#fanon doesnt have to follow canon logic. but that just makes it REALLY bad when it's blatantly canonized with no regard for consistency#which is why i think TSATS feels so much like a 2015 fanfic. cause it's just blatantly all 2015 fanon that isnt congruent with canon at all#anyways sorry for the tag rant thank you for coming to my tedtalk

Welcome To My Blog…

As the title of my blog states, I am a fangirl of misunderstood characters and villains. The majority of my posts will be about said characters and villains. The characters you can expect me to post the most about are Zach Varmitech (Wild Kratts), The Grinch (2018 animated version), Arthur Fleck (Joker 2019), Merrill Hess (Signs movie), Angel Dust (Hazbin Hotel), and Loki (MCU).

I’m interested in quite a few fandoms, but what you will see most frequently on this blog, as mentioned above, will usually be Wild Kratts. I also dabble in The Dark Knight Trilogy, Batman, Split 2017/Glass, Gotham, Sofia the First, Disney, and Marvel (MCU).

My content is generally geared toward an older audience, so please keep this in mind while viewing my posts. I strive to label everything that might be triggering or offensive to younger, or any viewers, appropriately. The posts will have TWs in the tags and/or be labeled with the Mature Community Label.

I have been experiencing several incredibly painful eye conditions for nearly two years that have severely limited my vision. I had two eye surgeries in 2023 to alleviate the worst of these conditions. Things have calmed down with my eyes, but I still have to take things easy in the vision department!

I have experienced several losses in my life over the past few years: two uncles, my maternal grandparents, two of my cats, a coworker and friend, and my daughter. These losses are taking a toll on me, and I am still grieving the losses.

I am also experiencing other forms of depression and anxiety in my life concerning my physical health and mental health due to my past relationship, current relationship pursuits, and now my job.

So, if you send me asks, DM me, or try to interact with me and do not get a response or get a slow response, all of this is likely why 😔. I’m not ignoring you! I’m just going through a lot!

Will Solace head canon time, because I don’t know if I’ll ever write the fic I want to and I basically have his whole origin story in my head:

cw: mental illness (depression, anxiety, ptsd, etc); substance abuse, rehab, underage use, rehab, and similar tags; self harm mentions

He came to camp when he was really young, like Annabeth level young (well... maybe a little older, but like 9 or so)

Even though Annabeth was only a little older than him she showed him around because she remembered being that young and everyone thought she would be the most helpful in that regard

The Hermes, Apollo, and Dionysus Cabins all used to be really close and they would bounce the young unclaimed campers between themselves to give one another breaks

Everyone had bets on Will being an Apollo kid, or at least being under the sphere of Apollo’s influences (ie. Hygeia or Asclepius, etc)

He was eventually claimed during a capture the flag game when a trap set by the Hermes cabin went wrong; he had only been at camp about a year, and he fashioned a tourniquet out of random stuff he had and reset the bone... Will didn’t see his claiming because he passed out from exhaustion

Michael and Lee were both cabin counselors of Apollo, since the Apollo cabin has two counselors usually, one to run the infirmary and the other to run the cabin and care for the people inside. (Their older siblings who usually did it had just left for college so it was their first year running things)

Michael and Lee worked like a well oiled machine together (Lee in charge of the infirmary, and Michael in charge of the cabin) and shared the same friend group

Lee and Will had a more casual relationship because they kind of just “got” one another, while Michael and Will were more competitive/in each other’s faces because “opposites attract” and such

Will was only at camp like two years before Lee ran out of things to teach him at the infirmary, so Will became Chiron’s personal pupil and learned the ways of medicine directly from him

Will meets Nico when he’s 10-11 during TTC when in the infirmary or something... They don’t interact very much, because Will is busy and he also doesn’t like the way Nico makes him feel... Will is like 13 or so before he realizes that the *feeling* was a crush and that he was just nervous around Nico

Around this point Will started hanging around with Lee and Michael’s friend group as well; Charles, Silena, Clarisse, and more characters which either died/left and weren’t well known by Percy since he was often gone

There was about 15 or so of them in the friend group and they were wild cards for the most part, they didn’t really abide to camp rules super closely but they weren’t ridiculous. They spent lots of time outside after curfew and sometimes went swimming or just sad in the middle of the woods and talked for hours. 

Will was about 12 or 13 when Lee died in BoTL

He actually has a decent amount of interaction with Nico following the battle since they prep the dead together... The task had fallen to the Apollo cabin in absence of any Hades campers since it could technically be listed under medical and patient care and required similar skills.. 

They work together nicely and Will realizes he’s go a “crush” on Nico and this queues the whole “Will pinned hopelessly on Nico for years fanon trope”

His friend group fractured a little bit, so Will stepped up and “took” Lee’s place in the friend group in some ways... He wasn’t a replacement he just became the “glue” of the huge friend group

They lost some people either in battle or just over different interests so there was about 8 of them around this point

At this time Will also stepped up to take the infirmary, but Michael became the official head of the Apollo cabin

Their friend group didn’t really break up too much but a few people died, they didn’t really talk much about it except once or twice

Eventually someone got ahold of some alcohol as a “one time thing” and basically said “Let’s live a little, who knows how long we’ve got let’s have a little fun” or something similar

And that’s what they did, they only drank sometimes and occasionally partook in drugs but it was very much like “college students who happen to be 12-16″ type of use, just childish experimentation

They’d leave camp sometimes for a few hours at night, and they’d go to the stores and just wander about having fun, and they’d go eat at like Waffle House at midnight, and they just lived it up because they all thought they might die anyhow so why not

This went on and off again for about a year or so, and they all became like super close friends and got along really well and were a very tight knit group as a result of their trauma and general life situation

When the Battle of Manhattan happens it’s basically just Will and Clarisse left, the other few people who survived just kind of ditched the hangouts or went home to their families

Nico and Will interact again and grow closer, Nico helps him prep bodies after the battle again and Nico would probably consider himself Will’s close acquaintance at this point and would be willing to likely ask for favors if ever needed... Will on the other hand is hopelessly in love

Clarisse and Will became really close, and she kind of adopted him as like her younger brother figure and he also adopted her as his like older sister... Think something similar to Nico and Reyna’s relationship after BoO

Anyhow, since it’s just the two of them after one last final big hurrah following the Battle of Manhattan they all part ways and the drinking and drug use stops (although Clarisse still stays a social drinker who occasionally partakes in weed) 

Will however who is 14-15 (dates are a little funky here depending on his birthday) doesn’t really know how to quit, he’s lost both his brothers in about a year, and he’s now in charge of the infirmary and his cabin, and he’s seen so much blood and gore and on top of that his cabin is empty and he’s pretty much constantly alone and he doesn’t like that either

He definitely grew up with some undiagnosed Anxiety (GAD) and that’s not really anyone’s fault Will just didn’t know his feeling weren’t normal (”Mr.Well-Everyone-is-Nervous-Sometimes”) 

It’s after the BoTL that Atypical Depression kicks in but Will tries to ignore it and not worry and thinks he’s still just working through grief or something, and he doesn’t want to be a bother or something similar

After Battle of Manhattan though is when the C-PTSD kicks in noticeably (although he likely had it since BoTL because that’s when the derealization kicked in, but Will is the type of person to be in the middle of a panic attack and be like “I’m fine”)

Due to the derealization and depression combo Will picks up self harm habits which are less than ideal

Originally he starts taking ibuprofen from the infirmary because he has pretty consistent head and stomach aches (anxiety~) and he has a weird knee pain that keeps happening and he can’t really ignore it anymore (it’s due to an injury from fighting)

Pretty quickly though the ibuprofen doesn’t work, and he ups himself to compound painkillers, and eventually to opioids and benzodiazepines

Since he’s mostly alone and doesn’t have anyone in his cabin with him, nobody really knows... He still does good work in the infirmary and doesn’t mess up, so nobody knows anything is wrong

His relationship with Chiron begins to fall apart around this point, Will is angry because he doesn’t feel Chiron does enough to try and help because there’s no good way to get therapy at camp, and Chiron doesn’t go to plead with the gods ever about what’s happening at camp and how young the kids are and how many have died

Around this point Chiron releases him from his private lessons because he has taught Will all he knows, and he doesn’t try to teach him more because of how Will nags him to do more/talk to the gods

Because of this Chiron takes to avoiding Will as well as possible

Clarisse doesn’t really notice anything is up and she applauds Will for ditching alcohol and what she assume he’s waiting until he’s older after the events and she’s “proud” of him in a way

Will takes to avoiding the hell out of Mr.D because Will knows he’ll know about what Will is up to

(Quickly I’d like to tell Rick’s timelines to fuck off, because The Lost Hero happening 2 weeks after The Last Olympian... No, just no... Let’s say it’s a few months because there’s multiple canonical plot and timeline errors that can be corrected that way)

He ends up leaving camp quite a bit at night, and he tells Chiron to watch the infirmary during the nights occasionally by saying he hadn’t been sleeping well and he just needed him to look after it for a night since he didn’t have any help... He doesn’t do it too often to be suspicious but just enough

He ends up going out drinking and doing street drugs and stuff and gets involved with all kinds of different people and just generally has a lot of fun (so long as he doesn’t get sober or stop to think about why he’s behaving this way)

He gets involved with a whole bunch of younger teenagers all involved in this sort of thing and they have lots of fun together and they all become like “drug friends” or something and they figure out how to pass as adults and get in nightclubs and whatever

Will is like 5″11 or so at this point  so nobody even really questions his age too much but he has a fake ID just in case

He gets his tattoo at some point around here to pay honor to Lee and Michael... Michael had this weird abstract looking tattoo on his arm and Lee always used to recite “The Sun Came” By Etheridge Knight and Emily Bronte’s “August 1837″

He combines the two things together in a way, so that the sun is for Lee but it has an abstract sort of look to it for Michael 

He doesn’t really remember getting it but he doesn’t regret it at all and he does remember spending time to design it

He’s thinking about getting a sleeve (either a half or a full sleeve) on that arm when older but he has to think of more ideas still (he’s like 14-15)

He doesn’t ever get caught, shockingly, although Clarisse does find out that he’s picked up drinking again but Will’s just happy she doesn’t find out about the drugs because she wouldn’t have let him get away with that and would have turned him in.. He would have done the same to her though so he doesn’t hold it against her

The tattoo is something he tried hard to hide in the beginning because he doesn’t want anyone to know he’s going out of camp sometimes at night 

Will ends up going home for some time (Chiron monitors the infirmary while he’s away, maybe a few months) because he’s the only Apollo camper now and that’s hard on him, and he hasn’t been home in years so he thinks it will be nice

It becomes pretty quickly evident to his mom (who cancelled the last few shows on her tour to be home with him) that something is up but she can’t quite figure out what exactly is wrong (Will’s good at masking) 

Eventually during the middle of his time home with her she starts to catch on and she thinks it’s just some depression or lethargy... Will never really told her about what happened at camp because he didn’t want her to worry

(How do you write a letter to your mother “hey I love you, I might die today and I just wanted you to know I cared about you, hopefully the world doesn’t descend into chaos and we all do a good job.. oh btw a whole bunch of my siblings have died and I hope I’m not next!”)

Naomi tries to get him in with a therapist but Will puts up a fight “I’m fine mom, I’m just a little jet lagged and cranky it’s not a big deal” and she relents but tries to get him into some program in New York for when he goes back

At some point shortly after either a) his mom finds his drugs or b) he runs out and starts having troubles because he was hooked.. Either way Naomi finds out and he goes to rehab for some time

It was kind of hard for Naomi to find a good one so she put him in a “normal” rehab for a little while since she can’t just google “rehab and therapy for demigods” or something she has to do a little digging, although eventually she turns up a program run by an older Dionysus kid and gets Will involved in that

That’s how he gets his diagnosis, and eventually they put him on anti-depressants and anxiety medication to see if that’s helpful

The C-PTSD diagnosis is the hardest thing for his mom to handle but she stays strong for him so he doesn’t understand how much it hurt 

The hardest part of her was not just the fact that she hadn’t known and that he’d hidden it but just that she hadn’t known anything about the wars and her child could have died and she wouldn’t have known

The few months between being at home and at rehab don’t fix him by any means, but they definitely make everything a lot better and alleviate a lot of his hurt

There’s some back and forth between him and his mom over whether or not he should be allowed to go back to camp, Will eventually wins and does go back

He’s back all of three or four days before Austin and Kayla show up, Kayla is from like the northwestern area of Ontario, Canada (sorry, not Canadian... I only know anything about Toronto and Windsor) 

Austin’s from either Grand Rapids area (there’s a big lake there, Austin Lake... heh, also Austin on the beach as a kid 10/10 head canon, but also like middle class life with like sandwiches on the beach) or the Detroit area (there’s a huge black musical community and lots of black history and culture in the area and he does play a saxophone so maybe he had like a cool mentor or something he really looked up to and his mom moved him there for a music school or something.. Idk there’s a good story there)

(Irrelevant but I have two very different opposing ideas for Austin’s background it just depends on whether or not I think he had a hard childhood and I can’t decide if his mom went crazy because of Apollo or if she did okay... so idk, still thinking there... but this is about Will rn so I’ll come back to this all later)

They show up together and live in the Hermes cabin together and they get along super well (they bonded on their way to camp) and they’re just good friends, so they’re happy when they’re claimed together and are now siblings

Anyhow, it’s a weird experience for Will because he went from an empty lonely cabin with all his dead siblings, to self-healing in a rehab program, to suddenly having a very loud cabin again and he’s not entirely sure how to deal with it in the beginning so he spends time sleeping in the infirmary because it’s hard on him to see them so happy in beds that used to be someone else’s but those other siblings are dead..

Shortly after their claimed is when Percy goes missing and he lends Annabeth the chariot

Cue the events he’s present in for The Lost Hero

Some point during the 7′s quest he has a short relapse and instead of avoiding Mr. D this time he actually seeks him out

This is where Mr. D starts to like him and uses his actual name (he does it for the girls and gays and thats it! ... jk jk, he does it when he can tell someone needs it or they’re like a really good kid)

anyhow he gives Will some good advice

Shortly thereafter Will starts caring for Mellie while pregnant, and manages to bond with Austin over the experience (Austin will take over the infirmary when Will leaves camp, and Kayla will take the cabin) 

Will ends up bonding with Kayla a little later on over having a famous parent and horror films

Will and Mr.D hang out some more, Will picks up some new lessons from Chiron and starts spending lots of time in the big house again

He starts trying to make new friends at camp beyond Clarisse, because he’s always been nice to everyone but he’s not friends with people just because he’s friendly

Enter Lou Ellen and Cecil, they come in after a magic accident and while Will is fixing up Cecil they’re all joking around and start becoming friends

Lou Ellen and Cecil are always getting into trouble and it reminds Will of the earlier days at camp and sneaking out into the woods with his friends and getting into mischief in a good way and he likes it a lot

They’re aware of the battle approaching but it’s not something anyone at camp spends a lot of time thinking about 

So Will spends time bonding with his new siblings and getting to know Lou Ellen and Cecil and building a more even and steady relationship with Clarisse 

Eventually Mellie has her baby and the events of BoO happen

Then the infirmary thing which I put in more detail here (it’s actually about Nico’s relationship to sleep but I go into my thoughts of 3 days in the infirmary a little bit there too)

After Nico’s infirmary stay when they start hanging out more openly and being friendly they’re in this weird like “we’re super good friends because we’ve prepped bodies together for a hundred or more hours but we’re also flirting but neither of us realize the other one is flirting too”

Anyhow they get together because Will has a short period of relapse for like a day or two and he ends up coming out to Nico and telling him how he feels one day when he’s high as a fucking kite and Nico knows something’s up but he thinks Will is drunk maybe

So Nico invites him in to stay the night because he doesn’t want Will to pass out in the grass or something, anyhow Will sleeps for a bit and he wakes up more or less sober and freaks out about whatever happened because he doesn’t really have a good memory but he thinks he knows

but he’s also freaked out because he literally just got high as shit and then went to find Nico which he thinks is embarrassing especially because he lectured Nico about taking care of himself

Anyhow they have a heart to heart on the floor of the Hades Cabin bathroom and they end up getting together that night after staying up really late and just talking about their trauma and stuff

and it’s a big moment for both of them because neither of them have ever really talked about their feelings before or had anyone listen to them so it’s this whole like unboxing moment for both of them and that’s how they end up together

Sometime during them dancing around one another is when communication via iris message and such officially stopped working and so they have a lot of time to get to know each other

Since neither of them are leaving or really have tons of other people to talk to

Nico befriends Kayla and Austin quickly, him and Kayla have a very casual relationship and something about it makes Will’s heart hurt (in a bittersweet way) because some of the things Kayla says or her behaviors remind him of Michael and something about Nico brings that side of her personality out more

And the same for Austin except with Lee, Nico brings out that side of him more although Will had actually noticed the similarities of Lee and Austin before Nico befriended him and made it more obvious somehow

Will realizes he’s in love with Nico super fast but he holds back from saying anything because he doesn’t want to scare him off

Nico has an errand to run for Hades and asks Will if he wants to come, nobody knows they’re dating yet because Nico wasn’t quite ready to say anything at that point and so they’re allowed to go

They’re not even gone a full day, just like 18 hours or something (Yes they had a dinner date before returning, what about it?) and that’s when they come back to find campers missing

At some point shortly after that but only a month or so before Apollo shows up they decide to be more open about their relationship... Everyone thinks they got together when doing the little side quest though and Nico and Will don’t bother to correct them because they found out there was a betting pool on them and they think it serves the losers right

(Cecil or Lou Ellen won and Will doesn’t care so much because they’re his friends.. Someone had to wear a catmaid outfit because they bet on Nico being straight and got  negative points somehow and had to do a truth or dare sort of thing)

Anyhow all of that leads to the kicking off the events of ToA

Once their role in The Hidden Oracle is complete and Kayla and Austin are returned safely Solangelo gets more time to bond and grow their relationship

Nico is comfortable using the word boyfriend some days, but he’s still very uncomfortable with PDA or doing “coupley things” like trading hoodies and stuff so they’re still going kind of slow and Will’s fine with that

From the end of BoO to the start of ToA Nico had gotten better about taking care of himself and he gets better at it again following The Hidden Oracle

Something about being extra careful and trying hard is contagious when it comes to mental health so Will buys a new wardrobe for the first time in years, and Nico is convinced to go shopping with him and buy new clothes too

Nico starts to settle into himself and this marks the start of him being the “camp’s pretty boy” (which is not my idea but the wonderful idea of @heyimboredtalktome who applied words to the concept and elaborated on thoughts I couldn’t communicate <3) and although Will has always been “girl next door pretty” that’s somehow elevated because he’s happier around Nico 

and then everyone gets to see them again in Tower of Nero as well and we all know how that goes

And it causes both of them to relapse a little bit following the event because it digs up old memories and puts salt in old wounds (especially for Nico), but they work through it together

and from there they kind of just start “growing into one another” like most couples that get together young do

And they’re trying to figure out the whole Bob in Tartarus situation to help Nico out and they’re thriving

And there’s still bad days and hard days they get through them alright, and they have someone to hold their hand through the pain which makes it more bearable

And when Naomi meets Nico for the first time she absolutely falls in love with him immediately and doesn’t even give him the shovel talk because her and Will have been writing letters regularly and also because she can just see how much good he does for Will and how much they care for each other and he loves her son no matter his struggles

And at some point a few years down the road when they’re a bit older Will weans himself off his anti-depressants and his anxiety meds for the most part (he has some “emergency pills” he can take if necessary but he’s doing better and he kind of wanted to see how he did without the drugs just because he worried himself into thinking about his addiction problems and didn’t want to be on the meds anymore)

He did eventually go back on the anxiety medication though because that was a little too strong for him to handle without a little help but he’s okay with it

And yeah

You might be thinking, “jesus this is so much writing why didn’t you just write the fic” well, because I don’t want to do a full chapter fic and that’s what I would have to do to detail all of my thoughts on Will in full

Anyhow if you made it through thank you for reading I know it’s a lot and I did think about breaking it in 2 sets but that didn’t make as much sense to me~
