I honestly do not know how he was in the novel, but his drama version doesn't seem that evil to me. He does kill people, yes, but he only kills people with ill intentions who would also not hesitate to kill him if given the chance.

And honestly, considering how much torture and anguish he experiences daily, it's a miracle he does not kill people on sight, without bothering to interrogate them first about their intentions.

Honestly the way he continues to be puzzled as to how and why there is a person in this world who doesn’t want to kill him or use him is ouch!

PS he’s got some sort of magic fire burning him nonstop since babyhood, the cultivators tortured him as a kid and literally bled him for beverages and then shut him up here sending a gaggle of ladies in after a while all of whom either want to straight out kill him and drink his blood or fuck him so they can have his kid which they can they use a status and magic tool while they kill him and drink his blood and honestly I get why this guy acts like his ulcers have ulcers.
