Like Loumand-hate vexing aside, there actually is something truly insideous about reducing the complete absence of Jacob & Assad interviews and even questions pertaining to eachother this promo cycle to "they don't like Loumand". It not about Loustat vs. Loumand, or which actors are insane about eachother, It's the fact that this season hinges on the rise and fall of the relationship of queer black/brown men and AMC and interviewers alike sidelined that dynamic the entire time. You would not know from press that Assad is co-leading and the only time Jacob and Assad even talk about eachother is in reference to the ep 5 argument being their first scene together. Like, it would be willfully ignorant to ignore how Lestat is as present in this season because producers had no faith in the strength of the rest of the cast, and how Jacob and Assad are only ever paired up with their white co-workers who simply are not as essential to the season as they are to eachother.

In a show about toxic relationships and the way trauma lingers and effects one's ability to interact with another- There is so much to talk about between Louis and Armand. It is not only a diservice to a large chunk of the performances being given, but also to the story itself. I can sit here and wax about how these 77 years together are still worthy of discussion and careful consideration but the truth is- I wouldn't be writing this post if one or both of them were white. If Armand were still that redheaded russian boy we would have a wealth of promo and playing up the romance at the heart of their relationship all the way to the divorce hearings. But because our leading men are Black and South Asian, instead POC are asking you once again to please give a fuck about us even when a white person isn't around for you to latch on to.

#asunder #kerstin hall #aroaessidhe 2024 reads #okay SUPER fascinating worldbuilding with some very visceral creatures and biological constructs and interesting magic systems.#many things I like. A great cast of characters. Honestly I could read tons more stories set in this world.#it’s very slow building and meandering narratively; focusing on the complex journey of the main character #didn’t love the audio narration tbh - it felt like some lines are read with the wrong emphasis or tone? but I got used to it after a while #So this has one of my absolute favourite tropes (bodysharing.) unfortunately it turns it into a romance which is. well.#it just doesn’t hit the same if you make it romantic!! so that kinda made it change traintracks from being on a direct line to #potentially 5 stars to a whole different station where i do not live. lol.#I SUPPOSE it’s a well developed relationship and I’d prefer romances more like that than instalove I guess.#I did love their dynamic; too; but suddenly realising it was romantic threw me for a loop. That one chef saying that the worst thing about a bad boss is how they unlock that behavior in you and seeing Carmy mirror the attitude of the chef that terrorized him and gave him panic attacks and then ending the season with Syd having a panic attack because of the stress of working with Carmy...diabolical.

#idk if it's a little too on the nose or not (i literally just finished the season so i haven't had time to sit with it) but that whole #element is so interesting (and so devastating). and the ways that mirrors all of Nat's worries about continuing the dysfunction of her #family now that she has a kid...#i also think its a good portrayal of how not addressing your trauma and leaving things to fester can end up hurting other people way more #than it hurts you. like even if Carmy is okay with choosing to not have a life or to be close with anyone (which. debatable) he's #not the only one whose life gets fucked by that. the mess just radiates out until it hits everyone around him and he ends up creating #the same circumstances that caused his dysfunction in the first place.#even if evil joel mchale chef is right (a+ casting btw very punchable face) and carmy needs to ruin his life to be a good chef #--which is a big if--he's actively making the people around him less able to do their jobs. which then makes the people around them #less able. and so on. so in the end it's still net negative. and like. chef terry proves that he's actually completely wrong #the environment in her kitchen is the exact opposite and everyone is operating at an insane level anyway no abuse necessary #this season was definitely the weakest of the 3 but i rly wanna see where they go next. and they better drop the next bit soon bc that was #in no way complete #the bear #the bear season 3 #carmy berzatto #sydney adamu #the bear spoilers

It's eternally a little funny whenever I see someone say something along the lines of 'everyone in Strive is so happy now! Everyone's stories are getting resolved! It'll be hard to make a new game when everyone's retired and living peacefully and resolved their problems' and then there's a haunted semi-sentient mecha corpse in the corner constantly screaming from being trapped in limbo

#nothing against the character reworking it's just funny in a fucked up way #everyone get a happy ending!*#*(except for you Romeo)#when I go back and rewatch Xrd vs Strive it's kinda jarring since you have a whole fleshed out character and now he's just kinda conceptual #like sure obviously he's dead but he himself is just sorta mentioned in passing by a couple of people #they didn't even go with the interpretation of 'oh his spirit passed on in AS/story mode'#and based on the character theme it really just reads as 'I'm trapped in neverending hell and my sister's presence is the only distraction'#half the cast is retiring and Romeo is reenacting I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream #idk I could be overthinking it but that whole segment of plotline bugs me in the weirdest way #wish it was more conclusive. wish it had more continuity from xrd. wish more than like two people in universe acknowledged it #how it's presented and how it's treated feels like it has a schism where things don't quite match up #bleh. at the very least there could have been a special intro with Axl #the ending of arcade mode is so abrupt it's almost a little silly #'ahh okay your brother's ghost/a lingering fragment of his soul is desperate to kill himself let's not touch on that much further'#maybe it'd be better if everyone had outtro dialogue like in xrd...?#guilty gear #bedman #delilah #op back on her bullshit

I don’t have much credible experience with coloring traditional art—usually just doodling or sketching in my spare time for fun. But I’ve wanted to try expanding the different mediums I use and letting myself learn from them. It’s a nice change of pace and allows me to take a step back from responsibilities. And I’ve needed an excuse to keep working in this sketchbook so here we are!! I think in the end of this I might’ve treated the watercolors too similar to acrylic paints lol. Ah oh well all part of the ✨learning experience ✨
