“YA lost heir fantasy books are a staple of the YA fantasy genre. You cannot look me in the eye and tell me you aren’t obsessed with an unlikely heir who claws their way out of obscurity to reclaim their ancestral throne. There are dresses and sword fights and monsters and subterfuge, and even a bit of romance. It’s fun, I promise.
Runaway heirs have their reasons for getting out. But, in the lost heir trope, there is an understanding that they will have to come back. A kingdom is about to crumble under the rule of a cruel tyrant. A too-young heir must now reclaim their throne. Even better — a teen with an unknown royal lineage discovers they now have to rule. These books all have a lost teen heir to something and are often in a fantasy setting of some kind.“

I wished that love could be simple, that it was always given and returned in the same measure, equally and at the same time, that all the planets aligned in a perfect way to dispel all doubts, that it was easy to understand and never painful.

Tavish grinned. “You know, if you die in this battle, you won’t have to marry anyone.”
I choked mid-sip, spilling water down my shirt. “Well, that’s a bright thought. Thanks.”
“I’m a tactician. Always thinking.”
I don't which one of Rafe's friends is my ultimate favorite. They're all so fine and funny in their own ways 🥹

Resenha: The Kiss of Deception, de Mary E. Pearson
Tumblr media
Livro: The Kiss Of Deception Série: #1 - Crônicas de Amor & Ódio Autora: Mary E. Pearson Gênero: Fantasia Ano de Publicação: 2016 Editora: Darkside Páginas: 384 Classificação: +14
NOTA: 🌟🌟🌟🌟 - 4/5

✩☄️📜 Review:
There is no better way to return to the Remnant Universe than reading Pearson’s expanded prequel!
After learning bits and pieces about Morrighan and Jafir in Pearson’s other works, I enjoyed getting the opportunity to finally read from their perspectives! Pearson allows the reader to view what life was like for both characters after the Devastation. Their gradual development from enemies existing in rival camps to lovers braving hardships together gripped me like no other novel and brought tears to my eyes.
In addition to Morrighan and Jafir’s story, the prequel includes gorgeous interior illustrations by Kate Ohara. Ohara does a fantastic job capturing Morrighan and Jafir’s budding romance on the page. The illustrations in conjunction with Pearson’s text immerses readers in the world of the Remnant and creates a storybook feel that mirrors the tales Morrighan told to her tribe.
“Morrighan” will forever be one of my favorite works by Pearson. Readers often skip prequels because they view them as unnecessary, but “Morrighan” truly is a must read for fans of The Remnant Chronicles and the Dance of Thieves duology!

I understood monuments now. Some were built of stone and sweat, and others were built of dreams, but they were all made of the things we didn't want to forget.

Page 36 of The Beauty of Darkness
Orrin snorted. “All she needs is one look at my pretty face, and she’d call it off with you. Besides, I’m an archer. I bring home dinner. What do you have to offer?”
Bruh, I'm so in love with Rafe's friends. They're all green flags. Orrin, who cooks. Jeb, who is a fashionista. Tavish, who plans. Sven, who thinks before he speaks. And Rafe himself... Mm Mmm mMMmm.

Don't be afraid, child, The stories are always there.
─ Mary E. Pearson, The Kiss of Deception
This has always been my favorite quote. You look around and find stories in everything. In everyone. I've always felt grounded when I do this. And I find it amusing how, in that moment, we're connected by the fate that brought us together. But none of us gives a fuck.

I’ve started to re-read Remnant Chronicles again 😭 The thing is i was 17 when i first read the first book(now 24) and i couldn’t read the last one because the publisher in my country decided to not publish the last book 😒 So i did only read the first two books. And because of my unsufficient English before i’ve couldn’t end it in original language. But now i am ready to read again and i already re-read the Kiss of Deception. How. Much. I. Miss. My. Babies!
Lia&Rafe have a very special corner in my heart and i thought about them a lot. They always reminds me not to force people/ yourself for something, just let it go and water will find its way. I wished remnant chronicles has an active fandomship but i can handle about it i think 😕
