warning: none
words: 2.5k
note: my first connor fic yay! based on this request and honestly it lowkey makes me want to do a whole AU with this theme haha
---
It was a tough decision for you. You were just an 18 year old girl who decided to move out all the way to Chicago to study public relations. You could stay in Michigan but the vision of being compared to your older brothers, Quinn and Luke who also had been studying there, wasnât tempting. You wanted to work on your own brand and name far away from there.
Your parents werenât the happiest when you announced your decision because you were the youngest kid and with your moving to Chicago, it meant that they will be alone without any kids around. Despite the fact, they had your back and fully supported you and understood your point of view. They even helped you to rent an apartment so you donât have to live in a dorm.Â
Quinn, Jack and Luke werenât surprised when you shared the news with them, knowing how much you had been struggling in high school with questions about them and being used by your âfriendsâ in the past only because you had famous siblings. Quinn proposed that you can always move to him in Vancouver but you wanted to be independent and the vision of moving to Canada wasnât something you were craving.Â
The year you arrived in Chicago, Connor started playing in his rookie season for the Blackhawks. In fact, he was your neighbor and lived right across the hall from you. He also moved there without his family and had to be independent. At first, you didnât care about it. You were always saying hello to each other when you two saw each other in the hall but nothing more.
Things changed with time when thanks to your great results in college you got an internship in social media for the Chicago Blackhawks. You were excited and grateful for the opportunity. Your dream always was to work in social media and being capable of doing this in a hockey team when you were raised in a hockey family was incredible. You called your parents to tell them about this and they were proud of you. Finally, your hard work paid off.
In January, you started your internship and quickly became one of the most important people in creating content for social media. Thanks to your young age, new ideas and jumping into trends, the Chicago Blackhawks became one of the best teams in social media. Fans loved the content and people rooting for other teams also found it funny.Â
Connor was 1st overall pick and star of the team so you pushed him to do some of the videos for the social media. He wasnât the happiest because he was shy in front of the camera but you always tried your hardest to make him feel as comfortable as possible. You were also a shy person and you totally understood him. He was delighted to have you as a support and creating content with you wasnât as scary as it was earlier.Â
You and Connor lived in the same apartment building and always were returning from his training or games together. He was more than happy to give you a ride back home. In the first two weeks of your internship, you two bonded and became friends. Both of you had been the same age and lived alone, far away from parents. During roadies, you were staying in Chicago since you had college and many times you received texts from Connor.
They tell me to do this and I donât want to.
Why have you abandoned me?Â
Can you tell them to leave me alone?Â
Promise me that youâll go on the next roadie so I can have support from you behind the camera.
With every message like that, your heart was growing bigger. You didnât know how much of an impact you have on him and feeling comfortable. You wanted to be there for him but you couldnât drop college because Connor was shy. You promised him to talk with the others to leave him alone during away games but it wasnât in your competence to dictate whoâs gonna be on the video.
While Connor was away, you were taking care of his apartment and basically cleaned and cooked for him in your free time. When you entered his place for the first time, you could tell that heâs struggling being alone just like you and you wanted him to feel that he has someone on who he can lay on. You had experience with boys since you had three brothers and knew what to do so he could open up.Â
Connor was more than grateful to have you. At first, he thought that youâre just a social media girl whoâs living in the same building but with time, he saw how much youâre doing for him inside and outside of the work. He wanted to pay you back and always surprised you with flowers and coffee when he knew that you had a rough day in college.Â
These small gestures turned into daily dinners and movies. After games, Connor was taking you out on a dinner to later finish the day with a movie in your apartment. It was a cute but meaningful moment between you two. You started talking more and more, he finally opened up and felt that he has a real friend and is not alone.Â
Both of you were falling for each other. You two had similar personalities and tried to stay out of the spotlight. You were Connorâ biggest fan and he was your rock. Almost every single day you two were seeing each other even if it meant only for 5 minutes. He knew your schedule perfectly and always tried to give you a donut with coffee before you were heading on college. You also knew his schedule and after every roadie, you were at his apartment preparing meals for him, knowing that he must be tired from flying around America and Canada. It was like an unwritten rule between you.Â
When you had been working with the Blackhawks, Connor was more than happy to see you there and was willing to do a content with you. The rest of the team was surprised but no one questioned it. They all thought that itâs because he feels more comfortable around you since you are the same age. It was partially true. He was willing to do content while you were around because he loved to spend time with you.Â
Connorâ teammates and other people working in social media never noticed anything unusual in the behaviour between you two. You two kept the friendship and feeling privately and shared it when only two of you were alone. In March, your internship was over but the team offered you full time work in social media. You were beyond happy for this and couldnât wait for the 2024-2025 season to start so you can work there.Â
When you told this to Connor, he smiled like a kid in a candy store. At first, he was sad that you wonât be around for the next 1,5 months but after he heard that youâll be working there full time, he was the happiest person. You were confident that he was happier about this than you. In that moment, he gained confidence to ask you out on a date. You gladly accepted his invitation and the two of you spent an incredible evening the next day.Â
After the season was over for Chicago, Connor decided to stay there for a little longer knowing that you have exams in May. You were always there for him in his lows and highs and he wanted to do the same for you. He was hanging out in your apartment all the time, even if that meant that he had to watch a tv show while youâre studying. Those silent, cute moments made him realise that he wants you as his girlfriend.Â
Connor started planning a cute date after your exams when he could ask you to be his girlfriend. In the past 5 months, you two shared a lot of moments together and learned a lot about each other. Thatâs why instead of a boring date in a restaurant, he planned a day full of attractions to ask you to be his at the end. He was proud of himself but also scared of your reaction.Â
âSince we're leaving in a couple of days I was thinking that maybe we could spend a day together?â Connor asked you in the middle of a movie that you two had been watching.Â
âBut weâre already spending everyday togetherâ You giggled and saw redness growing on his face.
âYeah but I was thinking about going out, more like⌠exploring the cityâ He replied shyly and you smiled at him.Â
âI would love that, do you have a plan what to do or are we gonna figure it out tomorrow?â You asked excitedly.Â
âI⌠I actually have a plan already but if you want we can change itâ Connor started to ramble and you stopped him.
âWe donât have to, I trust you with your planâÂ
âGreat, umm how about Iâll pick you around 10AM tomorrow?âÂ
âSounds perfectâ You smiled and the two of you returned to watching a movie.Â
Itâs now or never Connor thought.
As Connor promised, he knocked at your door at 10AM. He had flowers in his hand that he bought earlier. He was nervous but he knew thereâs nothing scary in you but he was still overthinking this whole day. You opened the door and welcomed him. He was in awe of how gorgeous you looked in your dress. From the nerves, he kept the flowers in his hand instead of giving them to you.Â
âAre those flowers for me?â You asked shyly.
âYeah, sorryâ He gave you the flowers and you quickly put them in a vase.
âShall we go?â You asked him.Â
âYes, Iâm right behind youâÂ
Two of you left your apartment and went into a parking lot. Connor opened the passenger door for you and you thanked him. All the nerves went out of him when you started talking to him about your summer plans. It felt natural between the two of you. The next 20 minutes you were talking about how you are gonna spend the free months. He stopped the car and opened the door for you.Â
âI know you didnât have breakfast so I thought it would be nice to grab donuts and coffee and go to the parkâ Connor said and you smiled at him.Â
âYou know me too wellâ You joked.
Connor ordered your favorite donuts and coffee and you were smiling all the time standing next to him because he remembered those little details about you. When you two got the order, you walked into a park and sat on a bench while eating and joking. After you finished your breakfast, he stood up and you followed him. For the next hour, you two have been walking around the park with coffee in your hands.Â
When Connor saw that youâre getting tired, he knew itâs time for another attraction. You two went to his car and he drove you to a place that you always wanted to visit but never had time. It was the Museum of Illusion and it was on your bucket list to get here one day. You were surprised that he remembered this detail because you told him about it months ago.Â
You were so excited to go there and Connor was excited for you. For another couple hours you two had been walking around the museum having fun and taking lots of pictures. It was the first time you saw him fully comfortable with taking pictures and you couldnât be happier that he feels safe around you. Smiles couldnât disappear from both of your faces.
It was already 4PM when you two left the museum and you were starting to get hungry. Connor had this already planned and drove you to McDonalds to get food. Again, he remembered that you said to him that this is your guilty pleasure food and you could eat it every single day. When you two got the food, you decided to sit in the car and eat in a parking lot while chatting. This day was already perfect but he had one more thing planned.Â
Now it was the most nervous part for Connor. He booked a boat trip for you two and after it he wanted to ask you to be his girlfriend. The day was perfect and he didn't want to ruin it. He started to overthink this again but your monologue about wanting to adopt a cat brought him back to reality. He was smiling at the thought of you having a cat because he knew you'd be great with him. After 30 minutes, he parked a car and led you to a boat.Â
âYou mentioned how much you miss home and spending days on a boat so I thought we could have a boat evening hereâ He shrugged.
âItâs perfect, I love the ideaâ You hugged him and he swore that he felt butterflies in his stomach.Â
You two walked on the boat and sat here quietly watching the busy city. It was incredible to stop and just relax while enjoying each other's presence. You cuddled into him and he gladly put his hand on you. It was a gentle move but you loved it. You were so in love with him and this day just proved to you that Connor is the guy you want forever. After an hour, you returned to the land and you smiled at him widely.
âThank you for today. It was the best day of my lifeâ You pecked his cheek and saw a blush on his face.Â
âIt was a pleasure for me to make your day better but I need to ask you somethingâ He took a deep breath. âI really like you Y/N and I want you as more than a friend. Would you be my girlfriend?â He asked you and you froze in a spot. A boy that you love wants you. After a couple seconds you threw yourself into his arms.Â
âI would love to be your girlfriend. You mean the world to me and Iâll be more than happy to be yoursâ Connor felt relief when you agreed.Â
âCan I kiss you?â He asked you shyly.
âYou donât have to ask, youâre my boyfriendâ You chuckled and the next thing you felt was his lips on yours. It was a passionate kiss full of emotions and love. You couldnât be happier than today.

Bracelets, a Fields of Mistria Fanfic
March x Gender Neutral Farmer
Based on this bit of dialogue
Gods, this is so fucking stupid.
March stood on the first step of the farmers house fidgeting with the small box he held in his hands. In all honesty, he doesnât full know why heâs here in the first place.
Well, he knows why heâs here, he just doesnât know why he chose to do this specifically. He doesnât know why he chose to make something for them of all people.
From the very moment that overly-cheerful, disgustingly optimisticâŚ
pretty, confident, hardworkingâ
⌠pain in his ass farmer moved to Mistria, they have gotten on his last nerve.
They never know when to quit. Almost everyday without fail, the farmer would bother him. Stopping by the shop to say hi or using his forge to make bars and armor, it was infuriating. The days that they left him alone wereâŚ
Lonely, empty, unsettlingâ
⌠a blessing.
And then once they started venturing into the mines, the gifting started. It was only a few nice pieces of ore here and there, which he appreciated. But then it turned into whole ingots at least once a week. They even found him a piece of Meteorite for him to experiment with! Honestly, if that brain dead idiot thought that they could win him over with shiny pieces of metal, theyâre stupider than he thought.
But then...
âMarch!â The farmer came barreling into his workshop, covered in dirt and debris, âMarch, youâll never believe what I found!â
March stood from his workbench and rolled his eyes, before turning around and stretching a bit, âCanât you see Iâm busy Farmer? What could be so important?â
The farmer deflated a bit and pouted, âCome on, itâs really cool! I think youâre going to love it.â
March just scoffed, âIf itâs another ingot you smithed up, I can make some that are ten times better ya know.â
They shook their head and approached him, âItâs better than anything I could have done, thatâs for sure, but I found it just now in the mines.â
âYeah, I can tell,â March said, looking up and down at their dirtied figure, âWould it kill you to wash up before coming in here, youâre trailing in dirt.â
âSorry, I just couldnât wait to show you!â Their hands were still behind their back, clearly hiding whatever it was they wanted to give him this time.
âWell then stop wasting time and show me!â
Their smile got impossibly larger as they brought their hands to the front of them. The item was still a bit dusty from being excavated, but the shine and luster of it was undeniable.
âNo way,â Marchâs jaw dropped, âIs thatââ
âA perfect copper ore!â The farmer exclaimed, jumping up and down in excitement, âI didnât even know ore could be so perfect, but just look at it!â
March grabbed the ore from the farmers hand and studied it closely, the structure of it is almost crystalline and itâs denser than any piece of copper heâs ever held before, plus if he shines it up a bit, he can almost see his own shocked expression looking back at him.
âIncredible,â he whispered to himself, still staring at the chuck of metal in awe.
âIsnât it?â The farmers voice broke him out of his reverie, âI thought youâd really appreciate having something as nice as this.â
Marchâs head snapped up to look at the farmer, their face sporting a small smile while they watched him admire the ore.
âWhat do you mean?â
âWell, I found two today and the first one went to the museum and I donât have any idea what to do with this one soâŚâ
âYou canât be serious.â
The farmer tilted their head in confusion, âWhy not?â
March sputtered and pushed the ore back into their hands, âWhat do you mean âwhy not?â This is much too nice to just give away!â
âWell itâs not like Iâm just going to put it in my shipping bin and let Balor sell it to whoever will pay the highest price for it. Plus, youâd be able to do much more with it than any other blacksmith that could buy it.â
âButââ
The farmer placed the ore on his workbench, âNo buts, itâs yours now.â
He spent the next day staring at the metal and contemplating what to do with it.
I mean, with something so naturally perfect the possibilities were endless! He could forge a beautiful sword or a glistening shield to display in his workshop to show just how impressive his work is. He could make a new set of tools for Ryis that would last him forever. He could make Reina new cooking utensils to go with the newly renovated inn.
Or he could make something just for them.
It took days to get it just right, one just to sketch out and plan the design, another to make a few test pieces with other, more dull pieces of copper to ensure that everything went smoothly, and nearly three days were spent delicately curving and carving the metal into something beautiful and intricate.
March has no idea why he did it, but he did and now heâs standing on their front porch like a moron wondering if heâs made the right choice or if he should just run back to his workshop while he still can.
âMarch?â
A voice from behind him causes him to nearly jump out of his skin, he turned around slowly and came face to face with the person whoâs been living in his head for the past few weeks.
âWhat are you doing here?â The farmer asked, their flannel tied around their waist instead of around their shoulders, their well defined figure on display, âI mean, Iâm happy to see you of course, but I donât think Iâve ever had you on my farm before.â
March coughed a bit, hoping that the blush he could feel creeping up his cheeks wasnât noticeable, âNo Iâve never been here before. I justâŚâ His voice trailed off, what the hell was he supposed to say!
The farmer climbed the steps to stand next to him, âWell, do you want to come inside? Itâs a bit warm out here, donât you think?â
March just nodded, not completely trusting himself to speak, and the farmer waved at him to follow them in.
Their house was exactly what he expected it to be.
For such a small space, they sure did know how to make the most of it. Even with the bed, the couch, the kitchenette, a carpentry table, and more than a few chests, the house felt cozy and welcoming.
âWow, you can really tell that you live here, Farmer.â
They just laughed while putting things from their backpack into their respective chests, âIâm going to take that as a compliment.â
March watched as they meticulously placed crafting materials, cooking ingredients, artifacts, and foraging items in specific places in each chest. Considering how incredibly busy they kept themself, it made sense that the root of that was a well organized storage system.
They finally finished their task and stood up straight to look at March once again, âWell, welcome to my home. Itâs not much, but Iâm working on it,â They laughed a bit and started walking towards their kitchenette, âDo you want a drink? I can put on a pot.â
âOh, um, Iâm not really a tea person.â
The farmer just smiled, âI know.â
Of course they knew.
âS-sure.â
The farmer gestured towards the couch, telling March to have a seat while they made refreshments.
The bright yellow couch was much comfier than March thought it would be and he found himself getting lost in thought again.
What the hell was he doing? All he came here to do was give the stupid farmer this stupid gift and leave without having to look at their stupid face for long, and now heâs sitting on their fucking couch. Maybe he should have just sent it in the mail.
The couch dipped next to him, alerting him to the farmers presence. They held out a mug for him to grab and he could smell the mixture of chocolate and coffee coming from it.
âOh, you remembered.â
They laughed, âOf course I did, itâs not a hard thing to remember anyways.â
They both took a sip and March had to stop himself from groaning, it was delicious. How the fuck are they so good at everything?
âSo, what brings you to my humble abode?â
Oh right their stupid gift.
March looked at them, their eyes peeking at him over their coffee mug, shining and curious.
âWell, umâŚâ
Fuck this is harder than he thought it would be. His mouth opened and closed a few times while he tried to find the right words to say to them.
They waited patiently for him to gather his thoughts, sipping away at their drink.
March cleared his throat before he started talking, âWell, since youâve moved to town youâve beenâŚâ
A huge help to the communityâ
â⌠more competent than I expected you to be.â
They chucked a bit, âThank you, that is certainly high praise coming from you.â
âDonât let it go to your head, Farmer.â
The soft smile they gave him almost left him breathless.
âI wouldnât dream of it.â
He shifted slightly away from them before continuing, âAnd, youâve been, well⌠yâknow⌠giving me gifts and shit so I wanted toâŚâ
Give you something in return, to tell you how much I appreciate them, how much I appreciate youâ
â⌠make sure you donât think I owe you anything.â
âThey're called gifts March, youâre not supposed to pay me back,â they said with an eyeroll.
He flushed a bit, âWhatever! Either way I donât want to owe you shit so I made you something.â
March set his mug down on the coffee table, pulled the box out from behind his back and handed it to the farmer.
âWhat? You made me something? You didnât have to do that,â The farmer gasped, taking the box from him tenderly.
âWell I did so, do whatever you want with it I donât care.â
I hope you love them.
âCan I..â The farmer looked at him shyly, âCan I open it now?â
March scoffed, âIf you must.â
The farmer set their own drink down and lifted the lid gingerly before pulling out a set of copper bracelets.
March could almost feel his soul leaving his body as he watched them examine the jewelry.
The first two were plain bands, perfectly shiny and glittering in the light. The next was one with rubies set into the metal. The fourth was a band carved to look like vines intersecting and intertwining with each other. The fifth was a delicate chain with four charms on it, a sickle, a hammer, an anvil, and a cow.
âOh my godsâŚâ the farmer whispered, their hands trembling slightly as they held the gift.
Shit they hate it.
March scrambled in his brain for somethingâ anythingâ to say to get the bracelets back. It was a stupid idea anyways, of course they would hate it.
Before he could make a move to snatch them back, he was thrown back onto the arm of the couch as the farmer threw themselves at him and wrapped their arms around his neck.
March sat their frozen, his arms suspended in the air.
What the hell is happening?
He could feel their breath brushing against his neck as they whispered to him.
âTheyâre beautiful.â
It felt like a weight was lifted from his shoulders.
March let out a sigh of relief before letting his arms drop and wrap around the person in his arms.
âYou really like them?â
âAre you kidding?â They pulled away from him to look him in the eyes, their own shimmering with unshed tears, âThis is the best gift anyone has ever given me.â
They moved to sit up and wiped at their eyes, âI donât even know what to say.â
March followed them in sitting up, letting his hands rest at their waist and a small smile to grace his features.
âWell, you could start with a thank you.â
The farmer laughed loudly, a huge grin on their face.
âThank you March, so so much,â they said as they leaned over to rest their head in the crook of his neck.
March tilted his head to rest his cheek against theirs, âOf course.â
Beautiful creatures such as you deserve beautiful things.

Summary: things quickly spiral and Yuuki has enough and cross realizes that (name) knows more than he lets on
đ¸đ¸đ¸đ¸đ¸đ¸đ¸đ¸đ¸đ¸đ¸đ¸đ¸đ¸đ¸đ¸đ¸đ¸đ¸
Yuuki couldn't stop staring at him.
The other Omega.
(Name) Walked with a grace she couldn't even begin to emulate and a poise that made her look like a wild animal and all that made her despise the vampire prince. (Name) Barely acknowledged her, not to be rude but their paths didn't cross very often and when they did he was so fucking kind to her!
"Just because he's an Omega, suddenly he's more important than anyone else!" Yuuki ranted to Sayori who listened patiently, knowing the brunettes love/obsession for Kaname and the sudden competition was driving the poor girl into a spiral. Sayori didn't have the heart to tell her that Yuuki was never even in the race, seeing how Kaname looked at (name) the few times that she saw them... That was a love that could never be faked. "I-I just have to show him that I'm good enough! That I can be a capable wife!"
Sayori didn't say anything but let her continue until the morning bells rang, halting the girls ranting.
(Name) Politely chatted with Aido, not sitting to close to the Alpha and primarily letting the Alpha chat away while Kaname spoke with the teacher,(name) liked Aido as the blond treated him like a genuine friend which was something (name) didn't have much of due to his status. "Thankfully the day students are less crazy in the mornings since they're tired and have to be in class!" Aido cheered and (name) nodded, finding the evening switch to be quite intense and the Omega frankly didn't know what to do with so many people fawning over him.
"(Name)" Kaname called out to his mate, (name) politely saying his goodbyes to Aido before promptly walking to Kaname with an obedience that made the Alpha let out a soft rumble, happy (name) was being good for him; mostly due to the fact (name) wasn't Hungry.
"Are you ready to leave?" Kaname) asked in a whisper, kissing his mates temple and (name) closed his eyes before nodding, exhaustion hitting him in slow moving waves.
The night class never spoke about the fact Kaname and (name) shared a bed, it kept (name)s instincts at bay and calmed him considerably... None of them wanted to deal with him when he was even slightly feral.
"Then let's get to bed ,yes?"
-
"So why is (name) treated the way he is?" Zero asked his adoptive father who sighed "Zero, do you know what a feral Omega is like?" He asked the young alpha calmly, the white haired teen thought for a moment before answering "they're strong, they run in instincts and they could take down an alpha if their instincts were on high Enough alert"
"Good you pay attention in class, now take all that and put that into a vampire who struggles with reality because they're a seer and the only person who can keep them calm is a busy alpha vampire trying to keep his sibling from putting the seer Omega into a spiral" cross was rarely this serious, staring at the other calmly and Yagari blew smoke from his cigarette "(name) is incredibly dangerous but he is incredibly vital, him being here and monitored by not just the night class will keep him and everyone safe"
Zero thought about his mentor and adoptive father's words "but why keep him alive if he's so dangerous?"
"(Name) Can see the future and can predict danger with terrifying accuracy, keeping him on our side is detrimental especially as the vampire royalty has made a treaty with the hunters!" cross smiled at the teen, wanting to calm him down a bit "so, as long as he's with Kaname or calm we shouldn't have problems"
"He must be a monster" zero spat, frustrated at the Omega being treated with such a level of superiority and cross sighed before looking out the window to see (name) walking with the night class "the thing is... Hes innocent, hes... He's just terrified and why wouldn't he? Would you not be terrified if you knew what everyones intentions were towards you? To detect ones emotions and know just how powerful one could be?"
"He lives in a nightmare in his own mind and we can merely bare witness to the events"
-
He could feet the rage, the resentment and the pure acidity of jealously radiate off his sister in law, the two locking eyes and flashes of her intentions and outcomes in the future flickering in this head before it locked onto Kaname protecting him from a rod.
He felt pity for her, he knew how vampiric traditions worked and he knew typically if it was possible, she would be with Kaname but (name) outranked her due to his omegan status...
He couldn't help but feel pity for her, breaking eye contact to continue walking to the night dorms while Kaname walked a bit behind, eyeing his sister with caution and trying to figure out what her next steps were.
Yuuki glared at (name), hands shaking and she hated that she couldn't smell his pharamones due to being a beta, (name) on the other hand smelling the anger radiating off her and scrunched his nose at the smell though to Yuuki it was seen as him looking at her with disgust.
And that's all she needed, pulling out her weapon to strike him down.
She ran full speed at (name) and jumped to strike him, (name) quickly turning and stepping away and letting Kaname step before him and block her attack. Yuuki was stunned at her brother, anger flooding her body and tears filled her eyes.
"That is enough!" Kanames voice bellowed through the courtyard, causing Yuuki to shrink back at the sound and (name) to fidget, a soft whine escaping his lips. "Yuuki, you were raised better than this" his voice firm and the girl glared at her brother teary eyed "you are old enough to keep your emotions in check, these childish tantrums are unbecoming and frankling pathetic, get your act together because no one cares to entertain these delusions!" Kaname would not tolerate his sister's blatant attack and if it weren't for the dwindling numbers of pure bloods, he would have struck her down where she stood.
He loved his sister deeply but this had to end.
"Whats going on?" Cross spoke hurriedly while Yagari and Zero followed behind, trying to assess the situation "Yuuki attacked (name), well attempted!" Aido called out and Ichigo checked in on said Omega who was mumbling things with his eyes closed much to the concern of everyone but Yuuki who was confused and a bit unsettled by the Omega "Kaname, take (name) back to the dorms will you?" Cross had to have a conversation with the youngest kuran-cross.
-
Kaname held (name) close, walking him briskly to the dorms while (name) whispered things that only Kaname could hear "her hearts made of fire and Brimstone.... Her impatience will cause her to fall from the tree..." (Name)s words barely made sense but Kaname put it together enough to know a problem when he seen one. "Let's rest now, love" he ushered him up to their room where (name) looked at kanames hand and the burn mark from the weapon "her fire burned you, my love" (name)s voice grew colder, the polite tone in his voice vanishing and at that moment Yuuki Kuran was an enemy to (name).
Kaname knew it was only a matter of time before (name)s instincts caused him to lash out, he would need to satisfy the omegas base instincts to settle him before (name) caused problems for the Alpha.
Oh the double edged sword of having a hopelessly in love mate...
"None of this..." Kaname scolded (name) lovingly and pulled him into a kiss, trying to distract him from the rage that was filling the others being "behave for your alpha" (name) enjoyed the kisses, his rage subsided to soak in the attention the other was giving him "but--"
"Shh" Kaname bit his own lip, blood staining the alphas bottom lip and immediately captivating (name) who wanted a taste.
And falling for Kanames tricks like an obedient dog.
But Kaname knew (name) wouldn't forget such insolence from Yuuki, he knew the Omega had cards up his sleeves that he had yet to share with his alpha, did he know of the attack? It would explain the step back...
He would have to gently interrogate (name) once the other calmed down, knowing if he didn't get this in check that Kaname would be an only child.
-
Cross remembered when he first met (name), the tragedy of someone so sweet slowly go mad due to the powers gifted to them from generations before, it was slight things that he noticed with (name), the mood swings and jumping from fully lucid and passive to existing in almost a dreamlike existence.
And now Yuuki made an enemy of (name), an Omega who was trying to find the fox in his henhouse but not knowing he was his own fox.
For Yuukis own safety, he had to put her under house arrest, he knew this was just teen jealously and she would realize what she did but till then, (name) was to be kept far away from her.
"She's furious but she's safe" Yagari said softly, having locked her in her old bedroom "I can't believe she would do something so rash and--"" she's a scorned lover even if that loves one sided" Yagari calmed the man "only (name) would have seen it"
Which was something that made them pause.
"(Name) Would have seen this, why didn't he say anything?"
But they subconsciously knew why.
(Name) Wanted a fight.

Ok I need to word vomit about show Lucy Carlyle as opposed to book Lucy Carlyle. Specifically her wardrobe. Here's a masterpost about the character descriptions in the books, but here's the long and short of it. In the books, Lucy has 3 described outfits:
1. skirt, leggings, padded parka (44) 2. pink and yellow nightie (145) 3. coat, roll-neck sweater, short dark skirt, leggings (169)
Granted, this appears to be just the first book so things may change with her wardrobe later in the series. (Personally I consider her wardrobe in the books to be a symptom of 'adult man writes teenage girl protaganist' syndrome) But in the show there are some notable changes I noticed that I đŞđđ¸đťđŽ.
Firstly: Her pants. First, pants! She's actually wearing pants to jobs instead of leggings. Considering how much physical activity is required, it never made sense to me that she wore leggings and a skirt to hauntings. The fabric of leggins is too thin so they wouldn't be very warm. Second, a skirt? Lucy is a very practical character, it makes no sense that she would wear something that could get caught on something or grabbed.
But in the show?
Tactical pants.
The fabric is visibly thick and stiff, a lot like paramedic uniforms. (I'm most familiar with those so there might be better examples) Look at the thick waist, good for possibly having multiple belts or just the way the rapier hangs. I don't see any belt loops but that could be for quick belt release just in case. And the double zip-closed pockets are amazing for keeping gear secure and easily accessible, even if Lucy doesn't seem to be using them. She's probably wearing specifically tactical agent pants. God I love her pants so much, I need a pair.
Second: The jacket. In the books a padded parka or her coat are all very practical choices. But I understand costume designers want their main female character in more appealing-looking clothing or multiple outfits in important scenes for marketing purposes. And I LOVE the bomber jacket.
Firstly, it looks like insulated leather and the blue bits are wool. This is perfect because that gives her a fashionable but practical and warm jacket. The jacket being warm is important because of how often there are temperature drops on jobs, so she needs something to keep her warm. The leather makes it more durable so things thrown by visitors have less of a chance of hitting her. Wool is water repellent and leather is waterproof which in my brain means that ectoplasm wouldn't seep into the fibers and would mean it would have a harder time getting to her skin. Normally I don't like a cropped jacket BUT with how her rapier and other gear sits on her body, a cropped jacket makes all her stuff more easily accessible.
A few smaller details but I love how she has a thick, durable leather belt that would actually be good for holding all her gear. I also really like how she's wearing a knit sweater. Again, she needs to be warm on jobs and it was smart to layer underneath so you can still see the amazing jacket.
I love how the costume designers for the show actually took Lucy's personality into account when making her wardrobe. She has a short temper, she's no-nonsense. So they made her the most practically dressed for her job. It's incredible.

People in fandoms really need to let go of canon pairings being endgame.
First off, a disclaimer: I am not saying you canât like canon pairings. Obviously. I love a lot of canon ships in tons of different fandoms. This is not me saying you canât ship them or me attacking them so please take more than two seconds to understand what Iâm saying before jumping me.
With that out of the way (rant below the cut):
It is actually so frustrating how people cling to canon pairings like theyâre the only valid ships to ever exist.
Iâm bringing this up specifically because of the new Noxus trailer that came out yesterday. Iâve already seen the absolute warzone that itâs becoming on TikTok with people shouting about how âKatarina has a boyfriend!!! Sheâs straight!!!â in response to literally any mention of liking the character or shipping her with someone else.
So to the people who think that a character having a Canon partner means that every other ship is wrong: hate to be the one to break this to you, but itâs not actually a reason to invalidate other ships.
Iâm gonna bring up the Timebomb vs Lightcannon debate.
Timebomb shippers have been incredibly aggressive towards any Lightcannon shippers, and are so quick to say Lightcannon wouldnât work because itâs not canon. Iâd like to remind you all that canon doesnât mean people canât ship Lightcannon. Timebomb being canon doesnât make it immediately better or higher than Lightcannon. The air of superiority that so many canon shippers have over fanon shippers is completely unwarranted. Your ship is not immediately better because they are canon.
And hereâs the thing: I donât even like Lightcannon myself! Iâm very much a Timebomb shipper. But just because I prefer one pairing over the other doesnât mean that Lightcannon is a bad ship. I can recognize that, despite my own dislike for it, people are entitled to their own interpretations of the characters and their relationships to one another.
I get how easy it is to fall into the mindset of âMy pairing is canon, so therefore it is the only correct one and everyone elseâs is wrong.â But at the end of the day, itâs not a reason why your ship is better. It doesnât immediately make you more correct. It doesnât make every other ship bad. There are tons of canon ships that are downright awful, badly written, or rushed. To be canon is to simply be the creatorâs preferred pairing when creating their story. Itâs nothing more than that.
People have been obsessing over non canon ships since fandomâs creation. Hell, fandom as a concept itself started because of Kirk x Spock shippers way back when.. Iâd say that makes fanon pairings pretty important, donât you think?
Anyways this once again is very common sense, but Iâll repeat that Iâm not trying to attack or insult anyone regardless of where you stand on this argument.

have you seen the kamimura lore drop and what are your thoughts?
ohbmy god this couldâve been so embarrassing cause i hadnât seen it yet and was so confused as to what you meant so I was planning on just yapping about kamimura in general but then I saw it LMAO UM I WAS SO HAPPY CAUSE KAMIMURA CONTENT!!!!! KAMIMURA LORE!!! AND THEN SO FUCKING INCREDIBLY SAD FROM IT LIKE....THAT'S GORE... THAT'S GORE OF MY COMFORT CHARACTER.... um yeah I have work for law to do but I got too into reading the lore drop so lets talk about it! (I will get to my work after trust) spoiler warning for chapters 1-3 and tetro typical trigger warnings!!! take care of yourself!!
I am not going to cover the ableism portion or too much of the diagnosis/hospital parts because I am not personally disabled and would like to let other disabled people talk about it, so i'll leave the rest of the conversation to others in the community!
also i took notes while reading it to organize my thoughts like usual (im so bad at putting words together well). some of these are kinda funny so here are some highlights lmfao
alright, now lets actually be serious.
firstly, I'm so glad that kamimura at least had a good childhood. I think it really shows in the way he interacts with the tetro pink cast that he was a sociable and happy kid! my mom actually teaches preschool so shes taught me a lot about early childhood psychology (shout out to my mother guys!!!!!). one of the biggest takeaways I've had from her is that the first five years of one's life are the most important in development! that's what Montessori programs keep in mind and throughout preschool and early kinder, they take time to establish learning through play; a lot of people have the misconception that letting kids play at school is just letting them mess around, but it's crucial in building their skills! kids learn to socialize with others and to problem solve; that foundation is very important for everything else moving forward in life! I could rant about how preschools need to utilize this more, esp in the American education system, but I digress. my main point goes to something I (and a couple other people I'm not original in this LMAO) have mentioned before about how it makes more sense out of hasegawa and kamimura, that they'd kill off kamimura because he had other people. kamimura, despite having further and further cut himself off from the world right till the end (until the kg at least), still managed to make meaningful connections, like tamba and hayashi, even if they weren't like ideal. the way he approaches tamba is very caring in a way that can seem like it's not, yk? likely it stems from his trust issues, it's scary to put your genuine real feelings out there, so hiding them with some snide remarks is easier. luckily, tamba has a similar approach so hey. shout out tamba n kamimura you will always be special to me.
anyways, its both so amazing and so heartbreaking that his parents were so loving and supportive, but died too soon. I do wonder about the role of attachment in this case; like specifically in babies/toddlers, they get attached to their parents usually because that's the first person they see, the first to take care of them. kamimura was able to get that love and support from his parents, even when it got so much harder and the days in the hospitals got longer. so having it all be taken away when you're NINE? that's obviously gonna destroy you, and that leads to his trust issues and isolation. he was able to thrive still as a young child because he had his parents to support him! so when that's all gone, how else are you supposed to cope?
yeah fuck you family friend, that was brutal. I cant even imagine coming home from school to find your parents absolutely desecrated. the day of his parents death beginning the routine of staying locked in his room.... oh my god like what if I cried (I did). that probably changed the way he thought about his room; his room was an escape from the horrors of the outside world. if he just stayed in the room, he wouldn't have to experience the fucked up world. it became a habit. EUGAHHD I'm in shambles.
after the murder of his parents, it's understandable that it shook kamimura and his aunt to their core. that was a violent murder (by a man who was literally just rejected romantically.... its so fucking upsetting that that is a common crime). his aunt wasn't even ready to have kids so having the responsibility of taking in kamimura must've been a lot. In regards to homesick, despite the very clear distance in their relationship, kamimura really seems to appreciate her being there, even if it was very distanced; she was still an important part of his grieving process and his whole life honestly.
oh boy here we go. isao when I catch you istg..... sorry that's an exaggeration, likely this was from a societal disgust, yk just homophobia from the world, so I cant really blame this kid too much.... but we still have beef. god, this was one of those actually crushing crushes, hm. it's so fucked up; someone who was starting to get kamimura a bit out of the dark space that was his life, giving him something to enjoy and be happy about! and all of that was just thrown away because kamimura was vulnerable and shared his feelings. not having your feelings returned can already be devastating, but this? the spread of rumors, the bullying, the losing his one friend? it's like the world wants to torture him omfg. here the trust issues become worse; those who loved him leave, those who he loved leave. everyone just leaves, so what's the point?
this explains his relationship with hasegawa, and the issue after trial 1. it had to have felt way too familiar; telling someone he was fond of vulnerable information, only for it to be told to a bunch of people he never wanted in his fucking business. however, I think the reason why they made up rather quickly in clean up crew (which btw I watched w my friend earlier today bc I got them into tetro........ god I love that episode) is hasegawa's response. hasegawa, unlike isao, is remorseful, he CARES. hasegawa even shares something personal to him, about his own loss.
I think this also changes the scene of hasegawa coming out a bit. before, he was rejected by isao because he was a homophobic douchebag. but in the student spotlight, hasegawa casually says he's not into girls. while its funny thinking that kamimura was having some gay panic then lmao, I think actually it was probably processing that in a confused comfort, not exactly because his feelings could be reciprocated, but for this; hasegawa was so comfortable with coming out as gay, so comfortable with the concept, unlike isao. if kamimura confessed his feelings to hasegawa, and were (somehow) not reciprocated, he likely still wouldn't have ran away. of course, with kamimura's trust issues, he probably wasn't confident in that assumption, but hasegawa is not the kind of person to drop someone because they confessed to them. he would've kept the person that had become so important to him. and because of that maybe, just maybe, kamimura would've said what he really wanted to say if the interview had happened before woodshop.
once he's on his own and moves out, he no longer has someone reminding him to do things, so with no motivation to simply live, he ends up staying locked in his house like we've seen before. what's the point in anything? when that kind of spiral hits you, and you don't have other people present in your life to keep doing, how would you ever stay motivated?? I know it was a really informal post, so I might be going insane trying to add this to the analysis, but the repetition of 'but life goes on' I think really solidifies the importance of a support system. when things are difficult, the world never just stops, it keeps going despite your struggle. but having people who care about you around you can help make each day easier, they can help 'slow down time' if you will. kamimura has gone through an amount of stress no one should have to face, but people around him could have made it easier on him by being there. that's the tragedy of tetro.
it's especially tragic that at the very end, right before the kg, he was taking his own life.
(plot wise, I need to know what y'all theorists think of this bc I have ideas but i need to finish the staffside logs before I can even actually consider my thoughts lmfao.)
sorry to be captain obvious on a majority of this post lol but gosh wow. I really loved that we got this, it was so much information I am kinda stoked despite basically all of it being depressing as hell. tetro has really become an inspiration for me and writing, I am constantly so impressed by von's writing and it's given me perspective on how to approach writing as a whole. i feel as though this gave me so much perspective on kamimura himself as a character. some of this just confirmed my ideas already, but it strikes me as something so human just learning all of this. when I, or anyone really, first meet people, I only know surface level things, yk cause I don't know them. but then I start talking to them, and I learn about different things that have happened to them, how they feel about certain issues or what they're doing on a day to day basis. you can never know everything of course, but when you discover new parts of someone, it makes them more complex and they don't fit the idea you had of them before because people are complex!! and that's the beauty of writing, capturing humanity! the impact of each character, esp kamimura, has been so beautifully done, I'm just constantly moved as the story progresses.
thank y'all sm for reading my excuse to talk about kamimura, this was A LOT of blabbing I'm so so sorry but I hope you enjoyed haha! :)

Hi, Shi! So, I saw your post about white saviours in the community and I wanted to ask about the Judaism one specifically. I am not white but nor am I Jewish, in ethnicity or religion, but I was also told that demonolatry spreads harmful ideas about Judaism. Because of that, I kind of stepped back from my demonolatry research for a moment. But your post did get me thinking. I guess I'm kind of just asking for clarification. Is it okay for me to practice demonolatry as a non-Jewish person or not? Sorry for the super long ask. Thank you, love your blog!
Okay, this is a kind of complex topic.
Demonolatry is the practice of worshipping demons. This can apply to any demon not just those with English names. There are people who worship the demons mentioned in Islam just as much as there are those who worship those with Jewish and Latin names, and thereâs a ton of overlap.
The concept of âdemonâ can only exist if you conceive of some kind of supernatural divide between Gods and spirits. Many demonolaters consider all spirits including Gods to be âSpiritsâ; the distinction is not important and doesnât have any real meaning. Itâs rare to hear of demons in religions or spiritualities that do not have a dualistic philosophy, you donât hear about Hindu demons often for example. And the word âdemonâ in English comes from the Greek âdaimonâ actually referred to any spirit or divine being. Pinpointing what is and isnât demon, daemon or spirit is a matter of perspective.
The idea that you can only work with demons that have Hebrew names if you are a Jew is one that literally doesnât make grammatical sense.
If you are a practicing Jew or hold an Abrahamic theology, to worship or revere any demon would be a violation of your theistic laws. Itâs a sin, a big one. Every deity, spirit, God/Goddess from every other religion or belief is a demon to you because you believe there is only one true God. That means Norse, Greek, Egyptian, etc. deities are also considered to be demons.
Because of this theology, every time that people of Abrahamic religions (Christians, Catholics, Jews, Muslims) encountered pagans who worshipped other Gods, they were demonized. Aphrodite/ Astarte became Astaroth, Phosphorus became Lucifer who then became Satan, Cerberus became Naberiusďżź, and so on and so on.
Itâs incredibly important to remember that just because a name is written in a certain language, Hebrew for example, that does not directly imply that the deity is closed to the religion of Judaism. Not all people who spoke Hebrew were Isrealites, and not every spirit that was described by them was closed to them. Lilith for example was a deity/spirit that was recognized by multiple groups of people before the Israelites existed as a definitive and monotheistic group. Lilith was described by the Sumerians for example, her strongest surviving name and archetype is that which was described by the Jews because the Jews themselves survived and the Sumerians did not.
Most demonic names you will encounter will either be written in Latin, English, or Hebrew, not because these demons are closed to those cultures but because their documentation was only ever really considered legitimate when it was done by the followers of Yahweh. This is one of the major effects of colonization in general. If I as a Phoenician pagan say that Astarte is kind and beautiful, that doesnât matter to any Roman Catholic. If I as a Catholic say that Astaroth is a perverted demoness who tricks men into demonic sex, the church might actually listen and write that down. Us 1000 years in the future may look at that name and assume Astaroth is a Roman demon and not a Phonecian Goddess who was described by Roman people and documented in Latin.
We speak English, so the demons that are accessible to us are usually recorded from the Abrahamic religions that speak English- Christianity. Our demons are not cosmologically âChristianâ nor necessarily have anything to do with the Christian God specifically (Lucifer is a Roman deity and would have had no biblical interactions or connection with YHWH according to their origins). But Christians gave them names and we use those names for the sake of consistency and to reduce confusion across languages. Many times, the original names have been lost and the infernal aspect and name is all that remains. It is the lifeâs work of many Demonolaters to restore their deitieâs cult to its glory, to discover these dead names or to ensure that the surviving name⌠survives.
There are a select few demons whoâs names originate in the Jewish tradition, Azazel for example, was the scapegoat of the Isrealites who then went on to command the Watchers who became the fathers of the Nephilim. But these demons arenât necessarily considered to be closed to Judaism- again, because no Jew is ever going to reach out to a demon before the big GOD himself. There is no theological reason why Azazel would only recognize Jewish or Christian people. If you acknowledge Azazel as the scapegoat and use that name, you are referencing his archetype as it was described by the Isrealites. Likewise if you use the name Lilith and consider her to be Adamâs first wife, you are also using her archetype as she was described by the Jews. But that doesnât mean that Lilith herself is considered to be a sacred figure within the religion of Judaism any more than Aphrodite is. Theyâre all demons. There is only one God.
Thereâs a stronger argument to be made for the big three Jewish angels - Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael, being closed to the Jewish religion because they literally are the angels patroned to the people of Israel and they are majority involved in the actual worship of their God- although I donât really consider them to be closed either because, according to their theology, they would protect any human being created by God (which would be everyone).
The thing that you actually need to consider is if the deity is:
1. Culturally tied specifically and only to the people inside that closed religion- Demons were said to fuck with everyone, all of humanity, not just Jews. The Wendigo was a culturally significant creature that specifically targeted the Indigenous peoples of Turtle Island.
2. Intrinsic to the actual act of worship/ practicing itself- No practicing Jew incorporates Lilith or any demon into their prayers in the way they might with Archangel Michael.
3. Conceived of by the culture itself- Lilith is far older than Judaism and they do not claim to have conceived of her, whereas Michael was literally created by the Isrealites and was always said to act in the best interest of Israel as a nation.
4. Is revered and considered sacred- If I call Lilith or Belial nasty little whores, no jew is going to flinch, they probably agree. If I even speak the name of their God which is considered to be so sacred that it should not even be said in prayer, thatâs insanely offensive. If I use the Tetragrammaton or wear it frivolously, someone is going to call me out.
Many western occultists have certainly appropriated sacred things from other cultures, ESPECIALLY from Judaism. Rather than admit their clear inspiration they bastardized the names and essentially stole incredibly important spiritual concepts (Qabalah). As much value is there is in the Qliphothic tradition it is also majorly appropriated from Jewish mysticism which is supposed to be knowledge closed to specific Rabbis. Thatâs why Iâm not the biggest fan of people like Aliester Crowley.
This doesnât mean to say that you canât learn about anything Jewish, or Indigenous or Muslim etc. I try my best to always learn from people who are actually of the faith and not asshats who try to take the culture out of the practice. Some things genuinely are sacred and should not be appropriated, I donât think that demons in general are one of those things.
Itâs also important to remember that practices and deities arenât always synonymous.
The Loa sprits of Voodoo religions are closed because they are ancestral spirits specific to the people in that culture. I canât invoke my Haitian friendâs great great great grandmother and expect her to do my bidding. I canât invoke the ancestral spirits of the Indigenous peoples of America and expect it to recognize me. I canât even pronounce those names.
Hoodoo being closed to the black community is due to Hoodoo being not only a practice, but a survival mechanism of the black slaves who were imported into America during the slave trade. It was the blending of African spirituality with the assimilated Christianity of their masters. But theologically, most black people who practice Hoodoo have a predominantly Abrahamic faith, with belief in the Bible (although usually an alternate version) and belief in the one true God. You cannot practice the act of Hoodoo if you do not have the context of your experience as black person and the unique familial/ancestral relationships and knowledge they possess.
Likewise, you cannot practice Native American spirituality, or smudge with white sage because you do not have any experience or context living as an aboriginal in this land. Due to ⌠yknow, colonization and genocide, most aboriginal tribes have opted to keep their practices extremely closed and sacred. I couldnât even do it if I wanted to because I donât even know where to start, I would have to be taught by the people they have elected to know this sacred practice.
You cannot be a practicing Jew if you are not initiated into the religion. Working with these fringe spirits is not nearly the same as appropriating the closed Jewish practice. What I and other demonolaters do is not even remotely close.
Demonolatry is not organized, itâs a self actualizing practice. Sure we have priests and priestesses, but we usually operate in cults.
I donât know how to explain the irony in this take because if demonolaters and outcasts donât work with and worship these spirits ⌠literally no one will. The left hand path is crooked for a reason, alternative subcultures are alternative for a reason. The cults of Phosphorus and Lilith have never been as big as they are now. For these fringe deities to have survived so long and somehow even entered the mainstream is honestly incredibly impressive lol.
People who are unconcerned with being outcasted from Abrahamic theology arenât going to stop practicing with their demons because religious people think itâs bad. Iâm already practicing witchcraft. I already donât believe in monotheistic theology, and thereâs an entire rainbow of other things I do that are unacceptable to Judaism, Christianity and so on. The thing I care about is not disrespecting the actual culture and the things that are truly important to them.
You wonât really catch me wearing crosses, referencing Catholic practices, or talking about my practice in reference or opposite to Christianity or Judaism. I donât defile Jewish or Christian traditions or bastardize their teachings. My practice is not the invert of their doctrine. Itâs a completely separate and individual practice and philosophy.
This is LONGER THAN I MEANT IT TO BE
TLDR: No, demonolatry is not antisemitic.
It can be antisemitic if you happen to be antisemitic and many antisemitic people have historically ruined the fun for the rest of us (thanks Crowley)
But no, practicing Demonolatry does not make you racist. Being a pagan also doesnât mean you hate religion.

I love your writing SOOO much. Could you do how the gang acts around kids? Like babysitting? Tysm!
đĄđ¨đ° đđĄđ đ đđ§đ đđđđŹ đđŤđ¨đŽđ§đ đ¤đ˘đđŹ [đĄđđđđđđ§đ¨đ§đŹ]
đ/đ§: I thought this was such a sweet concept omg i love it.
Darry Curtis:
Darry is incredibly good with kids; heâs grown up with two younger brothers heâs had to look out for his whole life, so looking after children and babysitting comes naturally to him. Heâs incredibly patient and always happy to help out, trying his hardest to balance his time so that the kid heâs looking after gets the right amount of attention. He is very responsible, always making sure the kid is safe, that they have everything they need, that theyâve done their homework if they have it, but he also has a soft spot. Sometimes youâll catch him letting the kid climb all over him, telling them stories, and joining in their silly games when he gets the chance.Â
Sodapop Curtis:
Soda is every kidâs ideal babysitter. Heâs fun, heâs entertaining, but he can also be incredibly responsible when he needs to be. If youâre babysitting, the child is instantly drawn to Soda, and he matches their energy perfectly, joining in with their games and making them laugh. However, he isnât the best when it comes to discipline and sometimes lets the kids get away with more than they should, which is where you, more often than not, need to step in. Sometimes it feels like babysitting two kids, but you canât be upset with him because he manages the chaos so well.Â
Ponyboy Curtis:
Pony is a little more awkward around kids and unsure when it comes down to babysitting. Heâs a lot more quiet and level-headed, settling for calmer activities to keep the child entertained. Heâll draw with them, help them with their reading, and will also help them with schoolwork depending on their age. If the kids are particularly rowdy, he might struggle a bit at first, but it wonât take him long to warm up to them, and soon heâll be dragged into their games and will be playing along, helping build up big, dramatic storylines with his more than creative imagination.Â
Johnny Cade:
Much like Pony, Johnny is a little unsure at first, not wanting to say or do the wrong thing. Heâs never had any experiences with younger kids, and he hasnât exactly had the best role models, but when the kids start gravitating towards his calm personality, he relaxes a little. Heâll sit with them and play along with action figures, going along with storylines and listening to all the stories they have to tell like theyâre the most interesting and important things in the world. Heâs incredibly good when the child is upset, knowing exactly how to calm them down, and doesnât complain when they cling to him for comfort.Â
Dallas Winston:
Babysitting is Dallyâs worst nightmare, and he doesnât enjoy it a single bit, only sticking around because you insist. Unfortunately for him, kids tend to be fascinated by his cool demeanour, and while he may come across as scary at first, they quickly warm up to him when they catch you scolding him for being rude. If they were to climb all over him, heâd grumble and half-heartedly push them away, wanting nothing to do with their games. However, he can be surprisingly protective over the kids, and if they were to get hurt, heâll defend them whilst keeping that slightly rough attitude. âHey, kid, look at me. You wanted to climb that tree, and you fell, man. Thatâs on you. Just⌠donât do it again.âÂ
Steve Randle:
Steve is the fun babysitter. Heâs all about burning off the kidâs energy, running around with them and playing games until they crash. Heâll let them suggest games, and heâll laugh along with every joke and story. Sometimes, just to give you a break from babysitting, heâll show the kid his car, teaching them about all the parts and letting them sit behind the wheel. However, he also has a stern side and can enforce rules when theyâre really necessary. He isnât afraid to put his foot down and is pretty good at keeping the kid in control.

Chilchuckâs wife and family - Facts, theories and headcanons
I want to keep this as a sort of masterpost on Chilâs family situation if I can, but if we get a lot of information on it (in the additional content that Kui is gonna make) that renders this more or less useless I probably wonât update this anymore. If you find other crumbs of information or I've said anything factually incorrect please do tell me! I'm planning to edit this as we go since I want to compile most if not all of the information and pages we get about this topic on here, and if I just wait to post it perfection paralysis will nip this in the bud. It focuses a lot on Chilchuck and Chilchuck's wife relationships, but the daughters and Chilchuck's own parents and siblings are talked about as well.
CW/disclaimer: This post talks about messy family dynamics and such, thereâs no outright abuse Iâm implying anywhere, but alcoholism and neglect are mentioned and discussed. Iâm not here to demonize anyone! I love every character involved and I just want to theorize about the topic as a layered issue that involves complex characters. Also, I try to use very transparent language as to when Iâm citing or analyzing canon information and when Iâm giving a personal interpretation or headcanoning.

Letâs start with the facts, shall we?
Timeline and circumstances
So, we see that Chilchuck and his wife are childhood friends, and they married at 13 years old and had two children in that same year. Since half-foots reach the age of maturity at 14, they seem to be what we'd call teen parents. It's a bit debatable though, since Laios says the age of maturity for tallmen (humans) is 16 instead of 18 or even 21, so what's considered to be the age of maturity is a cultural thing and isn't fully reliable when we want to compare to our irl understanding and what developmental stage it perfectly aligns with. Also, during the succubus chapter Chichuck says that his daughters were all now of age to be independent, and Chilchuck's wife leaves to live with Flertom, which would mean that Puckpatti was independent at age 10 and lived away from home as well (since she's the third/last daughter). Ah yes another interesting thing to note is that we donât know the pregnancy periods for the races, since Meijack and Flertom were born the same year. It could be tight timing or it could be something else, but I donât think theyâre twins, they keep talking about them being the oldest and the middle child, them being twins is definitely the sort of thing that would get mentioned.
Him starting working on the island notably happens just one year before his wife leaves him. I don't remember the other instances of him mentioning it though I feel like it happened, but since he started working at the Island's dungeon, working as a dungeon diver and then forming the half-foot guild, that probably means he started being away for longer periods of time and having a less reliable schedule on when he'd be coming back home. It is said that he went back home somewhat regularly iirc, though he usually ends up sleeping at the half-foot guild quarters. I'm not sure if Kahka Brud is also where he lived with his family, or just since he rented someplace new after she left him. He and his timeline state that he was born in a small village "northeast of the island", which he left at 14 one year after being married, but it isnât stated where they go after so itâs unsure how far his home was from the island if it wasnât in Kahka Brud. We donât know when his father died so if that factors in to him leaving his village we have no clue.
Chil also says that he hasnât seen or spoken with his wife nor daughters since the incident, which would mean he's gone 4 years without contact with his family during the events of canon. I don't remember if Chilchuck is said to exchange letters with his daughters, beyond the initial one from Flertom saying her mother was with her, so I've been assuming he hasn't.
He also says "For about ten years Iâve been travelling to dungeons in various areas and doing work" which considering heâs turning 29 that year would mean he started around 19 years old? The panel also gives details what sort of work heâs been doing. Either way itâs confirmed that Chilchuck travels for his work a lot.
In addition, since Chilchuck has the seal of approval of the bicorn + says so himself, he has always stayed faithful to his wife. So that means that unless he's had previous adventures before he was 14 and got married, he's never dated anyone else in his life, nor had romantic or sexual encounters/experiences with others in his 16 years of marriage right up to canon (year 514). I feel itâs safe to say that itâs implied that during all these years starting from when they were married, Chilchuck's wife was a housewife whose main job was taking care of the kids and the house.
Marcille's take on what happened is unreliable, as Kui even takes the time to directly say so in the Adventurer's Bible, so I don't want to use it as a baseline even if it offers some insight on what could have happened (her feeling out of place, leaving to test his love, etc etc).
What Chilchuck says seems to be accurate though since it pertains to his perspective of the events! Unlike how Marcille's theory flows, Chilchuck was aware that something was off before she left since she "suddenly fell into a bad mood".
Piecing everything together, my theory: Chilchuck and his wife were childhood friends and have always always sort of danced around of each other, the classic movie love story with childhood sweethearts, until they ultimately confessed and got together. While dating, Chilchuck's wife becomes pregnant and they're both unequiped to deal with the situation but decide to marry, either a bit forced in order to cover it up or hopeful to make the best of it. They make it work as they can and Chilchuck works to provide for the family while she takes care of the home and the kids, which means that even though he's not a deadbeat father (he cares, he was at least a bit involved in their lives and raising them since for example he knows how to braid hair after all) he ends up being rather absent from home. It only gets worse over the years, especially when Chilchuck starts working further and further away from home and coming home less often, and since Puckpatti left home Chilchuck's wife is alone at home most of the time, never knowing when Chilchuck would be coming and if to prepare the table for two instead of one, or even if he'd be coming back at all since his work is dangerous. The humdrum and lifestyle would get to her, they've grown into different people in these 10 years of marriage and she doesn't feel the spark or feels valued & seen anymore, so she leaves. He feels confused and betrayed which turns into anger so he doesnât try to reach out and mend things, and with the way he says theyâre estranged and he moves away I think heâs avoiding his family somewhat.
Possible strains on the marriage
Tfw all your daughters are independent and your husband is gone to work almost all the time and he barely even tells you that he loves you, is there even a reason to stay together anymore? Every day itâs just you and an empty house and chores to do, wondering if you have to cook for one or for two today.
Alright itâs analysis and theorizing time! Although there are more facts down in this post if you care about Chilchuck's wife's appearajce, Chilchuck's parents & siblings or the kids, the essential facts so to speak were all in the first part.
We don't see Chilchuck showing any discontent with his wife through the manga so I'm assuming that he was content in his marriage, happy with his wife, and with how he stayed faithful to her even in the 4 years after she left (and never stopped calling her his wife. Which also shows a weird stubborn attitude since he wasnât planning on reaching out to her and mend things but Iâll put aside the possible entitlement/coping mechanism for another time) I think he truly loved her and still does. Since she left him and not the reverse, I'm putting a lot of emphasis on his wife's side of things. Especially since we do see how Chilchuck is at work quite a bit but never see how he is at home. Iâll be sounding harsh towards Chil on this but heâs pretty much the only party we can criticize since we donât know her, I still side with Chil on the leaving issue though, heâs justifiably pissed if she left without a word what the hell even.
Alcoholism and health
Chilchuckâs favorite food as listed in the Adventurerâs Bible is beer, and itâs shown that heâs prone to drinking until drunk whenever he gets the opportunity to. A cheerful drunk is still a drunk. (Extra reading: if interested here's a oneshot FMA fanfic by a friend that goes in depth about this very topic that really illustrates what sort of family dynamic that can bring about. Itâs not dunmeshi but itâs a good read.) Chilchuck is also canonically underweight, starving himself for a strict weight management diet (Extra reading: you can look at a short compilation post about that here). Did you know under eating makes one irritable? And this is on top of Chilchuck sometimes/regularly coming back home with "horrible injuries", since Marcille guesses it and he acts like sheâs dead right on everything that far.
Itâs rough seeing someone you love mistreat themselves, not being able to shake them out of that and having to stay to see them wasting away. Itâs rough seeing them put their work above their own health. Putting their work even above their family. Putting alcohol over family time. It's not that simple, but there's always that element when asking someone you love to tone it down with things like alcohol or such, that if they refuse, then it feels like they value that thing more than they value your feelings or opinions. That they love alcohol more than they love you.
You know how thereâs often this thing of "Well Iâm providing everything for this family, so whatever else that I do you donât get to complain." I do think that itâs something theyâd have argued over a little bit, not that heâd say it that way, but the essence of it. "Chilchuck, youâre drinking a lot of alcohol often, Iâm worried maybe you should ease up on it." "This is what I want to do in my free time, give me a break.", "Dear, your mood gets worse when youâre hungry, I really think you should stop dieting-" "Would you rather I die in a trap because I was too heavy?", "Honey I donât like when you work so far away from home for so long" "Well what else can I do, do you have any better idea?". That sort of thing. Even if not being passive agressive or snappy, or even spoken upon, these situations can cause tension, or a feeling of powerlessness or imbalance in the relationship. Although I personally feel like they were both rather passive in their relationship (thus having little arguments), which itself can be a problem since yes they let each other live but they grew more distant and less communicative as a result, more on that later. Content and tolerating, rather than happy and fulfilled.
Workaholism and long distance
Spending a lot (or even a majority?) of time away from home for years and years obviously can strain relationships in many ways. Besides becoming more distant, both with his wife and his daughters, there's just that side that maybe you grow apart or you end up not knowing them all that well. Like the fictional dialogue excerpts I wrote just above, the way Chilchuck puts work above most things can by itself be the source of a lot of unhealthy habits and strains that could not only hurt himself but his relationships too. Devoted doesnât mean attentive, even if Chilchuck 100% devotes himself to only her romantically and works in the goal to support her that doesnât transfer into being there for her, even when he physically is.
An absent father isn't necessarily a deadbeat father, but an absent father is absent. And alright, we donât know what his schedule was like exactly, but he was busy and traveled around, I think itâs fair to assume that if we were to make comparisons itâd be like parents irl who are often on work trips. We don't know what Chilchuck's wife's social circle is like, but regardless of how big or small or supportive it is it would be easy to get lonely I think. Besides raising the kids undoubtedly falling more onto her shoulders as well. Managing a household can be very hard and tiring even when not alone, I can imagine she felt like she missed the support of Chilchuck either as help or comfort oftentimes. We know very little about her, but I don't get the impression that she'd build up resentment over it except maybe her âfalling into a bad moodâ, but exhaustion? Absolutely.
Itâs also implied imo, even beyond Chil not often being at home, that they rarely go out together. And that could very well be part of why she was mad after the outing. In Marcilleâs theory she says that her wife felt out of place amongst all the cool adventurer coworkers, and if itâs a rare time that they go out together and it was supposed to be about her meeting his coworkers⌠I feel like what could have happened was that she felt out of place yes, and even moreso if she ended up not participating in conversations much because of it and no one really seemed to care, and the evening was all Chilchuck and his coworkers chatting it up as always and she was an outsider, if she sort of just faded into the background, if it felt like nothing would have changed wether she was there or not... If she felt like her presence didnât matter on this special outing that rarely happened, it could have been the straw that broke the camelâs back for her to want to leave, definitely. He finally comes back after a long work travel and they finally go out and this is what their quality time is like? The outing that was supposed to be about her & them both ended up being all about him, and once more she was supposed to just orbit around him and his life without complaint or her own selfish wants like a devoted wife. With how Chil said that she got mad "all of a sudden" on the way home and he didnât know why, plus that he was probably drunk (which may very well have made the whole thing worse), I feel like it supports that he didnât pay her much attention during the evening, not that Iâm assigning him ill intent at all, Iâm sure that for him, it was a casual and fun night out and he didnât think it'd been unpleasant or alienating for her.
That night
And all of this speculation in order to try and figure⌠What happened? Why did she leave? I've already gone into it a fair bit, but this is where I discuss it fully in depth.
We canât rely on Marcilleâs theory. Neither in the why she felt so out of place enough to want to leave, nor if her intention when leaving was to "test" him. I definitely agree that the reason why she left is layered and that the night/outing was the straw that broke the camelâs back more than the cause perse, but besides that itâs hard to say how much of it was impulsive and how much was because nothing else had worked to fix their relationship, or how long she'd been thinking of maybe leaving him.
Personally my favorite interpretation isn't that she found herself to be boring surrounded with Chilchuck's adventurer coworkers, or her reason for leaving is super centered around insecurity and if Chilchuck even loves her anymore, but that she sees how rich and eventful Chilchuck's life is and at the same time realizes how stagnant her own life has been. Chilchuck has adventurers for coworkers and they go out to bars and spend evenings together chatting it up, while she always does the same house chores every day and waits, and wonders, uncertain about when her huband would come back, and waits some more. She has a sort of passive role in her own life that gets pulled in one way or another by the people around her at their whims and needs, which is also a recurring theme in the manga: having a passive role in your own life, or a role that's devoted to others. Like with Falin who's always following her parents' directives or following Laios around, being the party's healer and eventually sacrificing herself for Laios and Marcille (she also doesn't seem to think much of marriage, as seen with Shuro proposing to her and her not having answered yet, which fits with how she was supposed to have an arranged marriage in her hometown too; a loveless marriage isn't something alarming to her). Izutsumi too, whose whole arc is about her gaining freedom and figuring out how to use this empowerment for herself and what she wants.
So she'd sit there, not knowing anyone except Chilchuck and not being able to follow their conversations about dungeons, and think about how this is a world she's totally apart from. How she knows so little of the world compared to him. She'd realize that while she's always waiting for Chilchuck to come home, dedicated to him and their family, Chilchuck's world doesn't stop and end at where and when he sees her, that while she's waiting he's living and experiencing things and being self-fulfilled. She's so passive and devoted and her tasks seem almost senseless now that the house is empty except for her, and in that time he's formed half-foot unions and she understands so little of what his life has become outside of her sight. This isn't a diss on Chilchuck or his attitude, I just think that it'd make her ponder about happiness and lifestyles, what's worth it and if she's content with her life. I think she'd find that her and Chilchuck aren't on the same page anymore, and probably they don't communicate much or even that they don't know how to communicate with each other anymore.
Other factors
They really do seem to be on different pages and not know how to communicate with each other well, since for example Chilchuck thinks that on the way back home she "suddenly" fell into a bad mood and seemingly left it alone, or otherwise they didn't talk until he knew what was wrong. Or like how she left and Chilchuck never reached out to her to talk or mend things, just like she never reached out either. According to Marcille it could be that she wanted to "test his love" and see if he'd even care if she was gone, but Chilchuck just got angry that she left like that and never reached out to her, so if that's true they definitely have incompatible expectations or ways to deal with things like that. Maybe she thought of leaving as something he should react to by trying to win her back, but Chilchuck did nothing and let her do her thing, and tbh if that were me I'd also have waited on her to reach out because I figure out that if someone leaves me they want space from me idk. He seems to be rather passive when it comes to interpersonal relationships and how they can mess up, made an analysis post here that talks about it, so the way he reacted by not reacting doesn't feel surprising, maybe she didn't know/remember that part of him, or wanted to shake him out of that tendency. He has no clue why she left, and there are just so many misunderstandings here that it's impossible to know what happened and how she felt and what she wanted for the future.
Also, weâre shown that younger Chilchuck, when he started dungeon crawling, is much more "innocent" and optimistic, less closed off on himself and bitter, and maybe he hasn't even developed his famous "sarcastic retorts" and "abusive remarks" yet as is plastered on all his character introductions and stats. Chilchuck has definitely changed a lot over the years, and some would argue not for the better. Staying with someone for so long has implications that they'll change and be different of course, but signing up for marriage with someone can still leave you questioning that choice decades down the line when they're so different
We get to see his freckles fade in sync with his corruption arc /j
Tfw when you canât recognize the man you fell in love with.
The hair question
Edit 1/13/2024 leak!!!! Things arenât officially confirmed but this is a safe bet. You can still read this section to see my reasoning to thinking she had black hair prior to this tho haha
It's not all that important rationally, but the community's been split on the topic: is Chilchuck's wife blonde or not?
Kui highlights Chilchuck being attracted to blondes a grand total of three times, and many assume that his wife is blonde due to this. However, the only vision we see of Chilchuck's wife is Marcille imagining herself as a halfling, so it's up for debate! Flertom has black hair, and that's mostly been the key clue that has people arguing.
I'm not an expert in genetics but black hair is a dominant gene, but it also doesn't mean a black haired parent can't have a brown haired kid, or that two brown haired parents can't have a kid with black hair. As long as one of the parents have it in their genetic code from somewhere in their family tree, it's possible, if not maybe unlikely.
People have been taking Flertom having black hair as evidence that Chilchuck's wife has black hair, but it could be Chilchuck that has the gene and could pass it on. Although...
That seems unlikely. We don't know what Chilchuck's elder brother's hair color was, and his elder sister does have a darker brown hair color, but in the case their parents had black hair or the gene for it, it seems highly unlikely if not impossible for the dominant black hair gene to miss this many amount of time in the gene russian roulette game.
And so I shall now call a witness to the stand, and you reader shall be the judge⌠Dandan.
You know, this guy? He makes appearances throughout the whole manga, but only has one spoken line in an easy to brush over flashback iirc. He's most often seen hanging out around Chilchuck and other half-foots, but it's unsure how far back he and Chilchuck go.
Now. Remember how Chilchuck and his wife are childhood friends? What if, and hear me out, what if Dandan is related to her. A cousin, or a sibling. Or maybe he's Chilchuck's cousin, even, if we go the reverse route.
The chapter cover
Look at the chapter cover below! We see each member of the main party at a table that's meaningful to them and their history, mostly showing themes of family, community and routine. Laios and Falin sharing a meal by themselves, Marcille at a meal in the cafeteria at the magic academy, Senshi by himself cooking in the dungeon, Izutsumi with Inutade at the Nakamoto household, and... Chilchuck, surrounded by much more mysterious and unknown characters and surroundings.
The only face we see besides the infant is a young one on the left which strikes me as looking a ton like Chilchuck! I doubt it's Meijack or Puckpatti, or someone else, especially since Chilchuck left his hometown pretty early which must make family gatherings harder (and routine is implied with the othersâ panels). If it were Meijack I think Kui would have drawn it to more closely match her too, and have her usual freckles. I also don't think it's just Chilchuck and his own family, since if that's Chilchuck the only sibling with black hair he could have is his elder brother and the infant in the middle is clearly, well an infant.
My thoughts are that the table is shared with family friends, or at least members of the community. The elderly person implies that either there's extended family or itâs a gathering, especially if Chilchuck's grandparents don't live with them. Community is implied to be very important with half-foots imo, and if Chilchuck is from a small hometown like he says that would surprise me even less. Childhood friends are often brought together as friends because of circumstances, such as proximity or their families being friends! Doesn't that kid almost off-panel on the right, with a Flertom-like hairstyle and black hair, look to be the same age as the Chilchuck on the left? đ
Also⌠Notice the dragon plush sheâs holding?
Passed down from mom to daughter? The "most likely belonged to his daughters" is interesting too
If he is related, Dandan could be the infant. I suppose he doesn't end up mattering all that much in the end if you theorize that the Flertom-like kid is his wife on its own though haha. But wether or not you think that this is convincing enough, it's all we have on the topic for now.
Ah yes! Lastly, I've seen the sentiment around that his wife should be blonde, that Chilchuck's taste for blondes, if not the thing that brought them together, should be an acquired taste from loving his wife. That if that's not the case, then Chilchuck's type being blondes is either out of place or insuting or unromantic, etc etc. I can't help but disagree! I think, especially with how Chilchuck and his wife are domestic and all about knowing each from a young age, familiarity etc etc, that it would be so sweet if she wasn't his type! Loving someone so deeply, even if they aren't an idealized type... Which is a common theme/story & character beat in Dungeon Meshi.
Family dynamic theories
Meijack is the most capable, takes after her father the most, seems to have her own business as a locksmith but has a stable steady life. Flertom is the most social, she works at a tavern which seems stable and is ambitious with marriage plans, she has a caring side to her since she sent her dad a handmade gift. Puckpatti is the most upbeat, though she has the most unstable lifestyle, seemingly doing odd jobs.
His daughters do seem well adjusted, which encourages me in that their family seems amicable on the whole and (at the very least) decently functional. We donât hear what they think of Chilchuck but presumably none of them are on bad terms with him or each other. Flertom does say that "half-foot men are stingy" which, gee, I wonder what half-foot man would have made taught her that- though it does also seem to be a racial stereotype in general, with how for example Namari also says to "steer clear from stores with half-foot clerks".
Flertom seems to be the only one who reached out after their mother left (the only one who's mentioned to have done so at least), and it's because she was the one who took in her mother. Itâs not implied that they exchange letters regularly too iirc, it possibly was the only letter they've exchanged since then. I wonder if the daughters even know the full story, if their mother told them all about it or very little. Maybe some are pretty out of the loop, or more distant.
It strikes me that they don't seem to be very close. We're not shown anything that leads us to believe they don't like their father, but I think they're so used to him being absent for work that such distance is normal for them and they don't really long for a deeper relationship or to see him often. They were already out of the house and it seems like they didn't see each other much at that time either so for them it would be just a bit less than the regular amount of Dad time. It's been 4 years Chilchuck what are you doing... But yeah! From what we see they seem mostly unaffected, almost indifferent, not that we can truly tell. I imagine Flertom is the one most attached to Chilchuck with how she sent him a handmade cowl, and I think he rubbed off the most on Meijack teachings wise (besides her attitude, sheâs also the one who still wears braids, and we see that Chilchuck braids hair). It makes sense, since they're oldest, and on the contrary I think Puckpatti is the one that knows her father the least. It'd fit the timeline with him working away more while she grew up imo.
Wouldn't it be interesting then that she's the one that Chilchuck says is carefree, in the official translation "doesn't treat life real seriously"? That she's the most optimistic, the most go-with-the-flow, out of the bunch? To me that sounds like a result from her being the youngest and Chil being the most often at work, thus her getting raised by her mother without as much involvement from Chil. Far be it from me to say Chilchuck would raise his daughters to be unhappy btw, not at all, we just all know what down-to-earth values he wants others to have so he doesn't have to worry about them.
Although⌠Puckpatti spotted?? Seems like he wants to stop her from buying something? His heart meter for her is full <3 (Note: Iâve seen it be argued that this could be his wife. I disagree, since the "stop them" and way that the long haired one is off-center compared to everyone else gives the sense that itâs many of his daughters, and the fact that itâs styled after a dating sim doesnât mean itâs romantic love as we see with the others. Otherwise imagine being her wife and he tells you not to buy stuff when you go shopping together rip)
Headcanons time:
When naming the daughters, together they choose a pool of names theyâd like but only one has the final say, and they alternate between who that is. Chilchuck sticks around more near the end of her pregnancies, and he hasnât missed any of their births. I donât have any opinions on who named who right now, but there could be some interesting stuff to theorize with Puckpatti, like them taking extra care picking the name together because they settled on her being their last daughter for fluff, or it was supposed to be Chilchuck but he was so busy that he ended up not picking in time and she was the one to name her for angst.
Actually scratch that I have a new theory : What if itâs actually customary for each parent to pick one half of their half-foot kidâs name? So then each would have chosen half of each girlâs name⌠And this could be why Chil calls Puckpatti Patti instead of Puck which is her first name, because heâs stubborn since Patti was his pick lmaoooo. Pattipuck doesnât have the same ring to it alas, his wife was so right
Chilchuck liked to do activities with the girls when they were young. He's not opposed to relaxing at home with them perse, but he likes to do workshops with stuff like arts & crafts to develop their agility some. I don't think they'd do much outings to places like restaurants or theatres for money reason, and I don't think Chilchuck is much of an outdoors type, but he could accompany them to nice fields to play in, or in winter places to play in snow and sled, and organize some activities at home. He's not home very often so when he is he likes to take it easy as a break from work and values the time he gets with his family.
Chilchuck would sometimes work from home as a locksmith, say, unlocking a chest for a customer. In those times, Meijack would take interest and watch him work, even handing him the tools he needs as he goes. In this way, Chilchuck taught her a lot about the work of a locksmith over time. He's also the one that would oil door hinges or do renovation around the house- when he's available.
Like the plushies under his table in his home that we see in illustrations, Chilchuck has a lot of mementos from his daughter (and his wife) he keeps around. Sometimes they take a bothersome amount of place, but throwing anything out isn't something he's seriously willing to consider. Flertom's the most artistic and she used to help with sewing clothes back together, so he has a cheap ceramic mug painted by her when she was really young and small embroideries around.
Imo Meijack would be the most distant in the present. Flertom makes efforts for her parents and is pretty involved, and Puckpatti's distance is more out of being a bit airheaded and being busy + not having a great grasp on time or what's a normal amount of family contact, but Meijack's the one who knowingly and intentionally keeps some distance. I think sheâd be the least optimistic about their family situation, and although sheâd be hopeful when Chilchuck reached out to them again sheâd be a but hesitant. I think Meijack would hold some grudges, being the one most critical of their parenting, both grateful to her dad for working so hard for them and saddened that he wasn't in their life more. Since Flertom was born in the same year I think itâs possible that Meijack was pushed aside a bit to take care of the younger baby more, out of necessity rather than lack of love. Her mom probably needed a lot of help around the house too. Flertom wasnât blind either, and she cared about & noticed her momâs emotional states, but sheâs on the whole more hopeful and forgiving.
This is my most far fetched one but it is a hc after all, but I think it'd be interesting if one of them had food hoarding tendencies/stress. I like to think it's Flertom, because she's the middle child and would get told that her older sister and younger sister are "growing and need the food" so she wouldn't be allowed to take as much refill or such, add that to them not having much money to frivolously spend on food and that makes a kid who's worried about not eating to her hunger and tends to be possessive over food (I'm projecting). Differential treatment is inevitable in families with many siblings, and it can manifest in small or big ways, maybe they realize it maybe they don't. Working in a tavern has helped eased that tendency of her though, and while she does diet a bit she always leaves a meal feeling satisfied.
When they were younger, Flertom was a real firecracker, loud and spirited with some troublemaking tendencies! She was the daughter that got in trouble & got scolded the most. You can still see slivers of it now that sheâs an adult, but sheâs much more poised and diligent. She has much more acquaintances than friends, but she has a couple of best friends and usually gets along well with most people. Puckpatti was always a bit head in the cloud, very kind if not gullible, and tended to make friends somewhat easily but didnât keep them for long, preferring to keep meeting new people and not keeping in touch well. She isnât super talkative but tends to ramble when she does. Meijack is very introverted, she has more trouble making friends, she has a good handful though they donât meet up often, her friendships tend to last and sheâs close to them. Sheâs grown more confident over the years, less repressed and more quiet. Meijack as the big sister tended to be the listener for her younger sisters who had more social mishaps. Flertom has dated once before and it only cemented to her that she was going to have very high standards from then on.
Meijack wears thigh-high boots because she hates when sand, dirt or snow gets in her shoes. She wears practical clothing but avoids anything frilly or flashy. Puckpatti also dresses practically, but she does enjoy pretty clothes, itâs more out of necessity and due to not having enough money to indulge. Flertom has a social stable job and she loves prettying herself up (especially as sheâs in search of a husband) so sheâs the one who gets the most and nicest fashionable clothes and accessories.
Chilchuck is hinted to have had a rather dysfunctional family himself (alcoholic father, distant siblings, etc). So he doesnât really have the best model on how to raise someone and such. I imagine it was a sort of neglectful home situation, where the kids are encouraged to be independent. If they didnât have to work or help around much, then free range parenting sort of thing. We do see how the family has full and warm feasts, where someone cleans his mouth with a rag, so itâs not like he didnât have a caring circle or a tragic childhood though! I donât remember if itâs explicitely stated, but heâs heavily implied to having grown up poor, as most half-foots, and I just think it's the hardened hardworking family type of childhood where just like he does with others they instill somewhat harsh life lessons in him, which in turn encourages him to indulge in the simple pleasures of life like alcohol and sex, or at least womenâs beauty and crass jokes. We do see he seems more optimistic when he's younger in flashbacks, so a bunch of his harsh view on the world is still likely learned and earned rather than taught. I still think he inherited many flawed views from how his father acted, like his attitude about excessive drinking not being a big deal and worth it. That work hard play hard, enjoy life die young mentality he has, shown mostly in the "alcohol" section of his Adventurer's Bible profile, could very well be partly a result of the general poverty half-foot communities are that he grew in as well, like how he doesn't hope for things to be as best as they could be and contends with good enough. As far as I remember, his mother is never mentioned, but I doubt it implies she was out of the picture. She was probably a regular sort of mother that took care of the home as well and was still around when his father died. It looks like thereâs a good age gap between one sibling to the next, that could be interesting to dig into too.
A part of Chilchuckâs character is that he takes responsibility for safety and actions of people around him and is very often looking out for them to not do faux-pas wether socially or literally with stepping onto traps. The way he says "Iâve got three people to think of here" makes me think thatâs also how heâd think about having to provide for his family, and that could be a source of stress and insecurity for him. Caring for others is a pretty integral part of his character and we see time and time again that his family is very important to him, in any case.
Post-canon
This pic has so much to say!! Itâs the âthank you for readingâ double page spread where theyâre going to a big dining table at the castle with Laios and the main gang. First family gathering in 4 years perhaps?! Iâll say, not feeling very hopeful that his wife isnât in this, not even implied to be just off-panel with a hand or anything⌠I imagine before this he still talked to them at least a bit and figured their family situation out, but I think this is still in the early stages of reconnecting. Haha imagine being one of them and receiving a letter saying "Hi itâs been a while⌠I want to introduce you to my ex-coworker the king and his friends, you up for that?" I donât want to reconsider all my hcs for this yet, but this pic does seemingly show an eagerness from all the daughters to reunite and reconnect! Meijackâs could be seen as more hesitant, but I think itâs just awkwardness from meeting so many new people, of high status no less. Chilchuck does seem awkward and somewhat self-conscious though, and while that could be just from say Marcille and the others meeting his daughters and him not knowing how to act, I think that also shows that Chilchuck is unsure how to act around his daughters too. Canât blame him, Iâd be stressed too. Anyways, the daughters are all dressed up! Puckpatti even brought flowers! And I doubt itâs just for Senshi, or just to be in with the king. Oh also also, Puckpatti chides Meijack here, seemingly on manners?, so that implies new/different family dynamics there~
We know with the succubus chapter that he does plan on reaching out to his wife again and shooting his shot, and when Marcille was dungeon lord he told her she could help think of a plan to make up with her together at which point Marcille showered him in gifts and flowers intended for her and his daughters. So we do know that whatever happens and however it happens, Chilchuck definitely will at least reach out to her to win her back or worse case scenario get closure on the situation.
-
These are his plans before itâs revealed that the Island is⌠Well, not an island but the golden kingdom, so the news that Laios is king and that might have changed them a bit, but I think heâs still gonna stick around to help with the half-foot guild for a while.
My personal ideal post-canon Chilchuck life is that after around a year or two of helping around in the golden kingdom, especially regarding half-foot working rights, he gets his shop and finally settles down. He prioritized the whole half-foot guild because there are changes to attend to and people to help, but also used that to procrastinate a bit on getting in touch with his wife again. He does send a letter though, and when she replies they then meet face to face. They explain how it was like on their end, their grievances and their feelings, and they do reconcile. But⌠Itâs been 4 years and his wife has frankly moved on. Sheâd rather they stay as friends, and Chilchuck has mixed feelings on it but is ultimately fine with it. He was halfway resigned to not reconciling with his wife in canon after all. But no longer do they have cut contact! They get together with the girls for the holidays and the ambiance is nice! He starts exchanging letters more regularly. He also gets a second family of clingy asses with Izutsumi and the main gang and so though he lives alone in his shop heâs well surrounded and well loved, and his daughters visit to check up on him every so often.
I really like the⌠Maturity of Chilchuckâs plotline, if that makes sense? To me the ending that fits the most is him and his wife reconciling, but not getting back together. I like that they could still be adults about it and at least amicable even after divorce, and that that wouldnât be treated as a tragic ending. In the end, they were childhood friends and teenage parents, they rushed things a bit and I genuinely think theyâre just not that compatible. If not then, at least having it be a gradual process, getting back together and making it work until theyâre truly comforatble with each other. Destroy the relationship to better build it again stronger!
Although, his arc in the manga is to allow himself to form connections and be optimistic, which would fit well with him and his wife getting back together. I def think Chil would get healthier post-canon which could fix the issues they had in their relationship though. Like for one he starts eating more, which improves mood & irritability & health, and also after the whole half-foot guild he plans to settle down with a shop so it wouldnât be long distance or unstable anymore which would definitely give his wife some peace of mind. If they still do some long distance at first while he gets the half-foot guild stable, itâd be really cute if he sent pressed flowers with his letters to her⌠That could make a nice fic concept, like over time all the pressed flowers and exchanged letters hehe (oh shit thatâs a nice title)
My post-canon timeline is Chilchuck lives a nice life living alone in his house except his friends all visit him and care and even tho he likes living alone itâs also bittersweet and every corner of his life is haunted by mementos of the ones he loves and the moments he had with them. But then itâs also like the shared duty of everyone to pass by his shop when they can and keep the old man company and sometimes that means many people come at the same time like if both Meijack and Marcille came the same day~ Cozy life, no regrets except a lil regrets still. Thatâs it thatâs all I want.
Misc
I didnât know where to put this, so new category time! Family truly is a central theme of Chilchuckâs character. His reaction to learning more about how life gets made is so awed by the wonder of the world. Life indeedâŚ
The implication of this page is that Chil didnât know about the science side of how procreation works, though of course he did know about the practical side of it. This is speculation, and we have no clue how widespread the information of how reproduction scientifically works lol, but I think itâs fair to think that half-footsâ education especially in smaller communities is handled by the parent, school of life style, or if there are schools then the education is very general and it probably ends early. I think this is supported by how for example half-footsâ jobs weâve seen are based on experience rather than knowledge, like being a locksmith. Of course any job has its fair share of specialized knowledge to learn, but jobs you learn on the fly pretty well. This sort of dynamic contrasts a lot against elves many tallmen communities, like with the magic academy, where education and knowledge are valued almost above experience, this is what the mandrake chapter was all about after all. Poorer communities tend to have poorer education systems as well irl, itâs a whole issue.
So I already said my piece about his wife not being blonde and it being nice and romantic because literally you donât need someone to be a beauty ideal to love them and thatâs fine and normal and even more romantic imo. But!! I do have an headcanon, now that his wifeâs appearance is all but explicitly confirmed. While their hair is blonde, yes their hair is wavy and the âmainâ one has deep-set eyes, not unlike his wife! Now this is a âwhich came first the egg or the chickenâ question, but while most people seem to be assuming that he got with his wife because she was his type, since theyâre childhood friends I feel like itâs his love for his wife that shaped his preferences in that deparment. Like ok he loves golden hair and hers is black, but isnât it so much more romantic that he has so much love and devotion for his wife and has stared lovingly at it so much over the years, that itâd become his ideal? He loves her eyes <3
Conclusion
Reminder that Iâve got more observations and tidbits compiled in a reblog addition now.
More stuff I should workshop for the masterpost:
Compile more info on Chilchuck's father and his other family. Edit: I compiled all I had pretty neatly here in a speculation post, but thereâs no other concrete piece of info other than what Iâve covered here sadly. Same with stuff like Chilchuckâs past work schedule and exchanged letters, there seems to be no other bits of evidence, exceptâŚ
On the chapter cover and extra where heâs in his basement room we can see one letter and a few papers across his desk. Maybe family letters? Wether his daughters or relatives. Seems too few to me, could just as well be job descriptions, but truly who knows, itâs hopeful.
Excellent analysis on half-foot culture here by a friend that I should read and incorporate the good info into my own meta~
And thus I leave you with a lil web weaving I made about Chil & his wifeâs relationship~ And this is where Iâd put panels of Chilchuckâs wife⌠IF THERE WERE ANY
Should we even call Chilchuck's wife Mrs. Tims... We don't know dunmeshi marrital traditions though, and half-foot already have somewhat complex naming conventions... I hate that we don't really know if the daughters' last names are Chils or Chilz. Although that seems to be a japanese to english translation issue, since japanese used the suffix zu and not su, likely to imitate the english S sound at the end of a word. Oh yeah the last names change each generation, thatâs odd right? But in english it sounds like saying Chilâs, like, [father]âs, so I think this also supports how half-foots communities tend to be tightly knit and live in the present, for them to be like "Ooh so youâre [father]âs little one eh? I know who that is and this is insightful as to who your family is to me!". Icelandâs a place where last names are like this, though I donât know about pros and cons of it in that context. Itâs called a patronymic.
Ah and I have a bittersweet spotify playlist about her and Chil too, here if ya want. Thatâs it the post is over

One of my biggest pet peeves is the assumption that something has to be sad for it to be tragic.
I've always been a big believer of the 'Apollo has an awful love life'/'Apollo is plain unlucky with love' line of thinking but it does bother me that the general reasoning for that statement is given to the concept of 'Apollo is somehow undesireable and thus rejected' (Cassandra/Daphne/Marpessa) or 'his lovers die young and thus their love is unfulfilled' (Cyparissus/Hyacinthus/Coronis). I personally think that's a very unfortunate way of looking at things - not only because it neglects the many perfectly cordial entanglements and affairs Apollo has had, both mortal and divine - but because it presents a very shallow interpretation of the concepts of love and loss and how loss affects people.
Apollo can still grieve lovers that have a long, healthy life. The inherent tragedy of an immortal who knows his lovers and children will die and cannot stop it does not stop being tragic simply because those lovers and children live long, fulfilled lives. The inherent tragedy of loss does not stop being tragic simply because someone knows better than to mourn something that was always going to end.
What is tragic is not that Apollo loves and loses but that loss itself follows him. Apollo does not love with the distance of an immortal, he does not have affairs and then leaves never to listen to their prayers again. He does not have offspring and then abandon them to their trials only to appear when it is time to lead them to their destinies. He raises his young, he protects the mothers of his children, he blesses the households that have his favour and multiplies their flocks that they may never go hungry. He educates his sons, he adorns his daughters and even in wrath he is quick to come to his senses and regret the punishments he doles out.
Apollo loves. And like mortals, there will always be some part of him that wishes to protect the objects of his affections. Apollo, however, is also an emissary of Fate. He knows that the fate of all mortal things is death. He knows that to love a mortal is to accept that eventually he will have to bury them. There is no illusion of forever, there is no fantasy where he fights against the nature of living things and shields his beloveds from death. Apollo loves and because of that love, he also accepts.
And that, while beautiful, is also tragic.
#ginger rambles#ginger chats about greek myths#greek mythology#apollo#Listen man#I think there's something extremely beautiful about Apollo's affairs#Yes I know that Ares also loves and cares for his daughters but this isn't about him#There's just something about the way that Apollo put his all into it every single time#To the point that even when he does know better he still fights because of the strength of his love#The Iliad to me will always be a love story#Yes Achilles' wrath is said to come from his overwhelming feelings towards Patroclus#but what Achilles does has nothing to do with grief or love#By the end of everything Achilles forsook that love which ought to have defined his actions based on what he was saying#and warped it into a weapon meant to satisfy the void left by his loss#Apollo though - I am always taken aback by the sheer weight of his love#towards not only Hektor but towards all of Troy in the Iliad#And how he is very careful to balance that love and all the ways he wishes he could fight against their inevitably end#with his duties as one who is both aware of the impending end and whose position in the war#has put him in opposition with his elders#That delicate balance between a love so powerful that he is willing to take on the full weight of Athena and Hera's wrath#and an understanding that the battle he fights is not for victory but simply because for love's sake#How could you not think of that as beautiful and awesome and so achingly tragic#I feel the same about both Asclepius' and Actaeon's deaths#Apollo loved BOTH of his sons - Asclepius and Aristaeus - so so SO much#He was so incredibly proud of them both and delighted immensely in the both of their victories and talents#And so when Asclepius dies and it is by his own father's hand - I have always found his act of wrath so fascinating#Honestly this could be its own separate post - but the fact that Apollo does not beg Zeus to reconsider or to bring Asclepius back#when Apollo has made cases for lenience on things like that before speaks of a level of understanding from Apollo that Asclepius was always#going to die because of his pushing of the boundary between life and death#so he doesn't bother trying to reason with Zeus or plea his grief - instead going directly to destroying something important to Zeus

no but essek's abnormal behaviours in the last arc and especially in episode 140 are my roman empire. which is ironic because aeor is something of a roman empire itself. but in all seriousness, it was the episode that made me realise i love essek and his development so much and it kinda summarised it even before caleb's epilogue.
and i mean the "it's not fair" scene specifically. it's like, an epitome of his whole character progression from a person who put An Objectively Important Goal above all else without hesitation to someone who can't help but care for people around even more than his goal, no matter how big and relevant it is.
the mighty nein - and he alongside them - pretty much saved the world and freed an ancient city from thousand-year-long suffering. they defeated nine extremely powerful menacing entities who managed to stay out of everyone's sight for years and were so close to achieving their goal and dooming exandria in the process. they did the impossible and became heroes and somehow, they survived, even though they had bidden farewells a couple of hours ago because they had already understood what they had been facing. and nevertheless. they made it.
and none of them was celebrating.
mighty nein are basically essek's only friends. he knew them to be very unusual people, to put it lightly, loud and stubborn and completely inescapable once they consider you to be one of their own. and they showed him so much kindness and put so much faith in him, they were here playing the most atrocious music ever and digging clay in his backyard for a spell they invented just to help one of theirs and asking him if he could bring them pastries the day after they found out he was lying to them and had started a war. they were chaotic and weird and sometimes unbearable but most importantly they were carrying so much hope with them all this time - a hope they could end the war, a hope they could stop the angel of irons cult, a hope they could get better, a hope he could get better, and now, finally, that they could save their lost friend.
and that hope shattered, just like that, the moments after they'd already made the impossible. they saved so many souls - and then could not get back just that one.
for essek "my intentions were never good they were important" thelyss it just. shouldn't have mattered. they won. it could have been worse. people die and when they die they rarely come back. they should've been happy everyone else barely made it alive.
but for some reason, mighty nein being so defeated after they saved the world exposed him to that overwhelming feeling of injustice and unfairness. and i mean, there were many things essek considered to be unfair, but when i watched his first appearance and his interactions with mighty nein later on til their reunion in aeor arc, i wouldn't dare to guess that one of the things on that list would be something that personal. and personal not even to him.
the thing is, essek didn't even know who that guy was. why mighty nein cared about him so much. he had an idea, i guess, that he was their friend once, or someone in that body was. it was also a person who wanted to unleash a terrifying horrific aberration onto the material plane. it was a person very dedicated to killing essek and his friends - and they still didn't take any pleasure in fighting him. essek didn't feel strongly about lucien or molly, because he never knew them.
i don't think he mourned his death and failed resurrection. he mourned mighty nein's hope, the one they put in him when they had no reason to, the one they offered yasha in the cathedral and the one they kept after the spell for veth failed and the one they carried til the very end because they wanted it to reach molly. they had saved people with this hope. they had saved nations. they had saved the world. but they ended up feeling like it hadn't even been worth anything.
how desperate would it feel, witnessing people who for some reason always saw good in you when they absolutely shouldn't, who made literal miracles out of nothing, who ended wars and fought gods and tricked the hags and freed cities from horrors beyond anyone's comprehension purely because they thought it was the right thing to do and also loved their friends this much, silently crying over a dead body they couldn't bring back to life? how desperate would it feel to realise that with all your knowledge about time you dedicated your life to and threw away any principles for, you can't undo this? no one can. some things are left to fate alone and this time it wasn't kind to them. no matter how much good they did, they still got slapped in the face.
and it was, i think, such a genuine moment of empathy. like, essek is the character who prefers to put up a facade and act distant and self-composed but this time he just. walked away unable to watch this. the could only say to fjord that it wasn't fair. even when he was caught off guard in nicodranas he was able to explain himself and his motives to an extent even though he was a nervous wreck whose extra important plan went to hell the second the only people he cared about appeared. this time he had nothing to elaborate on. it just wasn't fair. it wasn't fair his friends didn't get what they wanted the most. it wasn't fair he couldn't do anything to make it right.
it is such a sad and beautiful and even cathartic scene because it is about person who started a war that destroyed so many lives - and then met this ragtag group of weirdos who saw a lonely stand-offish guy and said "hey, let's be friends!" and didn't even wait for him to answer. he saw them being serious and calculated and he saw them being ridiculous and extremely stupid, he saw their mistrust to outsiders and their loyalty to each other, he made spells with them and paid a visit to their hot tub, he ate their stale pastries and drank their hot chocolate mixed with whiskey, he was welcomed amongst them and in their wonderful home, both in xhorhas before they even found out what he had done and in the tower when they already knew - and then, he saw them mourning their loss, defeated and helpless, and he, a person who believed there were things more important than whole nations, let alone just one life, couldn't help but share the pain they felt. a pure display of compassion from someone who detached himself from it, who didn't believe he could grow into a better person capable of it again, but became one nonetheless without even realising it
#sorry. i cannot shut up about this. this scene stuck with me the moment i saw it and i just couldn't get it out of my head#i mean. i liked essek well enough. i just got attached to other characters more. but then 'it's not fair' happened and it sealed the deal#it was just. so beautiful. so sincere. so important for a character who just started to learn how to care about people#his reaction wasn't intentional. it didn't change anything. but it showed how humane he had become. how deeply he cared#mighty nein are no joke pal#they're gonna make you feel all these unknown emotions like sympathy and love and affection even when they're incredibly painful#essek experiencing closeness and attachment in all their forms. as something beautiful and something aching. is so important to me#they saved him because they had good hearts! and these good hearts sparked so much joy around them!#but if a good heart grants you an ability to experience joy so profoundly. it makes everything else feel like that#you get it. i hope you get it. anyway e140 did so much psychic damage on me i probably will never recover#in a good way mostly <3 but yeah. yeah. it makes me feel a little insane#the mighty nein#essek thelyss#critical role

just a few javieran horse headcanons because i like them a normal amount
branwen
- tall AND fat. kieran makes sure heâs always fed (maybe even accidentally a teensy bit overfed. just because kieran canât help but indulge him when he butts him with his head or nuzzles at his pockets when he knows thereâs treats in there. but never too much because âobesity is a problem, even in animals !â). probably about 17hh, taller than average for a kentucky saddler but nothing too big. especially since kieran himself is quite tall
- VERY well-tempered, both naturally, as well as because kieran has literally made him bulletproof. bagged him, blanketed him, stood, jumped, backflipped onto and off of him. this kindly gentleman of a horse only spooks when he wants to be bratty specifically.
- i think heâs about 6 or so, came from the stables kieran worked at after being orphaned, he was just a colt when kieran was just a kid. kieran learned how to birth foals quickly, and branwen happened to be one of them. with the way that they fell in love with each other and the way that branwen whinnied and pranced up to the fence when kieran came back to buy him after the army didnât work out, youâd think that horse was born just for him.
- his favourite treats, in order, are rutabaga (kieranâs secret for branwenâs glossy coat. also why heâs kinda fat.), boiled potatoes mixed into his oats, apples, and fresh greens. heâs simultaneously incredibly easy to please because of the simplicity of the latter parts of his favourites list and also very needy and complicated because kieran so loves to make his pony happy with his absolute favourite treats, so he tries his very best to get branwenâs eccentric tastes pleased once falling into the VDLâs.
- i always say âa horseâs favourite thing to do is hurt itselfâ, and i think this statement holds relatively true for branwen as well, though thereâs a 25% chance that heâs actually hurt, a 50% chance that heâs only mildly injured or spooked and heâs playing it up to get kieran to dote on him, and a 25% chance that he will protect kieran with his life when theyâre in a dire situation (see: snake on the ground or gunfire nearby. or even god forbid a spare tumbleweed find itâs way rolling nearby.) despite kieranâs last wish being his horse getting injured. branwen thinks that heâs gotta be The Man and protect his dad sometimes. it does not help in any situation ever whatsoever.
- branwen is the PERFECT companion for a trail riding date. heâs settled, calm, has a great gait, and as a gelding, truly is not worried about other horses being âfasterâ than him, so he never gets rowdy nor has any problems when partner riders/horses crowd him. kieran is allowed to ask for as many kisses as he pleases because branwen will never jump when javierâs gold-tipped boots poke him in the side and boaz irritatedly flicks his flank with his tail. truly a goated wingman. also never complains about long rides, and enjoys being out of camp with his rider for as much as physically possible for both of them, so heâs never barnsour in either direction.
boaz
- as an american paint, heâs naturally short and stocky. saddle ends up being a bit loose, though, as javier isnât as dedicated to keeping him perfectly fed or groomed. he loves him, sure, but horses are somewhat of tools to him, so he kinda does slightly more than bare minimum to keep him kempt and healthy. around 14.5hh, slightly shorter than average and quite dense with muscle
- temperamentally a bit volatile. this horse has just as much drama as his rider, if not a little more. doesnât like something ? ridden too long ? that stick looks too much like a snake ? hasnât spent enough time with kieran that day ? he will snort and grunt and bunny hop if javi isnât on him, and shudder hard enough the saddle shakes underneath him if he is. boaz likes to please his rider, but he also demands pleasure himself, and has no issue with âaccidentallyâ placing a hoof on his owners nice, intentionally clean boots, and subsequently slowly leaning more and more of his weight onto it when he doesnât immediately get what he wants. bratty pony. generally, he keeps javier safe, though, when it comes down to it.
- around 5 years old. after dutch found javier trying to steal chickens the first time they met, he soon took him back to that ranch and their first take as gang leader and member was a 1 year old grey paint colt for javi to train and subsequently ride. until he was rideable, javier rode a morgan that was formerly hoseaâs, named carolina, while he lead boaz everywhere behind him.
- favourite treats, in order, are corn cobs (especially dried), prickly pear fruit AND cactus, sugar cubes, and sliced apples. will force javier to share his maiz with him. javier has always sliced his apples up since he was a colt, not only because javi simply finds comfort in toying with his knife, but also because boaz will not eat them otherwise. javi will also cut all of the spines off of the cactus before letting boaz eat them.
- in terms of injury, boaz is the most dramatic tank on the planet. this horse could arthur morgan-style run face first into a tree and then fall off a cliff and walk it off. but not before he gimps and limps and whines and teeth grinds his way into javier leading him instead of riding him for the next mile or two. once kieran started taking care of him, there is also a 25% chance of boaz faking a terribly painful injury just to get kieran to dote on him.
- kinda the worst wingman ever LMFAO easily annoyed, easily aroused, easily offended, and as a stallion, HAS to walk in front of the âherdâ (his riderâs boyfriend and his horse). pins his ears back, smashes into personal space, flicks branwen with his tail (and preferably kieran, if he can reach him) even sometimes will nip at branwen if the latter tries to calmly make this date a date and not a life or death race (whoever loses, their dad is gay) and walk side-by-side to aid their ridersâ hand holdings. will make executive decisions via stopping or veering off for fresh green grass beside the trail, will at points actively attempt to shudder javier out of his saddle (has succeeded once when javi was distracted by a story being excitedly told by kieran), and will also spook and take off running so fast javier thinks it must have broken his neck from the velocity. generally makes trail rides a living hell, but kieran finds it charming, and it makes for some cute shoujo-style âomg ⌠*reaches out to help you up after your horse bucks you off because he saw a log that looked nothing at all and everything like a cougar and pink and white soft bubbles surround me* are you okay ? here, let me help.â moments. maybe some day boaz will be allowed off of the national american terrorist list written by javier ârizzless riderâ escuella
ok im tired and thatâs all i can think of please enjoy and feel free to contribute đ i love them so bad im gona cry
#iâm at the gym for the first time since my od and ouugghh iâm so emotional#itâs 2am aslo. ouu they haunt me#i love thinking about them being silly little domestic cowboys#and just going on dates and riding their little horsies#my fav horse girls !1!!11!1!1!! even tho javi isnât a horse girl really but in my heart he is cuz kieran loves trail rides#and so javieran go on trail rides a lot as well as ââriding into townâ as an excuse to get out of camp together#javier is so good at listening he truly learned the art of shutting up when he couldnât speak english and also was learning in america that#he really should trust sparingly because the new world was so incredibly hostile to him from the start simply for being who he was and where#he came from#so heâs such a great active listener and while itâs kinda a trauma response it also works very well for javierans relationship because kiera#has never in his life ever felt important or safe or like anything he said mattered to anyone so perfect brilliant âiâm listening go onâ jab#vier makes kieran feel so loved and heard in ways heâs never ever in his life experienced and javi takes them fishing and riding and to the#stables constantly because heâs LISTENED to kieran and kieran never has to ask to do something he wants to do because javiâs already HEARD h#im (and he also knows kieran would never ask for anything first ever because he never feels like he deserves anything at all. nor even feels#safe enough to dare).#and javier gets his cake and eats it too when kieran asks and asks and asks because kieran cares about EVERYTHING right from the getgo beau#se unlike javier kieran has been entirely unable to turn his heart off at all in any capacity so he loves and loves ans loves against his wi#ll so javier has been so adored from the start because kieran canât HELP it so he gets him gifts and learns things for him and javi just as#much never has to ask for much other than courage from kieran. ever. can anyone hear me is anyone lidtening ouuu#ok enough sorry they make me so emptipnal#rdr2#red dead redemption 2#javieran#kieran duffy#javier escuella#text#hero's talking to himself again#heroâs waxing poetry again#i think that was the tag Âż#im gonna throw up i miss them so bad theyâre everything to me oouuggyuuuy

A flip through of my second book!!!
I'm so so so SO happy with how it came out...
The whole process going from scroll to print has been so enjoyable (but also has taken me so much time)
If you want this book (or any of the other 3 (or all 4!)) then I'm running a kickstarter right now! there's only 10 days left!!!
#I want to see how much I can do without webtoon#been thinking a lot about my future and my work in general#and I think my ideal is no companies involved#just me and my readers#making what we want to see#and what we need#idk. I dont think I'm doing anything incredible but I still think its important!#and I love it so much#and itd be nice not to feel tied to companies hahahaha#but also I'm disabled and cant do a lot of jobs so (grimacing emoji)#theres a lot. I've been thinking a lot hahahah#anyways.#the books are fuckin good I'm so proud of them#still working on number 4#I'm writing new scenes for it!!!!#kickstarter stuff

hiiii lily what is this âorvâ i have been seeingâŚ..
HIIII MIKE. SMILES. orv is Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint! it's a webnovel with an ongoing webtoon adaption and it is making me Fucking Crazy. basically the premise there's this really unpopular really long webnovel called Three Ways to Survive an Apocalypse, and for years, Kim Dokja has been the only reader. when the novel finally ends, the author sends him an email with the txt file of the whole novel, and then suddenly the novel is wiped from the internet and in that instant, the events of the novel begin taking place in Kim Dokja's world. the apocalypse begins and humanity is subjected to cruel scenarios and challenges livestreamed for the entertainment of these powerful entities called constellations, and as the only one who read the story to its end, Kim Dokja is the only one fully equipped with knowledge of how this story goes (or at least, how it originally went)
it is SO good. it lures you in like "ooh this is a normal reverse isekai" and then ends up being CRAZY. it deals with questions about the boundary between characters and Real People and whether that distinction really matters, and it's one of those stories that looks the audience dead in the eye and dares you to look away first. literary devices are made Real (oh fourth wall we're really in it now...) and it plays with narrative voice and pov and unreliable narration in such fun ways. it is ultimately about the value of stories and the value of being a reader and the choice to wrestle with the story that's been written for you in favor of the story you really want to tell. it's also about Kim Dokja having something Deeply Wrong With Him skdlfjlksdjf the journey i went on with him was "okay he's a reader insert who reads novels as escapism, i get it" -> "oh actually he has something wrong with him" -> "oh he has something Wrong With Him" -> "WHAT. WHAT THE FUCK. HELLO. WHAT WAS THAT." I'm obsessed with him.
I read the webtoon first which I think is a pretty effective onboarding point! some of the art had my jaw on the FLOOR it's so cool. the webtoon has adapted roughly the first third of the whole novel so far, and if you want to read the novel just dm me and I'll hit you up with the epub file lol (not just mike but anyone who is interested!)
#asks#puzzlehat#OOOOH YOU WANNA READ ORV SO BAD#i haven't finished it yet btw#according to my ebook app I'm 38% into it which is insane to think about#but YEAH it's so so so so so good so far#the story it's telling is so compelling and the pacing is like. incredibly solid. which is IMPRESSIVE for something this long#i want to gnaw on kim dokja like a dog.#other bonuses: really good supporting cast featuring a LOT of women which is a huge plus for me#soooo refreshing to see so many well written women. god. i love them so much#really interesting character arcs for the supporting cast alongside the main character(s)#im not sure who i'd label the main characters. kim dokja obviously? and the protagonist of the original novel (yoo joonghyuk)#i get the suspicion han sooyoung becomes more of a main character later but i haven't seen her in a while </3#another bonus is that in addition to like. telling a compelling story that is at times emotionally devastating#it's also REALLY funny at times#kdj SUCKS i love him so much <3 he loves being a pain in the ass#he understands blorbo aggression like no one else#kdj reading about yjh for years: this character is so important to me and has gotten me through some really tough times#kdj meeting yjh: i need to KICK HIS ASS!!!! i need to BOTHER HIM!!!!!!!!#anyway. this is a long answer but you should read orv <3 it is changing my life <3#if it helps i think orv has a special appeal for people who enjoy things like hlvrai and homestuck. do with that knowledge what you will.

I know fans joke abt how the warden is more competent than the inquisitor bc they did all that w/o much help but the funny thing abt amihan is she actually isn't
she was 20, angry and hated herself and the world, she ended up in the situation she was in bc she was...a petty snitch. she also hates being a grey warden and continues to hate being one through dai - she actually leaves but then decides to search for the cure
for most of the Blight, it was fuck up after fuck up. like I play it so that I have enough ppl to help me fight the archdemon, but in my personal headcanon, she pissed off a lot of potential help (whether it be Circle mages who overheard her saying she was "gonna annul this shit" out of anger, eamon's men who did NOT like her, bhelen who didn't really trust the fact that she knew nothing about politics), left a bad taste in people they came across and picked a fight with anora
which I think makes sense for a 20 year old ill-adjusted young woman who had to learn how to be more selfless. beating the archdemon was pure luck mixed with people just NOT WANTING the Blight to destroy ferelden and realizing joining the fight was the only way to stay alive
amihan does grow, but it's slow, she has to process trauma, understand she hurt people and ruined their lives and to actually experience what it's like being loved (both platonic and romantic)
I tend to not post so much abt how much amihan fucked up and almost let a Blight swallow ferelden bc I tend to feel anxious abt how ppl will receive it but I think it's important to her character and it's fun and interesting for me to play with it in this case
immy is 100% more competent than amihan, in spite of her own flaws, but I love both my messy and my scaredy cat girl all the same
#amihan amell#my first pt of dao was a mess tbh lmao and i messed up so much and amihan's canon is pretty similar#after i fucked up and left amalia possessed ive been thinking abt playing the rest of the game where i'll pick what amihan would actually do#regardless of whether or not thatll end up being a good thing in the long run lmao so watch this space#i also wanna talk abt her friendships w morrigan and zev#god i love morrigan to death but lmaoo i know them being so close they just enabled each other's bad habits#which i think why it was good that morrigan and amihan drifted after dao bc they needed to grow apart#its v important to me that they meet again#zev is extremely important to amihan learning how to be selfless#im sorry to zev tht he had to deal w amihan's bs during a blight đđđ#also there are companions and other characters that just straight up hate amihan and lol đ#anyway just rambling bc i love an incredibly flawed female character and thts what i wanna portray w amihan
