Fan spaces, particularly if they also include a substantial shipping component, should remain fan spaces, without public interference of any kind. Shippers should not bring any of that directly to idols or their families, but just as importantly, idols should keep their distance as well. Of course, I don't think generalizations are much helpful and I'm aware that this dynamic is dependent on the type and scale of the fandom and the established parasocial relationship between idols and fans.

Nevertheless, for an idol who has time and time again proven that he easily moves within fandom spaces and has not attempted at keeping that information to himself, it is more than dissappointing to see once again how adulation through any means has more significance than being a half-decent person.

When your birthday can only be celebrated through your ship and your best achievement is your main ship name on ao3 charts, then I guess you work with what you have and you pander to those whose only interest in you is through shipping.

All idols are aware and have enough knowledge of shipping practices. It is part of kpop, as much as it is part of fandom spaces at large. I believe they can choose to stay away from those spaces, but it doesn't mean they are not aware of it, be it through local or international social media platforms. Your idols use twitter, IG and the like, just like everyone else. They can easily see what words are trending or what threats are being made or who makes petitions against so-called business gay. For their sanity, I hope they stay away from it. But that doesn't mean it should be acceptable for it to happen, let alone be encouraged or have their harmful messages be legitimized the moment an idol crosses that boundary and gives them the special attention they so desperately look for.

Idols and fans cannot be friends, but if you reread prev anon ask you would understand that it was not really the point. Idols do fanservice, most act like Jm. Others, like Tae, do not act like him. There’s that.

What did y'all expect honestly? Jungkook has shown too many times that he doesn't give a fuck about Jimin when Taehyung is around.

Did we watch the same episode? Jikook Introduction to New Army

Hello to whoever reads my post. Still new user to Tumblr and figuring things out. This turned out to be a longer post than I anticipated. 

I am new Army (late 2023) and still learning about BTS music and them. I joined Tumblr after watching AYS and wanted to join a community to learn more about Jikook. :) 

Just wanted to share my BTS and interconnected Jikook introduction to give an insight on how people are fed algorithms after being interested in BTS. My first BTS videos on my Instagram (which I joined to follow my son's sports teams!!) were of RM live where Jimin sweetly interrupts him, clips of Hobi's JITB party, Taekook dancing together, Jikook giggling away. I thought JK and Tae looked so cute dancing, Hobi and NJ looked so handsome, Yoongi was so pretty and Jin looked like a model. But once I saw Jimin in a BTS live performance (I think it was Idol), he was my favorite. His voice sounds like crystal bells to me: don't know how else to put it. And the more I found out about him: his dancing, his personality, his jokes, his silliness, his kindness, his attitude he was my bias. My favorite songs of his are Letter, Lie, and Serendipity.

I am older so I do view him more as a cute and super-talented marshmallow rather than an idol to look up to. :) I like all the BTS members and their music which surprised me since their solo work was so different. I enjoyed their albums and songs very much. My first song to binge listen to was "The Astronaut". Love Jin's voice. Everyone’s voice really, and Jimin’s feels ethereal. 

Anyways, my point is as soon as I saw a few clips of BTS clips on IG, I started getting tkk content. A deluge of it! No Jikook content mind you. I was a Taekook believer really (I didn’t know idol shipping was a thing) but with a strong Jimin bias. Ha! I saw the same few clips over and over in my feed. I was happy for Tae and JK and utterly believed the edited tkk clips because why would anyone lie about real people! :) I did eventually see early BTS content and my heart broke for Jimin seeing how much he liked JK and was rejected (or so I thought). He was so young, clumsy, loud, cute but above all earnest and sensitive. Oof, some of the clips are hard to watch. 

What I am trying to say is that somehow tkker reals target new BTS almost immediately, as soon as you show interest in the group. For someone who doesn’t delve any deeper, this becomes the reality and why not: V and JK are friends and interact plenty with each other! Cut and paste works wonders and not everyone will have the time and patience to watch original videos.

I was few months into the BTS fandom and then we had news of the youngest four’s enlistment, Jikook going as companions. That sparked my curiosity about Jikook and after reading some of the comments on some early BTS videos where people were mentioning RB and GCFTokyo, I watched some of original content (slowly). One comment from a tkk account said “The fact that Jimin and JK enlisted together proves that they are not together.” That was so ridiculous and made me do a double take. Because why would you say that? Why so defensive? Why are Jimin and JK going to the military together? Why isn’t JK doing a buddy program with his boyfriend Tae? Could it be that Jikook are closer than the tkk acknowledge?

Watching original content and some Jikook compilations, I was primarily ecstatic for Jimin. Jungkook, the young and shy boy appreciates and loves Jimin. I still have doubts about the true nature of their relationship, because we don’t know them personally. AYS, GCFT and GCFSaipan all seem to indicate something so strong that it's clear whatever the nature of their relationship, they love, value and trust each other the most out of all the members. Having Tae on AYS actually proved to me that there is nothing romantic between JK and him. Tae seems more attached to Jimin than JK. Anyways, these are just my opinions. Nothing more!

I have liked and loved reading all of the Jikook and BTS posts. Thank you! Hope the boys all come back safe and are welcomed back with love (esp. Yoongi) with a more mature fan base. Some of the toxicity in the fandom puts me off but I just don’t engage in those spaces. Kudos to the warriors who fight for decency and common sense!

Tbh I'm a jikooker, but I find it incredibly difficult to fit a healthy long-term relationship into the same timeline as all of jimin's solo work. It's not the pronouns or taking one lyric very literally, its the entire thing, plus comments from him and his producers. To me, you'd have to do some serious olympic level mental gymnastics to make that make sense. I don't doubt that jikook have a special bond, I've definitely seen things between them that definitely look like sexual attraction to me and things that surpass friendship boundaries, but I can't in good faith say that they're together in some official long-term way if I actually listen to jimin and his work.

I've seen some jikookers think they broke up for a while, but I have to question if those people have ever been through a breakup because the little bit of distance/separation/awkwardness we did see from them during chapter 2 is nothing compared to the type of tension that would be there if a relationship that intimate and intertwined had separated, especially considering the dark feelings jimin was feeling. He wouldn't have been cutely commenting on jungkook's lives and jungkook wouldn't have been asking to hang-out or getting excited to see jimin in his comments.

Idk, I'm sure someone could twist everything a certain way and only take certain things at face-value and then make everything else abstract, etc. to make the case that they are together, but I don't really see it. There are so many wrong things in our fandom. So many wrong things in this company. So much chaos and hate and fights, so many wasted opportunities. ARMY carrying members on their backs. But not all of them. The american dream being just that, a dream that more and more seems out of reach and illusory. International armys being transparent. Inner fights within the company. Oh but *money* remember?

The members trying their best to live their life in between the mayhem and making the best out of their situation. Trying their best to do their jobs, being artists.

*One in an ARMY* is long gone. Chapter 2 made sure to make the divide even wider.

It wasn't always like this. Not in the past.

But now I see ARMYs at the concerts who act like nothing happened and I can't help this bitter feeling in my mouth.

Because we might act like we are one and happy to support BTS but is ARMY truly lifting the members up? Truly lifting each other up? No. Everyone is out for themselves and take pleasure in petty fights, ruining the fandom experience for everyone.

Last night's vote was a perfect example.

Two most successful members ignored and even discouraged to vote for. ARMY didn't see this award worthy you see?

Why is it always jikook?

Oh, maybe because the fandom is filled with tkkers and solos and really, what's left after that?

What is ARMY anymore? But selfish children?

I naively thought we could be better than this. There was a time where being an ARMY meant something.

What saddens me the most is that whatever BTS preached and the message they tried to convey, that's not what people kept. That's not even what matters to them and they certainly weren't inspired by it.

People are motivated by selfishness and hatred and everything BTS are not.

And they are calling themselves fans? What about having some dignity? Do they deserve that title?

BTS taught people to be tolerant but this fandom is far from being tolerant. They collectively hate a pairing just because there's a slight chance they might be homosexual. Imagine that?

It's a fucking joke.

Yes, it's better to ignore all of it, and cater to your fandom experience, and try to have fun nonetheless. But when it's 80% of the fandom that is like this, isn't there something inherently wrong with everything?

When the bullying becomes so intense people refrain from speaking up. There used to be a time where people were afraid of ARMY because we were such a protective and powerful force. Now they are scared simply because people are toxic tyrants who don't care which people they hurt. They don't even care about the members.

You want to be part of this?

There was a time where I was. I felt part of this community because I believed in it.

But look what is has become? It's in ruins.

If I put my optimist hat on, I might say that the reunion will put people back together. That everything will go back to the way it was.

But unfortunately I think that's a sweet dream. Can we go back? I don't think so.

Honestly I don't even care what label I have anymore, or what hate I'm thrown at.

I will keep doing what feels right, and support however I can.

But I can't get behind this community's mentality anymore.

I'm really only posting this because I'm tired as fuck of people going just look at face off, alone, all his dark feelings, how could he be in a happy lovey dovey healthy long term relationship? Which I'm paraphrasing anon, I know, but this was the gist of your point in that section.

When I'm living breathing proof that it's possible.

Personal time: I have the best partner in the world. I love him with my whole being. I have been with him since I was a teenager. We have gone through all sorts of changes and self discovery together. I also STILL occasionally struggle with self harm and wanting to kill myself. In fact, the only reason I'm still alive and not actively TRYING to off myself is because I don't want to traumatize my children and husband. I have crippling depression. I related to some of those darker feelings from FACE immensely. So you are inadvertently invalidating my own relationship by saying this, which I do kinda take offense to. And anyone who struggles with their mental health, all their relationships too.

So that's all. I just really needed at least one person to realize what an unfair and unnuanced take that part is. Everything else, sure. Agree to disagree friend. I'm all for it. You think Jimin is single but still love Jikooks bond, that's literally all I care about and I can coexist with you happily in a Jikook/bts bubble. 💜

I guess this is the big public reveal of Taenni.

Make no mistake here.

This is not coincidental, they weren't caught by accident on camera by a paparazzi photographer who happened to be in the area.

This is planned and executed by them in correspondence and approval of their companies.

Tae and Jenni just strolling comfortably on the street holding hands, their managers five steps behind them, then being also filmed going to their car, together - that was their doing. That happened only because they wanted it to happen.

According to the paparazzi he was there by chance.

But they weren't. They weren't walking the streets hand in hand out in the open thinking they won't be recognized. They knew they would be. It was a given. Them being who they are, with the entourage and the security.

The manager, knowing they were being filmed, did not send him on his merry way, but only had him move a little further away, after confirming their identity and getting his permission to film them!!

And then you have the French paparazzi laws and regulations.

Oh, they were definitely aware they were being filmed, and showed no issues with it. No hiding, no letting go of hands, quite the opposite. A confident walk hand in hand down the Paris street, all being filmed, all while knowing this is going to spread like wild fire.

There is zero doubt in my mind that this whole thing was orchestrated (as in them knowing someone is going to get them on film and the whole thing will blow up) and is their way of going public. Not in Korea, in Paris, for the whole world to see.

To see them walking hand in hand on the streets of Paris, the city of lights, the city of romance and love.

To see them with their staff, just to make sure there is no mistaken identity and no "this is cosplay" or "it's not Tae, it's someone else" or "it's just a random Asian couple" (like seriously? And that random Asian couple happen to have staffers and security following them and protecting them too?) or the rest of the delusional farts we've been hearing for the past few hours.

This was not a 2 second clip. This was getting them from several angles, following them as they walk down the street, go back to their car.

The two have been together for at the very least 18 months now.

My guess is that there needed to be some kind of clarity of intent from Tae's side before enlistment, as Jenni is expected to wait for him to finish his military service and I assume she expected some kind of commitment from him.

What surprised me was the timing.

I kind of thought Tae and Jenni would make it public before his enlistment because of the above mentioned, but I never in my wildest dreams expected him to do so before his solo album.

Fuck, man is brave.

Cause let's be real. He knows. He knows exactly how fickle and vile TKKs and his solos are. He knows that there will be a price to pay. And he surprised me, he really did. I admit so here fully.

I guess the cards are already starting to fall into place.

In an article published on Naver by reporter Hyun-deok YG AND HYBE chose not to make a formal statement only saying:

"We do not know because it is the artist's private life."

Come on now. This is as good as a formal statement saying they're together.

We saw how fast YG were to deny dating rumors attached to Rose, Hybe too when there were pics involved.

And there are definitley pics involved.

Also, I suggest you read the article. Because it as good as confirms them being a couple as is.

For example:

"V and Jennie were spotted traveling together on Jeju Island in May of last year, and dating rumors were raised."

Not edited pics, not people think they might have seen them. This is confirmation to the validity of those photos.

I guess now we wait and see.

I really do believe this was them saying "here we are and we are together" for the world, for their fandoms.

We will wait and see if the agencies do make official statements about it, but possibly they want to wait a little longer before doing so, or maybe, just maybe, this is a new era, where the companies just let their artists be (not betting on that one though).

There has been talk about a Dispatch couple reveal coming up. Idk where it's coming from or if there is any truth to it. If, by any chance this is true, it will be interesting to see if Dispatch got exclusivity on the big reveal, and that's where we'll be getting their own statements, coming from the companies, but the two of them confirming it out loud.

I've seen TKKs spaces, they are going absolutely feral. One thing I see repeated is that if Dispatch says it's true, then it's true. If there is something, anything, that can get them to just STOP, stop their vile behaviour, stop their hate, just stop, then I'm all for it, as long as it's on Taenni's own terms. And their night stroll in Paris kind of tells me that if it happens, it's their decision, it's them giving the green light to go ahead and let everyone know.

I would love to see a Cannes red carpet couple. Too much? Perhaps. But a gal can dream.
