I feel like one of the themes the writers of Kevin Can F Himself are going for is that sitcom-style presentation softens clear abuse to the point that it becomes hard to notice. Like as long as there is a laugh track, most people would struggle to clock Kevin as being abusive. But honestly I could tell from the first episode just by how he treated the coffee table in the living room. Allison got that coffee table on major discount from pottery barn and she is proud of it. Getting a table that nice for cheap is an achievement and it's clearly the nicest thing she owns, but none of this matters to Kevin, in fact, the very reason of her valuing the table is openly mocked by Kevin. He goes on to put drinks without coasters on it, puts his feet up on it, and stands on it eventually breaking it only crudely fixing it with duct tape to restore it's basic function as a coffee table and to lower it to his level. Kevin treats it with such disdain and abandon it's honestly instantly clear that nothing Allison values matters to him and that it's essentially open season on everything that makes Allison herself and not just Mrs. McRoberts or Mrs. Worcester Wild Dude. I love that you can analyze something as mundane as a coffee table in this show and see it as a microcosm of Allison and Kevin's marriage and a representation of Kevin's abusive treatment of Allison

Last Twilight Ep 8; Thoughts
We're at the 2/3 mark of the show, and the episode honestly felt surreal. Last Twilight is continuing to parallel iconic moments of Bad Buddy, this time with running away and scenes on the beach. However, it never feels like it's boring or repetitive, because while the parallels are clear, the shows are also distinct. It's clear that the characters in the two shows are pushed by different things.
Tumblr media
I was yelling at the screen when I realized Mhok and Day were going off on their own, because ditching Night = recipe for disater (he'd obviously call Day's mom!?!)
Tumblr media
But then this happened, and I had to pause and take a moment, now that my fears had been resolved. We know so little about Night, and yet so much. Understanding his character requires a lot of reading in between the lines, and until we know what happened between the brothers, the picture won't be complete. I did, in fact, breathe a huge sigh of relief when I realized that Night was in on it, because while Mhok and Day are capable of handling themselves, if Day's mother found out, we all know that it wouldn't make for a pretty situation.
Which calls in something else I'm curious about. Is Day really naive enough to believe that they can ditch Night with no consequences? Or is there some trust left in Day, that Night will let them go. Has he figured that Night is likely in on it, and is choosing to remain quiet?
There's a number of possibilities, and I'm curious to see how it plays out. It's highly likely that his anxiousness to get away from Night, and trust in Mhok meant that the though simply hasn't crossed his mind too.
On that topic, if we rewind to the beginning of the ep
Tumblr media
I just love how much Day trusts Mhok. It's obvious, but I felt it was worth pointing out. Mhok tells Day that there's no one there, and Day accepts. Mhok having played the caregiver role for Day for so long is definitely the main reason for this, and it's beautiful to watch.
Tumblr media
Speaking of transparency in their relationship, can I take a moment to talk about just how much I loved this scene? Mhok was upset about the prank, and Day wasn't taking it seriously. Mhok could have clammed up, creating tension between the two. It would even be expected, given his role as Day's caretaker and the 'put Day first' mentality that we've seen so far. But he doesn't, and oh my god, this calls for aplause. He calls Day out on it, and gives Day a taste of his own medicine. And, this is something that perfectly shows that things are not the same now that they're boyfriends. Mhok gets more agency, more say, because he's one half of the relationship. I've said thia before about the subversion of faen fatale, and I'll say it again; Last Twilight has a very strong identity as a show, and a very strong grasp on what it's doing. Time and time again, it has shown us opportunities that it could have taken to create drama, and veered in the opposite direction entirely. The subversion is intentional, and clearly so.
While we're talking about characters standing up for their feelings..
Tumblr media
I feel like someone should create a masterpost of everything we know about Night, and we can add on every bit of new info we get and compare it to the rest, because everything tells us so little yet so much. It seems that Night is still willing to push against Day's hatred. But of course, he's more willing to allow Day to live happily, as we see him letting the two go off on their own. It seems that every time Night does something for Day, he prefers to do it anonymously, such as showing up to the race. We've seen that he's accepted the villain image. Is this why he seems keen on upholding that villain image in front of Day, while helping him behind his back? P'Aof isn't one to write conflict for small or petty reason, so I'm starting to be more and more convinced that Night genuinely did something wrong to Day. He regrets it, but he also knows he can't take it back or heal their bond, so he's simply keeping the status quo, helping his brother behind his back, while only allowing himself to be selfish on occasion, like this one. I'm so intrigued by Night and his mannerisms, his actions.
Back tracking a bit again, (this is a mess)
Tumblr media
This scene was a pivotal moment. I've previously mentioned that Day was living in a fantasy, and I've also briefly touched on Day's sence of normalcy in a post, how he was relying on things to go back to 'normal' and how he's been able to build a new normal with Mhok. He'd get the transplant eventually, and things would go back to 'normal'. Mhok helped Day redefine his 'normal', but the hope that his sight would return one day was still present. Here, it's shattered. Up till now, Day was living his life as if he were biding his time till he got his eyesight back. Now he's going to be living as if he has to wrap up a lifetime of memories in three months. He's feeling as though time is running out.
Tumblr media
I think this is one of the first times I've seen Day talk back to his mom, which is fair, because it's ingrained in asian kids to not talk back to your elders. Day is, in the end, a rich kid. On top of that, he has a single mom. 1+1=2, Day didn't get to see much of his mom growing up. @waitmyturtles talked about this a bit in a post, mentioning how Day's mom's career always came first. She didn't have time to attend a game because she had an event, she couldn't come to school for something because she had a meeting, etc etc. (I don't know how much of an age gap there is between Day and Night, but anyone thinking that Night had to fill in on occasion..?) He's making a jab at his mom, that she's far to busy to be there with him for stuff, and she's far too overprotective to let another be there with him for it. Again, typical rich family dysfunction. Day and his mother's dynamic will be an interesting thing to watch as the episodes progress, that's for sure.
Alright, onto the last one
Tumblr media
When I'm not sure if there's a deeper meaning behind a scene, music is always a great clue that there is something greater behind it. As episodes progress, we've seen Day slowly reassimilate himself in society. This is such an important theme, because being a part of and engaging with society is a huge part of asian culture. I view this dance as a sort of culmination of the progress that Day has made over time with Mhok. Would the Day at the beginning of the series have danced with a stranger at a party while having worse eyesight that before? No way in hell. Also, paying respect and interactling with older people is, again, a HUGE part of asian culture, so this was essentially the perfect way to depict this culmination. When the first episode had aired, @twig-tea had first introduced in a post the theme of liminality in Last Twilight. One of the definitions given was "of, relating to, or being an intermediate state, phase, or condition : IN-BETWEEN, TRANSITIONAL". Since Mhok entered Day's life, he's been in a liminal (transitional) state, as he moves closer to rejoing society. In this scene, we see what I'd like to say is the end of this liminal state. Of course, this isn't to say that Day is no longer in a state of liminality. Liminality presents itself in various ways throughout the show. This is simply a culmination of Day and Mhok's efforts to reintegrate Day into society. While the battle is far from over; disable people often find themselves outcasted and removed from society; it's a sign of hope, a sign of growth, a sign that their efforts have a result.

Dead Friend Forever ep 10
I'm not sure how much I buy this version of events by Phee. It seems...too easy. But maybe it's because that would mean there is/are no other person/people involved (i.e. Non and/or Keng and/or White) and that would be disappointing. Nah, I'm holding out hope that this isn't the actual true events.
Yes, that IS the head of another person there with Tan and Top!
So Phee really did tell Jin everything...and then Jin admitted to posting the video...and they're ok with each other. They've found some 'comfort' in both being as bad as the other I guess.
I hate (LOVE) that I can't tell what is real/truth and what is part of the revenge plan 👀
So Fluke is finally including himself in saying 'we' hurt Non. *insert growth!gif*
How can they always act so cool about being in the middle of nowhere in the woods. You can literally die by being lost and walking in circles.
Again, I still don't know why Jin needs help to walk when it's his shoulder that's hurt 😂 It's like these actors and acting coaches have never been injured in their lives to know what it's like.
Haha yes! Someone else IS there and making other marks in the trees to fuck with Jin (and Phee?) 👏🏼
Top could get his arms out of those ropes easily, that's either a really sloppy filming error or these boys need to learn how to restrain someone better.
Oh White has the gun now does he? 👀
And how did Jin just fall over nothing? Oh I get it, the axe needs to be left there for someone to pick up later, right?
I don't think I've mentioned this yet but I can't stop thinking about how the end of their film is Jin running alone out of the house, implying he' a lone survivor, so I wonder if we'll get some kind of subverted parallel of that at the end of this nightmare for them all (which I don't think will be the ending of the series but I might be wrong - I don't watch horror so I don't know what 'beats the show needs to hit').
So everyone knows who's who and what's been happening (sort of)...and of course Fluke goes for the gun, which I guess needed to happen to take focus away from the Tan/New revelation.
Yes! Make Tee talk! Let's get new info!! And I want to know what Fluke did!!!
Of course Top can just stand up 🤦🏽‍♀️ Aaaaaand he's dead? Just from one shot to the stomach? (The severity of gunshot wounds vary greatly in bl -> we had Chart survive two shots to the back yesterday and Vegas survived multiple shots to his torso a few years ago but Top just keels over and is dead just like that? Oh! unless the gun has no live bullets but the drugs are making people think the gun/bullets are real???).
MOAR FLASHBACKS 😍
So Khun Keng IS dead. I wonder how they got the photo of him and Non then...maybe photoshop?
OH MY GOD THE TRAILER FOR NEXT WEEK LOOKS SO GOOD.
Damn, I wish I hadn't caught up. Now I have to wait a week and I have a VERY busy wed-mon coming up with work 🤦🏽‍♀️😭

“He understands what love is and whom he’s in love with. Physically it’s been quite demanding, and also emotionally it’s been quite demanding to be playing a man enraged by unrequited love, who’s basically a hopeless romantic, and to be able to play all that and also remember that this is fundamentally a comedy.”— Con O’Neill

Reflection on GO2 and my own reactions to it
Okay so. I am better after sleeping on it. Because there are things that are settling in after first shock. Because to be honest, this writing is very much brilliant. My first emotions were mostly based on the fact that I have seen my fictional confort couples suffer and never getting together. We know this isn't the case here, we just need to take some time - like they said to Muriel. The fact that they are making Crowley, the demon, person who is right and who sees heaven and hell like they are, is brilliant. Crowley sees outside the black and white, but doesn't have words to help Zira to understand. He is traumatized, he wants to preserve his happiness and protect Zira. He just don't know any other way to do it. Zira on the other hand is pretty naive. He has always been and it is part of his charm. I think Crowley sees a lot of that innocence what he left behind in him. But that also means Zira thinks he can change the world the "right way". And he doesn't understand why Crowley would not want to come back to Heaven with him - because he doesn't see the fact that even if he changes heaven, it will change very core of Crowley. He honestly thinks he can change the already broken system from the inside without loosing his or Crowleys sense of self. He is in a cult and has an huge religious drama.
They need this break up. They need to find themselves first to be able to understand they are stronger together. If this was straight couple I don't think I would question it for a second - because it is very basic writing. And what comes to Beelzebub and Gabriel. I need to step back and realize I have some internalized transphobia as a femme preceived nonbinary person who is also marrying a man. I was so stuck on a fact that they made Beelzebub more feminine and how people outside our own community sees them that I played straight into that narrative. That is not okay. Their story was lovely and I think it is meant to mirror what it could be if Crowley and Zira just went their merry way. Difference is, Zira still thinks naively he can make a change. Also I think my soul healed a little when Crowley said "I'm not. Neither, actually". It is such a small line but it meant WORLD to me as a nonbinary person. And me down playing Beelzebub is counteracting that.

Ok, some thoughts on episode one of The Last of Us under the cut:
I’m going to preface this by saying i know next to nothing about the game. I’ve seen gifs of it here, but that’s where my knowledge ends. Once Pedro’s casting was announced I decided that I was not going to watch any playthroughs. I wanted to go in with fresh eyes as much as possible. OK. Disclamer done. Here are some thoughts I had in no particular order.
I loved that they showed outbreak day through Sarah’s eyes. She’s just going to school and doing ordinary things. There’s hints around the edges that something is happening, but nothing direct, and I thought this served to crank the tension up to eleven. Sarah is our window into this world, and I love that we only know what she knows.
Also, the sweetness of the relationship between Joel and Sarah and Tommy. They only give us a little but it’s enough to see how much these three care about each other. I love Tommy mooching leftovers out of Joel’s fridge. That’s such a baby brother thing to do.
I love that the focus stays narrow as things inevitably go to shit. The world is coming apart and we see it happening through the windows of Joel’s truck while they’re trying to get out of town.
Even when they abandon the truck the camera is right on Joel and Sarah. IDK I was white knuckled through the first 30 minutes.
As soon as that FEDRA lady started promising that little kid all the toys he wanted to play with I was just like oh no.
The QZ. Yikes.
OK. I’m just gonna take a minute to scream about Pedro Pascal. The difference between how Joel carries himself pre and post breakout is so fucking stark.  I’ve seen several gifsets that show pre and post breakout Joel side by side and the difference in body language is incredible. Pedro can do so much with so little. There’s no need to explain Joel’s grief and withdrawal, it’s etched into every movement and facial expression. The shot of him cradling the dead child the same way he held Sarah and throwing him onto the fire, the absolute lack of emotion. Holy fucking shit. Pedro needs to get all the awards for this show and we’re only one ep in.
Ellie. I’ve had Ellie for one episode and if anything happens to her I will kill everyone in the room and then myself. Seriously though. I love this scrappy little girl. What’s the Troubled Bird meme about being 5oz’s of whoop-ass? She is twenty pounds of murder in a ten pound bag and I love her for it. I’m sorry, but when she pops out of that door and tries to stab Joel and he just launches her into the wall? I’ve got to imagine that his first thought was what the actual fuck?
I love her ok? I love her foul mouth, and snark and the fact that she’s the willing to fuck with Joel after knowing him for tens of minutes. I can’t wait to see these two bounce off each other some more.
And Tess. As I said before I know nothing about the games. But I’ll tell you right now that I love this lady. I have a feeling this is going to hurt me later on though. I love the relationship between her and Joel, there’s no I love you type histrionics, it’s all implied.
Anyway, that’s all I’ve got for now. I’ll probably post more nonsense as it occurs to me.

I just finished 3.10, the mid-season finale. Not as evil a cliffhanger as the past two seasons, but I think this one is the one that has me the most excited so far.
They've been teasing angst between Neal and Peter for the past few episodes and I am on the edge of my seat waiting for it. They played with the theme of trust between them a bunch in the first season, but now that so much more time has passed, that type of fracture to their relationship will hit so much harder. I am ecstatic for some real painful stuff, please please please let them deliver. This show hasn't let me down yet. I have high hopes.
