he wants to celebrate this with sally, he NEEDS to celebrate this with sally, and when his eyes finally land on her, squeezing through the crowd to try and get to him, he waits until shes right at the side of his car with his championship shirt in one hand, marker in the other, pretending to be a fan asking for an autograph. he doesnt hesitate, though, he grabs her hand and pulls up, and she gets the hint and scales the car. with absolutely ZERO thought, he dips her and kisses her, and theyre stood in victory lane with confetti falling around them, champagne in his hair, and the love of his life in his arms.

theres a photographer somewhere in the crowd; they catch that scene. the darkness of the sky behind them, the stadium lights being one of the only light sources around, and they catch each piece of confetti in that lens, every person in the crowd, all of the reporters that have backed away to give whoever was photographer the Perfect scene. they capture perhaps one of the most iconic victory pictures to date; the youngest piston cup driver to ever win a cup kissing his girlfriend right after his big win.

its in the RSN magazine, any sports magazine to be frank, and its probably one of their favourite pictures of all time. lightning really wishes he could thank that photographer.

The recent addition to your wardrobe was not the most comfortable one, a bright pink, itchy, annoying cast, a consequence of playing a bit too rough with Peter. Natasha had been beside herself with worry, but you, despite the discomfort, seemed to be taking it in stride, though you were noticeably more fussy than usual.

Bucky, ever the protective father, had taken it upon himself to carry you more than he normally did, to which Natasha had to remind him that it was your arm that was broken and not your legs but he seemed to ignore the reminders. Nat always resourceful, had decorated the cast with stickers of butterflies and stars, trying to make it seem less intimidating for you. Despite their efforts, you still seemed upset by the whole ordeal.

One afternoon, Natasha was trying to coax you into taking a nap, which you blatantly refused since who wants to take a nap when they could be playing?

“Mama no nap! My arm hurt! It sooooo itchy!” You whined and wriggled out of Nat’s arms, you stomped your foot on the ground trying to make a point. “No nap! No nap!”

Natasha sighed and gave in, she knew you wouldn’t sleep anyway. “Alright fine, cranky pants. You better be nice to Mama for the rest of the week now.” Natasha smirked.

Natasha carried you into the Avengers Lounge where most of the Avengers were just doing their own thing. You looked to the side to see your Uncle Steve playing with one of your toys, obviously trying to get your attention. You saw the bright pink cast on his arms and you dropped your stuffed giraffe.

“Uncle Steve!” You shouted excitedly, jumping over to him and looking at his arm. “You got boo-boo toooooo!” You squealed excitedly.

"Hey there, kiddo," Steve said, crouching down to your level. "We are cast buddies now! See?” He smiled and put his fake cast next to your real cast.

"We are twins now!" You giggled, your excitement was too much to contain. “Look, Daddy! Look, Daddy!” You couldn’t help but jump up and down in pure excitement and joyfulness.

Bucky turned towards you and Steve and smiled. “Wow, you guys are just like each other now!” He laughed.

You nodded eagerly. “Just like meee!” You cheered and picked up your sticker sheet, putting a bunch of random stickers on Steve’s ‘cast’. “So pretty.” You smiled.

Bucky and Natasha exchanged amused glances as Steve played along, pretending to examine his "injury" with exaggerated seriousness. You seemed to forget all about your own discomfort, focusing instead on your new game of matching casts with your favorite uncle.

For the duration of the time you had to wear your cast, whenever you felt down about your cast, Uncle Steve was there with his fake one, ready to show you that you weren't alone. Natasha and Bucky watched you and your uncle bond over your shared "injuries," they knew your Uncle Steve would always be there for you.

Rating: 4.5 stars (AUGHHHHHHHH)

Thoughts: Literally straight up a fun time. Not for Our main character but it was for *meee*. It was a really cool plot and really cool set up and the worldbuilding (Literally the worldbuilding was excellent) was excellently done and I grew to love most of the characters (even if i hated most of them at first). Vaguely kind of like the Italian Job movie if it took place in like ancient history and there's only one person who's really competent at his job (like if you squinted).

Also gen gives very much bloodless vhas from rolling with difficulty vibes but literally no one's going to get it except me but if there was ever a modern au gen's got a bad australian accent.

Started off on the slow side but literally so worth it and not bad pacing overall really

the audiobook narrator did a really good job but literally will never hear 'yogurt' the same way.

Spoilery thoughts (There are actual spoilers, ppl be wary im sorry):

Literally exactly the kind of book I wanted at the time. I don't know where to begin to be perfectly honest.

LIterally the build up that Gen's actually from like one of The Most Important Families caught me so off-guard and yet looking back to lines in the book it makes sense (especially the nobility)

Sophos/Sofos (I literally have no clue how any of these names are spelled im so sorry i just listen to it) best boi. Literally will kill anyone who harms him. Would make a terrible leader probs but i'd follow him anyway.

literally cried real tears with the Pol death like NOOOOOOO-

Literally always knew ambiades was a scumbag but chalked it up to normal elitism an pride that is so so everywhere in academia so was still surprised when he was traitor all the way from very beginning

Literally the temple scenes gave me actual chills especially when they met the gods for the first time.

Actually all the exposition was done really well. Like We love the magus for world-dumping all of the things for us and Moreover We Love Gen being like "actually ur wrong here's why."

BUT ALSO THE DYNAMICS BETWEEN EVERYONE SCREAMING

The magus and gen gaining a respect for the other and their positions. Magus being an absolute karen /aff to help gen and get him medical help he needs. Gen absolutely risking his own life over and over to get magus and sophos alive

literally the whole "everyone's secretly actually nobility" ending made me laugh and scream so hard. It's not so out of the realm of possibility that it didn't make sense, but I want to reread with that knowledge and be like heh. heh. heh. Also sophos being the kings nephew and the Heir to sunis is so funny. Like we're going to steal a magic rock to make ur uncle get married so he can have an actual heir and u can be ignored." Like sophos had actual motive to sabatoge and yet my boi did nothing. (although sophos probably would prefer to not be king of sunis)

Literally queen of attolia asking him to be her theif instead and gen responding that he already has a mistress *squeals* its sooooo gooddd (especially after finding out the mistress is actually Edis idk why it makes me laugh sm).

And Eugenides

Someone could really do an essay about the different approaches to find truth and justice between gen, ambiedes, sophos, and magus and even pol because it's very interesting but it's 1am so not doing that rn

the worldbuilding the vibes were 10/10. Screaming. I am currently in the middle of book 2 and so scared

while to me, it really was more of like a.... i-like-him-he-makes-me-feel-safe-i-want-to-hang-out-with-him-more kind of a thing i didn't really think of it as a DATE (not that that would've been a bad idea it simply was not how i thought of it). but to him, the big guy...... well he was caught VERY off guard it was very cute😭😭😭😭😭 for one he just hadn't had anyone ask him out in a hot minute aaaaaand i think deep down he thinks that HE should be the one to ask me out instead he's old like that okay

here's a fake intermission bc i realized i can't really remember how much have i actually talked abt miji like how into detail have i gone before...... well long story short (in case i haven't talked abt it IF I HAVE SORRY FOR REPEATING IT) we are both living in some other european Country, he has lived there for about half a year maybe a bit less when i move in aaand we happen to be apartment neighbors. and so we end up finding solance in one another because well the change is hard aaaand we're both... soggy wet cats lmao

BACK TO THE POINTTTT his ears were burning and he had to clear his throat a good few times which made me say that yk.. you don't have to say yes i was just thinking that you'd maybe like the idea bc i know you like the movie and he was very quick to dismiss the first part and say yes (it does make me a bit happy to see him flustered i cannot lie he stumbled over his words there a little it was very endearing)

don't get me wrong.......... he makes me incredibly nervous too, like the butterflies in the stomach nervous, PLUS I GET NERVOUS ALL ON MY OWN TOOO but i think the fact that he just makes me feel very very safe kind of... overtakes all of that which ends up making me the bolder one lmao

okok so when it finally came down to the actual 'date', he was there first. i am usually the one to arrive everywhere super early btw so seeing him sitting there on one of the small couches a whopping twenty minutes early was very... interesting (i was kicking my feet in my mind i was very giddy). he was wearing like theee most basic clothes he had on one of his big hoodies (he had the hood on but then took it off the moment he saw me) and his big jacket and well . unfortunately for me he looked SOOOOO FUCKING GOOODDD JFC i was just staring at him for a few seconds there lmao i love him sm

i am almost always the one to lead us and that was like that back then and it is like that now,, i lead where we go and he always follows me around without a question. we went to get our popcorn and drinks and he trailed behind me and he held the big cups and then almost had a stroke because i managed to pay for everythingghasdhgfhsgwegfejjgfgha TO ME IT WASN'T A BIG DEALL HE WAS JUST HOLDING THE THINGS HIS HANDS WERE FULL I DIDN'T MIND PAYING I DIDN'T EVEN THINK ABT IT while he was having like a meltdown insidegdfshhfjhsfeegsdfahfhga he's so silly

during the movie nothing Big happened but i do think he liked the way i kept leaning towards him aaaand i think he liked the way i ushered him closer when i wanted to whisper smth to him:33333333 he kept stealing glances at me but this time there was no arm around the shoulder (too early for him) aaaaaaaaaaaaand then after the movie we walked back home together and it was sooooo so so lovely we listened to me ramble and then made some terrible terrible jokes that made me laugh very hard aaaaand it was all just very fun we both had a great time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i think in his mind this did count as a date btw i think this was very important to him even more important than it was to me!!!!!!!!!!!! the idea that he felt giddy too is... making me very happy lmao i want him to be sick over me alwaysssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ANYWAY I THINKKKK THIS IS IT FOR NOW IT REALLY DID TURN INTO A PROPER RAMBLE I'M SORRY I'M SORRY he's my most beloved guy ever i want to dote on him i want to take him on dates i want him to kick HIS fucking feet okay......

another little thing ive noticed that people are so much more comfortable drawing and seeing minimalized characters as older and larger, a few years ago it was fkin twinkopolis with the anthem twink-le twink-le little star but now i see so much more ppl embracing age and other body types and idk it just makes me happy :] like these are natural , they exist , and should be represented too

i miss summer 2022 in general like that was just a good summer for meee also the content the triplets were putting out was so good 😭 like it pains me when i go back and watch it because i get a wave of nostalgia cuz times ain’t the same 😢
