Ankiro, what's it been like having Tantor work with you at the sanctuary?
"Well, he's eager to learn, at least. Maybe a little too eager."
"He seems to do fine in small stints alone at the sanctuary, but still, I worry. Even if he doesn't mind getting hurt, it reflects on my training of him."
>> Bore your thumb into your temple and your forefingers into your brow.
"I'd be lying if I said it didn't keep me up at day. But, wriggler steps, one night at a time. I don't doubt he'll be able to hold his own at the sanctuary, some night."
#the 'small stints' are no more than an hour or two#though ankiro's careful not to imply that he doesn't trust tantor to be alone#hes just at the sanctuary All The Time#ankiro ic#ankiro melzau#ankiro answers

Transistor: Hearts of Heroes 2 by Molly J. Bragg is coming as an Audio Book from Tantor Media on September 12th, 2023, narrated by Jennifer Pickens:
When Naomi Woodward’s doctor recommended her for a clinical trial, it seemed like the answer to her prayers. She was finally able to get her gender confirmation surgery and the surgery was a resounding success. She finally looked and felt like the woman she always knew she was.
Her new face and new body finally helped her work up the nerve to ask out Anika, the beautiful nurse that lived across the hall. To her delight Anika said yes, but when they are attacked during their date, Naomi quickly discovers that the experimental procedure she went through had some unexpected side effects, and that when Anika told her things with her family were complicated, she really should have listened.
Now, armed with superpowers she barely understands, a snarky artificial intelligence in her head, and allies that include a Superhero, a Dragon, and the literal Devil, she has to keep Anika safe from the archangel who’s out to kill her while they work desperately to prevent a second civil war in heaven.

same anon who asked you your favorite thing about tarzan: i love the answer you gave!! tarzan isn't my number one disney movie, but it is a gorgeous movie that i like a lot and i find it a shame how overlooked it seems to be. i just rewatched it the other day and something i was thinking about is how, when people talk about their favorite disney couples, i rarely see tarzan and jane brought up... but to me, their relationship is incredibly sweet and also very well balanced with the way that they fall for each other while both making an effort to learn about each other and understand each other's worlds, and how they both were willing to leave their home behind to stay together--it's not just jane making a huge sacrifice for tarzan since he very nearly did that for her first. and the scene where he compares his hand to hers when they first meet is so iconic. i also just find them to be an adorable couple.
Thank you! I'm so happy you appreciate Tarzan so much, even though it's not your number one movie. I'm rather curious what your number one movie is, love hearing about people passions.
I completely agree with you! They compliment each other so well. And the way the relationship builds from curiosity to love was so beautifully done.
Another thing I love about this movie is how perfectly it shows love in all forms. Aside from Tarzan and Jane, I love the parallel of Kala and Porter. Kala's love for her adopted son is just as strong as Porter for his daughter. And the fact that both of them were willing to let their children go (Tarzan to England, Jane to stay in the jungle) despite the fact that it would mean they would never, ever see them again!
And then you also have the love of friendship, best shown by Tantor who did a complete 180 and forgot all his fears the moment he thought Tarzan was in danger.

You catch Tantor's words; you have excellent hearing, the big ears aren't just for show.
"I'm over he - "
You get jostled and interrupted by a young violet who's grinning at you, a good bit taller than this body and elbowing you in the side.
"Hey, hey, kiddo, where go in such a hurry, lah?"
You blink slowly and don't answer.
They poke you jauntily.
"Mute now? An zhua?"
You open your mouth slowly and widely until your metal teeth are gleaming, visible, and your maw is stretched uncomfortably wide as the seadweller looks fascinated...and then you snap it shut so fast the air hisses.
Oh, wonderful, they just look more interested.
Children.
"Neat trick!" They say. "How you do it?"
"I'm a monster." You say flippantly. What did you do to attract this child's attention, anyway? You've been acting perfectly troll-like. Until now.
They laugh, and still refuse to move.
Maybe if Tantor finds you, he can help. This is annoying, and you can't do much more than lowkey scare tactics in such a brightly lit public space.
>> You found the bear, you found the bear~ You'd probably do a little skip as you walked if the bear wasn't so big and heavy. Proportionally speaking, it's as big and fat as you are. Surely something this size is exactly what Arty is looking for!
>> Speaking of Arty, you're having a difficult time finding it. The groan of displeasure is just loud enough that it grabs your attention, though by the time you get to where the noise came from, Arty's no longer there.
>> Drat. Looks like you'll have to do more than simply scanning the aisles.
✧・゚:*✧・゚:* ★rty! ★rty, I h★ve the be★r! Wh★t ★isle ★re you in? *:・゚✧*:・゚✧

What are your top 5 favorite Disney short clips?
Interesting question! I’ve been thinking how best to answer... I’m wondering though what you mean by “short clip”? Do you mean animated short, or a short clip from a movie?
I’m gonna go with the second interpretation..
1. Favourite short clip of ALL TIME would be the scene in Tarzan when he’s becoming a man - with Phil Collins singing over him - especially the moment when he gets flung into the air by Tantor. SO EPIC. Gives me chills every time.
2. When young Hercules starts singing, on the cliff, at sunset, when he throws a rock (skips the rock?) The first line “I have often dreamed...” is delivered so well gah
3. The music in Mulan at the pivotal moment of her deciding to change her destiny - especially when she’s in the dragon statue and looks up into the camera with that look of pure determination in her eyes.
4. When Simba is running across the desert back to the Pride Lands - THE MUSIC IS SO EPIC.
5. Any landscape in Brother Bear. I know that’s a cop out answer but come on seriously that movie is pure landscape porn.
I feel like most of my answers were answers because of the amazing fusion of animation, story and music - a fusion that Disney pulls off very well.
Sorry if I totally misinterpreted your question!

that’s JOHN “TARZAN” BRUCE II walking down the street, the 21 year old, who looks like booboo stewart. here in apple peak, they are a zookeeper. some say he act(s) like tarzan from tarzan, since he can be fearless, but also a little bit reserved. — !!!
tarzan is like my top three favourite disney movies ofall time so like !! plot ideas at the bottom of the post!
exteriors
parents were: alice and john bruce i.
the bruces were a wealthy family in apple peak, old money.
there was some scandal when john bruce the first didn’t continue the family business of steel manufacturing and, instead, pursued science (mainly environmental science and )
he met his wife, a documentary-maker, on safari
their big project together was being the first to film and document the unexplored rainforests of the congo, this was in 1996. and they kept it a secret from most people where they were going, so they could really conduct this by themselves and away from prying eyes.
tarzan was born 1997
they survived for one year, in a remote mountain on the congo, and could never escape for fear of being attacked by animals
they were eventually killed by sabor, the leopard, in their makeshift tree-house
the baby tarzan was found by an ape, named kala, and she became his mother
2013: tarzan was found by pygmy peoples when he was 16, but they left him alone in the jungle, only occasionally interacting with him. the next year, when american scientists (the porters !!) on expedition heard about the story, they actively tried to interact with him, and tarzan eventually began to open up, with the help of both groups.
2014: when he was 17, they then took him back to apple peak, and he became the sole benefactor of the bruce fortune -- after the company and the family manor were being taken care of by the board of directors
just this young boy alone in a huge house, where everything was smooth and clean and modern ???
but at least the house was in the middle of the forest, so he spent most of his time outdoors. there’s a huge oak tree back there, planted by great-great grandfather bruce
and also the large glass greenhouse in the backyard. that’s his favourite place.
when it was explained to him, tarzan didn’t know what to do about the company. how could he? he didn’t care for machinery or cars. so the board continues to take care of he company, on the condition that he still shows up as the bruce heir.
and lowkey … he feels that he owes that much to his dead parents. he’ll deal with all the socialising bc he believes that’s the way to honour them
he doesn’t really like … a lot of people, especially since the first three years of his life in western civilization, he was a celebrity. he felt paraded around by the company that sponsored the expedition of the porters, and then his family’s company too. part of the deal to bring him back included interviews with oprah, ellen, and all the newspapers and magazines marvelled about The Ape Boy, The Hairless Wonder, and The Real-Life Tarzan.
BECAUSE THE STORIES OF TARZAN AND DISNEY AND STUFF IS REAL IN APPLE PEAK ??? PEOPLE WOULD KNOW ABOUT TARZAN
he hasn’t read any book or watched any movie about tarzan and refuses to
they really screamed when they found out his name actually was legitimately Tarzan.
and he’s so confused because tarzan was just the name that he ??? he just knew that name, it was the sound the apes would make to call him, and it was the name he knew from his dreams
but yeah huge paparazzi problems
he was just quiet throughout the whole thing
2018: the celebrity hysteria dies down, but he’s still remembered and recognised as Real Tarzan.
appearance
deserves its own section
he has long black hair !!
insanely muscled body
height: 1.94m/6′3″
BOY IS TALL
his hands have been shaped oddly, there’s more space around his knuckles from crawling on all fours all his life. he also has huge hands as a result. will put his hands in his pockets most of the time bc people tend to stare
pls watch this video for visual rep (its from the movie ‘legend of tarzan’!!)
interiors
such a quiet boy, just wants to be left alone with the people he loves (which is a very small number now).
wants to know as much as possible about his family and what their plan for him was
happiest when he’s in the huge backyard of his family manor, or in the zoo.
CALL HIM JOHN. he’ll answer to tarzan bc he’s nice but he’ll be super uncomfortable. not really the type to tell you that he doesn’t like to be called tarzan but he’ll say like “hi ... my name’s john, though ......”
really doesn’t want to be a public attraction anymore
he’s working through it :((
IN APPLE PEAK:
tarzan started introducing himself as john because he was sick of being stared at
was offered a position of zookeeper in the apple peak city zoo
his main area are the ‘exotic animals’ and african animals
he takes care of them and keeps the company
has outright refused to do shows or presentations with the animals. if someone catches him playing with the apes its because he wants to and not as some timed show
his nametag is “john” but everyone would recognise him as tarzan
the company is called: SILVERSTEEL. it’s been around since like colonial times, the bruces like to say they’re direct descendants of old scottish royalty. they have global connections and everything, it’s pretty huge.
no one could find the bruces for years because it was a secret expedition, and they never told anyone where they were going except “africa”
DREAMS:
he doesn’t know whether to consider them memories or dreams
because his life here has been so similar to his ‘true’ life, he can’t tell the difference
but his mother is different sometimes, the language is different, his interactions with his ape family is different, and his dreams seem more vibrant and colourful, while his reality was rather dirty and harsh
like he remembers the names of his ape family as kala, terk, and tantor the elephant -- but did he actually know these names, or are they from his dreams??? whO KNOWS
he’s been having these dreams since he was brought to the civilized world
he hates that everyone acts like they know more about him than he does. which is sort of true but also ... makes him feel so insecure
FUN HEADCANONS THAT DONT MAKE ME SAD
he climbs trees still.
PARKOUR !!!!
probably makes ppl swoon without knowing bc like he smiles and ???? chiselled jawline ?? handsome, strong eyes ??? BICEPS ??? lean body ??? soft boy who loves animals ? wow
the company has tried to make him go on dates before (usually to like any heiresses and heirs) and he’s been nice to all of them but nothing’s rly worked out.
one time he spent more time with the fish in the tiny fish tank at a restaurant than his date
there was also one dinner date at the zoo. which was useless bc he just straight-up left to hang with the animals
the butler of the manor/his babysitter/his driver who’s basically alfred pennyworth: “master john what are you doing up there”
john in a tree with a monkey: “hanging”
PLOT IDEAS
just LOTS of people recognising him as “that jungle tarzan kid that was on oprah like two years ago, oprah actually came out of retirement”. he’ll hate it but like i want that so cvhbkshje
people from old apple peak families that would know the bruces and he’d be more open with them if they knew his family well. he just wants to know more about who he’s meant to be :((
he’ll try out any sport so please all the jocks welcome him
ppl who work in the zoo or go to the zoo a lot!!
GOD GIVE ME A JANE, and the headlines were “ME TARZAN, YOU JANE” for AGES and he just hated it please. but honestly, jane is his life-line. pls he needs her.
GIVE ME THAT “LEGEND OF TARZAN” AESTHETIC

DARK ALPHA'S NEED RELEASES OCTOBER 11, 2021.
From New York Times bestselling author Donna Grant comes another gripping story in her Reaper series featuring a brotherhood of elite assassins who wage war on the Fae at Death's behest—and the women who dare to love them.
There is no escaping a Reaper. I am an elite assassin, part of a brotherhood that only answers to Death. And when Death says your time is up, I’m coming for you…
The latest threat uncovered, it is my honor and duty to oust those responsible for the slaughter of so many and make the Fae Others pay for their crimes. However, nothing could have prepared me for the stunning and curious female that crosses my path. She’s an enigma: equal parts strength and vulnerability. She quiets the rage I’ve carried within me for so long and makes me question Death’s directives for the first time ever. Her tragic, emotional story touches something deep within me, and her bravery is awe-inspiring—which makes it doubly hard to let her return to the enemy and the dangers that await. I never expected her, but I need her. She is everything to me, and I will do whatever it takes to make sure she’s safe and by my side. Forever.

Hazard would be ??? at him at first but it’s definitely possible he could warm up to Tantor in time. Would at least faithfully answer all his language questions or direct him to good sources.
Hazard doesn’t mind aloof at all, he’d probably get along with Sayble just fine. He’s also a funny case where he knows he’s supposed to hate mutants but he just can’t really find it in him, so that wouldn’t be a problem either.
Sonja would be a bit more iffy but also possible, given their mutual interest in learning/knowing things.
Immediately Tantor is interested bc of course he is. Big friendly pacifist goof who's smarter than he acts and loves learning and languages and has a high tolerance for grumpiness could be fun.
Could also potentially get along with Sayble. 😲 He's aloof and stoic at first, but he's friendly and polite. Sonja (Tragedy) might also be a good choice once he's not depressed anymore. He's also grumpy at first, but he's not entirely unfriendly. He respects highly educated people a lot.
#god that’s funny about Karell. I don’t think Hazard would have any idea how to handle him#not in a bad way but he’d be totally baffled by his everything#he’s barely dealt with hemoanons and barely dealt with anyone who has a personality like Karell#I think he’d be so confused he’d short-circuit and be polite out of not knowing how else to act

Pandora’s Drawer
I asked my friends to take a photo of their "drawer for everything" to see if they know what I mean. I thought there will be a bit of confusion about what I am referring to, but surprisingly I immediately received these several photos and the only question I got was about the reason for my strange request.
So yes, apparently everyone has one without even questioning its existence. I personally call it Pandora's drawer. You know, this drawer is filled with batteries, pins, notes, birthday cards, cables, small souvenirs and so on. All things we might "need" someday or at least this is something we like to tell ourselves. We see it as an organisational tool. Creation of our desire to avoid the chaos around us. We've all heard the phrase- "keep it just in case”. For example in case we feel the urge to read our biology notebook from middle school or look at a bunch of postcards from every single trip we've ever taken. But is this really likely to happen?
Ever since I was a kid, I argue with my parents about this false sense of order we’ve created at home, where everything is seemingly arranged, but no one actually cares what we are organizing and, more importantly, why. Especially this model of placing unnecessary items in a magic drawer, hoping it might transform them into something useful one day still seems a bit flawed to me. And although I couldn't really comprehend why I hate this drawer so much, it causes me big frustration, knowing that one day we will open the drawer and there won’t be any space for another potential "lifesaving" item. For me, this drawer is a lie, a mask or even excuse for our real insecurities, related with our irrational fear of losing some part of us by getting rid of our possessions.
This monstrous creation was the one thing, I promised myself I won't allow to happen when I live alone one day. But instead of living up to my high expectation, I now find myself, sitting in my accommodation room, starring at my cluttered drawer, trying to convince myself that this time is different, and I might someday use all these items.
But will I, or will I not? This is the question.
And although the answer is quite obvious, Pandora's drawer once again feeds my curiosity with hopes, reminding me of the potential benefits of my possessions in the future. It is like the one-month trial period we are offered constantly by websites, so we finally give up and end up drowning ourselves in anxiety on whether we want to keep something or not. And so, the storage space becomes fuller and fuller with time, leaving us not with satisfaction but rather with guilt and frustration. And we are no longer curious, but actually scared to open this wicked drawer. Or as Francine Jay puts it in her book" The Joy Of Less”:
"Simply stuffing everything into drawers and baskets won't do the trick: out of sight, out of mind doesn't work here. Even stuff that's hidden away stays in the back of our minds. It's like all those items have their own gravitational field and are constantly pulling us down and holding us back.”
Analyzing the absurdness of such everyday habits, I start to see my possessions as anchors, drowning my spirit rather than lifting it. A drawer filled with false hopes and guilt, which leaves me with an important question:
"Isn't it time to throw everything from Pandora's drawer once and forever and spare ourselves an eternity of regrets?”
