Regulus can't help but smile to himself when he hears a familiar swoosh and crackle, then floo-dust being brushed off robes. He straightens his face before glancing over his shoulder, momentarily abandoning the kettle in front of him.

"How many times have I told you to stop dropping by unannounced?" He scolds lightly, but his words lack real fire behind them.

"Please..." James grins, all charm and even the slightest bit of arrogance. Regulus' stomach swoops. "As if you don't let the wards down just so I can come and bother you..."

He casually crosses the room, and soon there's a hand on his chin, drawing him in for a gentle kiss. Regulus closes his eyes and indulges in it. Merlin, he's a weak, weak man...

"Now pour me a cuppa and tell me about your day." James says as he pulls away, his smile now soft and warm. And Regulus does exactly that.

Aren't there three bedrooms in Joel and Ellie's house in Jackson?

"Ellie?" Joel called, poking his head into her room. "Have you seen Boggle?"

Ellie answered casually, not looking up from her comic. "Oh, I left it in Sarah's room."

Joel froze. "What?"

Ellie flushed, looking over at him and hunching her shoulders slightly. "Sorry, that's what I've been calling the other room."

Joel frowned, leaving her doorframe to go down the hall. Ellie got up to follow him. He paused in front of the spare room, then pushed the door open, stepping inside. His breath caught.

There were drawings of Sarah taped up on the walls all around. Joel turned in place, looking at all of the photos Ellie had drawn. Sarah smiling, Sarah laughing, Sarah and Joel hugging, Sarah and Joel cuddling. There were even a couple of Sarah and Ellie, and one of the three of them. Joel's eyes filled with tears, a confusing mix of grief and joy fighting within him. Ellie was standing behind him, quietly watching him, looking unsure. He knelt down, still looking at all the drawings, and reached out to hook an arm around her and pull her into a hug.

I've tried doing Re:Zero character tierlists before, but my tastes aren't very fixed and there's a bunch of characters I still need to read more about, so I'm never really satisfied with the result.

I don't even have a top 5 because my 5th favorite character varies often.

These first 4, however? They're the only constant.

Otto is my fave male character of all time; my life, my love, my everything.

Vincent is such a cool guy with a concept that almost feels tailored to me.

Lamia is incredibly charming and entertaining, best girl in the story to me; criminally underrated, though.

Marone is also awfully underrated, but I'm proud to recognize how amusing and precious she is.

I love most of the Re:Zero cast, but these 4 have a special place in my heart.
