I feel there's something to be said about how Nico's platonic love is coalesced into his PoVs so beautifully: worrying about the seven after his talk with Hades at the chapel of bones, his bonding and relationship with Reyna, that bit towards the end of BoO where he has a moment with Hazel (Frank too), and Jason the next morning...It was all so sweet and wholesome.

On the other hand, I feel that romantic love didn't really cut it in Nico's case. That "I love Percy" text wall in his PoV felt very...off to me.

And don't even ask me about that messy gag with will solace in late BoO; that was OoC as heck. ToA was just as bad, and when there was a chance to cover up for it through tSatS, the ball was dropped. It seems writing Nico with romantic feelings just doesn't really work.

It's almost as if platonic love is the heart and soul of Nico's character, but his inclination towards romantic/physical feelings and relationships is born out of allonormativity more than anything.

I'd actually love to see an AU where he's an oriented aroace.

That being said, this is just a personal opinion, and sorry if it seemed offensive.
