Prompt Day 5: On the Road Again
Word Count: 997
Rating: G
Pairing: None
CW: None
Summary: Wayne joins the band on the road for a couple of days
@corrodedcoffinfest
Wayne really hadn’t wanted to, but here he was.
Since Corroded Coffin’s tour began, the guys had tried to get Wayne to join them on the road for a few shows. The older man always turned them down, insisting that they’d have more fun without him, and that tour bus living wasn’t for him.
But, just like it had been from the day he was born, Wayne would do anything to make his nephew happy. So, he told them he’d come on tour with them for one weekend. Two days only, no ifs, ands, or buts.
The shows that lined up with the weekend Wayne chose were Orlando and Tampa, and Wayne thanked God it wasn’t the summer. Never mind dealing with the weather, Wayne worried the heat would make the tour bus smell worse than it probably already did.
“Wanna visit the Mouse while you’re here?” Gareth teased when they picked Wayne up from the airport.
“I sat in front of kids who were headed to Disney –I’ve heard enough about that damn rat to last the rest of my life.”
The show that night was in a nice-sized venue, but like most of the venues on this tour, it was standing room only. That wasn’t going to work for Wayne. Luckily, there was a sound booth towards the back of the crowd with a chair Wayne could comfortably watch the show from. Or maybe just watch the show, Wayne thinks as he eyes the hard-looking plastic seat.
The music was even louder than when Wayne would swing by to pick Eddie up from rehearsal at Gareth’s place. The audience only added to the noise. That was good for the band, he knew, but it was also grating on his nerves.
Eddie belonged on that stage, though. Wayne watched his nephew work the crowd, never missing a note or lyric. He assumed for the lyrics, anyway. Wayne couldn’t hear Eddie clearly through the speakers, the bass drowning out his voice in every song.
But as he watched the show, watched Eddie effortlessly play his music, Wayne knew this was exactly where the kid was meant to be. The stage was his home just as much as that one-bedroom trailer back in Hawkins.
Seeing Eddie up on a stage felt so natural and right. But the rest of the night’s events were some of the wildest Wayne’s ever seen. The number of people waiting between the backstage door and the bus left him speechless. Security officers kept them at bay, but the cacophony of screams made Wayne think he’d landed himself in the middle of a riot.
The guys took it all in stride, though. They were sweaty and tired, but beamed at their fans as they basked in the attention.
About halfway to the tour bus, a woman in a modified red Corroded Coffin tank top lifted her shirt up, flashing the band as they passed by.
Wayne looked to his nephew and friends for their reactions. There hardly were any, though. To them, it was something that happened from time to time—it didn’t faze them anymore. But Wayne couldn't help but shake his head as he kept walking.
“Jesus Christ,” he mumbled under his breath.
When they finally made it onto the tour bus, Wayne felt like he escaped a war zone. The roar from the crowd outside could still be heard, but it was mostly muffled.
“Woo!” Eddie cheered. Using both hands, he rubbed over his face to get any excess sweat off.
“How’d ya like it?” Jeff asked as he walked towards the mini fridge. He pulled out two cans of beer and handed one to the older man.
“Was loud,” Wayne said as he popped open the can. “But you guys look real good up there.”
Jeff slapped a hand on Wayne’s shoulder in thanks.
“So, old man,” Eddie said as he plopped down on the couch, “wanna party?”
Even the mere question made Wayne feel a hundred years old. Party? His internal clock was all messed up, trying to adjust to not being on the night shift. Right now, the only one Wayne wanted to party with was a bed.
“Boy, you must’ve lost your damn mind,” his uncle answered him.
The guys chuckled from behind Wayne, and Eddie looked up with an amused smile.
“I’m messing with you. After a show we just kinda wind down for a bit then hit the sack. Have a beer, eat something, and just bullshit for a while.”
“Too fucking exhausted for anything else,” Gareth added.
Wayne sat down on the bench situated next to the dining table.
“I might not even make it through that whole party, but it sounds good to me.”
The next day was the same thing, just a new city. Same uncomfortable chair for Wayne, bass drowning Eddie’s voice out, screaming audience members that swarmed wherever the band would be. But there was one thing that made everything more than worth it.
“Ed? Can I talk to you for a minute?” Wayne asked after the show in Tampa, while Jeff was in the bus shower, and Gareth and Frank attempted to pop a bag of popcorn without burning it.
“What’s up?”
Wayne had never been an emotional man, especially on the outside. He usually just mumbled and hoped it conveyed the message.
“I, uh,” Wayne started, slipping his hands into his pockets. “Watching you be that rockstar up on stage is…it’s something that you always wanted. And you went for it and look at you now. You put your mind to it, worked hard, and it paid off. Eddie, I—I’m really proud of ya, son.”
“Thanks, Wayne.”
Eddie was equally as awkward with emotions; even though Wayne’s words touched him almost to the point of tears, Eddie wasn’t sure how to express it. Before he overthought it, Eddie stepped forward and hugged him.
Wayne wasted no time in embracing him back.
“Thanks, Wayne,” Eddie repeated. “For everything.”

Chapter 28: Meliora
Summary: In this chapter, Addeline gives birth to her fifth child, but it doesn't go as smoothly as she had planned!
Word Count: 2,500 Words
In this chapter, we see Addy and Swiss welcome their child into the world. We have no reason to believe that the delivery won't be a smooth one except for the fact that this is Addy and of course something is going to happen.
The 2027 North American tour began without a hitch. Being pregnant, Addy had to watch most of it from the sidelines, but she enjoyed the show, nonetheless. During their show in Tampa, she even got a chance to catch up with Ellie, who was taken aback by Kaisarion's growth and even more astonished to discover her friend expecting her fifth child.
Their destination in Europe proved much more eventful. Finding themselves in France, Addeline was lending a hand to the crew, helping them unload their instruments for a show that night. Despite all the warnings about lifting heavy equipment at nine months pregnant, Addy’s stubbornness could not be swayed. She was three days away from her due date, an accomplishment that filled her heart with immeasurable pride.
She was helping Mountain lift his drum set into the bus when she felt a gush of water drench her feet. Mountain felt the splash of water and quickly jumped back, “Gross, Addy! You got your baby juice on me.”
“Shit!” the woman said. She was nervous but this nervousness was not like before. This time, her nerves were different. She wasn’t afraid for her baby’s life but rather fortunate and thrilled about the upcoming birth.
Having experienced a natural birth and two preterm births before, she was now grateful for the opportunity to have a normal, full-term pregnancy in the hospital with pain management tailored to her preferences.
“Mountain,” she regretfully informed him, “I’m sorry but I gotta go.”
“Yeah!” he shouted with a know-it-all tone, “Don’t worry about it! Go find your baby daddy!” He yelled good luck as the woman vanished from sight.
In the intensity of the moment, she completely forgot about the need to search for Papa Emeritus. Instead, she began feverishly searching for Swiss, asking everyone she encountered on her way back into the venue if they had seen the ghoul. With the help of a few kind souls, she was pointed onto the right path, and she hurriedly followed their directions, determined to find him back on stage. As she ran towards him, he extended his arms, bracing himself for the impact of her full-force sprint. He eagerly wanted to catch her when she reached him.
Just as she found her way into his arms, she couldn’t contain the news any longer and blurted out that her water had broken. Suddenly, Papa emerged from behind the curtain. Swiss placed his hands on Addy’s stomach as Papa rushed to his wife, unable to contain his excitement. He didn’t even mention the mix-up with Swiss because he was so overjoyed.
Addy was aware of Swiss’s strong desire to be present for the birth of their son. She pondered on a way to subtly prompt Papa to extend an invitation to him to the hospital. Unlike with the twins, where it happened organically, she wanted to avoid any suspicion of a secret relationship.
Fortunately, they wouldn’t need to plot. Addy felt an intense pressure building inside her, reminiscent of the moment when a baby begins to crown. It’s impossible, she thought, realizing she hadn’t felt any contractions yet. Her water had just broken, so how could she bypass the typical stages of labor? Reflecting on the past two days, she pondered if the mild cramping she had felt could have been contractions.
Swiss quickly understood Addy’s distress and exchanged a knowing glance with her. “GO GET THE PARAMEDICS OVER HERE,” he shouted to a random passerby. Then, he turned to Addeline and Papa and began to give them directions, “Okay, Addy, you need to lay down and spread your legs. Cardinal, you need to check to see if the baby is crowning.” The urgency in his voice was evident as they all sprang into action.
Papa swiftly obeyed the man’s instructions, lifting up Addy’s dress and confirming what she had felt, “I see the head,” he revealed, his nervousness evident, “What do we do?” he asked anxiously.
“We wait for the medics to get here,” Swiss reassured him.
Addy’s discomfort intensified as the labor pains finally found her, and still, no one had come to help.
“Shit!” Swiss exclaimed, frustration evident in his voice.
A crowd had gathered around the young woman by this time. The passerby returned with news that the medics were unavailable.
“Shit, shit!” Swiss repeated, feeling the weight of the situation, “Does anyone here know how to deliver a baby?” He was hopeful that at least one person in the crowd had experience.
When no one volunteered, Swiss turned to Papa. “Cardinal, I’m going to need you to trust me,” he said urgently.
Papa, already on the verge of a breakdown, asked, “What do you mean, trust you?”
Both Papa and Addy were overwhelmed, tears streaming down the young woman’s face as she realized that this birth was not going as planned either.
Swiss, being observant and resourceful recalled every detail of the twins’ birth. He quickly recognized Aether in the crowd and asked his fellow ghoul to call an ambulance immediately. He knelt between Addy’s legs and reassured her, “Okay, Adds, listen to me. You know what to do, okay? When you feel a contraction, you push, and I’ll count to three. Got it?”
Addy, her face a mess of emotions, looked down at him and nodded, indicating that she understood. The Cardinal stepped aside, putting all his trust in the multi-ghoul.
Swiss heard Addy’s moans and asked, “Is that a contraction?” She nodded in confirmation. “Then push, now!” he urged. Addy pushed with determination as the crowd gathered around. Cirrus had arrived at the scene and knelt beside Swiss to offer support. She was amazed by his bravery and ability to take charge in an emergency. She couldn’t help but feel a sense of delight seeing him deliver his own child.
This pattern continued for what felt like an eternity, with Addeline pushing longer than ever before. Tensions ran high as Papa, who had been quietly supporting his wife, finally broke the silence, asking, “Is everything okay? Why is it taking so long?”
In the midst of the anxiety, Swiss remained calm and confidently announced, “I got it! The shoulders are out!”
Suddenly, the tense atmosphere transformed into a defining moment for the crowd, who had become fully invested in the well-being of the mother and baby.
“Addy, one more push!” Swiss encouraged. With one final, determined push, Swiss skillfully delivered a baby boy, and the joy in his eyes was undeniable. Cirrus let out a sigh of relief and rushed to check on Addy, while Papa hurried to Swiss to ensure the newborn was okay. Swiss couldn’t help but admire the child’s precious facial features.
In that moment, the question that had been on everyone’s mind was finally answered. This baby, with his mixed features including his skin color, was undoubtedly Swiss’s child. The resemblance was clear to everyone except Papa.
Swiss and Cirrus exchanged glances, their unspoken understanding spoke volumes. They shared a look filled with both worry and hope, silently communicating their uncertainty about whether Papa would notice the resemblance.
Papa, unaware of the cryptic conversation, took the baby from Swiss and knelt beside Addy, asking, “My darling, what’s his name?”
Addy, noticing the surprised look on Swiss’s face, mirrored his expression as she laid eyes upon her son. Swiftly wiping away her own look of dread, she confidently answered, “His name is Meliora.”
As the ambulance arrived to take Addy and the baby to the hospital, Addy silently bid farewell to Swiss. They gently placed her and the baby on a stretcher for transport, with only Papa allowed to accompany them. Cirrus, sensing Swiss’s sadness, placed a comforting hand on his shoulder and offered words of encouragement, saying, “You did amazing, Dad.” Swiss looked into Cirrus’s eyes and planted a friendly kiss on top of her head. The two embraced tightly, displaying a strong bond of friendship.
Swiss and Cirrus arrived at the hospital shortly after the ambulance whisked Addeline away. Cirrus remained calm while the frantic man rushed up to the lobby desk demanding to know where the maternity ward was, "I'm looking for an Addeline Copia," he shouted.
The unphased receptionist pointed the two in the right direction.
As Swiss's nerves got the better of him, Cirrus begged him to calm down, "Get it together, dude. She's in a room. She's not going anywhere."
"I know, I know," he boasted, "I'm just excited to see my son."
Cirrus whipped her head around, "He’s not your son, here, Swiss. He’s Copia’s. Don’t let your emotions give yourself away.”
Swiss having to maintain the pretense that the child belonged to another man definitely cast a shadow over his mood, “I guess we can just call you little sunshine,” he snapped back.
Addeline was sitting on the bed with Meliora when the ghoul and ghoulette walked in. a wide smile lighting up her face upon seeing Swiss. The scene was heartwarming as Swiss extended his arms to welcome the new bundle of joy. With a natural ease, he took the child from Addy, cradling the infant gently as if it were second nature to him. "Hey little man," he whispered, tenderly playing with the baby's tiny fingers.
Wanting to remind Swiss of what they discussed, Cirrus asked, "Where is Papa Emeritus?"
"He stepped out to call Sister Imperator," Addeline said.
Swiss remained unphased by her words. He had seen Addy give birth before, he witnessed the growth of all her children, always there for the highs and lows, but the moment he gazed down at his own flesh and blood, the magic he felt was unparalleled. The realization that he had created this life filled him with a profound sense of wonder. Even Cirrus couldn’t help but smile.
The ghoulette turned to look at Addy, who was admiring her secret lover gazing down upon their son, “How do you feel?”
“I don't know," the mother replied, "I actually feel kind of dizzy.”
Horror overtook Cirrus as she noticed the alarming amount of blood around Addy, "Unholy Satan, Addy you're bleeding!”
Addy's heart rate began to increase, causing one of the monitors to beep relentlessly as she slipped out of consciousness.
"Swiss!" Cirrus urgently called out for help, her voice filled with desperation. The man was already outside the door, shouting for assistance.
Papa Emeritus, upon seeing the medical staff rush to his wife's room, ended the call with Sister Imperator and hurried back to the woman’s side.
The tension in the hospital room escalated as Addeline began to hemorrhage. Panic and urgency filled the air as medical staff rushed to stabilize her condition. Swiss and Cirrus stood by, their faces etched with worry and fear as they witnessed the sudden turn of events.
Papa Emeritus began yelling over the commotion, “What in the hell is happening?”
The staff swiftly started to wheel Addy out as a doctor urgently stated to Copia, "Your wife is hemorrhaging. We need to rush her into surgery to save her life. Can she receive blood?"
“Yes, yes,” she can receive blood,” he responded frantically.
The doctor didn't pause as she continued, "We may need to perform a hysterectomy on your wife..."
Copia instinctively interjected, "Don't you dare take out her womb!"
Swiss, initially upset about Addy's condition, now directed his frustration at Copia, "She could lose her life, and you're concerned about her giving you more kids?"
Papa, coming to his senses, regained his composure and allowed logic to prevail, "No, of course, just… save her! She has five little ones."
The doctor acknowledged his comment and left the room, with the trio of musicians following closely behind.
Fear gripped the hallway as Swiss, Papa, and Cirrus anxiously paced outside the surgical room. A tense silence filled the air during the seemingly endless moments. Finally, after an hour, the doctor emerged, removing her scrub cap and wiping her brow. Papa rushed to her, with Swiss and Cirrus following closely, "Is she alright?" his voice filled with desperation.
"She did fantastic!" the woman revealed, "The bleeding was minimal, and we were able to fix her right up! She can stay here overnight with the baby and go home in the morning."
The one question still lingered in everyone's thoughts, "What about her womb?" Papa asked.
The doctor placed an ungloved hand on his shoulder and smiled, "She can still have babies, Mr. Copia."
A look of relief overtook the man's face.
After the news of Addy's recovery sank in, Cirrus reluctantly reminded everybody, "Um… Papa Emeritus… what about the show?"
He touched his forehead, regretfully informing his ghoulette, “The show must go on I’m afraid."
"Shouldn’t someone stay here and wait for Addy to wake up?"
Papa shook his head, "You both return to the venue and let the others know to continue with the soundcheck. I'll stay here." Swiss felt disheartened to be asked to leave. He longed to be by Addeline's side when she regained consciousness, but he understood he couldn't insist. The ghoul passed Meliora to Papa and he and Cirrus took their leave.
Addy opened her eyes, dazed and confused about what had transpired. A fragment of her day had disappeared, and it startled her upon awakening from her slumber.
Directly in front of her, Papa sat in a chair slumped over, taking a nap in his hands. He’d been patiently waiting for her to regain consciousness for nearly an hour.
Addeline jumped up, gasping as she pulled out the nasal cannula from her nose. This stirred Papa awake. Rising from his chair, he gently took her by the arms to calm her, "Amore... Amore..."
She began to relax, looking around, recalling that she had just given birth. She frantically placed her hands on Copia’s cheeks, sandwiching them between her hands, “Meliora?”
“My dear, he’s fine. They’ve taken him to the nursery.”
“What happened?” she asked, confused.
“Well, you lost a lot of blood, so you passed out. They had to do surgery on you.”
“Surgery?”
“Don’t fret, Tesoro,” the man could see she was frightened, “It wasn’t invasive at all. The doctor was able to fix you up without cutting you open or taking away your womb.”
“My God!” Addeline was shocked to discover everything that had happened to her, “Am… am I okay?”
Copia laughed and pulled the woman’s head down to his lips. He kissed the top of her head as he assured her, “You are perfectly well, darling.”
“Swiss? Cirrus? They were here, weren’t they?”
“They were,” he told her, “But I sent them back to the venue so that—”
“The show! Papa your show!”
“You are a nervous Nellie, my pet. I will make the show. That is not for you to worry about.”
Maintaining eye contact with Copia, she nodded and let her head fall back onto the pillow. A subtle smile graced her lips as he reciprocated the gesture. He held her hand tightly, determined to stay with her until he would reluctantly have to depart.

An LGTBQ+ pride event usually held along the riverwalk in Tampa, Florida, has been canceled after hard-right Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a bevy of anti-LGBTQ+ bills into law this week.
Tampa Pride President Carrie West confirmed to several local news outlets that the event, called Tampa Pride on the River, would not go ahead in September because it features drag performances at a public venue. One of the state’s new laws targets drag where it might be visible to minors.
In the end, we didn’t want to take any chances,” West told the Tampa Bay Times on Thursday.
“Really, I’m sorry,” West told WFLA, an NBC affiliate.
The event usually draws around 20,000 people to downtown Tampa for food, drinks and entertainment in an area without any fencing, according to a St. Petersburg CBS affiliate.
It is at least the second pride event to be canceled as Florida Republicans continue to attack the LGBTQ+ community. Officials in Port St. Lucie — a city north of West Palm Beach — axed a pride parade last month.
On Wednesday, DeSantis appeared at Tampa’s private Cambridge Christian School with a fistful of Sharpies to sign a number of bills curbing the rights of LGBTQ+ people in his state, which he dubbed “a citadel of normalcy.”
In addition to targeting drag shows, the new legislation bans gender-affirming health care for minors, including puberty blockers, while implementing new rules for adults who elect the procedures. It bars people from using bathrooms associated with their gender identity and cracks down on preferred pronoun use in schools. DeSantis also expanded the state’s so-called “Don’t Say Gay” law to reach classrooms from pre-K through eighth grade, prohibiting in vague terms any mention of gender identity.
The governor tossed the Sharpies used to sign the bills into a crowd of onlookers, PBS Newshour noted.
DeSantis is widely expected to announce his bid for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination in the coming days.

That’s some nice pics, Nick thought as he was currently looking through Lily’s Instagram account. As usual after a show, he would go on sturnioloteam to see what people had posted about the tour and he stumbled upon Alex’s post. He immediately recognised her and as he was on the girl’s account, he saw that she had tagged someone for the photo credits. Nick, as a fellow photographer, wanted to see who had taken such clear pictures and this is how he found himself admiring an Instagram account full of landscapes – mostly of the sun or the moon. He noticed how good her camera and editing were and almost liked a post from three months ago before realising the mistake he was about to make. What he should have noticed however, was that his brother Matt was actually following the exact same account. But because Nick did not pay attention to the common follower as it was Matt’s second account, he simply went back to watching videos people posted about today’s show.
Then, as Nick was now checking that everything was fine with the video he had posted earlier – he was not used to posting with the timer but it was show time and he had no choice if he wanted to stick to the schedule, he saw Matt going through the bag of gifts they received from fans. Today’s video – which they had literally recorded the day before as they had forgotten about it due to the tour – had been showing their tour bus as well as some of their favourite gifts. The triplets had a huge bag full of friendship bracelets, drawings, letters and also plushies which they would all keep. Matt, however, couldn’t get over two specific presents. Both were Pokemon related: the first one had been cards made for each triplet and the second one was a painting of them as trainers. They hadn't been able to show the former in the video as it had been given to them today, but the latter had been greatly exhibited when the triplets had run over what they received since the beginning of their tour. They were grateful for all their gifts but those two would definitely have a special place in their hearts.
Nick, Matt and Chris were all grateful for their fans and were careful not to take them for granted. Each show was a blessing to be able to meet a small part of their fanbase and they couldn’t wait to experience another one the next day.
~~~
New day, new city, new show. Nick, Matt and Chris were now in Tampa, Florida for the penultimate show of the Versus Tour. As Nick was unfortunately out of the competition to win the tour – he would need three shows to win but only two were left, Matt was the last contender to prevent Chris from winning. The middle triplet only needed to win the Tampa and Fort Lauderdale shows to tie with his youngest brother. No one knew how it would turn out if two of them were tied at the end of the tour but every fan hoped for something ridiculously funny that would characterise the triplets well.
The three brothers had arrived in the venue and were talking with their manager Laura to organise the different events of the day, the first one being the “small talk” with fans.
“Ok guys so we have a slight change of numbers regarding the group pictures,” Laura explained. “We can either keep two hundred people before the show and have a hundred after. Or, we split fifty-fifty with a hundred and fifty before and after the show. Any preferences?”
“If the fifty fans who were supposed to take pictures before the show don’t mind changing then I’d be fine with splitting equally,” Nick shared his opinion first.
“Yeah, I’m okay with that as well.” Matt agreed and Chris nodded to confirm as well.
Laura thanked them for their input and got ready to select the fans who were going to switch the time of their pictures. She expected most of them to not mind as they would still get their picture taken nonetheless, and maybe even prefer this as the fans who were taking group pictures after the show had the advantage of having the winning triplet wear his crown and medal. She looked at the last people who had been checked in for small talk and went to stand near the space where it took place so that she could easily notify the fans before joining the next line.
The intimate meet and greet alternative was now starting and everything went smooth as usual: Nick, Matt and Chris enjoyed meeting the fans as well as taking pictures with them; and they were also glad to be able to give a worthy experience to their fans. All was going great, and it got even better as Matt noticed who the next two people he was going to meet were – thanks to his good memory of faces, he loved seeing the same people coming back at multiple shows.
“Hey, we meet again!” Matt said as Alex walked towards him before they shared a hug. “How are you?”
“Hiii,” Alex replied. “I am so happy to see you again, how are you?”
“I’m good, I’m good.”
“I hope you’re glad to see I switched colours for you, decided to follow my friend on this!” Alex exclaimed as she was dressed in blue from head to toes.
“Yeah, I see that. Thanks for the support, for real.” Matt felt genuinely appreciated as he remembered the blonde having supported Chris the last two times he met her.
Alex then asked Matt to take their pictures after he signed a photocard, to which he agreed and took at least ten selfies before doing the same with 0.5x pictures. She thanked Matt for that and quickly hugged him before walking towards Nick as Matt was joined by Lily.
“Hello there, again.” Matt said while smiling at Lily.
“Heyy, it’s been such a long time oh my god!” Lily joked as she hugged the triplet.
“For real, how you doin’ though?”
“Well, I’m always doing great when seeing you. Hope it’s reciprocated,” Lily let out a small laugh as she felt comfortable teasing Matt.
“Hmm, I don’t know about that…” Matt feigned to hesitate before confirming it was indeed nice to see the girl again. “You wanna take pictures?”
“Always, thanks babe!”
Although he didn’t mind pet names, Matt was often surprised when fans would use endearing terms with him but he felt glad that people were comfortable enough to act as they would with their friends or inner circle. Then as usual, Matt took a dozen of pictures before giving the phone back and also giving the photocard of him signed. Lily thanked him again and wished for his victory as she believed that he still had all his chances to win today’s show and the whole tour in general.
~~~
Maybe Lily and Alex were lucky charms. Matt had won today’s show, which put him at five victories against Chris’s six and meant that he still had the opportunity to prevent Chris from winning the tour. For his and Nick’s sake, Matt was ready to give it his all during the next and last show in Fort Lauderdale. However, he chose to try and forget about the eventual result of the tour as it was now time to take the last group pictures of the day.
Weirdly enough, Matt had noticed that neither Alex nor Lily were there during the first half so it certainly meant that he would see them now – which he was right about. The two girls were amongst the last fans to get their pictures taken and the triplets, although starting to feel the exhaustion of the day, were enjoying seeing them again. Nick, Matt and Chris, after hugging Alex and Lily, knew to put Matt in the middle as he was the winner of the day and also due to the girls both wearing blue for him. Similar to the show in Atlanta, they all made hearts in the first picture before the triplets chose to raise their medals as Lily pointed to Matt’s crown in the second picture. The girls thanked Nick, Matt and Chris before the youngest triplet called out to them as they were leaving the area:
“I better see some deers on that face if you come back here!”
“Promise!” Lily replied as she waved and followed Alex to the exit.
As he watched the two best friends walk away, Matt couldn’t help the smile on his wave as he waved back at them. He tried to focus on the few people left that were having their pictures taken with him and his brothers but his brain seemed to like drifting back to the two girls, and one in particular. She had been making him feel so at ease, it was simple to forget the anxiety he could sometimes experience during the tour due to the amount of people there. Matt was obviously thankful for all the fans coming but he had to admit it was always a bit easier to feel more comfortable with the fans that were closer in age than the younger ones, as sweet as they could be. For instance, although not fans, Matt had enjoyed a lot the show they did with the fans’ dads on stage as they were truly refreshing and fun to have around. He had gotten along so well with his partner Mark that it only made him more impatient for the last show as Matt and his brothers would see their family again.

From Voyage Band to Soul Mafia: Celebrating a lifetime of drumming and playing music
Even though I abandoned any ideas of working as a professional musician a long time ago, I still feel a big part of my identity is wrapped up in being a musician. Particularly being a drummer.
youtube
It’s lasted from my early days in middle school, when I tried a lot of different instruments – guitar, piano, trumpet – before I sat behind a drumkit and felt like I had finally come home. I spent years as a younger player, with an inexplicably tolerant mom, practicing with deafening intensity while learning the intricacies of Stewart Copeland’s hi hat work in The Police and Simon Phillips’ odd time grooves with Jeff Beck and Pete Townshend.
One of my proudest moments in a life studded with amazing experiences was co-founding a group in college, The Voyage Band, which went on to earn a recording contract with Motown Records.
youtube
I have tried to stay active as a musician even as my journalism career unfolded, playing with awesome blues artists like Bob Beach and Barbara Blue in Pittsburgh, rocking out with bands like Cats on a Smooth Surface in New Jersey and backing singer songwriters like Fran Snyder and Shana “Banana” Smith in Florida.
Now I’m playing regularly with the first funk band I’ve been a member of since the Voyage days, a wonderful group of musicians in Florida called Soul Mafia.
youtube
It’s tough to pull together a real band in the Tampa Bay area; there aren’t loads of venues where a group larger than four pieces can play comfortably. And sometimes it feels like the pay rates haven’t progressed much since the days when I first came to Florida and made about $100 a gig backing folks who needed a drummer quickly.
But the folks in Soul Mafia are wonderful people -- great players who are fun to spend time with and have a deep love for the songs we’re doing, covering tunes by Chaka Khan, Bruno Mars, Dua Lipa, Prince and much more. We have a great time onstage and just want to help everybody in the audience dance and have a good time along with us.
If you’re interested in learning more about the band – especially booking us for clubs, events or private functions – please visit www.soulmafiaband.com, or contact me through this website. Below is a look at three tunes we performed for WUSF-FM’s digital music series Soul Sessions, which was so much fun!
Hope to see you at the next gig!

Well duh!
here's nothing Taylor Swift fans love more than an Easter egg. Give them a hint of a secret message, a conspiracy theory, or something to decode and Swifties are all over it.
So, it's no surprise, as they (we) anxiously await the announcement of international tour dates, that they would take matters into their own hands and try to determine where Swift might be playing next once she completes her current U.S. performances.
What is the likelihood of a Vancouver show? Let's break it down:
Seattle vs. Vancouver
Taylor Swift has been on five international tours; her current Eras tour is her sixth. Of her five previous tours, she came to Vancouver for three of them: Speak Now, Red, and 1989.
Swift skipped Vancouver during the Fearless tour, her first ever, and the Reputation Stadium tour, but she did play multiple other Canadian cities and Seattle.
ts1989fanatic:
Actually this is factually incorrect, for reputation she played two nights in Toronto that’s it.
Was Vancouver left off the list because she was already playing Seattle? Perhaps. There were already some artists who will either play Vancouver or Seattle for their west coast shows.
Swift played Vancouver during the Speak Now and Red tours and skipped Seattle but she played both during 1989. So overall it's hard to tell if we can bank on a Vancouver show given that the Eras tour is coming to Seattle.
Swift had another scheduled concert tour, Lover Fest, that was cancelled due to COVID and Canada wasn't included in any of the dates announced back in September 2019. Lover Fest included four U.S. shows, seven European shows, and one show in Brazil.
Does Canada count as "international"?
ts1989fanatic:
Hell yes it does, we are a separate country from the US, we have borders and everything. And a lot of us can’t afford to travel to the US or Toronto.
Additionally, previous Vancouver tour dates weren't necessarily considered part of the international tour. In some cases, Canadian shows were announced at the same time as the U.S. dates as part of a North American leg.
ts1989fanatic:
We damn well should be considered part of the international tour.
For Red and 1989 (the last time Swift performed in Vancouver) the Canadian shows were performed concurrently with the U.S. ones based on proximity.
However, Swift also performed significantly fewer shows in the last two tours. Reputation had 53 shows, only six of which were outside of North America and Canadian fans are adamant that Swift won't neglect her fans north of the border.
ts1989fanatic:
I wish I was as certain of this as some, but I honestly don’t know.
Would BC Place be booked already?
BC Place is the largest venue in Vancouver (capacity 54,500) and the one that Swift performed at on her last two visits. Still, its size doesn't come close to the capacity of some of the arenas she has performed at so far during the Eras tour. For example, Raymond James Stadium in Tampa holds 75,000 and NRG Stadium in Houston holds 72,220 fans.
ts1989fanatic:
So add more dates, instead of one night make it two or three like most US cities.
If Swift was to come to Vancouver BC Place is the only logical venue choice and would be booked by now (which means if she is coming someone is walking around Vancouver with a very big secret).
Swiftie super fans online believe that she is performing in the U.K. and Australia based on arena bookings and if we look at the BC Place calendar there are a few gaps in October where Swift could easily fit in a show or two. Some fans think she's more likely to visit in mid to late 2024 and BC Place has yet to reveal next year's calendar of events.
ts1989fanatic:
I could live with October or even 2024 so long as she’s here.
Why haven't the dates been announced yet?
ts1989fanatic:
That’s the billion $ question.
Many fans are begging to be put out of their misery: Is Taylor Swift coming to Canada or isn't she?
ts1989fanatic:
That’s the second billion $ question
International fans were promised an announcement in early 2023 (the initial dates were announced in November 2022) but the Ticketmaster disaster and subsequent hearing may have altered that plan and it's likely that the Taylor Nation team is strategizing how best to accommodate the demand.
ts1989fanatic:
Well how about @taylorswift or @taylornation put us out of our collective misery.

Adding to the fuckery of the Teeth of Good presale mayhem this morning, I have questions for their US booking agents. These venues are all over the place in terms of size. I've been to a ton of shows and consequently looked at a ton of tour dates and eventually you come to recognize venue names outside your own city, and can guess where a band is playing in each city based on where they're playing in yours. But Teeth of God is??? Unhinged???
Like yeah the vast majority of dates are theatres with capacities of about 3,000-5,000 people, some as low as 2,500 or as high as 6,800 and that's probably based on market and just what kind of venues actually exist in each city, so it tracks.
But then there's Tampa, Colorado, Pittsburgh and Montreal/Laval, where they're playing arenas/amphitheatres. The smallest of those four is Red Rocks with a capacity of 9,500. Peterson Events CEnter in Pittsburgh seats over 12,000 people. They end the tour in Canada playing a HOCKEY ARENA in Laval, QC (where the PWHL team plays) and then go to Toronto and play a theatre that seats 2,700. Hello???
#sleep token#don't get me wrong i am SO HAPPY i get to see them at Massey#and not either Coca Cola Coliseum or my beloathed Scotiabank Arena#but there are a trillion other venues in toronto they could play#that would not have made tickets so stressful toget#ALTHOUGH Massey doesn't sell on ticketmaster and that made my life easier#anyway City & Colour are headlining Place Bell and like...#As A Canadian (tm) that's a huge deal#City & Colour would probs play SBA lol#(actually i think he did do Massey last year so this might be moot but)#(idk this is weird)
