Surfers love this airport because it houses the world's largest man-made standing wave where surfers can have fun; sometimes there is a pro judging contest here too. Take some time to watch those surfers! MUC also has Visitor's Park, which offers a golf course, playground, and historic aircrafts for plane-lovers. Additionally, travelers can get some rest at Napcab sleep cabins.
During the winter, the airport comes to life with a traditional German Christmas Market as well as an ice skating rink!

To add that luxury component, one can ride in a futuristic-looking indoor train to their gate! Not to mention, DOH has its own gym where passengers can take a swim at their 25m pool, get pampered at the spa, and play squash. As if the airport isn't posh enough, high-end boutiques, furniture, and restaurants are spread throughout the buildings. Unconditional, uninterrupted joy
We have spent the last month in Agonda Beach in South Goa at Sampoorna Yoga School where I completed a 200hr teacher training course! 🙌After so much travelling around Sri Lanka we were looking forward to having a base for a month, but I was nervous about being in a non-baby related learning environment for the first time since Woody was born and Ged was nervous about being essentially the sole carer for Woody for a month! Here’s how it went...
The journey from Colombo to Goa went well thanks to taking the ergobaby on the plane and being lucky enough to have a spare seat in our row meaning we were all more comfortable and Woody slept 🙌 we then transferred him into the ergobaby and he slept the whole hour and a half journey to Agonda.
At 4pm we had our welcome meeting. Turns out everyone was just as nervous as me which made me feel better. We were put in to two groups of 30 (I was in the Tulip 🌷 group) and told to meet in one of the shalas at 6.30am the following morning for the fire ceremony which would officially start the course.
Our timetable was pretty intense and despite having long breaks for meals there was little time for anything but yoga. Here’s an example of a typical day:
6:30 Asana practice (Ashtanga/Vinyasa)
8:30 Tea and banana/biscuits
9:00 pranayama and meditation
10:00 breakfast
11:00 philosophy/anatomy
13:00 lunch
15:00 alignment and adjustment
16:45 tea and banana/biscuits
17:00 posture clinic/ asana/ workshop
19:00 dinner
Some evenings we had an extra hour of lessons so finished at 19:00 instead of 18:00 and sometimes we had extra philosophy Q&A for an hour after dinner. We also had reading to do, flows to create and practise, the whole Ashtanga primary series to memorise and exams to prepare for so it was all consuming. I didn’t actually leave the yoga village during the first 5 days, but it was never a chore. Our teachers were better than I could have hoped for, they are absolute experts in their field, full of passion, and so kind, supportive, encouraging and entertaining. I have learnt so much about the other Limbs of yoga and come away with a curiosity to learn more and an intent to try to lead a yogi life both on and off the mat when we get home.
The view from our shala - yoga from dawn ‘til dusk
Tumblr media
Ged held the fort with Woody like a pro. He was essentially sole carer for a month and made it look easy. Their daily routine involved a morning and afternoon trip to the beach where Ged put Woody through what sounds like a boot camp involving long stretches of crawling, walking holding on to the pram, braving the pretty big waves of the Indian Ocean and climbing rocks. Then back to Sampoorna for breakfast and what became a routine 2hr long nap for an exhausted Woody. (It’ll be laps of Queens Park when we are home to try to continue these long naps!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Meal times were interesting as most of the food was curried vegetables of some form as everything was vegetarian or vegan. The staff very kindly made non-spicy alternatives for Woody, but they were still curry and therefore very messy for a Baby-Led weaned baby. Most of Woody’s clothes are now turmeric-yellow and Agonda-dust orange in colour! Woody was a bit frustrated by the food, I think, because he couldn’t grab it well enough to eat as quickly or as much as he wanted so he was very shouty/ teary at a lot of mealtimes. Fortunately everyone was really understanding with a few wonderful friends who were really lovely with Woody and helped me and Ged out with him whenever they could! 🙏❤️
For anyone planning extended travel with a baby, I would recommend having at least one longer stay planned somewhere where you can settle in a bit and recover from all the moving around and packing and unpacking of the rest of the trip. Being in Agonda for a month really helped us all recharge our batteries.
Agonda is a tiny beach resort with nothing more than beach huts along the front and a single track road set back from the seafront lined with little market stalls, a few boutiques and several delicious restaurants and cafes as well as lots of beach front restaurants attached to the ‘resorts’. The beach is a 2mile white sandy beach that never feels too busy. It’s protected so you don’t get hassled by vendors either. Weekends were a wonderful mix of free time, beach time, eating deliciously fresh veggie and vegan foods in the local cafes, Ayurvedic massages, surfing, dolphin watching and eating dinner with our toes in the sand. Life in Agonda is so simple and beautiful.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
On the second weekend, my dear friend Liv arrived for 10 days. We spent blissful times at the beach at weekends and going for sunset swims after my lessons during the week. Liv did drop in classes at Sampoorna and was able to join us for meals there too when there was no time to leave the village! Woody adores her so she also helped Ged out with him meaning that he could go surfing a few more times.
As I mentioned, I was designated a Tulip. Our group was full of inspiring, committed, warm-hearted, passionate individuals. Every single person gave the course their all, supported everybody else and was a joy to spend every day with. There were people from all over the world ranging from early 20s to mid 50s with many different paths having led us all to the same place. There were a fair amount of injuries during the course, some Delhi belly (in Goa) and emotions riding high and low with a fair few tears being shed on and off the mat, but throughout, everyone was so supportive and caring and fun to be around. We had each other’s backs and made sure that ‘no-one got off the bus’, to quote our anatomy teacher, Olivier.
By the day of our final exams and graduation ceremony, I felt like I was sharing my pride and joy with my own little Sampoorna family. It was such a special end to an incredible life experience; everyone wore white and garlands made of carnations. First we had the closing fire ceremony and then the presentation of certificates before heading to the beach for photos and back to Sampoorna for dinner with live music and an after party at a bar on the beach. Ged and Woody and other family members were invited to the ceremonies and Ged and another Dad got a special mention from the Course Director for all their hard work with the kids. He thanked us for bringing them and said that they had bought a different energy to Sampoorna that everybody had enjoyed. I felt really proud of my little family and so grateful to everyone who made us so welcome.
Tulips and our teachers ❤️🌷
Tumblr media
I am taking home from Sampoorna so much more than knowing how to teach yoga poses (although I am so excited to start doing this too). I have learnt about our natural state of emotion, one of unconditional, uninterrupted joy and how yoga can help us to experience this. I have been reminded of how I want to live life and what is important to me and given the tools by which to try to live it, even if it won’t always be easy. I am excited to go home and start sharing what I have learnt with plans for an Ashtanga beginners course which will prepare yogis for led and Mysore-style Ashtanga classes. More information to follow xxx

Goa Hotels : Where to Stay in Goa
Tourism is an important part of life in Goa. There are people grouped and hotel options available at various prices.
Since Goa will be hosting hundreds of thousands of tourists over the Christmas and New Year holidays, lodging will be limited. If you intend to visit Goa in December, you should book ahead of time. Not just to find the best deals online, but also to save time while you're there.
Budget Hotel In Goa
A cheap hotel or backpacker accommodation is never far away for the spending plan traveller. These types of lodging may vary from simple rooms with simple mattresses to beautifully decorated guest houses, and since they're run by local families, a home-cooked meal might even be included in the bill!
3 Star Hotel Pic
Going off the beaten path in Goa will allow you to find affordable hotels, B&Bs, and backpacker hostels; however, prices will begin to rise as you get closer to the coastal belt and city areas.
A simple bathroom and a fan are usually included in a standard double bed. Prices can easily double during peak season.
Before paying, always check the room's condition (whether the toilet works, etc.) since certain establishments do not share the same standards of quality when charging similar rates.
Alternatively, for the best taste of rural Goa, stay in a family home, which is affordable and allows you to familiarise yourself in the local culture, while baths and toilets will most likely be in small outhouses.
Mid- Range Hotels In Goa
The majority of hotels in Goa are mid-range and moderately priced, with maid and room service, guest bars and restaurants, and Wi-Fi internet access. During the off-season, there is rarely a need to book these in advance, and the price gap between them and budget hotels is minimal.
3 star Hotel pic
A room with a good-sized bed, en suite bathroom, hot and cold water, cable television, air conditioning, and even a balcony can be had for as little as 500-800 Rupees per night, though most prices would be higher than 1000 Rupees.
Luxury Hotels In Goa
Families and short-term visitors prefer luxury Goa hotels and long-term rentals, such as 3-5 star hotels and private villas.
4 star hotels pic
While cheap, the level of luxury is unmatched, and rooms always have views of the beach and convenient access to local markets.
Tourists should expect to pay between 4,000 and 10,000 Rupees per night for a variety of restaurants, swimming pools, room sizes, and gym and spa facilities.
Goa Food
Goan food is incredibly complex and one of the world's first fusion flavours. While fish curries, fruit rice, and other staple dishes should not be overlooked, Goa's food vast collection offers many more distinct tastes and tastes to sample.
Seafood is a must-have on the menu for Goans, who take pride in their cooking as much as they do in their tea breaks. However, it is the joy of eating, not the method of preparation, that defines cuisine and culture.
Let's EAT Now,
Plantain Leaf is one of Goa's most popular vegetarian restaurants, with a menu nearly as long as the line of locals waiting outside. Plantain Leaf, located in the heart of the market district just off Calangute beach, serves the best of South Indian cuisine, including the classic vegetable pancake breakfast.
Then there's Greenland Bar & Restaurant, which is situated on Utorda beach, just a short walk from the Sunset shoreline's glorious sands.
Greenland's professional Goan chef prepares traditional delicacies and specialties for guests at this British-run diner, with their delicious banana fritters being a particular highlight.
Anjuna Beach, one of Goa's most famous resort destinations and just a short drive from Sunset Beach, is famous for its cuisine. Anjuna is where East meets West, with enough food options to keep visitors dining for weeks, as boutique cafés back onto Italian pizzerias.
Despite its diversity, nearly all Goan foods contain spicy ingredients; rice is fried with green chilies, and even ‘mild' curries can be very spicy.
As a result, if you want to keep your spice experience in Goa to a minimum, you must be very specific when ordering food in restaurants.
Order a side dish of cool yoghurt to help you digest your meal, and have a spare bottle of water with you at all times.

6 coffee flavors you must try
Team coffee or team tea? Isn’t this a question that can very well start a war? I certainly think it can, people who are addicted to coffee or tea have ample of reasons justifying why their beverage is the best.
Tumblr media
Anyways, if you are a coffee lover, you must be on a lookout for new flavors that you can try, and make at home. If you are in Delhi, these places sell the best coffee, and their flavors are amazing, and you must try them.
Before we get into that, there is a new method of drinking coffee, that you should know of-coffee pods.
Coffee pods are a biodegradable pouch that has coffee beans in them. They are not new, but are gaining popularity as they are easy to carry, are eco-friendly, and you can find amazing pods flavors. So, try them if you are looking for something new. Now, let’s move on to the amazing coffee flavors that you can drink in Delhi.
1.   Filter coffee
Filter coffee is one flavor that not everyone can get right. Often the South-Indian places get it right in flavor and taste.
But if you are in Delhi, you must try the filter coffee at Carnatic café and Sarvana Bhawan. They have a great smokey filter coffee that is just the right amount of sweet and not that hot.
2.   Coffee Sangria
If you love red wine and coffee, you need to try this drink. You can get this drink in Perch, a wine and coffee bar in Delhi. This coffee sangria is made using red wine, in-house brewed coffee mixed with few juices. It has a great taste and a perfect gift for a person who loves wine and coffee.
Other coffee flavors to try here are Caramel Bean and Coffee Shrub.
3.   Iced coffee in Vietnamese style
At Jugmug Thela, you can get one of the creamiest coffee named Vietnamese iced coffee. It is strong, sweet, and creamy with a strong coffee taste. The place is perfect to chill, read a book, and enjoy a nice cup of coffee.
4.   Espresso-0-Spritzer
At the Espress-o-Ville, you can taste a weird but amazing style of coffee. It is a mixture of watermelon, rose, espresso, and soda. It is a refreshing coffee drink that will surely mesmerize you.
5.   Caramel Macchiato
One of the best drinks on a cold wintery night, is a big cup of hot coffee and at Sibang’s bakery, you can get that. Their caramel macchiato is a warm and sweet blend of coffee that will surely make you feel cozy and amazing.
6.   Turkish coffee
At the brew room in Delhi, you can get lots of options for coffee. It is heaven for a coffee lover. Here you can find some of the most relish coffee drinks like Drip coffee or the Aeropress coffee and so on. But they are most famous for their Turkish coffee is authentic and experimental so, maybe not everyone will like it, but you must give it a try. It is brewed using cardamom and Arabica powder in an ibrik container.
Whoa! So much coffee talk is making me crave coffee, so while you decide which place to go first in Delhi, I am going to make myself a nice cup of coffee.

Well, procrastination and lots of traveling have gotten the best of me so here is my summary from essentially all of October:
Manali (Photos 1&2): Right after returning from my school trip to Ahmedabad and Gujarat I embarked on a long-weekend solo adventure to Manali. After a twisting and turning 14hr mountain bus ride I made it to “India’s Mountain Bike Capital”. Given this I really had only one goal for the weekend: to bike as much as possible. Delhi has often made me feel restricted and this escape to the mountains was just what I needed. Although, home to really only one real trail I managed to have two decent days of riding around the town. On top of this, I ate great food at Dylan’s Toasted and Roasted (a Bob Dylan themed cafe) and Tibetan food at Chopstick’s Restaurant. I also made friends with Naveen, owner of the Himalayan bike bar, and I would recommend him and his shop to anyone interested in biking in India.
Delhi: I came home from Manali for about a week and a half of school before embarking on more explorations. However, this short time back in the city allowed me to get back on the field with my friends for Wednesday and Sunday night soccer. I didn’t know then, but, the picture above was probably my last match in Delhi (thanks air pollution...). I also had the chance to grab dinner with my Indian Fulbright friends (Abby, Natasha, and Narayan) who were in Delhi for a few days for mid-year training.
Darjeeling (photos 4 and 5): On the 18th, I left Delhi again for leg one of my final big trip in India to Darjeeling, Kolkata, and Sunderbans, and this time I wasn’t traveling alone. Mary Buford offered to join me as part of her own trip in India. We spend 4 days in Darjeeling touring tea estates, drinking tea, going to museums, eating great food, biking, watching sunrises, and generally exploring Darjeeling. I think we drank over 20 different types of tea, and I am thoroughly sold on the statement that tea from Darjeeling is the “champagne of teas” or as I read in a tea book, maybe champagne is the Darjeeling tea of wine. Anyways, besides tea, I really loved Darjeeling for the Tibetan Buddist influence including many temples and stupas and a museum all about Tibet with items from the Dalai Lama. Also, Darjeeling has a very rich mountaineering history, including being home to Tenzing Norgay, who made the first ascent of Everest with Sir Edmund Hillary in 1953. I happened upon a copy of Tenzing’s autobiography and, I would highly recommend it if you have any interest in mountaineering or mountaineering history. Darjeeling is also home to the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, which Tenzing became the director of, which has a great museum also.
Kolkata: We made our way south from Darjeeling to Kolkata, which was my first visit to an Indian megalopolis beyond Delhi. Kolkata felt distinctly more colonial than Delhi, which isn’t surprising given the fact that it was the capital for the British (As shown by the palace dedicated to Queen Victoria in photo 6). We explored Kolkata for a day and had great Bengali food, however, Kolkata was really just a jumping-off point for Sunderbans.
Sunderbans: This mangrove forest shared by India and Bangladesh is the largest mangrove tiger habitat in the world and home to 80+ tigers. We signed up for a day-long tour with hopes to maybe get lucky and see a tiger (despite there being a lot of tigers in this area, they are very rarely seen). Our trip began with an adventure as we had to navigate around a broken-down truck that shut down the only road and stopped an entire village. However, we made it to the boat (photo 7) and had a great cruise around Sunderbans. We saw many kingfishers and deer, but sadly no tigers. It was a good adventure nonetheless.
Delhi: We went back to Delhi for one day so that I could attend my school's Annual Day function: a celebration of all the achievements of the school and the students over the past year. It was quite the show and the dances, songs, and theatrical performances were great. It was really fun to see my students outside of the classroom setting!
Rishikesh: After Annual Day, Mary Buford and I set out north to Rishikesh to escape the Delhi pollution for Diwali. Rishikesh is known as the yoga capital of the world and is famous due to the fact that the Beatles came here to study meditation and write almost the entire White Album in the late 1960s. Rishikesh was by far the most touristy place I have been in India and maybe this is just due to my visits to other places being during offseason. However, walking around Laxman Jhula felt as if I was walking around Brooklyn. Here men with dreads and yoga teachers from all over the world eat smoothie bowls and invite you to their Ashram to align your chakras. In many ways, it felt a lot like my time in northern Thailand. However, we were able to escape the Whole Foodies and explore around Rishikesh hiking to a waterfall and different temples. Although I will admit the cafes were all very good, even it did feel like I was in a hipster Whole Foods enclave.
So now that I am back in Delhi, my big travels in India are over. I am wrapping up all my work here at school this week and early next week, and Mary Buford is off to explore Agra and Rajasthan. I will add more pictures that I couldn’t fit in this post shortly.
As I get ready to head back to the US I will post some concluding thoughts about my time in India and start looking forward to what is to come in Malaysia. However, right now all I am dreaming of is some clean air!
Best,
Zack
