HI! omg i read your knee deep at atp with wilbur and i loved it so much that a few ideas came up. so reader is now the unofficial 6th member of lovejoy (tommy being the 5th) and they finally do live shows. one time, wil asks them to play his guitar parts for one show. another time, the band tricked reader into playing the drums as a sub for mark who *injured* his hand before a show bc reader is an amazing musician and the boys wants them to show their talent. reader finds out it but is happy.

Wilbur knew your potential

From the moment Tommy gushed out about how talented you were and how Wilbur would like you too, he knew he had to meet you

And even with such high expectations put on you from your chaotic friend, they were surprisingly met

You could play various instruments, you had a great singing voice and would from time to time write some songs

So what stopped you from taking the leap of fate into the singing world?

The fear of failure

Everybody is afraid of doing something new or unknown, because you never know how it could end up

And that feeling of defeat and failure scared you into never making a move into your dream career

But the members of Lovejoy, plus Tommy, wanted to change that asap

So they came up with a plan

They'd make you play live with them until you would get comfortable doing it on your own

And so the first step of the plan came

Lovejoy were "performing" during a little streamer gathering organized by Wilbur and Tommy

All of their friends were there and so were you, since you knew almost everyone there

Out of nowhere you were called backstage and told that Joe was running late and that Lovejoy needed a temporary guitarist, at least until their official one arrived

You quickly went into "absolutely fucking not" mode and tried to back out

But after a few "please" 's and puppy eyes from Tommy and Ash, who was weirdly good at it wt- you gave in

At first you were super nervous, a crowd of people would be seeing you play live and all their eyes would've been on you if you did something wrong

But after a little pep talk from Wilbur, about how the crowd was made up of friends that would never judge you by a small mistake, you started to calm down

The live went great, you played "One Day" and "Taunt" before Joe arrived, and you were amazing

Your friends even complimented you about how good you were

But this was just the first step

In the next few months things like these seem to always happen

One day Ash had a last minute appointment and could not make it, the other Mark broke his hand, Joe kept on being "late" to some shows; but the one that made you the most nervous was when Wilbur "lost his voice"

You honestly felt like puking. You were so nervous that you couldn't stay still so you kept on walking back and forth

This time Ash stepped in, telling you that after every challenge you have surpassed this was no different and that if anything happened they would quickly step in

Mark, Joe and Wilbur were behind Ash giving you exited smiles and thumbs up

You all had a cute friends moment where you all group hugged, Tommy joined too cause he felt lonely, and then you went on stage

From Wilbur exited screams you realized what has been happening, and you couldn't be happier to have such encouraging friends

The next week you opened your own youtube account and started making your own music, which quickly received a lot of attention and you started having a fandom of your own

Lovejoy couldn't be more proud of you and you can never thank them enough for giving you the push you needed

Bonus: as Lovejoy starts going on tour, you join them as their opening act

10 Anti LO Asks

1. I don't think LO fans get this but the having to resort to tearing everything else down to prop it up is actually a worse indictment on its quality than not. If LO is truly this great of a piece of work, it should be able to stand on its own, not having harassment/smear campaigns against even remotely similar (or not) pieces of work to make it look "better" in comparison. What happened to H/P Ficlets is probably the most nasty example of LO fans being cruel in the name of making LO look "better"

2. I want to know what Kool-Aid LO fans are on because I've seen so many of them say the art is actually BETTER than it was in the beginning. Like girl what, go check your eyes 💀

3. I saw Overly Sarcastic Production's explanation of the Persephone myth. It started out really good, covering the 'possible' ancient background on the myth, and reiterating how the Homeric Hymn to Demeter is the best version we have in terms of detail. They also don't try and demonize Demeter or try to make the myth seem like some kind of romance epic.

Then the end of the video comes along and ruins the entire thing - they basically encourage people to read Lore Olympus and continue the false narrative that Persephone and Hades are the 'most functional relationship' in mythology.

It's just so frustrating to see even a popular myth youtube channel is falling for the Tumblr false interpretation of the myth that ruined Lore Olympus while completely missing the point of the story. It was always meant to be about the relationship between mother and daughter - not a damn romance. 

4. ive seen so many lo fans condemn zeus (in comic) for being more flamboyant/not being hyper masculine as hades and im like 1) ok so hades is boring while zeus is fun, got it but also 2) considering zeus' myth canon bisexuality and lo's obsession with being very heterosexual that just seems ... wrong. like i dont think they mean to be biphobia/harmful while saying stuff like this but the fact they do zero relfection on it is a big issue.

5. tbh i was willing to give the benefit of a doubt about hades and minthe but then we find out HADES is the one who blurred the lines and chased after HER and started the relationship and made her to have an apartment and stuff all under HIS control so its like?? he went after her, he's the one who wasnt being professional and went after his employe, he controls all her finances and the literal roof over her head, but we're supposed to be on HIS side and see her as ungrateful/evil??? girl what!!

6. im sorry i just cant take the "sexy" panels hades seriously because 1) its always very clearly traced, 2) it just doesnt look right given how bad the anatomy is, but also 3) its just weirdly ooc?? like rachel cant decide if hes this serious brooding king who you dont mess with or an empty headed, horny teenager. im not saying he cant have duality to him but its hard to be like "isnt he cute?" when he owns slaves, neglects children, & takes advantage of vulnerable young women into relationships

7. im begging rachel to pick up an anatomy book or something on her break WHY is hades' head so tiny now??? how did she go from semi ok anatomy to whatever this is?? and you cant go "thats her style!" because it legit doesnt even look good or cohesive or even like what we know she once could do, it just looks like a mess. i dont get how you draw non-stop for years and actually get WORSE at it.

8. i just get sad because i follow a lot of webtoon creators who feel dejected and neglected by WT meanwhile they just throw up more and more promotion for LO and shove it everyones' faces (when it very much does NOT need the help) while these other creators feel so left behind many that many of them don't even want to make another comic again. i cant imagine that feels good that they have to work twice as hard if not more to even get noticed meanwhile rachel just gets everything handed to her.

9.i do not get why rachel went with the "gods dont care/hate mortals" take in LO. even just a skim of any myth will show you the gods, for all their faults, did care about mortals and wanted the best for them. like if they hated them so much, why even let them exist? why care persephone killed so many of them? why provide them with food, water, etc? also most of the male gods have children with mortal women, why would they do that if they hate them? it's such a bad take to go with.

As about the "give me a character thing", Heather and Sierra

Nice choices - okay so Heather

How I feel about this character: Oh my god! I despised Heather the second I got a good taste of her vibe on that dock because she reminded me so much of the reigning “Mean Girls” at my high school, but I also found her fascinating by just how far she’s willing to go with making sure she’s in the good no matter who she has to stomp on. There’s a lot of truth in having an entertaining villain, and Heather certainly didn’t make things boring - no matter how manipulative and underhanded those actions were. Oh and those moments where Karma would come back to bite her in the ass on Island were ridiculously satisfying~✨

All the people I ship romantically with this character: 100% Alejandro - its the love/hate shared respect with a dash of rivalry passion that they have. Neither is honestly a “good person”, but you can clearly see that they honestly care for each other. They keep each other on their toes - its very Mr. & Mrs. Smith.  

My non-romantic OTP for this character: Courtney or Leshawna or both. Our proud former CIT can easily go toe-to-toe with someone as meticulous as the Queen Bee and let’s not forget that she can be just as merciless when it comes to bending other’s to her will. I don’t think I would say they would ever be best friends or friend like go do our nails and just hang out, but friends in the sense of getting drinks or coffee and having those serious talks about stuff like gossip and venting and they know they can turn to the other when they need a cut and dry no punches held back reality check.   Oh these two sure as all hell are not “besties”, but if the show hadn’t scrapped what little progress she and Heather were starting to make at possibly learning to tolerant each other better like they were on Action then I like to think they’d be able to be more civil and dish dirt. Still plenty of fights though, but that’s not uncommon between girls with a whole lot of pride and two very distinct ways of viewing the world.

My unpopular opinion about this character: When fans think Heather is some sort of Master Strategist from the get-go and planned every single move she made on Island... Guys, she’s cunning, manipulative, and the only morals she follows are the ones that solely benefit her. She’s got the looks, brains, and talent to already be given anything she desires on a silver platter just for those traits alone, but Heather has an ego the size of the continent that she so fantasizes of ruling over and an appetite for POWER. Last I checked... That’s pretty typical Popular Alpha Bitch 101 right there. Besides, if she were that level of Strategist then she would have planned way ahead for a number of possibilities like Beth standing up to her or Gwen getting payback for the whole PUBLIC DIARY READING!

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I wish we got to see a bit more of Heather’s vulnerability like during the special in between Island and Action. It really just helps as a reminder that despite everything, she still is a teenager and a human. She may not be the best type of person, but she could be a victim of her own reputation that she’s built as the Queen Bee/Mean Girl and I think that’s something that unfortunately happens to a lot of people where they have to keep..”acting” a certain role. Its essentially pigeonholing yourself.

And now Sierra

How I feel about this character: Not going to lie, but I had mixed feelings about Sierra when we first got introduced to her. A big part of it is because I actually can’t stand people who are so obsessed with anything, and no - I don’t mean “obsessed” in the cutesy sugar-watered way about someone just being so into something that they have this passion for it and all the intricate parts... No, I mean the “obsessed” way as in OBSESSED as in the clear definition where people feel uncomfortable or get tired real quick of being around said individual. I’ve dealt with that before in High School and its where I quickly learned to not share right away the shows or movies I’m into that fall under the category of Animated. ITS! NOT! FUN!!! That and while I admit I did get some amusement at seeing Cody get a taste of his own medicine - you’re a damn liar if you say he wasn’t hella CREEPER in WT with Gwen, she was no angel during that season, but have SOME dignity, Cody 🙄 aim a little higher than scoring for a rebound, dude - Sierra’s..enthusiasm.. was just..whoa. I feel like she knocked Izzy off the Crazy pedestal in that season big time. 

All the people I ship romantically with this character: Yeah no... no... just no... At least not until the girl gets the proper help she needs first from professionals and does some reflecting and remembers AGAIN that these are PEOPLE, not just cardboard cutouts and posters that you can leer and confess all sorts of worrying and disturbing fantasies to. And even after that, I still wouldn’t ship her with anyone from the show... Maybe some nice S/O that’ll make her feel special and give her the attention and affection she’s been denied for so long. 

My non-romantic OTP for this character: I don’t ship them romantically, but I do think the idea of Sierra actually having a friendship with Cody is real cute. That’s why I get salty over what was done on All-Stars to her and even her having that nasty accident on WT right when she’s finally getting it, that Cody is a actual person that has feelings and worries just like she does.

My unpopular opinion about this character: I honestly can’t think of any... Well aside from some hc about Chris possibly being her biological Dad - like wtf? From everything that's mentioned and hinted in canon and her official contestant bio, her life is sad enough so why make it sadder?

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: That she never relapsed the way she did on All-Stars and she’d gotten a chance to really prove herself by her own skills. Sort of a way to prove that she’s a lot more than  just a Super Fan, you know?

I’m glad it holds no bad memories for you now my love ^^ Thank you for reading the chapter dear :D And as for their ages, I did specify Yoongi’s was older than Taehyung in a precious chapter (I just can’t remember which chapter, sorry!) and Namjoon is University/college age so somewhere between 18-25 (I decided not to give a specific age). Unfortunately, I never specified Hoseok and Seokjin’s ages in the story but they would have been University age too :D

Anyways… As always, I’m reviewing 5 people’s outfits. However, this time I’ll be reviewing more than 1 outfit on some people because I NEED to. Hope you enjoy. 🙃🙃

2019 Coachella Fashion Review:

  Ariana Grande:

Yasssss my queeeeeeeeeen!!!!! 😍😍

Ok so if you didn’t know, she headlined Coachella, like what? I mean, that’s amazing!

Outfit 1:

Ok so the first outfit, which is the one she used first, she wore something like that on tour, but it was like pastel pink, now she did this beautiful dark pink kind of lipstick color which I’m obsessed with! 😍 I mean, look at it, it’s really weird!

I love the sleeves and the bra and the fact that the shirt is put on with a belt lol 😂 Also, her signature boots are a-MA-zing!!! Idk if you can see the headband, but I didn’t like it 😅

Outfit 2:

This other outfit on the right, I didn’t like it so much. I mean, I LUV the color, like, it’s been one of my fave colors since like, the past 2 years or something. 😍😍 I also love the bra,, love the belt things!

What I didn’t like so much was the skirt and the sleeves, they’re too corny in my opinion. She looks like a fairy, don’t get me wrong, I would’ve loved that when I was about 6 or 7. But idk, it doesn’t convince me 😅

Outfit 1:

Ok so her first outfit, I loved it! I love blue, although that exact blue I’m not a huge fan of, it’s not that vibrant. You know what would’ve been amazing, she should’ve worn it with a white shirt underneath! And I’m not saying this cause Bad Guy, but it’s true! And I love shirts. 😅

Everything looks better with a shirt on.

I love the fact that she worn sunglasses, I love it! I mean, I don’t love those sunglasses in particular, but I love the vibe! Also, she’s doing black hair now? What? I love it!!!!

Outfit 2:

Ok the second one is great! I’ve been loving super baggy clothes lately! 😍😍 She looks really confortable and white makes her stand out a lot, considering everything else is dark.

And can we talk about the hair? She is rocking those messy buns!! She looks so cute!!! Argh, she’s so different!

Cardi B:

Ok so I wasn’t expecting this outfit from Cardi, she usually wears more, standing out clothes? You know?

I love that sort of corset she’s wearing! 😍 That’s actually something I feel like I could wear, it’s just I don’t like the roses so much, you now? It could’ve either have had pearls on, or diamonds or just be a plastic shiny corset, does that makes sense?

I also don’t get what she’s wearing underneath, I mean, it has little bangs, right? *is that what they’re called btw?* They could’ve been longer, you know, to give it more salsa when she dances, right? 😂 I love the high neck btw 😍

Oh and her hair and makeup look amazing, as always!

I personally don’t like it, there’s literally no fabric, which is very risky and also, I don’t like chains or anything like that, so it would give me a lot of anxiety to wear it, cause they gross me out a little. 😅 Plus that dress *it’s a dress, right?* must’ve been really cold when she first put it on. 😅

The makeup is very Coachella, which is great, and her hair is nicely curled, which is cool.

Ok someone’s gonna kill me but the way she drew out her lips makes her look like a drag queen lmao 😂😂😅

Ok so I’m usually I’m not a big fan of her fashion, but this killed me! 😍😍 I mean, a pantsuit… in Coachella? Girl you’re amazing!!! I love the shirt/blouse, I’m not sure what it is, I love it! It makes her look like Mozart or these peeps, you know? I’m in love! I love that it’s all white, it gives it something more… idk how to describe it 😅 *and I can’t even find the words in spanish so.. hehe*

I don’t like the hair so much, it gives me pirate vibes and I don’t like that 😅 She could’ve word this classic short straight bob, but no, she went pirate, why? 😭😭

1. Choose Your Fighter

There are a plethora of words and behaviors that can get you booted from the platform and all of them are vaguely explained with the broadest interpretation possible. Exercise restraint in your tender first few days and resist following back your new friends too quickly as this will result in a “shadowban" or will prompt Big Brother to underhandedly investigate your phone number under the guise of checking to see if you're human, as if robots can't be programmed to use a phone. I suggest just a few follows per hour- keeping it under 100 for the first day. Apparently, according to Ze Bluebird Gestapo, having like minded friends is the same thing as terrorism and you will be gulaged for it. Yes, I'm mixing up Nazi and Communist metaphors in the same sentence. Don't @ me.

4. Personal Security

You need to download and use a VPN. The animals you will run across will pull cute little stunts, like e-drag you into an argument by calling you completely true things as if they are an insult, and acting as if per capita is a flavor of snow cone only people who hate communism can taste. and then drop a link as if they are proving a point, but in reality is an IP address snatcher which is used to find out who and where you are, instead of just answering the question about why 13% of the population commits over 54% of all violent crime.

Next you will want to turn on the double authentication feature, because as soon as you say something true, some cyber-SJW is going to start jaw-jacking from the monumental sugar rush from powdered donuts and 17 cases of orange flavored Mountain Dew and try to hack your account. In the same vein, make certain your email address is hidden and that you aren't using @YourRealEmailAddress as your handle. For your password, use a ridiculous combination of letters and numbers that have no connection to your actual life- which the hideous banshees and their he-minions are trying to end. 5. Get a Thesaurus

I've said it before but it bears repeating; get a thesaurus. Use uncommon synonyms.

To engage a hostile blue check mark I recommend to avoid placing your extra-spicy tweet on the thread under their tweet. Instead, drop a teaser; then quote tweet the azure-ticked parasite and drop your main show, curtain call, and encore onto your own wall. Most of the people who sit around deriving sexual pleasure from the fantasy of Nazi scalp-hunting haunt the timelines of these verified whine bags, just waiting for you to show up to report your ‘spouts of hate’. Or, as I like to call them, incontrovertible but inconvenient truths.

7. Types of bans and what to do

You are going to get banned at some point. Deal with it.

Shadowban: this is triggered by following too fast, liking too much, retweeting too often, being too active when new, using too many hashtags, using popular hashtags in multiple tweets, and just for the random inconvenience because you're found to be guilty by association. Your options are to take a break, or power through it. There is some theory that these shadowbans are on timers of 1, 3, 5, 12, and 24 hours and that tweeting resets the timer and extends the discomfort. If you have triggered one you will experience a sudden drop in interaction and may think that your friends are ignoring you. They likely just aren't getting your notifications. If you want to check, DM a friend and ask them to tell you if your notifications are coming through. DO NOT use a shadowban checker website, it's believed that these are run by la resistance, and may put your account at risk; or at least in a database to be watched closely. In any case, shadowbans are usually temporary and you'll be back to normal before you know it. It's worth noting that more shadowbanning occurs during certain news cycles like mass casualty events, terror attacks, and when the President does something noteworthy.

Permanent Shadowban: On rare occasions the shadowban never goes away. I don't know what to do about it but if you have some verifiable information regarding this, please contact me or Republic Standard.

12 hour, 24 hour, and 7 day temporary restrictions: Oooh you bad bad boy! Looks like you broke ToS and had to delete some tweets. You should have followed my advice. Tsk tsk. You can DM your mutual followers, participate in DM groups and you can share tweets from the timeline to the DMs, and block accounts. I wish I didn't have to go there, but I have to go there. Even if you have a pure, hate-free, friendly account that never runs the risk of crossing ToS, you still aren't out of the frying pan.

Being right wing has painted a big old target on your back and some of the people aiming arrows at you are going to look a lot like friends, and potential lovers.

Infiltration isn't a new tactic. On anonymous Twitter it's not even particularly hard. Despite the fact that most people who try are hilariously bad at it, some aren't. Despite all the accurate memes about the left being dumb and useless, when it comes to operational security the left is a decade ahead of the right. Whether you agree with the ideas of real-world rallies or not, we have to come to the understanding that social media platforms are not secure places to organize such things. Unite the Right organizers just managed to doxx themselves because they could not get this very simple idea into their skulls. If it isn't on a website you control from the code up and you are operating military grade hardware, it's not even remotely close to secret. Stop thinking that it is.

Fall into a QAL: Block 1

It’s finally here! Welcome to week one of a mystery Fall quilt along, presented by Partners in Design! Our last quilt along (the I Wish You a Merry QAL) was so popular and so fun, we decided to host another one. So grab your fall fabrics and let's get started!

For my quilt, I’m going scrappy with the goal of reducing my stash. No new fabrics for me if I can help it. <grin> Here's my initial fabric pull--I'll add to this as I need for each block.

To create this pile, I started with that lovely batik at the bottom of this image. Then I pulled fabrics to compliment it. If you need more fabric help or additional details on the quilt along itself, click here.

The first block in our quilt along was designed by Vanda @ Quilting with Vanda and it’s an adorable hedgehog! Here’s my version.

This block utilizes fusible applique, although you can use hand applique if you want (just add seam allowances to the templates when you cut out your pieces.) If you’ve never attempted applique before, don’t worry. As a quilt along host, I’m here to help!

My Fabric Pull for This Block

For this block, I had a few goals. First, since it was the first block in the quilt, I wanted it to set the tone. To accomplish this goal I decided that the hedgehog needed to compliment my focus fabric and really pull some of its colors out.

Second, I wanted the block to be funky and fun and to use a mix of prints and batiks. Finally, I wanted to keep the contrast between the body and the face of the original block so the hedgehog would look just as cute. Here's Vanda's block from the pattern.

For my fabric pull I started with the fabric for the hedgehog's body--a wonderful burgundy with a curly motif that reminded me a bit of fur. Next, I found a golden orange batik with a cute dot that I thought complimented the burgundy nicely and provided that contrast I wanted between the hedgehog's body and its face.

I chose a warm orange for the feet and ears, a blue green for the eyes, and a dark olive green for the nose. I deliberately chose small prints so the features of the hedgehog would not get lost in the design of the fabric.

Finally, I auditioned the fabric pull on my focus fabric to see how well it complimented it. It looked so good I decided to use some of the focus fabric as the background for the block. I think it makes my hedgehog look like he's in a forest!

Block Tips

Here are my tips for making the block:

When you print out the templates on page 3-4 of the pattern, make sure you print at 100% and do not scale the pattern to fit. I always measure my printout to make sure it's right. Yep! The 1-inch square measures one inch!

Cut your background square 13” as instructed. I’ve found that applique often distorts your block just a bit, so working with a background that's large enough so you can square it up after you get the block appliqued is a good idea.

I like to use the Crafted Applique method for my fusible applique, so I went about making this block a bit differently than most people. First, I rough-cut the templates, and use them to cut out the fabrics. For the eyes, ears, and paws, I simply folded the fabric and cut two at a time rather than use two different templates for each eye, ear, or paw. Folding it this way creates to mirror-image pieces, perfect for the eyes, ears, and paws.

Next, I applied Fabric Modge-Podge to the back side of each piece, just along the edges. I use cheap foam brushes and the back side (non-printed) side of some grocery bags to apply the Modge-Podge. You can learn more about this method in the Crafted Applique book by Lara Buccella. In the book you'll learn that there are different kinds of Modge-Podge and that each one works differently in quilt applique.

The Modge-Podge seals the edges of the appliques so they won't fray. According to the book, you can skip the fusible part and simply iron your pieces to the background and the Modge-Podge will make them stay. I think I must handle my block too much because the pieces don't stay for me like they do when you fuse them. So what I do is apply the Modge-Podge and then add a bit of fusible or fabric glue to each applique piece so it'll stick long enough for me to stitch it down. If you read the book you'll get tons of ideas and awesome tips for applying the Crafted Applique method to the way you like to work so that you get good results.

By the way, with the Crafted Applique method you don't need to stitch along the edges of your applique pieces because the edges are sealed and won't fray. I stitch them down because I like the look and because they don't seem to fuse permanently for me. (I'm just too much of a fabric fondler I guess! <grin>)

For my block, I used Aurifil 50 wt. #5013 (Asphalt), Aurifil 80 wt #2885 (Medium Spruce), Wonderfil Konfetti 50 wt #KT402 (Drab Orange), and Sulky 40 wt #1035 (Dark Burgundy) to finish the edges of my applique.

If you're not going to use the Crafted Applique method, then trace the templates onto the back side of your fusible and rough-cut the fusible out. I typically cut out the center of each fusible piece to reduce the amount of fusible I apply to my fabric. This keeps the piece from getting stiff. Iron the fusible (glue side down) to the back of each applique fabric, then cut each piece out right on the line. (With fusible applique, you don't leave a seam allowance.)

I use Heat n Bond Lite, so I press with a Medium dry iron (no steam).

When I have an applique that's made up of several shapes (like this hedgehog), I build the image on a Teflon pressing sheet. With the sheet, you can fuse each part in place without fusing the entire hedgehog to anything.

When you're done building the hedgehog, you simply move it to the background and fuse it in place. Using this method allows you to center the hedgehog on the background as a single unit. So much easier than guessing!

If you don't have a Teflon pressing sheet you can use parchment paper. If you think there might be stray glue on the front side of the piece, protect your iron from the fusible glue by using a pressing cloth (between the shapes and the iron) when fusing.

If you get fusible on your iron, just rub it off with a used dryer sheet while the iron is still a bit hot. Works like magic!

After fusing the hedgehog to the background, stitch around the edges of each applique piece with matching thread. I typically use a straight stitch, although you could use a small zig-zag, blanket stitch, or satin stitch.

When I use a satin stitch to finish the edges of my applique, I fuse a wash-away stabilizer to the back of the block before stitching in order to prevent puckering.

After appliqueing the hedgehog in place, I lightly pressed my block and then trimmed it to 12 1/2” square. First I trimmed the bottom side, making sure that it was level with the bottom of the paws.

When I next trimmed the right side, I made sure that the nose was centered within the width of the block. Finally, I trimmed the top and left side so that the block was cut to 12-1/2" square.
