Bono and I were going through the data from one of the previous races, when Shov walked into the office.  “How’s it going?” I asked. “Um… strange, to be honest,” he replied after a pause, “I have got terrible sunburns out of nowhere.” “Well, you are quite pale,” Bono chuckled before I could say anything. He was listening, but his eyes were still glued to the screen. “Yes, but,” Shov took of his branded jacket and straightened his short-sleeved shirt, “this doesn’t looks very normal, does it?” he said showing a bunch of blotchy red spots all over his forearm. Some of them are started to heal and turned brownish, it looked very much like actual burns from the fire, not the sun. “You should see a doctor about this,” I said looking up from Shov’s arm up to his face. Huh. Something else was different. “Where are your glasses?” I asked. Shov and Bono always looked very strange without their glasses. And his eyes looked different too, unusually bright and blue, as if they were glowing from within. Or maybe I just didn’t notice that before. “I don’t know, actually,” Shov patted his pockets as if he could find the glasses there.  “I guess I forgot to put them on in the morning,” he looked around confused. “Did your eyesight get magically fixed overnight?” Bono smirked, looking up from the computer at Shov and me. “That’s interesting. Maybe you have a brain tumor,” he added. “I think I saw something like that on TV”. “That’s very helpful,” Shov looked at Bono quite sternly, “now I also have to worry about a tumor”. “You probably don’t have a tumor,” I tried to reassure him, but it didn’t sound like that at all. Shov and I looked at each other for a moment; somehow I couldn’t stop staring at his face. “We should get to work, actually,” he sighed, looking away first.

It’s been forever since I watched the Gen 5 anime and last time I really sat down and watched the whole thing, I wasn’t as absolutely insane about N and Team Plasma as I am now. I kept on and off thinking about this tag going “did he have a bed???” Cause I honestly couldn’t remember, I knew his room was shown in a flashback but I didn’t remember the layout

Low and behold, I cracked tonight and decided to look at screenshots of the episode we see child N and-

HE DID. HE DID HAVE A BED IN ANIPOKE

Firstly, thank you Anipoke for giving this child a god damn bed we can rest easy knowing at least one timeline he won’t get scoliosis by the age of 23

Secondly. This just has me thinking like the tag said, did he have a bed at some point in game canon? Obviously we don’t have any evidence if he did have a bed or not at any point, this is all my autistic brain speculation, but there’s a lot of interpretations I can get

Did he used to have a bed (or at least a sleeping bag and pillow) at any point? Was it taken away? Did Ghetsis decide to punish him for whatever reason and remove the right to a comfortable sleep? Was it just temporary or did it get fully removed at some point? What time in his life did it get taken away? Did he even mind it getting taken away? He clearly wouldn’t have had a bed in the woods before he was adopted, maybe he just didn’t like sleeping in a bed? And he slept on the floor willingly enough for Ghetsis to decide he didn’t need a bed just wasting away in his room? Either interpretation is fucked for very different reasons united by the shared need to drop kick Ghetsis cause oh my GOD GIVE THIS KID A BED

One of Hello Future Me's videos on revolution brought up an event from the Philippines back in the 80s: the dictator sent a battalion to crush a supposed revolt, only for the soldiers to be met with nuns and children offering food and water. The majority of the army defected as a result

I'm going to use rwby to try hammering this abstract concept into a coherent thought, but this incident got me thinking about how nonviolent protest is theater

If a similar event were to occur in rwby, for it to be successful, the protestors would have to be the cutesy faunus types: rabbits, cats, dogs, and the like because they're non-threatening. Attacking a sweet cat faunus would be akin to attacking a child or nun, paragons of innocence and virtue respectively. Only a monster could cut them down, and no one wants to be seen as a monster

A scorpion faunus, though? Their mere existence is a threat. That tail is dangerous, a weapon available at all times. Bull faunus have horns they can use to gouge out eyes and organs. Claim they attacked and most people would agree that killing them in self-defense is justified

Because nonviolent resistance relies on public perception, people who could possibly taint the image of the movement will get left in the dark no matter how important they are. Bayard Rustin was the one who taught Dr King about civil disobedience and was an organizer for many major events, but he opted to ride to events in the trunk of people's cars so his status as an openly gay man wouldn't harm the movement's image

There would be little wonder why the White Fang would be more popular with the "scarier" faunus. Public perception is already against them, so it's not going to change much for them if they join a violent organization, but this in turn will be seen as justification for discrimination against these types of faunus. A hellish self-perpetuating cycle

These faunus would also be far more likely to experience violence at a much younger age, akin to how black children are treated as adults even if they're literally six years old

The strategy behind nonviolent protest like the ones Dr King did is to show the world the mistreatment of the innocent, but when your existence is deemed a threat, there's little hope that you'll ever get enough support to change the system. This is why bigots constantly spew the "queer groomer" and black crime "statistics": by portraying someone's freedom as a danger to the innocent, any level of violence is justifiable defense. The police aren't attacking queers, black, and brown folk discriminately, they're attacking dangerous criminals, so it's okay!!1!

Theater can't save those already condemned and to try is wasted effort
