The second you start talking about some mysterious "they" that are controlling society in some fashion, you are engaging in dangerous conspiratorial thinking even if you're being woke about it. "They" did not institute the 40 hour work week specifically so you would be too tired to revolt. "They" did not invent the sleek minimalist aesthetic in order to crush the spirit of art in the common people. "They" are not pushing mediocre media into the mainstream in order to poison people's critical thinking skills.
Your best case scenario after that is you talk to someone who actually knows what the fuck they're talking about and you get embarrassed because you can't answer basic questions about your own ideology because you never learned anything past "the ruling class/capitalists/politicians are making things bad and if we got rid of them the bad things would all go away!"
Your worst case scenario is obviously the woo-to-fascist pipeline and you end up believing Jews are poisoning American food supplies with GMOs in order to turn us all into beta cucks, so like . . . maybe just stop blaming "them" before you fall down that route.
Obligatory round of disclaimers: Yes, sometimes people do bad things. Be specific about exactly who is doing what instead of ascribing it to some vague group of shadowy elites. Yes, sometimes things in society are bad. Learn to identify the root causes of complex social issues instead of assuming that they're actually extremely simple to fix and we're just not doing it because of some vague group of shadowy elites. Yes, minimalism isn't for everyone. Learn that some people don't share your tastes and get the fuck over it for the love of god.

Projekt Red, you know, the Arknights operator
Tried to give her a similar purpose to that she has in-game: flashing in and drawing a bunch of aggro, then probably getting whaled on

We love a global IT outage while I’m working. Like the Kmart in my Westfield had to close, Woolies was having issues and I was stressing over at target.
Couldn’t do any transactions over like $150 with a lot of other issues.

I was watching Peace Petal's video on what might happen with MLP G6 (you should watch it, it's good).
Because I mostly agree with points raised, I want to instead focus on the fact that I find it rather funny that fans get up in arms at the idea of a new gen where the character names and colour schemes etc are re-used but with new personalities, with the argument that "that's not XYZ, they're changing the character etc"
Funny because I felt like that when I first saw g4. I was so upset to see Rainbow Dash was no longer the elegant and stylish mare she used to be, and how Pinkie went from being the voice of reason to essentially the opposite. And so on and so on.
But I happened to watch g4 in 2013 and I liked it and then I came to love it. The realisation that helped was the fact that Hasbro recycles characters all the time. It's most notable in g4, partly because the show had so many named characters while in g3 most repeated names would've been toy-exclusive and so you didn't explore their personality as much. It's a weird concept, since I can't think of many series that do this. Shows/toylines often either reboot the series with almost exactly the same characters (e.g. transformers has had the same Optimus Prime every time), or they start from scratch.
This is also why I don't feel too bad about Monster high's changes to the characters between generations. They're mostly using the names and stylistic elements to act as a springboard for a new series.
A similar thing could even be said about bionicle's g2. OK I'm finding a lot of examples, but these are all the ones I can really think of right now.
I do agree with Peace Petal that it would be wiser to distance itself completely from g4 and thus use inspiration from characters that aren't the mane 6, but if they do re-use Rainbow Dash's name for the third time (or Applejack for the forth) and make her a completely different pony, I really would not care. They're not the same character; it's not the same universe. They just happen to share a name and design influences.
But yes, the key thing is it needs to be a complete separation from g4. g5 was quite an outlier by retaining ties to the previous gen and I think that missed the opportunity for a fresh start, a blank slate with none of the complicated lore that had built up and complete freedom to do as they pleased.
I also really want them to bring back Wysteria. She could be the Rainbow Dash (g4) equivalent and I would not be mad I just want my first pony to get speaking roles and toys.

Right on Target(s): Priority Targets Winners!
~
Our winners this week are @bergdg, @nine-effing-hells, and @wildcardgamez!
@bergdg — Alternating Current
So, immediately, this doesn't actually work as written, because you wouldn't be able to declare targets that deep into the effect. That said, I think the fix should be as simple as changing the clause to something along the lines of "When a coin comes up (heads/tails) this way." And, frankly, I probably would've given this a win even if it didn't work, because I find the concept absolutely fascinating. I love the trend in recent times to remove the idea of "losing" a coin flip and simply have two useful effects that are better in different situations. This is a great extension of that, because one way or another something is being put out of commission. I'm also a big fan of the ability to choose your targets as you see the results, which helps smooth over a lot of the frustration of targets going to waste. A stun counter being flavored as electricity is quite interesting too. Something like paralysis or numbness, perhaps? And as a bonus, the uncounterability is kind of extraneous, but I like it as a simple way of making the spell feel bigger.
@nine-effing-hells — Necrodiversity
Uh...wow. There's a lot you can do with this to be sure, and while there's obviously a much greater reward with some careful deckbuilding, I like that it's not nearly as stringent as you'd think. A lot of decks naturally have a variety of creature types, and I wouldn't think you'd need to dump several dozen creatures onto the board for this to be at least worthwhile. Plus, that's without even getting into the fact that you're free to plunder your opponents' graveyards for any types you're lacking. The biggest draw for me is that unlike a lot of similar effects, this is capable of grabbing creatures with overlapping types, so even decks with a high density of one type can get some value as long as they can vary up their other types enough.
@wildcardgamez — Overwhelming Team Spirit
Strive is a scaling mechanic in and of itself, but this one really aspires to go above and beyond and scale outright exponentially! We've seen overrun effects that scale with the size of your board, but I don't think we've seen one that scales the cost, too! There's also a reasonable amount of versatility in exactly how many and which creatures you'd like to target. I'm a bit suspicious that the wording scaling this based on the number of targets doesn't quite work, but I can't think of a better way, and I completely understand what you were going for, so I won't hold it against you. Plus, the flavor just makes me giggle. You could've easily made this a stampede of animals like so many other similar effects, but you opted for a stampede of people at a sporting event instead! That's very clever, and I very much appreciate it.

I've decided that (between fighting Red Robin's bad guys and Moneyspider trying to go rogue on the side), Lonnie and Tim co-mod like... an online server/community help board/coding school for disadvantaged youth to try and get them interested in computer science. (It would be offline also, but Tim's face is hella recognizable and Lonnie is unfortunately still stuck in a coma.)
Lonnie is constantly trying to teach the kids basic hacking stuff and Tim keeps shutting him down (not literally though because that would be hella rude). ...but then Tim is like. Oh no. It would be very unfortunate. If you were to figure out how to pirate movies/TV shows/etc. from these huge corporations who are shitty to their employees. And every once in a while he maybe looks the other way while Lonnie shows the kids how to hack a global megacorporation and redistribute some of the wealth to the masses—look, Bruce, he can run your stupid company or he can babysit Lonnie Machin 24/7, he can't do both, this is on you.
It annoys the heck out of Bruce, because ugh, he is trying to set up some sort of Wayne Foundation scholarship associated with Tim and Lonnie's... whatever it is, but it'll look really bad if WF is associated with what is essentially a hacker school. (He is so proud of them and all the good they do and wants an excuse to brag to the world but also the optics :\ )

one thing i find really difficult about navigating the IF space is the direct line of contact between readers and authors. we share the same space, and i think that plays a big part in this weird blurred line we have in this community and overall lack of boundaries.
for a lot of people this is a fun hobby and while i personally try to keep it... semi-professional most of the time, it's easy to get wrapped up in having fun on tumblr (or the forums, or reddit, wherever it is that you mainly post/interact) and have a lot of personal interactions with both readers and authors alike - which is fun! i like it more often than not, but i also think that's why a lot of comments in this space can end up being really entitled, over-familiar, and inappropriate.
it's no secret that most authors get really weird messages on here, and while this is also a problem on social media at large and not just specific to IF tumblr, it is still definitely a big problem in this community.
and to be clear i'm not saying that you can't be friendly with authors or readers (i've become friends with a handful of readers myself) and i definitely don't mean to imply that there needs to be a huge divide between us; that's silly - again, most authors are readers, most readers are authors, we’re just people on the internet sharing the same space. but all of us deserve to have our boundaries respected. this is my story, and we are strangers. as a general rule of thumb: if you wouldn't say it out loud to someone you just met, you probably shouldn't be saying it to a stranger online. especially anonymously.
#i also think this is why some criticisms get so messy in this space as well#authors should not always be in the same space as the readers/reviewers#and readers shouldnt be able to directly @ authors with their extremely negative reviews esp when it's subjective#(‘’i hate this’’ as opposed to pointing out genuinely harmful content or other criticism)#for everyone's sake#& on a kinda related note: speaking as someone who has been receiving targeted harassment for *checks watch* over two years now#some people really need to reevaluate the way they interact with certain media#i think IF feels very personal due to the interactivity and the customization of the mc#but not everything is written for you. and it's fine to just not like something#without sending weird harassing anonymous messages for 2 years straight to a stranger on the internet. lol#honestly criticism is another can of worms and that's not really what i'm talking about here#but i do think that's also part of the entitlement and overfamiliarity as well#so imo it's connected a little bit. something to think about#at the end of the day my advice to other authors about this is to know your limits and know when you need to extract yourself#and know that you don't have to respond to every ask#especially if it makes you uncomfortable#and im definitely not trying to sound like the authority here this is something i've struggled with as well#like i said it is hard to navigate#and authors can be guilty of this too. wanting to defend yourself or insert yourself into conversations where you shouldn't#i've done that myself#and i've also had other authors i dont know be way overly familiar with me in the past#all of this is just an unfortunate part of online community i think. but im trying to be more mindful about it#anyways. this post brought to you by the weird messages in my and my friends' inboxes lately#i just think you should not be telling authors about pesonal bodily functions in anonymous asks#as an example. lol#personal

Yo! Overthinking at 3am made me theorize about Donnie and how a certain injury might have become a key part in saving the world!
Firstly, let's talk about Shredder's energy, particularly about how it's pink.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Karai's flashbacks to her father meeting an "oni" reveal that the Shredder armor was created by the Kraang. So Shredder's energy is basically raw Kraang energy, without the centuries Yokai have spent molding it into what's now called "Mystic".
Tumblr media
You remember the Shredder fight at the docks where he clawed right through Donnie's battleshell, right?
Tumblr media
After the fight's over, the claw marks on his shell are glowing pink, like Shredder's Kraang energy.
Tumblr media
I doubt Donnie designed the insides of his battleshell to glow a bright pink, especially when it's so heavily damaged. I believe it could be the residual energy from Shredder's attack interacting with an open wound that attack caused.
What if it's Donnie's mystic energy fighting off the foreign pink energy, like an immune system fights a disease? And like an immune system creating antibodies to keep that disease from taking hold again, he became resistant or even immune to Kraang infection after he healed?
Maybe this is how Donnie was able to pilot the Technodrome with little-to-no struggle for control. His body came prepared with a resistance/immunity that prevented the Technodrome from rejecting or kraangifying him instead.

Targets Beyond the First: Priority Targets Runners Up!
~
Our runners up this week are @bowtochris, @dravidious, and @yourrightfulking!
@bowtochris — Call to the Front
It's simple, it's elegant, it's clever, it's just great! We've seen a card with support X before actually, but this goes in a fairly different direction. First of all, having it blanket include anything modified rather than specifically looking for creature with +1/+1 counters on them is a good idea. Similar to the aforementioned The Crowd Goes Wild, there's a fair degree of versatility to this. You can use the support to get otherwise unmodified creatures in on the action, but if you've got mana to spare and creatures in need in boosting, why not? Conversely, if everything you want to untap is already modified, nothing's stopping you from just casting it for W. Neat!
@dravidious — Hinata's Gifts
You cheeky little...
I've got to admit, making this card a call back to the creature that would care the most about this contest is very funny. And I have no idea if this is intentional, but Hinata itself does actually shave off all of the generic mana from the spree costs if you point each at a different creature. When the novelty wears off, though, what we're left with is a very solid and versatile buff. While the fact that you can spread the buffs out qualifies it for this contest—and make no mistake, it's still very interesting—I would be remiss not to mention how strong this is in a situation where you can stack all the buffs on a single creature. Hexproof for the blue mode is an interesting choice, too. Obviously it's fine on its own, but it opens up some interesting avenues where you protect one creature from removal and buff up one or two others to swing with.
@yourrightfulking — Kindred Might
Hm, actually kind of surprised the original Kindred cycle didn't use this name. Eh, but that's neither here nor there. Much more interesting than a straightforward board buff—although you can still choose to use it as such—the ability to sculpt the buff completely to your liking is what really intrigues me with this card. Amassing huge boards of a type of your choice is easier than ever, and this functions as a really excellent payoff for doing precisely that. It's also a great use of hybrid design, capitalizing both on what each color is capable of in gameplay terms and on what each color is flavorfully associated with it. Nothing else particularly to say, it's a very solid card.
~
And that brings our runners up to a close. As with last time, I'll be in our Discord (that's HERE for anyone not already on it) all day taking questions and requests for additional commentary in the #fair-talk channel. I hope to see you there! —@spooky-bard
