182 Days of TPN - Day 171
Chapter 171: "Defeat"
All these women filling up the many halls of headquarters and not one manages to capture Peter. I find that kinda ridiculous that he's able to run so far without being stopped by someone grabbing him or take a shot at him, like c'mon ladies, y'all have guns, use 'em to shoot at his leg or something at least!
Tumblr media
Whatever, the dude can run around like a coward all he wants because a villain more worthy of our time has taken the stage. Don't get me wrong, I was so beyond anxious to see him actually still alive and for him to grace us with his terrifying presence here of all places, but despite all the fear, I was lowkey excited because of how great of a character Leuvis is.
Tumblr media
And Palvus. I missed his many amusing expressions and gestures too.
Tumblr media
Pfft, I love that even he's surprised to be alive after Yuugo's final bullet to the face. And the flashback panel showing how his body was nowhere to be found moments before GP blew up was so obvious and yet I still remained completely blindsided when this psycho was revealed to be alive the first time all those years ago. (the duality of this guy is incredible, to feel so scared of him yet amused by the cute way he pinches Palvus' cheeks.)
Tumblr media
The way he has no respect for those new demons who took over is almost as hilarious as Palvus imitating his wicked grin.
Tumblr media
That's certainly a memorable way to greet your family after so many years.
Tumblr media
He chugs the cursed blood so aggressively while the crowd is sent into a total panic. Sonju & Mujika were just about to be executed for having said blood, so perhaps they all believed Leuvis was sentencing himself to the same fate, but he assures them that there's nothing evil about the blood, just that the lie surrounding it was the only cruel thing about it.
Tumblr media
I never imagined that Leuvis would return and I definitely didn't think he would actually spread the truth like this by ratting out the malicious ways the old queen and nobles kept control over everyone.
Tumblr media
Leuvis has such a great heel-face turn. Yeah Sonju thinks of how his brother always sorta held some distaste towards the farm system and the promise, but just comparing the Leuvis that Emma fought at GP against the Leuvis we see openly supporting justice now really is quite a shock. So much so that even Leuvis himself acknowledges the stark contrast.
Tumblr media
Kinda love that Leuvis is pretty much stepping up only because he doesn't wanna live in a world run by Peter. And honestly, who would want to take orders from that boy? Just imagine if he tried giving Leuvis a command. Peter would be dead in seconds. But yup, almost positive I said this years ago, but I still believe this whole redemption arc of Leuvis' is partly due to the influence Emma (& the whole battle at GP) had on him.
Tumblr media
I would've never predicted Leuvis would help Sonju & Mujika out like this but I'm thankful he did. Totally unexpected of the psycho villain I came to love and appreciate, but welcomed all the same. Safely secures a spot as my second favorite villain (only because the lady in first can never be moved. i wont allow it).
Tumblr media
Oh, that last panel caused me to worry so much the first time. And the whole scene of Emma holding Peter at gunpoint really sent me into that mindset that someone might come along and kill him. Sigh. Silly me, thinking that one of the kids (and/or Isabella) would actually shoot this man.. wishful thinking.
Tumblr media
Favorite panel/moment:
There's many of Leuvis that I enjoyed but already included, so I'll put this one here. This dude speaks so proper and royal. I love it. (also, the pets for Palvus.)

TPN 171 Review
Hello everyone, I’m back after slacking off for a week. This is another 2 part review, for 172, click here.
Tumblr media
Before mentioning any highlights of the chapter, I want to quickly point how sassy this demon was while on the phone with Peter, that was quite comical.
Tumblr media
And now we see Leuvis back out of the blue, fully recovered since the last time we saw him in Goldy Pond. The main reason why I didn’t review this last week was because I had to reread it since it has been so long. He is looking as terrifying as ever and there’s no way of telling what he’s thinking behind that mask.
Tumblr media
Leuvis then slashes Sonju and I was also very shocked like Musica. But it was just to let Leuvis tell the truth about the cursed blood to all the citizens.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like Sonju, I don’t believe for a second that Leuvis is trying to do something good for the demon world, he must have some kind of plan behind this. He’s probably going to use to chaos to take his place as ruler but I don’t get why he would do that. This all seems very suspicious, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
Tumblr media
He then orders the execution be cancelled and it will be the leaders of the current government who will be arrested instead. This all seems good on the surface but knowing Leuvis’ nature, he 1000% has an ulterior motive.
Tumblr media
We’re back at Grace Field now where Emma holds Peter at gunpoint. Peter finally admits defeat but comes up with another plan (that is not very well thought-out) - to kill Emma. Of course we know she’s not gonna die, but the panel of Emma’s body in bits and pieces is quite scary.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This was a pretty short review that was also long overdue, but next chapter is going to be much much better, so you can head over there right now.

Sonju and Leuvis's Relationship + The Future [SPOILERS!]
Since Chapter 171 came out I've been mulling over what we're shown about Sonju and Leuvis's relationship, and how that will effect the course of events going forward.
[Long post under cut - and SPOILERS!]
To summarise, they were close - at least prior to Sonju's exile.
Sonju is the youngest sibling, as he refers to Leuvis as 'brother' (ani-ue). Leuvis is the middle child, despite looking a billion years older than Legravalima, whom he refers to as 'sister' (ane). It's difficult to say just how much younger Sonju is compared to Leuvis, but whatever the case, they had a far better mutual understanding of one another than they had to their elder sister.
Sonju reveals that Leuvis personally expressed his disgust toward the farms and even the Promise itself. This is serious dissent. Considering what happened to Geelan, Leuvis - the Queen's brother - denouncing the very existence of the things that keep the status quo is high treason. Legravalima, the woman who killed her own father, would think nothing of killing her own brother. The powerful court members around her would also, definitely, take action against him.
The fact that Leuvis shared this with Sonju suggests that the brothers had found common ground and trusted one another to keep their mutual views to themselves. Leuvis would have known about Sonju's feelings too, in this case, and could have ratted him out to Legravalima at any point, but did not.
Chapter 171 shows us a small flashback (clearer in the Japanese raw scan), where Sonju reveals that his elder brother had never had any interest in politics or justice for the people, and that he was happy to keep the status quo as long as he could continue his hunting.
A younger Sonju appears to be arguing with a younger Leuvis, most likely (considering the corresponding text) trying to incite Leuvis to action, or angry that Leuvis refuses to assist him in his desire to fix things. This most definitely caused a rift, and the brothers went their separate ways. They may have agreed on taboo things, but only one of them was willing to act.
Tumblr media
Leuvis even confirms that he is acting unlike the person Sonju grew up with, saying "I'm sure this isn't like me". He's changed. Sonju asks for an explanation - it's such a drastic turn for a man who knowingly allowed so much suffering to go on while he chased his passion.
Still, it appears that Sonju respects Leuvis, referring to him, as mentioned before, with a term that suggests formality and respect.
Tumblr media
You could say that Sonju is merely using the term he grew up using toward his elder siblings, so this was an automatic response. This could be correct, but then compare it to how he called Legravalima a monster both to her face and in monologue (multiple times) when they reunited. He states that he never even wanted to go near his sister (ch. 157, pg. 9) even in the past. There was nothing but mutual contempt and hatred expressed between them.
Sonju clearly didn't think that way about Leuvis, whom he continues to refer to as 'brother' and with whom he willingly interacted in the past and shared common ground.
On Leuvis's side, while he may not have shared Sonju's religious/spiritual views regarding the hunting and killing of 'natural-born'/'wild' humans, and may have disagreed with Sonju's desire to join the evil-blooded, he appears to still have regard for his younger brother.
The fact that he drinks Sonju's blood in front of the crowd to prove his and Mujika's innocence, the blood of a man he calls a hero a few breaths later, speaks to me at least of respect. He could have slashed Mujika, to mess with Sonju and achieve the same result, but he chose his blood sibling. Legravalima would have sooner gouged both her cores out.
Leuvis might have chosen to follow his own path, ignoring the injustice, but still respected Sonju for having the courage of his conviction to stick by his principles. He may genuinely feel that Sonju is a heroic individual.
This bit is just my speculation, but considering Sonju's desire to hunt 'wild' humans again, having hunted in the past (we saw his first hunt in a flashback), and Leuvis's very much established passion for hunting humans, and having had common dissenting feelings, it's probably fair to say the brothers hunted together at some point.
The question is, what now? Will Leuvis continue to assist Sonju and Mujika? Just because he stopped his little brother from getting his head lopped off doesn't mean he's willing to become king (as is his right, being first in line to the throne now). Note that he ordered the execution cancelled as 'Grand Duke' Leuvis, rather than 'prince' or even 'king'.
There's still a lot Leuvis has to answer for, and I highly doubt Sonju would just let him sweep all the years he spent not giving a frick about the citizens and poaching while they starved and died for years.
I also doubt Sonju is going to so readily accept Leuvis, even if he did save his and Mujika's lives - he was not exactly pleased to see him, and in Leuvis's 'dying' flashback we see Sonju protecting Mujika, so it's possible he encountered and threatened them somehow. Or Sonju was just being generally protective because he's not to know Leuvis wouldn't consider he and Mujika free game.
Sonju has neither the inclination or the know-how to take the throne, and Leuvis likewise. Will Sonju once again trust Leuvis with critical information regarding the revived High Priest and his idea to make him king in both their steads?
Thoughts?

Hey can you help me with someone? The discussion between Isabella and Peter in the last arc takes place the 12 or the 13 november 2047? I searched a timeline of the events but i didn't found it. Or it happens the 13 at early morning?
Their conversation in the cell takes place on January 17, 2046.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The other conversations we see them have are sometime before the evening of November 13, 2047, since it's still light out when the older kids reunite with Phil and Sherry and before Isabella dies.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"[Emma's group] will arrive probably by [the night of November 13th or 14th]."
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
They're in Grace Field headquarters by the time day breaks (chapter 166), and shortly before that, Isabella's speaking with the sisters about rebelling (chapter 170).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's hard to be completely sure with the lighting when the Grace Field farm boss shows up in chapter 176 since it could just be for the dramatic flair, but it looks like it's around sunset, and the chapter 177 bonus page and beginning of chapter 178 show it's nighttime when Mujika and Sonju arrive at Grace Field by bus.

It’s my boy! The absolute lad! He’s an asshole, but man was he an amazing villain. I’ll be curious to hear how he actually managed to survive considering they said he didn’t have a second core. Palvus looks smug as shit in that last panel, lmao.
Tumblr media
Unintentionally, eh? So, was it just a lucky miss of his core? Or something else. Also, just remembered that he’s also a prince so he has a right to the throne. This should prove to be interesting. Also, brothers with Sonju, so that should be an interesting conversation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He’s only been back less than two minutes and he’s already being amazing. Also, damn, that’s the real smug Palvus.
