This is what I think Repliku (Rei)'s body looks like too.

If I ever draw them

Thinkin about how Vanitas's body is an imitation of a human's rather than an actual human body

Like, from an outside perspective, sure it looks pretty legit. He has a face, and arms, and legs, and all that. But peel back the darksuit and you get....uh....a whole bunch of nothing.

It's a body made to be a human's in shape, not in practice

it's why he doesn't have any organs, why he has 2 sets of vocal cords instead of 1, why his hair is fake to the touch

It looks like a mannequin

one of these

and if you hit it hard enough, it will break in some places and need to physically be put back together or scrapped entirely if the damage is too severe

In the end, his body is inanimate. It cannot live, it has no cells, no pulsing blood. It was made as mimicry of humans without knowing what a human body is actually like.

And he's growing to hate it.

It's why the Darkness take human hosts to feel complete. And Vanitas is very much without a host.

Vanitas snorted at the pose and statement. "I wouldn't say friends. We're kin. Nothing more. He's the nicest to me, so I stuck by his side."

Of course he tried finding Luxu! No luck though, as he had no powers. All he really could do was reach out with his mind. To no avail.

"If I did say me and the other 12 had the ability to read each other's minds, what difference would it make? They're not here. And it won't affect you. Useless information."

This being his first time seeing the Unhuman form, Van was naturally a little disturbed.

"...Uh...F-Fangs? Y...you good buddy?"

The monster heaved with a breath filled with malice. Unlike his average Unhuman form which took on attributes of his Unversed, how he looked now was more reptilian.

He slinked across the floor on all fours, stalking Van like prey.

He saw Van as prey.

As she combed through his hair, Vanitas stared at his reflection on the phone screen. He didn't have any apps to entertain himself, nor did he like anyone in his contacts enough to text or call them. Also didn't care enough to "Moogle" anything that interested him.

When she stopped and began to talk to him again, he blinked, barely listening to a word she was saying.

"Uh, wait what? Shower?! You trust me in there? Xehanort usually just hosed me down with a water spell and gave me a towel to dry off. You mean you're giving me free reign of your bathroom with no supervision? How do you know I won't make poisons with your shampoo?"

There it came again. Those words that made him question his options. "Your choice."

Everyone was always saying that to him now. It was always "his choice". Never anyone else's. He hated it. He wanted someone to tell him what to do, even if he didn't like it. He hated being given this option. He didn't have any wants apart from the obvious reawakening of his powers and Void Gear.

"Fine! I'll let you! But only because it's a pain to me," he grumbled and sat down in front of her cross legged.

I have this headcanon that Dusks, if not other Nobodies as well, have a ghostly voice. Like, echoes into existence and is barely louder than a whisper even if they're yelling.

Oh that's cool. Kind of like if they were ghosts. Makes sense.

I had this conversation with my dad a while back about how if we hear ghosts and it sounds like whispers, is could be the ghosts screaming, but doesn't sound like that to us and all we hear are the whispers.

Could be the same for Dusks.

Vanitas's expression was nothing short of dull, unamused, and non-excited. He did not find this all that impressive. In fact, he'd done far more interesting things than Ventus. Like consuming whole worlds within the darkness.

Much cooler than whatever this was.

"I've felt better," he said blankly before turning around and walking in the other direction. "Let's go. I'm sick of this place already."

"Hello hello! Such a surprise you came back to see me. What? Missed getting beaten half to death?"

since i was doing nothing but playing Hyrule Warriors all day I've come to the conclusion that Vanitas would be a Zora

I love the Rito and they are my favorite Zelda race

what can I say, I love birds

But Vanitas would totally be a Zora because of the sharp teeth and shark designs

Ventus would be a Rito though can't change my mind on that

Vanitas stands still through it all, his gaze hardening as everything hits him all at once. He's not immune to its effects, but he knows how not to let it show. He waits for everything to die down before making any attempt to speak again.

The Scrapper's eyes are wide with wonder, having never seen anything like that before. He reaches out and points, looks up at Ventus, and jumps a bit. He seems excited.

"As you were saying," Vanitas says, urging Ventus to continue his previous sentence.

Vanitas looked back at Van with an exposed snarl. "To your kin! You betray the other True Darkness! You betray your kin by joining the light! Throwing away your purpose! You're a cowering backstabber who leaves them at the chance for a so called 'better life'!"

He felt the pain from Van but kept going.

"You're weak! You'd give in to temptation instead of staying strong to the beliefs of your kin! You let yourself become soft."

"Enjoying a cup of flavored water would require me to have the ability to taste said flavor," Vanitas shot back. "Any lack of self-esteem has nothing to do with it."

"Why? There's no point. It won't do anything. It's a waste," Vanitas replied. If he had a tail, it'd be lashing.

But he didn't, only relaying his emotions through his eyes at the moment.
