Not to get analytical on a silly post but I was actually talking w one of my friends about Joshua Gillespie the other day, specifically because of how he dealt with the whole situation. Weird coffin gets delivered to the flat? Use it as a coffee table. It makes noises when it rains? Buy better speakers and headphones. Find yourself trying to use the key to open it while you're asleep? Freeze the key in ice.

It's such a mundane solution to such a supernatural problem but it works. This logic is applied later on in the show in situations such as "Blow up the Unknowing" or "Dump concrete on it, that'll work" and it is absolutely fascinating to me that all the set-up necessary for those events was done in the second episode. Not only is Joshua Gillespie a hilarious icon and a bad bitch, he's also a plot device used introduce very important concepts in the show as early on as possible. 10/10 character tbh

‘Do Not Open’ is still one of my favorite episodes because of this absolute legend. He’s at the top of my list of badass people who survived encounters because they just ain’t with that shit.

I’ve recently become very obsessed with Albrecht Von Closen somehow (despite him being in exactly 2 statements (technically 4 if you count the name drops in 111 and 118)). And by obsessed, I mean that he’s legitimately among my favourite characters in the series now (along with Martin, my absolute favourite, and Mike, Michael, and Peter). Just last night I sent a very long paragraph into my partner’s TMA TTRPG server detailing recency era based theories as well as little details related to it (such as Elias audibly reacting when Martin mentions burning Albrecht’s statement, the theory that Gerry’s cancer was actually eye tumours, and that apparently Albrecht was one of the first Archivists).

Anyway, all that said, is it fair to headcanon Albrecht as having ADHD? I’m not sure if it’s the fanon stuff I’ve seen or just his natural draw to the eye in canon, but he really gives ADHD vibes (possibly inattentive type, but with the hyperactive trait of being overly talkative like I am?). Also, the description of how he was telling stories to Jonathan in 127? I mean, rambling in an almost manic way about something that is interesting to you? What a mood. (and yes, I know that was eye shenanigans, but anyone who knows me irl has more than likely witnessed me do a very similar thing with my hyperfixations.)

(Sidenote: I know I’ve said in previous posts that I would be a lonely or vast avatar, but I have recently begun to wonder if perhaps I may be more suited to the eye. I may detail this in a future post)

here is my take on assigning isat characters(people from the forgotten island) tma entities with far too much explanation because I don't want to do homework

Everyone from the forgotten country has been touched by the lonely. Forgetting yourself and everyone you love is something that happens in one of the lonely domains, and in isat a whole world(or maybe just nearby countries, but still) was affected. That whole thing might as well be an effect of a half successful ritual

Siffrin is taken by the end(i lied, actually the lonely and a bit of the web)

Time loop when you die might seem like something Terminus would do, but Siffrin doesn't loop when he dies. They loop when they can't continue being with the family, which is pretty lonely coded(except if it was TMA, the loops would have ended after Loop hang out or act 3 ending, whichever is more traumatizing). As for the spider part, that comes in later acts when Sif starts referring to the whole thing as a play and everyone as actors. The spider doesn't care how you do it, as long as you get others to do what you want , you have the potential to become an avatar (as per Annabelle's words during the eye-pocalyps)

Loop is an avatar of the stranger

They were taken by the lonely and brought back as an avatar by the stranger. A copy of yourself that wants to kill you and take your place is literally a tma character. +the whole cheerful act , great for stranger vibes

The king is connected to the end + the lonely + the flesh

He is afraid that the country that he loves so much will be forgotten(lonely), and so he freezes everyone in time, keeping them from dissappearing . Which... um... is the complete opposite of what the end does , but , but , there are artefacts that can cancel out the effects of entities, even post change , so maybe he read a lightner that let's him do that or something. Also, he is a giant, and he changed his body to achieve that . Changing your flesh into an inhuman form is one of the main things viscera does (oh, I guess Big Sif is also flesh then , huh)

And now, the croissant person

The croissant person is an avatar of the extinction, because all croissants are evil(tasty) and must be destroyed(eaten)
