My TMA oc "The Witness" I don't have a name for him yet but he's a servant of the Eye and he's a serial chronic statement giver. He's just always around witnessing things to bring back and give a statement for. He is obsessive about being a voyeur, to the point that he even unsettles Elias (who he's INFATUATED with)

I don't think he has like eye observing abilities, but I think he's able to just be in the middle of situations and influence people to want to let him go as a witness of their atrocities. He gets nightmares still after giving statements but rather he has a lot more autonomy than Jon does. He gets to experience the horrors again as well as Jon's horror, a little bit of eye powers cannibalism as a treat. He also adores Jon, really he loves loves anyone connected with the eye but especially other avatars.

I wanna say he has some sort of avatar immortality too, but also I think that if his eyes get taken he just dies, like he's just dead. Any other part of him can heal. If he has one eye then he can regrow the other. But also you just reeeallly want to show him something and let him go.

Anyone he Witnesses won't have nightmares but they'll have daymares. Any time they lose focus and start to drift off Suddenly they are Being Watched and those memories resurface, always following them, keeping them hyper vigilant. Eye with a dash of lonely and distortion

Rewatching Step By Step from the start and I really really like how the show (and Ben) deals with Pat's feelings towards Jeng once he discovers he's his boss.

He literally goes from crushing on him, gossiping about him with his friends, flirting with him, looking at him like he hung the stars.... to burying those feelings so deep down it's like he never even had them in the first place they're so repressed.

He goes from viewing Jeng as a potential romantic interest to putting him in the boss box so fast and he doesn't even have to think about it, because anyone in that position wouldn't have to think about it. No matter how hot, kind, wonderful, whatever you're boss is you absolutely do not see them as anything other than your boss because you absolutely cannot afford to (and absolutely don't want to either).

And Pat..... Pat knows that and he locks everything down straight away. That first episode? Didn't happen, hot environmentalist who?

And I love how Pat putting Jeng in the "Boss Box" (as I'm going to term it) completely affects their dynamic going forward for him; everything kind gesture Jeng does gets filed away as "boss being kind and down with the employees" and nothing more (because anything more is not even on the table in Pat's head), every kind word "boss is just really encouraging and understanding".

Especially the moment when Jeng confesses/comes out. Of course Pat is shocked and disbelieving, the first rule of the "Boss Box" is that your boss' personal lives, their romantic feelings, their sexuality = absolutely none of your business as an employee, don't think about it, don't speculate, don't dig no matter how friendly you are with them. Jeng breaks that rule in the confession scene and Pat is faced with the realisation that that little box he put him in in episode 2? The one all employees use to keep sane and carry on? Well it's not so sturdy after all.
