SWAT team and the gang. A substantial number of gang members were arrested, including Mad Mac himself, who had since been incarcerated for weapons and drug trafficking offences. This effectively suppressed the criminal activities of the Reapers in the county. B.B. and Clay both received special medals for their outstanding investigative work connected to this case. In the meantime, Elvis trained tirelessly and was awarded his second-degree black belt. More importantly, he was finally officially hired by the YMCA as a martial arts instructor after B.B. somehow succeeded in getting him a social security card. Slowly but surely, the couple cleared the many hurdles in their path, earning their well-deserved and long-awaited wedding honeymoon getaway in the Aloha state.Â
B.B. laid his eyes on the radiant angel standing across from him, his heart was full of joy and gratitude as he prepared to reap the fruit of their love as a newlywed for the first time. Their ceremony was intimate and discreet, with the only guests being Tina, Clay and Fats. The wedding proceedings were brief but just as if not more emotional than those of any other couple. Elvis felt so grateful that B.B. spoiled him with everything he wanted for the wedding, from the white chapel to the tasty wedding cake to the scenic locale. He was hopelessly smitten with his Gunnie, all dapper in perfectly tailored black tuxedo on their big day. Their hotel room was modest but cozy, with a balcony facing the ocean beyond a sliding door. Presently, the fading sunset was casting an orange glow over the beach dotted by palm trees. B.B. walked over and closed the curtains, being more entranced by the view within the room. He then stepped closer to his other half, placed a soft kiss on his succulent lips, and proceeded to take the purple orchid lei from around his neck. An adorable lopsided smile bloomed across Elvisâ face, he unbuttoned and peeled off B.B.âs tuxedo jacket, removing the perfectly complementary orange and white lei as well. Soon Elvisâ immaculate white tuxedo joined the groomâs black one on the backs of a pair of chairs. More pieces of clothing came off as the newlyweds lovingly undressed each other, until they bared their bodies and souls once more.Â
âOh Gunnie, I canât believe we finally made it!  Everything Iâve got is yours.â Elvis gushed as he fully embraced his man, taking in his pleasant scent, nipping lightly on his neck and jaw. B.B. ran a hand through that head of perfectly coiffed hair, then cupped his angelâs face and guided it up until their lips were locked as they tasted each other hungrily.Â
As the couple pulled away for air after the protracted kiss, B.B. whispered to Elvis: âHoney, letâs go take a shower together.â The pair of half-lidded bedroom eyes blinked a few times: âGreat idea, why didnât I think of that?â B.B. chuckled and gave in to the temptation to pinch the cheeks on that cute, dumbfounded face. He went to the bathroom and turned on the shower, then continued to make out with his baby until the water became warm enough. The sensation of warm water from the shower head hitting his fatigued muscles was so relaxing that Elvis let out a satisfied sigh. B.B. gently massaged the back of his neck and upper back, not forgetting to stroke the delicate feathers on his wing stumps making the angel moan audibly. The newlyweds then lathered each otherâs hair with shampoo and each otherâs bodies with shower gel. While supposedly scrubbing their backs, neither of them could resist feeling the other up and down sensually. All the passionate caresses and rubbing naturally led to excitement in the nether regions. Elvis took his husbandâs half-mast cock in his hand, pumped it a few times before kneeling down and licking all along it. The organ quickly swelled to its full size as B.B. was transfixed by the sight of cerulean eyes gazing up into his own while plump lips enveloped around him. In fact, B.B. didnât think he could ever get used to the spell Elvis seemed to cast on him during intimacy. He could feel those elegant hands holding on tightly to his hips and pulling his torso closer and closer, until that chiseled nose was practically touching his pubis. B.B. buried his hands in Elvisâ wet hair, throwing his own head back as waves of pleasure traversed his body. As his arousal grew, groans started to escape B.B.âs mouth involuntarily. They kept getting louder until turning into a shout as he bucked up forcibly and ejected his full load deep down the throat of his ready and willing spouse. Elvis licked B.B.âs cock lovingly while warm water rained down on his face, washing away the stray tears at the corners of his eyes. Still panting from his orgasm, B.B. pulled Elvis up to his feet and pressed their lips together for another round of tender kisses.
Before the shower water had a chance to turn lukewarm, the inseparable pair shut it off and opened the sliding door. They quickly toweled each other dry, and Elvis was about to tie a piece of linen around his waist and walk over to bed when a nudge from behind sent him forward towards the sinks: âHoney, look in the mirror. Want me to take you from behind here?â Elvis looked in front of him as he was told and saw a sizable mirror just above the side-by-side double sinks. Through the slowly vanishing steam, he could see the reflection of B.B.âs possessive arms caging him in against the vanity top and sultry lips grazing over his ear lobe. Elvis blushed: âSure Gunnie, you can take me however you want.â B.B. felt his member getting harder again hearing such obedient response from his angel. âStay.â He commanded as he walked to the other room to retrieve a tube of lubricant. Once returned, B.B. coated his fingers with copious amount of clear gel and patiently stretched Elvis out. The angel accommodated his husband by bending partially forward and supported his upper body by pushing against the countertop. It didnât take much for B.B.âs cock to perk up fully again, and with a grunt he entered the raven-haired beauty from behind. He enjoyed the view of flushing skin across that angelic face and how it spread down to the chest from arousal. B.B. then lifted one of Elvisâ long and perfectly proportioned legs over the vanity top, allowing more access to his thrusting. The different angle intensified the stimulation and pleasure that much more for Elvis, he made a breathy whimper and reached back for a kiss while B.B. caressed his neck down to his chest with one hand. Their tongues entangled while their torsos remained joined, grinding against each other in perfect harmony. Once their lips parted, B.B. picked up the pace and intensity of his lovemaking. Concurrently, Elvis' breaths grew more and more uneven from the overwhelming sensation of fiery bliss. From the mirrorâs reflection, B.B. admired the alluring view of his angel lost in lust and pleasure, with his back arching and eyes closed, long lashes casting a shadow against his cheeks. B.B. made Elvis gasp when he slid one hand down the soft and smooth skin over his babyâs lower abdomen and took a firm hold of his erection. As the large and warm hand stroked the member vigorously, making use of precum and residual lube on the fingers, Elvis sobbed out: âPlease Gunnie! I canât hold it no more!â B.B. used one arm to clench Elvis against his chest, while the other hand kept pumping faster: âBaby, donât hold back, just come for me!â  Hardly a minute later, the young man shuddered and pearly white essence sprayed across his chest and belly.Â
B.B. thrusted for a bit longer as Elvis came down from his climax. When the young man started to slump against the unyielding grip that was holding him up from behind, B.B. pulled out his member and turned Elvis around, allowing him to rest on the vanity top for a brief minute. Elvis leaned back against the mirror, catching his breath as his other half quickly wiped away the spent from his trunk with a damp towel. B.B. pulled Elvis into an embrace, letting the young man circle both arms around his neck and legs around his back. His hands squeezed those plump and peachy buttocks, slipping under them to find purchase: âHang on tight honey, Iâm carrying you over to bed.â As B.B. started to straighten up, Elvis tightened his hold instinctively and wrapped around his husband like a python around a tree, gently reminding him: âCareful Gunnie, donât hurt your back!â.
âBelieve me honey, I ainât that old yet!â B.B. joked as he swooped up his baby and walked over to bed. Elvis let out a shriek as he was thrown onto the sheets and bounced amongst some pillows. B.B. wasted no time to pounce on his delicious meal, pulling him to the edge of the bed. He stood over Elvis, holding his feet up in the air, spreading his legs wide apart, then inserted his cock and picked up where he left off. Looking up at his man, robust muscles covered with a thin layer of shiny sweat, descending upon him like some ancient hedonistic deity, Elvis had to hold back happy tears as he took everything he was given. All the while B.B. was living out his dreams, kissing his angel on the calves and inner thighs between intense pounding sessions. Finally he was overtaken by a tide of ecstasy as he stuttered to a stop with a loud grunt, burying deep inside his sweet lover. Elvis pulled his man down into a tight hug as he relished in the sensation of seeds spilling within.
The newlyweds stayed in the same position for a while, catching their breaths, cherishing their deep physical and spiritual connection together. Then they parted briefly to scoot up the bed and cuddle more comfortably. âThat was incredible!â Elvis marveled, âlater tonight you can wake me up and we can go again!â B.B. burst out laughing: âHey babe, no rush. Weâve got plenty of time!â To hide his blush the angel responded by peppering B.B.âs chest with kisses. Silently B.B. stroked the young manâs soft hair, then all of a sudden he asked: âElvis honey, why did you give up eternal life for me?â Caught unprepared, the angel stammered for an answer: âI, I⊠Gunnie I didnât mean to keep it from youâŠâ  B.B. cupped the strikingly handsome face and looked Elvis in the eyes: âSo itâs true then. I suspected it but wasnât sure, I found some gray hairs on you recently.â Elvis admitted after a pause: âGunnie, I had to. I couldnât lose you.  Iâd always take a lifetime of lovinâ over an eternity of loneliness for sure!â âWhat about the demons?â B.B. grabbed Elvis on his shoulders and shook them a little, âHave you thought about those fuckers still scheming to catch you and harm you? You suffered a lot during your past life, I donât want you to go through that again and go to an early grave!â Unfazed, the corners of Elvisâ mouth started to pull up into that good-natured lopsided smile again: âDonât worry darlinâ. My goal is to be with you from today until forever, God granted that to me and thatâs all I need. During my past life I felt responsible for too many people, parents, relatives, friends, fans. I never found the one true love. In this life I found you, my mission is complete. Iâll devote this life and beyond to you alone.â Tears started to track down B.B.âs face as he hugged his sweetheart again: âYou silly bean, I donât know what to do with you! But Iâll promise you this, Iâll live this life and the next for you just as you will for meâŠâ A flurry of kisses drowned out his vows as the lovebirds locked their lips again and again.

Key Strategies for a Successful Dumpster Rental Business in Orange County
Dumpster Rental in Orange County, CA is essential in a region with a diverse community and a bustling market for construction, renovations, and cleanouts. To serve customers effectively while maintaining operational efficiency, itâs vital to focus on tailored service offerings, strategic customer engagement, competitive pricing models, and sustainable practices. Addressing common industry challenges, Dumpster Rental in Orange County, CA can deliver reliable waste solutions that meet the unique demands of this active market.
Service Offerings
1. Variety of Dumpster Rentals Size: From a small 10-yard model for residential cleanups to a larger 40-yard model, it caters to an extreme range of the customer's requirements because of such extreme variations in project scope across regions.
2. Specialty Rentals: Specialty dumpsters are best for niche types of waste, such as construction debris, yard waste, or e-waste. The more public awareness and concern about issues growing around hazardous waste handling increase, the more attractive such services will become.
3. Flexible Rental Terms: Our company shall also be able to offer flexible rental periods, from one day and upwards as might be required of our clients. It would appeal significantly to contractors as well as businesses that may have fluctuating schedules.
4. Value-Added Services: Bundling services such as junk removal, recycling, or waste sorting can add revenue while giving them the most holistic solution possible for the customer's needs.
Customer Engagement
1. Strong Online Presence: The website should be constructed in a manner that allows customers to easily obtain a quote, check on availability, and make service bookings. Online reviews and testimonials help build trust and attract new clients.
2. Educational Resources: Most customers have little to no idea about the dumpster rental process. Guides, FAQs, blog content about best practices in waste management, or any other relevant topic can position us as the industry experts there, which helps build a more informed customer base.
3. Responsive Customer Service: An effective customer service team will be able to address questions, identify and resolve issues immediately, and provide support throughout the rental process with a direct consequence to customer satisfaction and loyalty.
4. Loyalty and Referral Programs: This would involve those which reward repeat customers or promote incentives for referrals. This can help build a loyal client base and expand our customer reach through word-of-mouth advertisement.
Pricing Strategies
1. Competitive Analysis: If you are going to charge competitive pricing, then you would definitely need to know your local competition. Transparent structures on pricing would break it down on what costs constitute it, thus giving customers reason to believe and not get the wrong end of the deal.
2. Tiers Pricing Model: The model provides the customer with tiered plans on what is in small to large dumpsters and days to weeks on rentals.
3. Promotions and Discounts: Seasonal promotions or discounts on a huge project will help in receiving business during the slow months and persuade customers to choose our service instead of other competitors.
4. Cost Management: Review of operational costs like fuel, maintenance, and labor will enable us to adjust the prices strategically without impacting the levels of profitability.
Sustainability Practices
1. Recycling and Diversion Programs Offer recycling programs and partner with local recycling facilities to divert waste from the landfills. Besides promoting sustainability, we target environmentally aware clients.
2. Waste Education: Educates our customers on proper waste disposal and recycling practices that help promote our reputation as a responsible service provider and supports sustainable behavior in the community.
3. Effective Logistics: Using routing software to optimize delivery and pickup routes minimizes fuel consumption, reductions in cost, and carbon footprints.
4. Community Engagement: Participating in local environmental initiatives or community clean-up events can enhance our brand image and demonstrate our commitment to sustainability.
Challenges and Solutions
1. Compliance with Regulations: Dumpster rental regulatory requirements vary from the local authorities pertaining to waste disposal and guidelines related to the environment. The statutory compliance could be managed to avoid any potential compliance risk through regular training of the staff and updating what is being done locally.
2. Market Competition: The dumpster rental market in Orange County is competitive. A difference between our services offered through extraordinary customer services, specialized offerings, and community involvement would place a competitive edge on the business.
3. Customer Education: Most people get frustrated because they do not know what to throw in a dumpster. Guidance and a visual can help customers be regulated with the rental process for a smooth experience.
4. Seasonal Demand Fluctuations: Businesses can go through seasonal fluctuations whereby there are months with very high demand than others. Having a diversified service and targeting a different customer segment helps stabilize revenue throughout the year.
Conclusion
Running a successful dumpster rental business in Orange County would require strategic operations based on attention to customer needs, complete price competitiveness and sustainability. By presenting varied services, effective handling with the customer, and maintaining commitment to environmental responsibility, we can strengthen our position as a trusted provider in the community. Customer satisfaction and operational efficiency will help us in navigating through many challenges and capturing opportunities that can enable us to thrive in the long run.

The U.S. Justice Department on Thursday released a withering report into the hundreds of Texas law enforcement officersâ fumbled response to the 2022 Robb Elementary School shooting, finding âcascading failures of leadership, decision-making, tactics, policy and training.â
The long-anticipated 575-page report detailed the many failures of the May 24, 2022 response, but concluded the most significant was that officers should have immediately recognized that it was an active shooter situation and confronted the gunman, who was with victims in two adjoining classrooms.
It noted that since the 1999 Columbine High School shooting, American law enforcement officers have been trained to prioritize stopping the shooter while everything else, including officer safety, is secondary.
âThese efforts must be undertaken regardless of the equipment and personnel available,â the report found.
Instead, officers wrongly treated the situation as a barricaded suspect, even as children and teachers pleaded for help with 911 operators. It took 77 minutes for officers to confront the shooter. Nineteen students and two teachers died that day and 17 others were injured in one of the countryâs worst school shootings.
The federal review by the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services was announced just five days after the shooting. It was led by Orange County Sheriff John Mina, the incident commander during the 2016 Pulse Nightclub massacre in Orlando. In that incident, officers waited three hours to take down the shooter who had barricaded himself with victims in a bathroom.
A Justice Department and National Policing Institute review of that Florida law enforcement response was far less critical than the Uvalde report. It found that Florida officers mostly followed best practices, although it stated the law enforcement agencies in Orlando should update their training and policies.
In the Uvalde review, the federal team reviewed more than 14,100 pieces of data and documentation, including policies, training logs, body camera footage, audio recordings, interview transcripts and photographs.
The team visited Uvalde nine times, spending 54 days there, and conducted more than 260 interviews with people from more than 30 organizations and agencies, including law enforcement officers, school staff, medical personnel, survivors and victimsâ families.
The Uvalde reportâs release comes two months after ProPublica, the Texas Tribune and PBSâ Frontline published an investigation into the response after gaining access to a trove of investigative materials, including more than 150 interviews with officers and dozens of body cameras.
The material showed that the children at Robb Elementary followed active shooter protocols, while many of the officers did not. It detailed how officers treated the situation as a barricaded suspect rather than an active threat even as evidence mounted quickly that children and teachers were injured and with the shooter.
ProPublica and the Tribune have also revealed that some officers were afraid to confront the gunman because he had a deadly AR-15 rifle. With the Washington Post, the news organizations found that the medical response also was flawed and that two children and a teacher were still alive when they were rescued more than an hour later, but then died.
U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland is expected to discuss the federal report at an 11 a.m. press conference.
