As much as I love both actors, especially Tao, this series for me was very uneven. The first half I actually didn’t care for as much as I did as the last half which is unusual since it’s usually the other way around. I think it had a lot to do with how the female was written with the storyline. The whole plot resolves on “dreams” with a twist (don’t want to give away spoilers for those who still haven’t seen it yet) Now the chemistry between both leads are amazing to a point. I do feel Tao has more of a lovey-dovey feel to him then Song Zu Er especially in the first half, where Zu Er’s character is more stand-off’ish. There’s much more of a connection in the second half between them when her ‘dream’ ends. Overall it’s a nice pleasant unique romcom with a few hiccups here and there.

“Hey, I got you some ice cream”

You heard the voice of Jim Street next to you as he held the ice cream in front of your face making you smile.

“Thanks” you took the ice cream “What’s the occasion?”

“You were complaining how hot it was today, so I thought about getting you ice cream while we took a call.” He explained smiling.

You let out a dramatic gasp with an open mouth “Officer Street are you telling me that while your team was out there chasing a criminal you went to get ice cream?”

He chuckles at you “No, I meant after”

As you were eating the ice cream “Well it’s ice cream I don’t care if some bad guy was running around the city I have the best thing known to man.”

Street knew your love for ice cream so he knows this would make your day, Deacon and Hondo made their way to you as they heard your statement.

“Don’t let Higgs hear you saying that.” Hondo said as he chuckles.

“He would think you would sell the entire LAPD for ice cream if someone bribed you.” Deacon commented.

You looked at him as you ate “Bold of you to assume I wouldn’t do that.”

The man stood there shocked, that’s when you, Street and Hondo burst into laughter. All through the day after every call one of the guys got you something, you got ice cream, iced coffee, smoothie whatever it was it was cold and you were thankful for that. At the end of the day when your shift ended you were in pain as you were making your way out of the building, the guys were in front of you when Luca turned to look at you.

“What’s wrong with you? You don’t look good.” He tells you.

Everyone turned to look at you.

“I think all the things I got today kind of effected my stomach” you tell them “Next time I complain of the heat just throw me in an ice bath okay” you groan.

They laughed at your comment and Luca gave you a pill to help with the stomachache.

You stood at the front of the line, watching your students move in perfect unison, their kata forms flowing like water. Each motion was deliberate, precise—a dance of discipline and control.

"Remember," you called out, your voice steady, "kata isn’t just about memorizing moves. It’s about mastering yourself. Strength comes from control."

From the sidelines, Sensei Wolf leaned against the railing, arms crossed, an amused smirk playing at his lips. His piercing gaze followed the students’ movements, a skeptical glint in his eyes. He finally spoke up, his voice cutting through the focused silence.

"All this slow dancing might look pretty, but it won’t win you a real fight," he drawled, loud enough for you and the students to hear. His tone was laced with sarcasm. "You think they’ll advance by waving their arms around?"

Your eyes snapped toward him, narrowing. You kept your composure, but your jaw tightened. "Kata isn’t about brute strength, Wolf. It’s about control, precision. It teaches discipline—something you might want to learn."

A few of the students stifled giggles, but quickly fell silent under Wolf’s sharp gaze. He pushed off the railing, walking closer, his presence commanding.

"Discipline’s great," he said, voice low and challenging. "But out there, in a real fight? It’s the ones who strike hardest and fastest that win."

You crossed your arms, meeting his gaze head-on. "Control isn’t weakness. It’s what keeps you from making mistakes when it matters most. You’d know that if you watched instead of judged."

Wolf’s smirk deepened, but he said nothing more, giving a dismissive shrug before walking away.

The next day, the stadium was a hive of tension and anticipation. The students stood in formation, their faces set with determination. Today was the big test—the sparring matches that would decide if Miyagi-Do advanced to the next stage of the Sekai Taikai.

Wolf stood at the edge of the mat, watching with his usual air of detached skepticism. His eyes flicked to you once, a silent challenge passing between you. You returned his stare, silently daring him to underestimate you again.

The matches began. The first few rounds were tough, the opponents aggressive, their strikes fast and furious. But the Miyagi-Do students held their ground, moving with fluid grace, using their kata forms to block, deflect, and counter. Each motion was a testament to their training—a balance of power and control.

When one of your students, Hawk, faced a particularly aggressive opponent, you called out, "Remember your form! Stay focused!"

Hawk nodded, his breathing steady. He waited, patient and calm. When his opponent lunged, he sidestepped with a smooth pivot, using the momentum to sweep their leg out from under them. The opponent hit the mat hard.

The match ended with a triumphant cheer from the Miyagi-Do students. Victory after victory followed, each one earned through a blend of skill, strategy, and discipline. By the end of the day, your dojo had secured a place in the next round.

The air buzzed with excitement and relief as the students gathered, congratulating each other. You felt a swell of pride, your heart pounding. You turned, searching for Wolf. He was standing off to the side, arms crossed, an unreadable expression on his face.

You walked over, a triumphant smile tugging at your lips. "You were saying?" You teased, raising an eyebrow.

He chuckled, the smirk returning. "Alright, I’ll admit it. They did good." His eyes softened slightly. "You did good."

"Control and precision," you reminded him, a playful edge to your voice. "It’s not just ‘slow dancing.’"

He stepped closer, his eyes never leaving yours. "Maybe I misjudged it," he admitted, voice lower now. "Maybe I misjudged you."

You felt your heart skip a beat, but you kept your cool. "Well, I’m glad you finally see it."

As you turned to walk away, you felt his hand gently catch your wrist. You paused, turning back to meet his intense gaze.

"Let me take you out," he said, his voice softer, more sincere than you'd ever heard it.

Surprised but intrigued, you tilted your head, a slow smile forming. "You want to learn more about foundations?" You teased.

He grinned, the rough edges of his usual demeanor softening. "I want to learn more about you."

Your eyes sparkled. "We’ll see if you can keep up."

"Looking forward to it," he replied, his voice low and promising.

As you walked away, you couldn’t help but feel the weight of his gaze on you. Maybe there was more to Sensei Wolf than you'd thought.

And maybe, just maybe, this was only the beginning.

Their scheming this episode was god tier.

The emperor's grace is as sturdy as a puff of air but it was still delicious to see Song Mo on Dou Zhao's advice play the old weakling like a fiddle and get exactly what he wanted with a bonus royal reprimand to his loser father at that.
