"What?" Dustin squeaks, alarmed. "What? Steve, you're freaking me out!"

"Good!" Because Steve just worked eighteen hours and it's past midnight and he got thrown up on twice and there was a bed pan incident and even though he showered at the hospital he probably smells awful and it rained and he lost his keys so he had to take the bus and he's sweaty and tired and wet and cold and Dustin's DnD friend is hot. "I can't believe you'd do this to me!" Okay, maybe Steve's feeling a little delirious.

"Do what??" Dustin is full on shrieking right now. His hot friend is standing in their apartment looking more and more worried and hot.

"You didn't tell me he was hot!"

The expressions that go across Dustin's face is impressive, before they stop and he settles on a flat glare. "Seriously??"

Hot guy is now blushing and Steve will collapse if he doesn't keep with the righteous fury.

"I've been TRYING to get you two to meet for months now!"

"You didn't tell me he was hot, though! Dustin!!"

"I don't know what guys are hot, Steve!" Dustin says indignantly. "I thought you didn't like nerds!"

"Um," says hot guy. He looks like he's panicking.

Dustin's face changes again. "Oh, no. Oh, no, you're right."

"All this time!" Steve says and he really is close to tears. "You've been nagging on me all this time to find my soulmate, and you had the perfect guy right here?? You had him in my home??? Dustin!"

"Whoa," whispers hot guy.

"I'm sorry," Dustin wails now, just as distraught. "You love nerds, all your favorite people are nerds, I don't know what I was thinking, oh my god!" He whirls on hot guy. "Eddie, give Steve your number right now!"

"Okay," says hot guy Eddie, immediately. His face is super red and his eyes are wide, and he looks scared out of his mind as he fumbles his pocket for his phone. "Yeah-Yep-Absolutely. This is a thing that's happening."

Steve, tears burning in his eyes, watches as Dustin punches his number into Eddie's phone. "Okay," he says a little nasally, wiping quickly at his face. "Okay, I'm going to shower and then sleep for two days, and then pretend like this never happened so I can look hot guy in the eye when he asks me on a date. Sound good?"

"Sounds great!" Dustin says, all cheery now. Behind him, still looking vaguely scared for his life, hot guy gives him a shaky thumbs up.

I feel like everytime the batkids are together in the comics and Bruce tells them to not do something, just after he left, Dick turns to his siblings to be like "So, what we do here is never listen to B. So we are going to do it." and one of them will be like "This is not going to end well.", and they follow Dick in the danger Bruce told them to stay away from.

It's incredible how Bruce still trust Dick SO MUCH when he is pulling this bs ALL THE TIME.

In defense of Sevika.

I happened upon a post not too long ago saying that Sevika was not cool as a character, she was overrated. The person asked what was so great about her. And in the comments only said she was hot. Buff. Tall and dark-skinned. Surface stuff. And it irritated me to no end that Arcane fans are so shallow as to reduce Sevika to how attractive they find her. It makes sense when you look at her tag.

There's never anything of substance, only x reader fics, and thinly veiled fetishization. No character study, hardly any analysis of her role in the story of Arcane. The story of Zaun. It's a trend I'm seeing, characters being reduced to an object of desire and fetishized in the tags. (It's okay to find a character attractive, but when the only thing you can say to someone is that the character is hot when asked why you like them??? :/) But that's not what I'm here to talk about.

In defense of Sevika, she is more than her looks. She is strength, she is struggle, she is visionary. Yes, she is attractive but there's so much more to her. Think of her loyalty and love for Zaun. It is UNPARALLELED. Her dedication to the city that raised her defines her.

Sevika is multifaceted and literally THE driving force in Zaun. She makes things happen. Sevika is an echo of Mel, in that she is Zaun's kingmaker. She made Silco, and unmade Vander. She is objective, and she is capable of seeing what needs to be done, and the potential in a person for getting it done.

Sevika's loyalty is to her city, and if she believes in you, she will give you her influence. Her Might. Just like Mel believed in Jayce and granted him the funding and power needed to fulfill his vision, is that same person in Zaun. Only, her currency is fear, respect, blood on her fist. Her ability to rally those around her and inspire them.

At most Silco simply uses her as his enforcer, and I really believe Sevika is capable of more than just being a follower and catering the every need of other characters. She has a tendency to protect the things she cares about with her body because that's all she has. She jumped before Silco, to protect him from the blast. She protected Jinx and Isha with her body without a second thought. She is selfless if she believes in someone, their use for the cause of Zaun. Season 1 really had her in a box, and season 2 seemed to give her more agency, until she was used as a prop for Jinx. That irks me to no end. More than anything, she wants a united Zaun, and I believe the show ending on with Sevika on the Council was a disservice to her arc, but she's front as center, fighting for her city as she was always meant to be.

Please, appreciate her more. She has a story worth thinking about, she is a character worth understanding.

Finarfin Fades.

No one expects it, no one’s faded in Valinor since Miriel. The War of Wrath is won and he comes back, waving off the courtiers, well wishers, and congratulators with his usual grace, and walks into the palace of Tirion. To rooms abandoned since their owners left so long ago. Winding deeper and deeper his feet take him to what was once Finwë’s favourite garden.

He’s so tired.

He’s fulfilled his promise to Fëanaro and Nolofinwë, to avenge them. To make the agony of their final moments - agony Finarfin felt, falling to the floor screaming as fire and darkness consumed his spirit - count for something. Now Morgoth is finally gone, but he’s not the only one.

His brothers, larger than life, larger than death, are gone. With them his sons. Niece. Nephews. Grandchildren. His daughter is never to return. He Saw little Nelyo’s death in his dreams and is sure hopes for the child’s own sake that Makalaurë will be close behind.

Little remains. Even less on these golden shores.

So Finarfin sits on a bench long overgrown with vines and weeds, and watches the sun filter through the thicket, wishing the ghosts he sees in his father’s garden would flesh out.

He sits. He waits.

And by the time anyone finds him, it’s too late.

…at least he’s smiling again.
