"What do you mean I'm being transferred!" You shout to your manager
"My supervisor has requested that you be transferred to the branch closer to her for more... direct communication." He says. His eyes are wide, a small tremor takes over his right hand. For a former Army NCO to be that scared, she must be something.
"Have I done anything wrong?" You say.
"No, in fact you've been the best worker here. That's why she wants you."
You pinch your nose. "Is there anyway out of this?"
"I'm afraid she's made it exceptionally clear that there isn't."
"Fine. What's the address."
"I'll write it down."

You arrive at the office the next morning. The first leaves on the trees are turning red. It's luckily a shorter commute than your old office, but you're still pissed. You had climbed up from the pit of internships into a cozy position and office. You were the first trans, no scratch that, woman to get into management. This was bullshit.
You step in. The front desk is empty. You sit down and wait. And wait. And wait. Finally, a blonde worker passes by. The first thing you notice is that her outfit is less than professional. She wears a skirt that barely goes below her legs. Her stockings hug her tights very tight. Her blouse is basically open, showing off her admittedly very beautiful tits in a pair of lingerie. If you weren't so pissed you'd be turned on. You're glad you wore slacks today.
"Hey," You call to her. "Do you know where..." You check the slip of paper in your hand. "Miss Maverne's office is?"
The woman looks at you. Her make up is ruined, lipstick smudged, mascara spilling down her face. Her hair is messy. You could swear that you can see the outlines of hands on the sides of her face. Her pupils eclipse her blue eyes. She looks as if she barely knew where she was. After a long pause of blank stares at you, she says, "Do you mean Mistress?"
"Uh..." You're paralyzed by the absurdity of the situation. Have you stumbled onto a porn set by accident?
After a long minute of the girl thinking where you could almost hear the AOL noises playing in her head, she perks up and says, "Oh, you must be new here! I'll take you to Mistress!"
Her hand shooks out and drags you through a set of doors and into the office. You look around. You see many workers with the same blown out eyes, dazed looks, and slutty office wear around you. All women. One of them is drooling at their desk while colors flash on their computer. You wonder what the hell is going on here. You arrive at a large set of doors. "Here she is!"
A secretary sits at a desk next to the doors. She's wearing what couldn't even be charitably called an outfit. Just a few strips of cloth prevent her from being fully nude. On the exposed parts are very visible hickies.
"I brought a new recruit for Mistress!" The blonde hair girl says
The secretary pouts "But Mistress isn't accepting anyone till..."
"That's quite alright secretary, thank you." A woman's voice says. You look to your right, then up. The woman is at least 6'2", and she's wearing heels. Her towering over you is an understatement. She is wearing the only proper work outfit of slacks, a blouse, and jacket. Still, there is an aura of lust around her, like she could wear anything and still look sexy in it. Two grey eyes pierce into your soul. She grins.
"You're both very good girls, you can leave now" She says. The two girls shutter and wander off. "Now, Miss Claire Hall, would you please step into my office."
You're led in and sit down in a very comfortable chair. Miss Maverne continues to look into your very soul and says
"You're probably wondering why you're here right now."
"Yeah I am, what the fuck is this?"
"This is your new office for the foreseeable future. I picked you because you're special. It's not often a woman rises the ranks of this business."
"Thanks?"
"Good Girl."
A blush strikes your cheeks. You're really glad you wore slacks today. That compliment shouldn't have hit that hard.
"Now did your old boss give you any information about your new position?"
"N...no" you stutter out, still in minor shock from the compliment. "Just the address and your name."
"Wonderful, well, you noticed that the front desk was empty right?"
"Yeah?"
"You'll be working as the receptionist there."
"What!" The rage breaks through your flustered mind like a hammer. "May I remind you that I have years of experience in programming, administration, planning, and managing under my belt?"
"So does every other worker here. You might've been a big fish in a little pond there, but here you're puny, and you'll start where you deserve." She stands up, and you can't help but internalize her words a small bit. Still your indignation burns it.
"I'm leaving. I don't deserve this humiliation." You get up and walk to the door.
"Stop." You freeze stiff.
"Walk back." You walk back.
"Sit and stare into my eyes." You sit back down into the extremely comfortable chair and stare up into her eyes. They looked grey before but now hints of green and blue scatter in. You can't help but dive into them, trying to discover their true color. It feels like you're sinking deeper and deeper into an ocean of warm homey
"Aren't my eyes pretty?" She says.
"Yuh." The words don't move right and come out wrong.
"Don't you want to keep having the privilege to stare into my eyes?" Her voice is so beautiful.
This time the words don't even come out, you just nod.
She pulls out a contract and pen. "Then sign this."
You grab the pen but it falls out of your hand. "Oops! Let me help." She says in that musical voice. She takes the pen and places it in your hand, then pulls it to the paper. She guides it into a passable signature, then smiles.
"Good Girl." You shutter.
"Right, so first things first, your breast enhancement surgery is next week."
Sanity floats up above the honey ocean. "What?"
"And that outfit is not approved. At least the four top buttons of your blouse must be unbuttoned. Pants are not allowed, only skirts that are above the mid thigh."
"Excuse me?"
"It's all in your contract."
"I didn't sign this!"
"Is that not in fact your signature on the paper?"
You look down and see a perfect replica of your signature. Fury boils in you.
"Fuck that! I'm leaving!" You get up.
"Where are you going Miss Hall?"
"Escaping this sex cult."
"Miss Hall, this is your 90 day review."
"What do you mean, I've only been here for..." You look out the window, it's snowing. You look down at your new pair of tits. Your blouse barely holds them. A cold breeze tickle your thighs. "What have you done to me?"
"Nothing." She says. "Now sit and listen." You crumble back into your chair.
"Now, both staff and guests have highly rated your performance with them in the last 90 days. You've really proven to be a capable fit for your position."
You feel heat building up in you and you don't know why.
"Good Girl." She says. Those two words hit like a truck. You almost moan. She smiles. She's smiling... about you! Excitement flutters in your chest. Wait.
"Something's wrong."
"What's wrong, Ms Cumdump?" Mistress says "Is it something you'd like to bring up for your 6 month review?"
"That name for a start, that's not my name."
Mistress sighs. "This again... Then what name would it be?"
"You know what it is it's..." You pause. Why can't you remember your name? You dig in deep but find nothing. Why can't you remember your name?
"Don't overwork that pathetic little brain of yours sweety." Mistress says. "Just check your name tag."
Oh right! It's that easy. Mistress is so smart. You look down and see your uniform. Lingerie with the required derogatory text sharpied across your body. You pull up your lanyard and read "Hypnoslut Cumdump, Receptionist and Fucktoy."
Ah, it was that easy. Wait, weren't you just in a blouse? You look up to Mistress. God she's so tall when you're on your knees. The hot late summer air sticks to your nude body. It's not amazing but receptionists aren't allowed to wear clothes and the rules are the rules. You stare into Mistress's pretty eyes and she stands and looks down at you. Mistress says
"Is there anything you want to tell me before we begin your first year performance test, Ms Cumdump?"
You try to think of what you were going to say. But your brain is soooooooooo empty that you can't remember. Probably about how beautiful she is. Yeah, that's it.
"You're sooooooooo pretty Mistress." You say.
She smiles. "Thank you, now..." She unzips her slacks and pulls out her massive cock. You're already drooling. She stands there, taunting you with it, before saying "Begin."

I have been seeing a bunch of buzz recently online about a possible "decline in value" of the ivy league+ degree - Nate Silver didn't start it but he certainly accelerated it. And while there is nothing robust you do see things like surveys of hiring manager opinions out there to suggest its possible, its not a crazy idea even if its far from proven. So assuming its real, why would it be happening?
1: This discourse is obviously happening because of the recent protests at top US schools - essentially its the idea that elite students are hyperpolitical, coddled, and out of touch with reality. This causal path should be very, very silly. The vast, vast majority of students at Columbia are not protesting. They don't really care about this topic! Sure, if asked, they agree Israel Bad Right Now, but otherwise they are busy with finals and job apps. This is of course equally true at most other schools, its just not a mass movement in that way (protesting to be clear rarely is). This is a specific instance of the general trap of selection bias - the visible students aren't the median ones.
Stacked on top of that is the second level of selection bias - the median protestor is not a business major or engineer! They are exactly the kind of students for whom being a politically engaged activist is *good* for their career, not bad, or at least neutral. Schools produce a large diversity of career outcomes, and those students self-select on how they spend their time, there is no "median" student to observe really.
And ofc all of this has to rest on the foundational reality that people are products of their context - jobless 20 year old's surrounded by young peers protest a bunch, that is what that context produces. The large majority of them will become mortgage-paying white collar workers by the time they are 30, this identity will not stick with them. If they become political activists it will, sure! But if you are the hiring manager for Palantir this isn't going to be the trend for your hires. There are "politically liable" hires out there but you aren't going to predict them via the sorting algorithm of "was at Columbia in 2024", that is for sure.
Now, as much as this is a silly idea, humanity are zeitgeist creatures - I can't actually reject the idea that, despite it being silly, hiring managers might use this moment to feel like they are "over" the Ivy League and start dismantling the privileged place their applications currently get. Cultural tipping points are vibes-based, and amoung elites (unlike the masses, who don't care much) Israel/Palestine has an awful lot of tense vibes.
2: Still, I don't think this is explaining those survey results people are throwing around, and I don't think its explained (very much at least) by the general "woke uni" trends of the past half decade. It is instead downstream of wider trends.
There was a time where companies really did want "the smart guy". You could major in English at Harvard, write a good thesis on Yeats, and be off to the trading desk in Chambers St two weeks after graduation. Those days are over - for complex reasons we won't get into - and nowadays people expect their new hires to be as close to experts in the field as they can manage. Students have internships, consulting clubs, capstone projects with real clients, specialized sub majors, the works. These are all ways of saying "signaling quality" has gotten more legible and more specific over time. Why would I choose a Harvard English major over a University of Illinois finance major who did a research internship with our specific Chicago firm on midwest agricultural derivates markets? Students like that exist by the bucketful now, and the Ivys cannot monopolize them. Partially because they choose not to; Columbia could actually say fuck it and make its school 90% finance majors, but they don't want that, they specifically recruit intellectually diverse students. Which means State School finance types will fill the remaining slots slots.
The other reason they can't monopolize is much simpler - numbers. The US has way more "elite" jobs today than it did in the past. Programmers and their adjacencies are the biggest growth sector, but everything from doctors to analysts to lawyers is all up up up. And do you know what isn't up? Undergraduate enrollment at elite schools! Columbia's has grown by like 10% over the past 20 years; Harvard's is essentially unchanged. For, again, reasons, these schools have found the idea of doubling or tripling their undergraduate enrollment, despite ballooning applications, impossible. Which means of course Microsoft can't hire from Stanford alone. So they don't, and they have learned what other schools deliver talent, and no longer need Stanford alone. The decline of Ivy Power is in this sense mathematical - if a signal of quality refuses to grow to meet demand, of course other signals will emerge.
I therefore personally think, while minor, the Ivy+ schools are experiencing declining status, have been for a while, and will continue to do so (though there are offsetting trends not mentioned here btw). But its structural way more than cultural.

Internship recruiting season has begun for some large game publishers and developers. This means that a number of internship opportunities for summer 2025 have been posted and will be collecting applicants. Internships are a great way to earn some experience in a professional environment and to get mentorship from those of us in the trenches. If you're a student and you have an interest in game development as a career, you should absolutely look into these.

WINTERDAD AU #1
(part one because this got way too long. this is essentially the plot of an old fic i started back in 2020 and what would've happened of i'd continued it. i might try and write it again one day, perhaps, if i don't give up after 2 chapters. anyway here we go)
- mary parker was a shield agent when she met the winter soldier, both were on a mission. they fought, but never got as far as mortally wounding each other. mary would always slip away. it was like a game. bucky had been kept out the ice for a few weeks at that point, running a long job. but the longer he's out, the more he starts to remember little pieces, who he used to be.
- mary feels pity for him, seeing through the stone cold image hydra forged for him, to the person within. they fight. but then they also talk. they keep seeing each other while bucky scouts. eventually one thing leads to another and they develop a relationship of sorts.
- mary later discovers she's pregnant but bucky never finds out. he's taken back, wiped and put under the ice once more. mary quits her job at shield so she can provide for her kid and keep them safe. knowing full well if anyone in shield or hydra caught wind that she was carrying the winter soldiers child, they'd never be safe.
- she's sad that bucky disappeared again, she knows hydra likely had him wiped and iced again. but she moves on, meeting richard soon after who she tells she's expecting a son, that the father disappeared without a word (technically not a lie) he tells her he'll love him like he's his regardless.
- when her son is born she names him peter james parker (during the few weeks they met, the last time they talked, bucky ended up remembering his first name, mary wanted peter to have at least a piece of him)
- peter ends up looking a LOT like bucky. he has the same shade of dark brown hair, facial structure which shows as he grows. but he has mary's eyes)
- the plane crash was really just an unfortunate incident. peter still goes to live with aunt may and uncle ben when he's seven. and then things go as they usually do in canon. the avengers form, yada yada all that stuff, you know the drill.
- when he's 14 peter is bitten by the radioactive spider. BUT. an important detail here is that due to the expiermentation bucky was subjected to by hydra and the enhancements which altered his genes, some of that, though remaining dormant, passed onto peter. but it didn't really do anything, it was just there. but it did keep him alive after the spider bite. without those enhancements in his blood peter would've died. instead, he gained his powers.
- uncle ben still gets shot, which as usual influences peter to become spider-man. and months after tony still comes along and recruits him to fight in germany. peter does.
- when he briefly faces bucky ("you have a metal arm? that is AWESOME, dude!") neither know so that also goes as normal. bucky is bewhildered by the kid who managed to block a hit with so much force behind it, while also shocked to know that he was just that, a kid.
- now one vastly different thing here is that while the avengers do split for a good year, steve and tony eventually talk and make amends. the avengers reassemble, deciding that they need to put the world before their feud. they're not on super good terms, but they tolerate each other. tony still refuses to forgive bucky.
- homecoming happens during the time where things are still rocky between the avengers so peter still deals with vulture alone. but he does see tony more often, stopping by for lab days to work on his suit among other things, to keep up the "internship" charade. tony grows fond of him, though he doesn't admit it.
its post homecoming where things start to go wrong.

Hawks X Reader | Friends To Lover
A/N: Lemme know if you want a second part too I was thinking that one could be a smut.
You two first met when he was just a sidekick, and you had a PR internship in the same agency. Since you two were the youngest in the agency you both got along. You used to say from the very beginning that he will be a top hero one day but he'd always brush you off because for him the goal was to help people.
The best part of the day for both of you was when you both will go out for soda during breaks. It was a sweat escape.
Later you left the agency for a better opportunity and you both drifted apart. You were in a good position now.
One of your friends shared a job vacancy with you for a hero agency. You had a good experience working with them so you thought it was worth a shot. But you got GENUINELY excited when you saw it was Hawk's agency.
Doesn't matter if you'll get it or not you were happy to be able to see him again. But to your disappointment, he wasn't there when you went in for the interview.
But you got in. Usually, it takes up to 2-3 rounds of interviews to get in but you got the job just by interviewing once. You were surprised but more than that happy to be able to work in a top agency and get to meet him!
On the first day of the job, you were a bit nervous. You weren't sure if he'll even recognize you or not. It's been quite a few years after all and he is a top hero now.
As you entered the office you could see that everyone was settling in when one of the HR helped you settle in your cabin. After a few minutes, someone came to inform you that Hawks is asking for you in his office. You couldn't help but smile and went straight to his office speed walking, trying not to jog with excitement.
As you knocked, "Come in" you recognized that voice. You entered the room with a smile and said "Hey!" it was rather informal. He looked a little surprised and uncomfortable. "Okay, the new recruit is cheerful. We could use that." Then he formally shook your hand.
It was so embarrassing! You felt like digging a hole and burying yourself in it, "Of course, he'll forget me. What was I thinking?" you thought to yourself as you sat in the chair in front of him not able to make any eye contact with him.
"Gotcha! You're still so easy to tease Y/N. Someone didn't grow up at all." he said now laughing. He was teasing you the whole time. "You're such an ass you know that! I almost felt like jumping off that window because of embarrassment" you said laughing and pointing to the window behind him.
"I would have caught you," he said as he winked at you. "Still the same lame flirting habit. And I'm the one who didn't grow up," you said rolling your eyes playfully. To which he just smiled.
"It's nice to meet you again," he said smiling at you as he soaked you in. You changed a lot and you both were not the same kids anymore. "Back at ya Hawks." you winked. Then you both chatted a little, and you went back to your desk after asking him to act professionally because you don't want your team to think that you got this position because of you. To which he obliged.
Days passed and you took on the role pretty nicely. You did talk to him but not as much as before. Now he was famous. If someone saw him having a soda with a random person it'd be a huge controversy and being his PR manager you'd have to take care of it.
"Hey stay back today." you got a text from Hawks. You agreed and stayed till everybody left. It was now just you and him in the office.
You walked into his office and said, "What's up?" as you leaned against the door frame.
"Aah it's been so long that you're working here and we didn't get to hang out. So I thought we can do it now. Hope you didn't have any special plans later." he said looking more exhausted than usual. "If you count going home and sleeping then yes heh. What happened to you? You look like you got hit by a bus." you said making your way into his office and sitting in the visitor's chair.
"Only if someone warned me before that being hero is more than fighting the bad guys," he said pointing to his paperwork. He looked very tired with bags under his eyes and hair all ruffled out.
"Let's go somewhere quiet for dinner?" he said keeping his head down on the table trying to catch some break. "You should sleep instead," you said now concerned about him. You remember him as the cheerful energetic boy and now look at him.
"Sleep won't do. I need some good company," he said lifting his head enough to see your reaction. "Okay but THEN you're going to sleep." you agreed knowing he is not the one to back down. "DEAL," he said as he stood up with a burst of energy.
You both ordered dinner and went to the roof of one of the tallest buildings in the city. It went so well. You could see he was more relaxed now. As he closed his eyes and took in the cold breeze. His hair danced with the wind and his feathers gave him a majestic look. You didn't remember him being good looking but now you understood why women are crazy about him.
"Don't stare for too long you might fall in love," he said with his eyes still closed and a smirk on his face. Yea you were staring at him for a long time. "Yea right," you said as you turned your head embarrassingly.
"Which reminds me are you dating anyone?" he asked in a rather curious tone to avoid his nervousness. You replied with a no. "Hmm. What happened to that blonde guy?" he asked trying to be as casual as possible.
"Well, he turned out to be a jerk you know what he did? I-" you paused watching him suspiciously, "I never told you about him. How did you know." Now HE was embarrassed. This whole time HE WAS KEEPING TABS ON YOU.
He tried to avoid the topic but you kept asking if he was keeping an eye on you the entire time then why did he never approach you? Finally, he answered," Okay fine! Jeez, you're stubborn. Well, I knew nothing good will come out of it. I was gaining popularity rather quickly and you know show bizz sucks so I didn't want to get you sucked into all of this. Also, I wasn't sure about one thing more." he finished his sentence there.
"Do you expect me not to ask what was THE THING? Come on hawks you play too much. What was it?" you asked almost whining.
"If I can stop myself from doing this." he leaned in and kissed your lips as he cupped one of your cheeks to pull you in. He was so soft, and warm, and sure smelled like some expensive cologne.
Since you didn't respond he pulled, "I'm sorry I shouldn't have done that."
"NOOO come back! God! Give me some buffer time to process it at the very least." you said as you pulled him back by this collar.
He smiled between the kiss as he deepened it even more. It was way better than he ever imagined it to be.

Today's (11/5/2024) Episode: Better Together
The launch of Watcher Tales had made Luigi into a Global Superstar, and he had every intention of keeping it that way!
To that end he continued creating and posting self promotional content, which came with the added bonus of maxing his Media Production skill.
Luigi decided to encourage Skye’s love of photography and farm good publicity for them both by helping Skye sell his best photos to the tabloids. “As a bonus” he told Noemi “Every photo they buy from our son is one less they’ll publish from those paparazzi plumholes!”
Of course, publishing intimate photos taken by his son in and around their island home had the side effect of broadcasting where Luigi lived.
When it came to the fans Luigi was, as always, kind. It still felt a bit overwhelming, but he decided as long as he could keep them outside the house the adoration of the public was a price he was willing to pay for fame. After all, the alternative was fading into obscurity, and he wanted no part of THAT!
He was much less thrilled when paparazzi invaded the family's nightly yoga session. He laid into the photographer, his harsh words and angry tone bringing his sensitive son to tears. When he saw Noemi usher the distraught Skye into the house, he cut off his rant with a terse “never come back here, or else!” and stomped inside to apologize to his family for his outburst.
That uncomfortable incident brought to light that Luigi was not as ready to be done with anger management therapy as he’d thought.
He had been finding his sessions with Dr. Valasquez less beneficial and had told Noemi that he was considering quitting. “I don’t know how much more she can teach me”. But that experience changed his tune, and he redoubled his effort to, as his wife put it “make the most of therapy”.
One thing Luigi knew: none of the fights he’d gotten into in his life had really been “worth it”. He was determined to break the cycle, one day at a time.
Luigi still struggled with his temper when he felt Sims had wronged him, but his reputation as a kind and helpful friend and co-worker was undisputed.
He got a chance to remind himself of the positive aspects of his nature when the first Foxbury intern from the program he and Professor Silva had established showed up for work.
Remembering his own internship at The Cantina Luigi didn’t hold back, pushing his young protégé hard to teach them as much as he could.
In the end the young sim proved they had a keen understanding of the game, suggesting ways the team could improve Luigi hadn’t even considered!
He thanked Coach Silva for sending such a fine recruit, and his old friend told him that the program was working out great for Foxbury too. The lure of internships with the Nation’s premier E-Sports teams had drawn more promising players to the university that semester and their team looked great.
Luigi’s intern and his old mentor weren’t the only sims he had the opportunity to help that spring.
He worked hard to encourage Skye to stay on top of his schooling, and his natural cheeriness helped counter his son’s own naturally gloomy nature.
Noemi also did her best to help Skye deal with the frequent bouts of sadness that plagued him. He resisted the idea of going to therapy himself, but she pulled from her own experiences to “sneak in” some self esteem exercises that she thought would be beneficial for him.
Even when they were both busy with work, the pair made sure that Skye enjoyed a warm, rich environment full of toys and animal friends.
All that positive reinforcement bore fruit, giving Skye the confidence he needed to work on improving himself.
In addition to his photography, he advanced to using the play kitchen to make some simple real foods, although few appealed to the refined palate he had inherited from his father. He also started practicing on the violin his grandfather had given him for Winterfest. It wasn’t his favorite activity, but he liked the classy look of the instrument and hoped to get good enough to play it for Grandpa Gilbert one day.
The achievement that made Skye’s parents proudest of him was his improved grades. He’d struggled at first, being unable to see his textbooks clearly and not used to sitting in a classroom for hours on end, but with his glasses and a little time he managed to turn things around, much to their delight.
Working through their struggles as a team helped Luigi and his family thrive in the new year.
They cherished each others company and support, being reminded by their success that everything was better together.

Trying to decipher Step by Step timeline
and failing.
This is just my takeaway from what we have seen so far. Lot of the timeframe I am assuming here are from their office work and Ae's pregnancy
episode 1: we learn Pat is a fresh recruit. It's only been a month since he joined Jian group so he is still in probationary period.
He has another 8 months till becomes a regular employee. Most company will keep their recruits in probationary period from anywhere between 2 months to a year. So in Jian Pat's probationary period is 9 months....like Ae's pregnancy
Side note: I never put this together but Pat did his internship at Ae and Beam's company.
Episode 2: A lot has happened. Pat is not having the best time with new Manager Jeng and at the very end when he is preparing to resign he gets a notification to do a peer review on Jeng. Usually peer review frequency varies from company to company but most perform theirs at the end of the quarter. Some mncs will perform peer reviews twice in one quarter, one being at the beginning and another one at the end. So that being said Jeng has to have been the manager for a few months for Pat to give such scathing review.
Ok, so it's Q1. Which would mean this somewhere between January-March
episode 3: The peer review is sent and Pat is stresses so by the end of this episode he has prepared his resignation letter. I don't know how to read Thai but google translator tells me this is dated February 2023.
episode 4: no specific date for me to follow but Forge project is in it's presentation stage + finalizing production company for ads.
episode 5: Jeng's dad's ultimatum, so Jeng has till the end of 23 to show progress for his department or his Dad is shutting it down
We also find out Ae is pregnant.
episode 6: nothing specific on the time. Put asks for a second chance
episode 7: lmao! I wish! But yes some companies do be giving maternity leave from 3 months to a year. But there is also the issue of paid, non-paid maternity leave which is a whole other thing.
From the looks of it Ae is not that far into her pregnancy???? So she might be waiting to take that leave later.
episode 8: Pat and Put have broken up. Ae's bump isn't that visible sitting in the middle but it's there.
episode 9: now we have some specific time again. Both of Pat's parents are visiting him to celebrate his birthday. Which is October 31st
We don't know exactly how far along Ae is. But it's the end of October and she found out she was pregnant in episode 5 so maybe in March/April!!!
Pat has his birthday and with that we are entering November. One last peer review perhaps? lol. Jeng has to show his dad significant change in the department but he is leaving Jian and looking for his replacement.
Yes please.
Ae is more that 30 weeks pregnant when she has her baby. Lets just assume they are well into December by now for my sanity and everyone else.
and this is late birthday gift from Jeng
in conclusion: it's been somewhere around a little over a year up till episode 9. Pat is likely a regular employee now.

Hear me out,,,,, yknow that thing about sebek being good at acting??? like just an absolute theatre kid, yeah? think about it, sebel at VDC, just like wowing EVERBODY with his skills,,,,, (that's it I don't know how to properly send asks I'm sorry 😭)
Anon you've unleashed a monster. And I mean a REAL monster. I am making a full fucking event at this point.
Now, to make things make...a bit more sense in a way, we do this during Sebek's second year. Sorry third years you're off into your internships 😔
So, without their powerhouse Vil leading for VDC, NRC is quite worried. Because despite Vil's harsh training, he KNEW what he was doing and has had loads of experience. We're going to remove the previous VDC members for sake of mixing things up a bit, except for Epel and Jamil.
Epel as a way to...show the torch being passed on to EPEL, AS HE LEARNS TO SEE VIL'S PERSPECTIVE OF BEAUTY, AND LEARNING TO USE THIS KNOWLEDGE THAT HE'S GAINED FROM HIM TO TRULY EMBODY POMEFIORE'S TENACITY...I love Pomefiore
Jamil since this could also signify how he's finally given himself the chance to indulge in things he couldn't before without any outside force pushing him to do so. These two will be the "leaders" for this year's VDC.
They try to recruit with...minimal success. Less people have auditioned due to Vil being gone, and the new first years aren't really that passionate about VDC, especially after last year's shocking result of NRC losing to a single vote.
Their first recruit however is Ortho, eager to properly audition VDC to get a chance to experience it. Unlike last year, he's able to get in since Epel knows how much this means to him as he continues to try and find himself after Book 6 events.
Their next recruit is, to Jamil's dismay, Azul. He's actually suggested by Ortho, who informs Epel and Jamil of a beautiful singing voice that his sensors have picked up on from time to time, ever since last year. Ortho singles it out for the first time, and claims for it to be Azul's voice.
Recruiting Azul isn't easy, as he keeps on bargaining with Jamil to create a contract with him first before he can join. Epel finally points out that participating in VDC is already a great pro for Azul as he could use this as a chance to promote his business. Azul reluctantly agrees, but Jamil can sense that there's something that Azul isn't telling them.
They still need more people, and this is where Azul out of the "goodness" of his heart, informs them that Floyd has actually been interested in auditioning for VDC. This shocks the others, and they question if Floyd even has the skills for VDC. Or if he even has the DRIVE to do so, since Floyd can switch up moods and interests in a whim. This is something that Azul has also been worried about, which is why he initially didn't tell them about it.
But he does say that Floyd can be quite focused when he puts his mind to it, they just need a way to keep his interest from waning. Jamil disagrees with him, saying that it would be too much hard work to do so. They eventually drop it, and continue to try and find more people.
Epel's confidence wavers a bit due to this, his stress building up and turns to the first years for help. He asks Ace and Deuce if they're interested to audition for VDC again, but they turn his offer down since despite the event being fun, they do NOT want to go through training again. Jack turns it down as well, needing to help Ruggie manage the dorm. Uh whether he was made housewarden or vice is up to you.
Sebek, who was reading a book, turns it down too as Diasomnia's moral has decreased significantly ever since Malleus and Lilia leftfor internships. Epel says that maybe VDC could bring it back up again, but Sebek combats this by saying that he has no interest in singing nor dancing. Epel drops the subject.
Then, a scuffle happens in the cafeteria. Floyd is pestering Riddle again. Epel is surprised, as he's seen the Leech twin bothering the Heartslabyul housewarden ever since last year, and that he's still going at it. Ace mentions that he's probably been like that ever since they were first years, and for some reason Floyd thinks Riddle is interesting. This gives Epel an idea.
He makes a plan to lure Riddle to the VDC audition room, while Azul will bring Floyd. This backfires however when Riddle gets suspicious of him, and asks why he wants him to go there. Epel says that it's super important, but Riddle doesn't waver. Eventually, Jamil comes to the rescue and tells Riddle that a second year wants to audition, and before he can continue with the lie by saying "they need a housewarden's permission first," Riddle surprisingly gives in pretty quickly.
Just in time too, as Floyd who has been waiting for quite a while is getting bored of the idea of VDC since the judges aren't even here yet. Azul desperately tries to keep him inside the room but Floyd shrugs him off and is about to leave, but is having a hard time to budge the door open for some reason. When he's about to literally bodyslam into it, Jamil, Riddle and Epel come in.
Riddle is furious once he's learned that he's been tricked, while Floyd is ecstatic. Riddle demands Epel to tell him why he doesn't deserve to use his UM on him right then and there. Epel finally breaks down and confesses that making sure VDC goes well means a lot to him, as he wants to make Vil and Rook proud (I LOVE POMETRIO). As one of the "leaders" of the group, and as a Pomefiore dorm student, he WILL make sure that he'll create an act that will wow the audience, and might even surpass Vil's own. He wants to show Vil and Rook that he has grown (I LOVEEE POMETRIO).
Eventually moved, Riddle agrees to join the group... ONLY after setting down a bunch of ground rules, most pointed towards Floyd. Floyd breaks like, half of them on the FIRST DAY and Riddle almost quits, but realizes how Floyd has been surprisingly focused for training for VDC. He learns that Floyd was also interested in VDC because the twins didn't want to leave Azul alone by himself.
Riddle gets confused by this but isn't able to question Floyd further. He is only able to find out what Floyd means when Azul has to actually practice onstage. Azul freezes up, messing it up causing Jamil to snap at him.
Floyd is quick to defend Azul in his own way, threatening to squeeze Jamil when Riddle finally figures it out and outright asks Azul if he has stage fright. Azul quickly denies this, but after a few more jabs from Riddle he admits it. Jamil gets annoyed, seeing that Azul was boasting all about how he would greatly contribute to VDC only to be stopped because he's "shy."
Vil tells him to find someone who could replace Azul, but Epel stubbornly says that he wants Azul on the team. Vil sighs, saying that he should be grateful that he isn't there physically right now, and tells him to find what exactly about performing onstage makes Azul freeze up. He notes that when Azul practiced, there was no big audience or crowd. Was it just the feeling of being onstage himself? Is he just also "shy" in front of small crowds?
Cue VDC breakup that actually happens, and Epel is down in the dumps. He eventually calls Vil and asks for advice. Vil scolds him and asks why didn't he call sooner, and Epel admits his insecurities of not being able to do Vil and Rook proud. Vil tells him to stop thinking of how they would think of their act because no matter what, they know that Epel will always do his best and give a spectacular performance.
...I love pometrio.
With this advice, Epel tries to confront Azul. It doesn't work until Floyd jumps in as well and tells Azul to stop being a crybaby. This triggers Azul causing him to snap at Floyd until Floyd points out that for some reason, he's regressed back to how he was when they were children. He's seen Azul exaggerating his own actions for the sake of Monstro Lounge publicity in front of many NRC students, so why is he suddenly scared of performing onstage?
Azul isn't the crybaby he used to be anymore. He has people he can depend on now. Jade and Floyd still have his back. But Azul won't admit what's wrong with him until Jamil surprisingly comes into the picture, holding up a post from a certain Prince Rielle with a group of friends behind him with the caption, "Excited for VDC!" Azul is surprised as well as Floyd, wondering how he even found Prince Rielle's post.
Turns out Prince Rielle's group of friends used to be Azul's bullies, and he's worried of what they'll think about him when they see him onstage. Epel thinks back to his conversation with Vil and tells Azul to quit bitching. He didn't work his ass off for VDC for nothing and he is not letting Azul's stage fright ruin this.
Floyd gets confused and says how is Epel's "speech" helping their dilemma. Epel finally gets to the point: telling Azul that he's grown up since his bullies have last seen him. He's strong and capable now, and if anyone tries to mess with him they'll beat their ass for him anyway. THAT Floyd understands and agrees with. Jamil reluctantly says that he'll also offer his own help.
Touched, Azul tries to practice again onstage. He messes up midway but is able to pull through. Jamil says that they can touch up on it, especially since Azul has difficulty with dancing. Either way, he tells him that it was "good enough," but that they'll need to work themselves to the bone if they want to win VDC as they've wasted a lot of time due to trying to find people to recruit and the whole VDC breakup thing.
"Wow Quincy where is Riddle" While VDC breakup happened Riddle took note that Azul's weakness involved dancing, but his talents lied in his singing. Looking through the VDC rulebook, he makes an interesting discovery: Not EVERYONE necessarily has to sing AND dance. And that they can showcase their act through multiple forms of art, as long as it was LIVE and had singing and dancing. I'm making this all up by the way I dont know VDC rules or whatever.
He proposes the idea that they set up their act like a musical play, hopefully based on a story that everyone is familiar with AND where they could accommodate Azul so he wouldn't have to dance as much due to their time constraint. They all go to the library to find a story they can use when Ortho hears a sudden thump.
He goes into an aisle where the sound came from and finds a discarded book of fairy tales lying on the floor. There's a bookmark inside and Ortho goes to its page and sees that it's the story "The Little Mermaid." He suggests the story, saying that Azul could act as Ursula. If they're allowed, maybe they could even have a huge water tank or pull off some holographic illusions to truly encapsulate scenes underwater.
Azul declines because 1) YOU WANT HIM TO ACT AS HIS IDOL!?!?!?!?! and 2) That requires being in his octo-form. Riddle gives the final push they need to convince Azul by saying that this is the chance to prove not only to Azul's bullies but also to himself that he can finally get over his fears and doubts.
So now, they're getting ready for VDC, and it's their last week. Please note that the story of the Little Mermaid is DIFFERENT in twisted Wonderland, so there are tweaks here. Non-evil Ursula and all that jazz.
And then, Epel video calls with Vil. Mostly to catch up and to talk about the progress they've made as a group. He won't tell him what they're actually doing for VDC though. Vil looks at everyone's smiling faces through the screen, smiles as well and suddenly says, "Where's your 7th member?" Everyone freezes up.
"S-seventh?" Epel stutters out. Vil raises a brow. "You need at least seven or eight people for VDC, potato. Don't tell me-" Epel hangs up. Everyone sits in silence. Then, they panic. THEY'RE ONLY 6 PEOPLE?? And now they have to find an extra person.
But there's no time to find a suitable candidate. They would need to interview them, catch them up on the script and the moves-
Epel BREAKS DOWN. All this work for NOTHING because he didn't know about the stupid 7-8 students rule. Everyone is inconsolable, until Riddle suddenly sighs and says that he knows someone they could go to. Jamil refutes this, saying they dont have enough time to find another person and train them, when Riddle just shuts him off and tells everyone to follow him.
Everyone reluctantly does, surprised to see that they're being lead to the Diasomnia dorms. Silver greets them, asking why they're here. Riddle asks if Sebek is around, and as if on cue he walks into the lounge. He gapes at the group before pushing them out of the dorm, ignoring Silver's confused expression.
Sebek demands why they're all here, when Riddle coughs into his hand and tells him, "Care to reveal what you've been doing?" Sebek crosses his arms. "I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOURE TALKING ABOUT!" Riddle sighs. "When Epel told you about his problems with recruiting people for VDC, you helped him out, didn't you?"
Everyone turns towards Riddle, confused. Epel most especially, "But, Sebek said he didn't-" "Floyd, when I entered the audition room, you were about to leave, weren't you?" Floyd grins. "Hehe, how did you know that, goldfishie?" Riddle rolls his eyes, "Weren't you?"
"You're no fun." Floyd pouts. "Yeah, I was."
"But when you were trying to leave, I noticed you had a problem with opening the door for some reason." Epel and Jamil look at each other. "Did we lock the other door?" Azul shook his head, "Nope, it was unlocked. If Floyd tried to escape I was just going to use myself as a barricade."
"Yet, why was it locked?" Riddle squints his eyes at Sebek. "Or rather, why was it being blocked?" Sebek doesn't waver. Riddle continues to point out that Ortho had found their story for the play through a book with a bookmark. He asks Ortho to take it out and see if there was anything interesting about it.
Ortho does so and notices that the charm connected to it is shaped like a thunderbolt. Sebek rolls his eyes and says that anyone could own a bookmark like that. But Epel refutes this because when he asked the first years for help, he saw that Sebek was reading a book with the very same bookmark.
At this, Sebek seems to tense up a bit but won't admit to anything. Then, Jamil finally remembers something. Riddle immediately followed him and Epel when he mentioned a second year in the audition room. Jamil was saying it with Ace or Deuce in mind, yet with the extra information now, it seems that Riddle was thinking of another second year.
Riddle tells him that he's correct: he was thinking of Sebek. Because Sebek himself admitted to him that he wanted to audition for VDC. At this, the group beg Sebek to join them, but he still turns them down. "I'M NOT SKILLED AT SINGING NOR DANCING, REMEMBER FELMIER?" Sebek huffs as Epel wilts. "I'M SURE YOU WILL FIND ANOTHER SUITABLE CANDIDATE. NOW, IF YOULL EXCUSE ME-"
"Monsieur Croc, why do you say such things when your performance in the Sleepless Castle was simply just- beaute!" Everyone freezes up when they hear Rook's voice. Epel grabs his phone and makes a fast excuse when Vil just sighs. "You only closed your camera. You didn't hang up, little potato."
After that embarrassing moment, Rook reveals that Sebek is quite skilled in singing, saying that he had a "voice that could even fit operas!" Knowing how Rook is, Epel is even more determined to get Sebek into their team.
Sebek quietly curses Rook in his mind.

I'm Back!! Kinda...
I know it's been a while since I posted my own content or writing but I wrote this a few years back and never shared it but I know this would be helpful to a lot of you girlies now that the job market has once again taken a downturn. I originally wrote this after landing my first full-time job post-2020.
Like many, I graduated into a pandemic and found myself looking for my first job in the midst of a nationwide hiring freeze. The process was grueling but in failure, there are also many lessons learned and luckily, my search ended in success at one of the biggest tech companies in the world. In the past few years, I’ve worked at some of the biggest and best companies in the world making it past several rounds of interviews, impressing my future colleagues, managers, and even VPs so it’s safe to say I know a thing or two about landing a job. Here goes!
B's Guide to Landing Your DREAM JOB PART 1!
If you’re still in college there are a few things I would suggest a few things.
Start interning as soon as possible. The sooner you start practicing interviewing at companies you’re interested in, the better. Also, a few internships on your resume prior to your graduation will help A LOT. Trust me. You’ll have experiences to speak about in all those behavioral interviews as well.
Become friendly with the professors in your field. They can become a good reference for you later. Even if only one to three times a semester go to your professor’s office and chat. They can also put in a good word for you for programs. This brings me to my next point.
In most industries, there are conferences each year that either offer discounts (or free tickets) to college students and/or are directly aimed at college students. If you’re a POC, find programs aimed at diversifying that industry. These conferences often have recruiting opportunities with large companies and most times the interview process won’t be as rigorous compared to an applicant who may have applied online. I would recommend compiling a list at the beginning of each school year with these program names as well as their application due dates.
Don’t join clubs just to have them on your resume. Aim for leadership roles or redirect your time to other personal projects that interest you. It’ll make for a better conversation with your recruiters and hiring managers to say “I built XYZ because I was interested in ABC” rather than “I was just a member of that club and went to the meetings once a month.”
This varies across industries but for the most part, your GPA isn’t all that important especially after you land your first job after college so breathe.
Perfect your resume and this part couldn’t be more critical. In the age of ATS (Applicant Tracking Systems) and fierce competition, it’s become vital that your resume can stand out and communicate very clearly how you’re qualified for the job. Here are my resume tips:
My favorite program to create resumes on is Canva. They have a ton of great templates and are super customizable and not to mention, it’s FREE.
Use quantifiable measurements to show your results if possible.
Use action verbs at the beginning of your bullet points. Personally, I believe each description should have at least 3-4 bullet points but never only 1. Here are some of the words on my resume: Constructed, Spearheaded, Managed, Collaborated, and Lead. All of your descriptions should state what you did, how you did it (programs used, methods, etc.), and the outcome.
I personally think every resume should include your: Experience, Skills, Leadership/ Professional Development (for college students this could mean conferences attended, programs, boot camps, etc.), Projects (shows independence and initiative), Contact, and Education. Make sure your LinkedIn is included in your ‘Contact’ section. You should have a personalized LinkedIn link, that’s free.
Your LinkedIn needs to be at 100% completion. This is a place where you can really show off because there are no space limits. This can showcase every job or internship you’ve ever had, every program or project you’ve had an impact on, etc. The better your LinkedIn, the better chance you have a recruiter finding you and inviting you to interview for a role they think would be a good fit.
Your profile picture ideally is a professional one but if not possibly find time to take one in natural daylight with a quality camera and a plain background. I’ve also seen people using AI to now turn regular pics into professional ones.
Interact with posts, comment, and share. This will help get your name and profile circulating.
Announce that you’re looking for a job to your network. Include your resume and what you’re looking for in that post. You never know who might see it.
Grow your network and the easiest place to start is with people you’ve gone to school with and current or previous coworkers.
Put your resume on your LinkedIn profile (You can do this by attaching a media file)
Know your elevator pitch and know it well because every single person you interview with will probably ask you this. My elevator pitch sounds something like this:
I’m Britt and in June, I graduated from Icy University with a degree in Math and a minor in Sociology. Throughout college, I completed a number of internships doing _______ and have developed skills in _______. When I was a senior I learned about (or developed an interest in) _____ and did _____ to grow my skills or learn more about it. Now that I’ve graduated I’m looking for a role in ______ where I can continue to ______. (My elevator pitch is now different now that I’ve had two full-time roles but you get the point)
Now we apply.
LinkedIn is your friend here and my favorite job posting platform. Set up Job Alerts for companies you’re interested in so that you have a better chance of being an early applicant.
As annoying as this is, you will have to edit your resume for almost every position you apply to. Use the words they use to describe your roles in your work history and remember to always save your resume as a PDF. This definitely will help you get past the ATS system. Remember to adjust the words used in your ‘Skills’ section too but don’t lie. These days, many companies with decent salaries are giving applicants take-home assignments. This applies to your cover letters as well. (I no longer write cover letters though, no one reads them). I saved every version of my cover letter and could eventually just mix and match paragraphs according to the type of job I was applying to. Of course, you will still have to change some words to best match the position’s job posting.
The LinkedIn stalking begins. Find someone at the company you’ve applied for and invite them to connect but ALWAYS include a note. In this note, you will give a very brief introduction and your reason for messaging. Mine usually looked something like this: Hi ___, I’m Britt and I recently applied for the ____ position. I’d love to learn more about the department, the team, and the company. Would you have 15 minutes to chat sometime this week or next? Thanks in advance, Britt.
My tip is that you find a manager on the team rather than a recruiter for the company. I find that they never accept invitations but managers usually will.
On this call, you’ll discuss exactly what you mentioned in your opening note, and remember to have prepared questions for them. If you make a good impression, most managers will be willing to forward your resume to the recruiting team.

Adulting 101: How Jobs work
I feel like there is a LOT of terrible advice on the internet about getting a job, working a job, and leaving a job. So I am going to give some real advice that will help you out in the long run.
Welcome to Adulting 101
So for this I will be discussing the Core tenants
Getting a Job
Working the Job
Leaving the Job
and
The Farewell
(Note this is mainly for work in the Corporate sector but I can assure that applicable information can be applied to other Job areas.)
Getting a job
So you are fresh out of college, and now you realize those student loans arent gonna be paid by the government after all. So what are you going to do?
The answer is get a Job.
But how are you going to get one?
1. Connections:
-If you havent already, start with creating a Linkedin account and try to connect with every person you have ever met, especially if you are going into the field of work with the individuals.
After that, try searching LinkedIn for every person that is in a high position in the field you want to start your career. Most won’t respond, but some will and that is good for you.
Most people in the corporate world that get interviews for their first job with good companies are usually through connections. Leverage family, friends, old employment, old internships, etc.
-I also recommend staying in touch with your Alma mater, professors are usually people with connections and if they like you can help pull some strings. But if not, the school usually will have some sort of program that will help you get your first job. Though not all colleges have it, but its best to check.
-Always avoid sales jobs. Now some sales jobs are fine and legit, but its usually gonna end with the company taking the list of people you know and selling to them before tossing you aside. It burns your friends and Family’s good will. Thats usually the reason why at least once in your life you will have someone from high school reaching out to you about ‘A product or service’.
-Nurture the network. You want people to like you enough to recommend you for jobs, especially this early on. Your experience is garbage and you have no negotiating power. Unless you are from an Ivy league school and have a 4.0. You have no value in the eyes of the company alone. So your best bet is to lean on people you know.
2. Resume
-For the love of crap, work on your resume. Doesnt matter how good your connections are, if you made your resume out of crayon you are screwed. Take time to format it, look up some how to guides, ask some people you know how they worked their resume. It is not fun, but it is important. Resumes are what get people in the door in a lot of cases. The best resumes on online applications are filtered based on how close they fit the job description.
-Make sure to keep that resume updated and easy to edit so you can alter it to match a job description better. This is a trick to help improve the odds of selection.
-Same thing but with Linkedin, there are recruiters on Linkedin and other sites that search for canidates. Most of them are sales jobs, but some arent and you can leverage them if possible
-Since this is on Tumblr, I’m going to tell you this upfront, don’t put your pronouns in your resume. I was talking with a recruiter and that’s a thing they use to filter out so most online applications won’t see it. Mainly cause it’s seen as Filler and stuff like this will be addressed later.
3. Certifications and internships
-When you are new in the workforce, you will need ANYTHING to differentiate you from the crowd, having a certification in whatever is needed in your field is always a bonus. Granted these cost cash to get into, so this is more of a last resort when you are looking for your first job.
-Internships after college are often seen as a bit tough to manage since they usually dont pay as much as a real job (depending on the state or country, at all), but if one is unable to get a job, this is a ticket to building a network.
4. The Interview
-All of that work from the previous 3 subjects have led you to this moment, your interview. Now this is a make or break it moment and it is important to understand the following:
*Is this a multiround interview? (Will there be more than one?)
*Who am I interviewing with (The interviewer, the company, and for what job)
*What is the purpose of the interview? (Is this a formality? A job description?)
-Now it is crucial to know your resume inside and out. You need to speak to what you know. So be sure to know it well.
-Always answer in a way that puts you in a more positive light. But dont try the “My greatest weakness is working too hard” they can smell that bulls*** a mile away. If you had to describe a negative, make it seem like you are working to fix it. This demonstrates you can look at yourself objectively and makes it seem like you are more of a genuine person. My go too response is “I have a habit of hyper focusing on a task until it is complete, but I have been working on focusing on what has the highest priority.”
-At the end of the interview, make sure to have questions prepared to ask the interviewer, and dont ask about salary. (Salary is asked after the job is offered, and usually you will usually hear about the salary range before going in, or the official number AFTER they give the offer). My go to question is asking “What are three traits someone would need to have to thrive in this position?” But do try and think of your own
-Dont be nervous, remember that this will likely not be the only interview you will have, especially with how desperate people are to get workers. So you will get a few. Just do your best, you got this.

Working the Job
You did it, all that hardwork and dedication had paid off, you got your first job.
Or maybe this is your second job. But most importantly, its work with a salary. The most tedious part is over, next is where the real work begins.
1. Adjusting to work
This period of time will you learning all you can about your job, this is the 30-60-90. AKA, the Trial period.
Show up a bit early and leave a bit later (unless your commute is over an hour. Then you just try to be as close to on time as possible.)
Your first 30 days is you finding out where everything is, how it works, who you interact with to get work done, and find the bathroom. This is where the expectations for you as an employee are at their most lenient. Dont take this as a rest opportunity, You are meant to learn as much as possible about how to do your job. (also connect with all the people on your team on Linkedin)
The next 30 days are your real test. Likely will be given your first real assignment if it wasnt given already. This is where you need to knock it out of the park. Crush that first assignment. Show everyone you are a pleasure to work with, Be compassionate yet driven. This is the ‘Prove yourself phase’
The last 30 days is the “Dealmaker” here is where you get to show your impact on the company. Your work must be consistent and must be solid. You can be allowed some error, but dont focus too much on it. This is where you show what you learned and are a part of the company. After you make it past this stage, you are likely to not have to worry about being fired. That doesnt mean your safe. It just means you are officially a part of the company.
-Now from here on out this is your chance to grow in however you want. Do you have ideas that you think would make things better? Give them a go, try discussing them with your boss, see what he/she thinks of them. You think there is a sector of the company you would work better in, use this position as an opportunity to grow closer and maybe transfer. Just be sure to keep your work consistent
2. Time to excel
So this is where you start career building. You want to make the big money. You want to be strong and independent with the fat stacks? You gotta work bitch.
You gotta take initiative, when there is an opportunity to shine to the higher ups, take it. Not every opportunity will be given. But sometimes there are ones that are gift wrapped.
Do NOT over extend yourself.
This is important, yes you want to stand out, but over extending yourself just to impress can cause your original work to suffer. You need to know your limits. And be willing to ask for help when needed.
Don’t talk smack about your boss, or other coworkers.
In the game of office politics, you never want to give someone an opportunity to make you look bad. Be respectful, and keep any complaints or issues you have with someone objective.
Take responsibility. Don’t try and blame others when something fails. Own up to it and ask for ways to improve. That shows character and in the game of career building, that’s a solid way to show you are capable and bold.

Leaving a job
So you find yourself working at this job and you realize. I hate it here. Now the first instinct is to quit and figure it out later. Or the term “Quiet Quitting” which is doing the bare minimum required and ride it out. Let me correct this by showing you what to do.
Figure out the Why.
Why do you hate your job now? It’s actually the simplest step. Usually boiling down to the following
1. My boss sucks.
Most employees end up quitting their jobs because of their boss. Either they are critical, take credit for your work, blame you for their mistakes, make you work late. Preventing you from taking vacation. Or insert specific reason here.
If the boss is the only reason you hate the job, then this is where you can start by requesting transfers to other areas of the company. Make an effort to find someone you wouldn’t mind working under, or find a way to show that your boss is violating your rights and agreements. If you can get a recording or emails to show to HR, than you can find ways of dealing with the horrible boss. Though if all else fails, then it’s time to consider leaving.
2. You need higher pay
If your company doesn’t give pay raises, and you find yourself not progressing a more favorable direction, then it’s time to discuss with your boss your concerns. Now if your boss is reasonable and not like a boss from reason 1, they will likely take into account the work you do and try to get you the raise.
But that’s only if you are working hard. Demanding more money but not doing anything more than what the job is asking won’t net you a pay raise unless you are exceeding expectations. In truth most companies would like to not lose workers, so voicing a concern would be a good way to get more cash.
Though if you are working hard and going above and beyond yet still not getting the money you deserve. It’s time to search for a place that will. Don’t quit yet, find the new job first and than leave.
It’s common curtesy to let the company know with a two week notice. That’s mainly so you don’t entirely burn connections. If you don’t care about the company, just quit.
Side note, and THIS IS CRUCIAL
If your company hears you are leaving and tries to match it. DONT take it. It’s a ploy. They will look for your replacement as soon as you accept the deal. They know you are finicky and looking. If you accepted a job offer, DONT BACK OUT.
3. This is not the career I want
You realize that this just isn’t where you want to be for the next couple of years. That’s fine. In fact, good on you for recognizing that you aren’t content with your work. But that begs the question, what Do you want.
At this time, stay working while you do research. No need to quit if you don’t know what it is you want. Maybe you want to be focused on different things but still in the same company. Transfers are more common and it’s easier to move and employee than lose one. So if you like where you work but not what you do, maybe see what other options there are in house before leaving.
But if you really want to go after something then find yourself peeping for that path. And when you are ready to go, then quit. Be polite and cordial. It wasn’t them it’s you. A two week notice would be the polite thing in this case.
The Farewell
Things aren’t working out with your current job and you’ve decided it’s time to leave. Ensure the following.
1. You have another opportunity lined up
2. You connected with everyone worth while
3. You have your letter/email of resignation ready to go
Now if your opportunity has a time before it starts. Great time for quiet quitting. You are basically out the door, you can take it easy. So enjoy these last moments before you leave and get ready for the next step in life.

ENTITY G.I.G.A`s College Program/Hiring Summarized
I think I confused a bit of people about G.I.G.A` College stuff, so Imma put some of the stuff I answered to a question and add some stuff.
The whole colleges are separate, but there are government based classes connected to G.I.G.A through a college program/internship/recruitment. G.I.G.AS hiring process is one of the toughest to get into if you`re not being transferred or have a letter of recommendation by a connected partner of the firm, the program is a great way to have a starting ground to the company or government work in general if you have another place in mind that will guarantee a job.
If you get accepted then you are required to move to G.I.G.A funded apartments/or living situations close by to the foundation. Most buildings are much nicer than a dorm, but not as grand as an apartment. You can flex around your work around the classes that you have online or on-sight classes.
G.I.G.A program can last up for 2 years or longer depending on the career you are pushing for. Once completed you get certificate of completion, college credit, a letter of recommendation for G.I.G.A/ other government jobs, and a somewhat nice payout.
If failure to complete the program you will loose little to all college credit. You can apply next year, but acceptance is slim.
If you managed to commit criminal acts while in the program: you will loose all college credit, get yourself a file into G.I.G.As criminal systems (you`re gonna be working at fast food at this point), and have consequences to these actions.

Minds of Romero #1: Madam Sonya
Once an aspiring business major, Sonya Serrano caught the interest of Mina Carpenter after accepting an internship within the office of recruiting at Carpenter State. At first, Sonya thought her invitation to dinner with Mina was a great opportunity to network. Mina had her hands in several business ventures around town and her name alone could get Sonya an interview with any one of them. But Sonya quickly learned that Mina had a specific business in mind for her: an offer she literally couldn't refuse.
Marjorie's is an open secret around Romero, an institution even. Though on its surface a gentleman's club, for decades the women of Marjorie's have serviced their guests, male and female alike, in the club's private VIP rooms. As its new madam, Sonya would be in charge of recruiting, training, and managing her stable of girls. Turnover tends to be high, but that's expected from a largely student base of employees—women looking for short-term work to cover living expenses during the school year. Though Sonya had her objections to running a brothel, Mina found her mind as pliable as any other's. By the end of their dinner, Sonya had sworn her mind, body, and soul to her new Mistress and happily accepted the job.
Imbued with Mina Carpenter's powers, Sonya has the ability to shape minds to her liking. This is a useful skill when recruiting and dealing with stubborn cops. The energy produced in Marjorie's in just one week is enough to keep Mina young for half a century, but Sonya plays an important role for Mina as one of her primary brokers of information. Marjorie's has several powerful regulars from city councilmen to notable business leaders. Word is that Sonya herself is a personal favorite of Dean Pierce's. With the information that Sonya cultivates from her guests, Mina holds Romero in the palm of her hand.

busts the door down covered in blood. HES DONE. FINALLY
infodump under the cut bc i've been rotating him in my brain like a rotisserie chicken
born and raised on Aquator (i hc that's like Space Carribean Islands), Gabriel is an ambitious young man who's not particularly keen on staying bound to his home planet so as soon as he's able he hitches a ride to Eden-6 to live with a wealthy aunt of his to attend college
through his college years he keeps seeing recruitment flyers for megacorps, out of all of them Hyperion peaks his interest namely for their R&D department (as an aspiring marine biologist seeing the absolure SIZE of the tanks they have on Helios REALLY spikes his interest)
after sweat, blood and a handful of tears he manages to nail an internship
all is well for a solid 3 years, he gets acquainted with the folks in his department even if he thinks some of them are completely off the hinges deranged (he's not any better, for the record) sets his eyes on a certain doppelganger for a healthy while (they have a short fling, kinda)
so circa age 25 he gets sent out to be stationed on Pandora on the Wildlife Exploitation Preserve and where proverbiably everything goes to shit
the first few weeks working there go fine sure it's a bit musty and the air is dry but thats a mild inconvenience at BEST
SO ABOUT THAT, theres a malfunction on one of the stalker enclosures, setting stalkers injected with eridium loose on the branch he's working at on the Preserve
nearly his whole team gets wiped off the map and Gabriel here ends up with a nasty wound on his abdomen (eventual nasty claw mark scar) and barely makes it out of the preserve
A concoction of health hypos and the remains of his labcoat later he manages to stabilize himself, but he's wandered so far off and the idea of going back doesnt sound appealing in the SLIGHTEST so he books it out to the dust aimlessly
in proceeds to happen 'Gabriel's No Good Very Bad Several Weeks' which plays out exactly how anyone would expect former hyperion to fare around Pandora which is not well at all while simultaneously trying to dodge an infection
he DOES manage to drag himself far enough to reach Ellie's and then promptfuly collapse at her doorstep and from that point on they kind of manage to form a steady friendship after he's awake again and not eating sand
that being said he crashes around her a lot, he's got some knowledge of machinery so it lends itself to him helping her out sometimes or doing a fetch quest here and there by foot
until that becomes a bit of a pain in the ass and he's never really learned how to drive but hey theres a first time for everything, its how he kind of picks up a motorcycle
and it just WORKS for him, after a lot of trial and error he get's pretty good at it, and that's when he starts catching wind of a Death Rally, so he decides to check it out
gets ENAMOURED with watching the races and eventually decides to risk it and try racing for once, and he's pretty runty ( ~5'2") compared to the other racers but he's got an added bonus of agility
it kind of becomes an opportunity for him to let loose, with it being such a rough 'sport' it gets to his head a little, and he's sabotaging other racers by ramming into them or herding them to crash, THAT gets Bossanova's attention, and the fact he keeps showing up race after race to compete
eventually they manage to strike a deal, he gets to rig the rallies for Bossanova and he gets to become a staple member of the rallies
he accepts in a heartbeat
that's how he kind of rises into some form of stardom under the alias 'Ceolacanth' (bc he's still a bio nerd after all those years and even if he's built his whole imagery after sharks rather than ceolacanths but, technicalities)
again all is good for a while until the events of Tales, by then he's the same age as Fiona and his first impression of the Tales crew is initially not a good one bc in his eyes they basically led Zer0 to the rally, and then proceeded to get his boss killed which is to say he's PISSED that was a damn good job thank you very much
despite all of that he's still sympathetic to the whole situation with the girls and Felix and then proceeds to make himself their problem bc welp, he's out of a job he might as well
his involvement in the story is mostly secondary, initially sticking by the girls
his initial annoyance at the group fades over time and he gets really fond of everyone, but particularly Rhys in the 'GOD you're so annoying, keep talking though i like your voice' (the closet is made of glass)
they kind of get on eachother's nerves and while to them its bickering to just about anyone else it looks like a weird sort of flirting, a very weird one too
they probably get some more common ground once they actually sit their asses down and TALK, he's been in the same place as Rhys before, just without the AI of their past CEO currently floating about in his brain, so he kind of gets that its a hard shift to go through, his feelings on Hyperion definitely soured over the years but he knows what its like to be tossed in a completely new envoirement and forced to wing it
probably had some hand helping Vaughn with the Children of Helios, he mostly left the guy to his devices but he was there if he needed someone to talk to (he picked Vaughn off after Vallory held him hostage)
Some extra stuff:
has a scar/dent on his nose from an incident as a kid where he decided to climb a closet that had a picture frame on top; his nose is also slightly crooked to one side bc of another childhood incident
has a back tattoo that kind of wraps around his hip (got it at 18 before going off to college)
the lack of glasses! while he was working on Hyperion he eventually got corrective eye surgery (tho admittedly? would be a little funny if he was going around half blind)
