Changing Industries: Artificial Intelligence's Effect on India's Economy
Changing Industries: Artificial Intelligence's Effect on India's Economy
Everywhere in the world, artificial intelligence (AI) is changing economies, and India is no exception. India has one of the highest growth rates. It's at a pivotal point. Here, AI could change many industries. It could raise productivity and spur economic growth. This blog examines the ways AI is affecting India's economy. It focuses on the key industries that are going through big changes.
Overview of AI and Its Potential Economic Benefits
AI comprises several technologies. These include robotics, computer vision, machine learning, and natural language processing. These technologies give machines the ability to do things. For example, they can do speech recognition, decision-making, and problem-solving. These are tasks that normally need human intelligence.
India's economy is especially well-positioned to gain from AI because of its broad and varied manufacturing base. AI adoption can raise production. It does this by cutting costs and boosting efficiency. It also creates new business models. In India, AI could boost GDP by $957 billion by 2035, or 1.3 percentage points. This is according to a NASSCOM assessment.
Artificial Intelligence in Important Sectors
1. Farming
Nearly half of all workers in India are employed in agriculture, which continues to be a pillar of the nation's economy. Precision agriculture uses sensors, drones, and AI. It monitors crop health, optimizes resource use, and forecasts yields. AI-driven solutions are revolutionizing old farming methods.
CropIn and SatSure are two examples of AI-powered technologies. They give farmers real-time insights and tips to help them make wise choices. The technologies can increase crop output. They can also decrease waste and boost farmer profits. This can support rural development and food security.
2. Access to medical care is uneven.
A lack of healthcare personnel is another issue. The Indian healthcare industry must deal with both. AI has the ability to improve patient outcomes, tailor treatment, and improve diagnostics in order to solve these problems. The systems are made by Niramai and Qure.ai. They use machine learning to find diseases like tuberculosis and cancer. Also, AI-driven telemedicine makesremote consultations possible. It increases healthcare access for residents of underserved and rural areas.
3. Production
India's economy depends on manufacturing. Artificial intelligence is essential to modernizing it. AI is entering production to boost productivity. It will cut idle time and ensure quality.
AI-powered robotics and automation are used for inspections. They are used for everything from quality to assembly. Businesses like Mahindra & Mahindra and Tata Steel use AI. They use it to predict equipment breakdowns and plan maintenance. This reduces downtime and improves operations.
4. Online E-Commerce Industries
Online and Retail India's retail and e-commerce industries are expanding quickly because to rising internet usage and shifting consumer tastes. AI is transforming this industry by improving customer service, streamlining the supply chain, and providing personalized buying experiences. Recommendation engines driven by AI examine consumer behavior and preferences to make product recommendations, which boosts revenue and client happiness. AI is used by businesses such as Flipkart and Amazon India to estimate demand, manage inventory, and optimize logistics, all of which contribute to on-time product delivery.
5. Financial Services
Financial Services In India, the financial services industry was among the first to use AI. Thanks to its ability to detect fraud, improve client experiences, and improve risk management, artificial intelligence is revolutionizing the banking, insurance, and investing sectors. AI chatbots are being used by banks such as ICICI and HDFC to offer round-the-clock customer care. Meanwhile, AI algorithms are being used to analyze a variety of data sources to assist with credit scoring and loan approvals. AI is used by insurtech companies to evaluate risks, customize insurance, and speed up the claims process.
The Function of Government Initiatives and Startups
The thriving startup scene in India is one of the main forces behind AI innovation. Innovative AI solutions are being developed by numerous startups in a variety of industries. Through programs like the creation of AI research centers and the National AI Strategy, the government is also actively promoting the adoption of AI.
The policy think tank of India, NITI Aayog, has played a pivotal role in advancing the advancement of AI research and development. The government's investment in AI infrastructure, skill development initiatives, and partnerships with industry players to build a strong AI ecosystem demonstrate its interest on AI.
Obstacles and Things to Think About Even though artificial intelligence (AI) has enormous promise, there are a number of issues that must be resolved before India may fully profit from it:
1. Deficit in Ability In India, there is a severe lack of qualified AI specialists. It will take coordinated efforts to improve AI education and training initiatives at the industrial and academic levels to close this gap.
2. Security and Privacy of Data Since AI uses a lot of data, data security and privacy are important issues. Gaining the support and confidence of the public requires implementing strong data protection laws and moral AI practices.
3. Establishment of Infrastructure
Widespread adoption of AI depends on building the cloud computing, data centers, and high-speed internet infrastructure that are required.
4. The Law Enforcement System
It is crucial to provide a transparent and encouraging regulatory framework for AI in order to promote innovation and solve ethical and risk issues.
India's AI Future
AI has a bright future in India and has the potential to significantly advance both social progress and economic growth. AI technology will continue to advance and be more sophisticatedly integrated into numerous sectors, which will present both new opportunities and difficulties.
1. Intelligent agents and intelligent cities
India's smart city development will be greatly aided by artificial intelligence. AI may improve urban living conditions by making cities more sustainable and habitable, which can benefit anything from trash management and traffic control to energy efficiency and public safety.
2. Artificial Intelligence in Education
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has the potential to revolutionize education by improving administrative efficiency, personalizing learning experiences, and granting access to high-quality education in remote locations. Byju's and other AI-powered educational platforms are already having a big influence.
3. Workforce transformation and AI
Workforce change is an inevitable consequence of AI's widespread adoption. AI may make certain jobs obsolete, but it will also open up new job prospects. It is critical to implement reskilling and upskilling projects to prepare the workforce for this shift.
Conclusion
The effects of AI on the Indian economy are extensive and profound. AI is boosting economic growth, increasing efficiency, and improving quality of life by changing important industries like manufacturing, financial services, healthcare, agriculture, and retail. However, resolving issues with infrastructure, skills, data protection, and regulatory frameworks is necessary to fully utilize AI.
India is about to experience an economic revolution powered by AI. AI has the potential to be a potent engine for equitable and sustainable growth, advancing India's future prosperity with the correct policies and cooperative efforts from the public and private sectors.

Future Scope of MBA in Human Resources in India – Geeta University
A substantial percentage of students choose different courses under the MBA programme, which is one of the several degrees available. One of the most promising and well-organized areas of corporate administration is human resources (HR). Human resource management is the process of controlling the resources' availability and effectively utilising them. It entails selecting the best candidates, preparing them for the workplace, and creating initiatives to inspire and encourage them. Any organization's workers and desire to have cooperative, talented individuals are its greatest assets. The demand for an MBA in HR is now quite high and is probably just going to go higher. A two-year, full-time MBA programmed in human resource management is offered by Geeta University. The finest combo is an MBA in HR from Geeta University, and here's why:-
Career scope and job profiles:
As the foundation of every organisation, HR specialists are in high demand in both the public and commercial sectors. An HR administrator must make sure that all operations, including hiring of staff, their settlement, benefits, pay, training, and development, are carried out in accordance with business policy. Staffing director, technical recruiter, employee relations manager, director of HR training and development, organisation development and change consultant, employment and placement manager, etc. are the primary career profiles in India with an MBA in HR. Background information on the roles of human resources is offered at Geeta University from both a theoretical and practical standpoint. Students investigate the key components of HR management and how it contributes to organisational objectives.
Diverse specializations:
The need for HR specialists who can provide advice on organisational improvements is growing as corporate rivalry intensifies and legal changes become more complicated. The most recent Geeta University curriculum offers a range of modern HR courses and training programmes. Students do a six-month internship during their second year to get practical experience. The specialisation courses include topics including talent acquisition, cross-cultural management, team dynamics at work, international HRM, compensation and benefits, global and virtual teams, learning and development, and technology in HR. They also cover the legislative framework regulating HR.
Packages:-
The benefits packages provided by the employers are the main draw for an MBA in HR. 18% of businesses want to hire new MBA graduates in HR, according to the corporate recruiters' study 2021. An MBA in HR typically earns 6.42 LPA, however with experience and knowledge, this package may increase to 24-35 LPA. Numerous factors, like firm location, employment experience, academic background, etc., affect how much money students make. Finance, banking, automation, software, and information technology are the leading sectors for HR recruiting. IBM, Trivago, Paytm, Tata Steel, Wipro, Tech Mahindra, Reliance Industries, Juspay, and more companies hire at Geeta University. Railways, IT, healthcare, sports, aviation, and other government-sponsored industries are among those seeking to acquire HR specialists.
Skills required for HR:-
To work in human resources, you need to have a specific set of talents. The professional and interpersonal relationships that an HR manager has with their staff are both shaped by these abilities. Effective communication, conflict resolution, flexibility, change management, negotiating skills, planning prowess, and supervisory calibre are some of these qualities. The link between an organisation and its employees is provided by HR generalists. They must resolve issues with employee salaries, leaves of absence, promotions, and other concerns. In this situation, an HR professional's communication and negotiating abilities are highly valued. HR must develop their abilities through time and with the help of staff members if they are to support the efficient operation of an organization.
Job Satisfaction:-
The psychology of a worker in an organization has a direct impact on job happiness. Employees who are happy strive to perform to the best of their ability. Every worker seeks a healthy work-life balance and rapid professional advancement. Challenges, job stability, a high wage, workplace recognition, professional advancement, and a healthy work-life balance all contribute to job satisfaction. HR managers give their staff members work pleasure in addition to receiving it themselves. The engagement of employees is handled by HR. They look for the needs of the workers' motivation and morale. When someone goes above and beyond expectations, they congratulate them and acknowledge their accomplishments. Everyone is kept content and pleased in their work by HR. Since "happy workers are productive workers," as HR students are taught, they also take care of an employee's emotional requirements on a professional level and encourage teamwork.
A skilled HR administrator must have strong interpersonal skills. The most difficult aspect to manage is human capital, and if a person has good people skills, they can handle this job well and love dealing with people. The human resources divisions of businesses are essential because they support both employee happiness and productivity growth. Without an HR manager, no firm in the world can run. A person can considerably advance personally with an MBA in HR. "Train people well enough so they can go, treat them well enough so they don't want to," Sir Richard Branson once stated. To create a successful and productive workplace, every HR professional has to have the ability to know when to take action and when to step aside. The ideal combination of theoretical and applied knowledge, combined with excellent job placements, qualified employees, and qualified teachers, can be found at Geeta University. Geeta University is the ideal alternative for any student looking to study an MBA in Human Resource management as a result of all of this.

Useful insights on water management in steel plants
Although the steel industry uses large amounts of water, very little of that water is either reused or released back to the original source. As water is the most important natural resource on the planet, efforts should be made by steel plants to preserve water supplies. Here we share with you some economical and ecological solutions for the sustainable use of water in steel plants
1. Revist water-intensive processes: One of the best ways to conserve water is to reduce water intake. Revisiting water-intensive processes will give steel plants an opportunity to identify areas where better water consumption practices can be implemented. Efforts should be made to optimize processes that involve water consumption. The following factors must be looked at for efficient water management:
● The type and combination of cooling systems
● The ideal cooling temperature
● Water pressure for each plant unit
● The necessary water quantity and quality
2. Reuse water: The most effective way to reduce water intake is by reusing the water. The cooling and cleaning operations require large amounts of water. The increased consumption can also be attributed to evaporation that takes place during the process. Instead of using freshwater, all other possible water sources must be considered for use. This could be rainwater, treated water and even waste and sewage water. By using alternative sources of water, steel plants can ensure that water consumption is managed properly. The reuse of water will require initial investments and high operational costs in newer and better technologies. But once these technologies are up and running, the benefits for the steel plants will be immense in the long run.
3. Adopt zero discharge policy: Managing water is not just about consumption but also about disposal. Exploring the proper treatment of water is important for disposal. Steel plants should adopt ‘zero discharge’ policies --- this means they must ensure that the water that they are releasing back into rivers and other water bodies is clean.
Note: The water discharge can significantly raise the temperature of the rivers and water bodies. This can affect aquatic life. Efforts must be made to limit the water temperatures.
If you are an MSME which buys hot rolled steel, cold rolled steel or coated steel for manufacturing, buy it from brands that strongly believe in water conservation. Tata Steel, for instance, discourages the use of groundwater and has developed other water resources for industrial as well as human use within its operations. When you buy steel products from brands such as Tata Astrum, Tata Steelium and Galvano, you not only get high quality steel sheets and bars but you also get engineering support and opportunity to be part of Ecafez, a space where emerging corporates connect, learn, share and grow.

Top reasons why eLearning will transform the mining industry
The global mining industry has reached a high point in an upward trend in its adopting of eLearning as a tool for training. Within the next few years, eLearning will undoubtedly become the industry standard. We have good reason to believe this and have outlined these reasons below, but first, some context on the years that brought us to this point need to be given.
History of eLearning in Mining Industry
eLearning in the mining industry has not been a story of instant success and widespread progress – both in India and abroad. The benefits had not fully been taken advantage of and there were many reasons for this somewhat sluggish adoption pace.
Some misconceptions existed and a lack of information about eLearning – possibly due to eLearning providers’ own ineffective marketing strategies – had influenced a reluctance in the mining industry to explore eLearning.
It has been perceived as being extremely expensive and considered too high-brow for the mining industry. Others were also reluctant to change from their current training – facilitator-based training – and incorrectly saw eLearning as incompatible with this approach.
But all of this is about to change. There are five reasons that eLearning will pave the way for training in the mining industry.
Maximizing production and minimizing operating costs
The global downturn in commodity prices, resulting in staff reduction and costs, has presented an urgent need to streamline training protocols. eLearning will prove to be the most productive and cost-effective solution for this pressured environment.
Measurable progress
eLearning offers the finite measurement of company’s training practices. Each individual employee’s training experiences and progress can be tracked, therefore becoming invaluable in recognizing vocational blind spots and fostering comprehensive learning practices that improve production efficiency, health and safety and human resources criteria.
Consistent content
In its content, eLearning offers a sustainable and consistent solution. No matter the location of the learners, they are all provided with the same content. This consistency is absolutely crucial in essential operations under Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) training which protects the lives of the people on the mine.
A great advantage is also the ease in updating training programs on an ongoing basis, with version control no longer an industry bugbear.
Distance learning
Distance learning has become more and more desirable and eLearning provides the perfect solution. The learner can study and be assessed no matter where in the world they might find themselves.
Advances in technology also allow access through offline players – for learning in the field or “on the go” – that can synchronize and update once re-connected online.
Effective costing
eLearning programs have become more competitively priced. Also, the long-term benefits of eLearning can now easily be demonstrated. The reduction in personnel costs and an increase in company return on investment makes eLearning a more attractive option.
The Future
Here at Tata Steel Digie-Shala, we have positioned ourselves to become the supplier of choice for quality eLearning programs in the global mining industry. Our benefited users, empowered learners and our growing library of programs have demonstrated a successful initiative in the mining industry over the last four years.
