I just saw your impdog fanart and I have never saw them as a ship before. So I just wanted to ask... Why? (If this comes across as sarcastic, I'm sorry. I'm actually interested)

it’s okay!! i don’t see them as strictly a ship, i just think their dynamic has a lot of potential :)

most of it derives from wild life, specifically ren killing impulse and impulse taking it VERY personally. what makes them even more fun is ren’s desperate insistence on making it up to him vs impulse’s tendency to hold a nasty grudge >.<

i find that dynamic SO interesting especially since impulse has always been fairly quiet about his grudges towards the people he holds grudges towards (ex. bdubs), meanwhile he’s VERY vocal about it with ren. it’s refreshing.

what’s also refreshing is ren feeling BAD for what he did. impulse has never had somebody genuinely apologize to him, let alone go out of their way to try and make up for their misdeed. going from constantly having his trauma belittled and made fun of to having someone feel awful for hurting him and wanting to be better for him must be such a jarring change.

that’s part of why i think impulse was SO reluctant to let ren in and believe him; he’s just waiting for the next shoe to drop, for some sort of caveat, because nobody is ever ACTUALLY sorry, right?? except ren is. and impulse doesn’t know how to wrap his head around that.

ren is just such a wet dog around him in wild life (ESPECIALLY post-session three) and that mixed with impulse’s defensiveness and paranoia makes me feel like they could be a really cool duo :D

The detail of The Box being there in the background containing the documents but the phone lying outside of it but just beside it coupled with the fact that Carlos is the one who’s like ‘It’s our day of I thought we were gonna sleep in’! SO SYMBOLIC!! Of the fact that he IS making progress he IS being more present but the box wasn’t a resolution it never could be a magical fix, he still needs closure and justice, and so the phone it BESIDE The Box but the box is still being used!!! You know? he’s kept his promise but not a 100% bc the promise of being able to leave it behind completely was always a bit too big of a promise (also one that he didn’t make or that TK ever asked for is important to note.)

That image of The Box and the phone and Sweatpants aka ‘they were supposed to sleep in’ depicts PERFECTLY that it is better but this Jonah situation is making it not happen fast enough because now these two very Big and Valid things they’re each grappling with and need each other for is in Conflict with one another and it makes the progress they’ve made, which the Box symbolizes, not enough bc it’s incompatible with TK needing to make this decision and needing Carlos there with him at least in grappling with it!!

So I was going to write "can't work on my Star Wars shipfic, too busy reading about shipping," and then I started to think about Star Wars shipping. As in, logistics. We know the Star Wars universe has containerization because we see it all the time. What they don't have is any standardization. They've got huge containers, they've got small containers, they've got them stacked up every which way in ports and on ships mixed together with breakbulk and even with antigravs and tractor beams the efficiency has to be taking a major hit. This. This is what Eli Vanto's true calling should have been. This is what Thrawn robbed the universe of by pulling him off the supply officer track. He could have brought the Empire the efficiencies of true container shipping and instead he's off saving the Unknown Regions or some shit. Guess it falls to our friend Syril Karn at the Imperial Bureau of Standards to sort it out a decade later. Too bad he's fixated on other things.
