shortly afterward, i took over. the plan was to drive as long aspossible due west, along smaller highways, possibly all the way to st. george. neither of us really had it in us thoc 'o we had to stop around 10, in kayenta. still, thats a solid 13 hours of travel, some of them extremely stressful. i dont think we did too bad at all.

yesterday, we went from kayenta to primm. i originally wanted to sleep in goodsprings, but upon cursory research, turns out its a ghost town witha population of 160, no hotels. didnt have it in us to camp last night, so we stayed in the buffalo bill resort and casino. the inspiration for the bison steve resort in nv!! this is honestly the nicest hotel room ive ever been in, and the price is 10 dollars more than our motel 6 in laramie. highly recommend if ur in primm for some reason.

Once in his arm, you hid your face in his shoulder and kept one hand clutched to the collar of his shirt. The shaky staggered breaths you were releasing broke his heart, the only thought in his mind was that he just needed to get you outside. He could help you outside.

Thankfully he found an emergency exit sooner rather than later and next thing you know, the cool air hit your face, crisp and in an instant.

A few steps outside and your boyfriend turned his head to you before whispering, “I’m gonna put you down now in the grass, okay?” With a slight nod, you were gently placed down. Your breathing had lulled and you quietly reached one hand up to wipe the tears that trailed down your face while the other stayed planted in the soft grass.

Standing beside you, Katsuki was looking out into the trees surrounding the house, his eyebrows drawn together with his jaw clenching and unclenching. You had made him mad, you just knew it.

More tears began to escape your waterline, the sniffle you made caught his attention.

Red eyes now wide and looking down at you, guilt shot through chest hard.

“Kats-suki, I’m s-sorr-ry. I jus-st wanted to go out w-ith yo-u and I rui-nned it.”

“Y/n…” He sighed and crouched down to your level, “I know you’ve been stressed. You can’t push yourself like that, stupid girl.” He cups your face and catches a falling tear with his big calloused thumb.

You close your eyes and lean into his touch.

“Okay, we’re going to go back to the apartment and spend the night watching scary movies since you can’t seem to handle dealing with jump scares in person,” He smirked, “and you can cling onto me as much as you’d like… scaredy-cat.”

His words were underlined with an inviting warmth that you greeted without delay by sniffling and letting out an airy chuckle. Katsuki ran his thumb over your cheek once more before asking how your legs felt and if you think you could walk.

Trying to use your words, you let out a shaky, “I can t-try.”

Extending his hand to follow you up, your knees wobbled and you fell into his homely hold.

Leaning into him, you both walked back to the entrance before calling a cab and heading back to your place. The whole time, you were looking at how your boyfriend glowed under the street lights, his beautiful blonde hair softly glowed an orange halo around his head. The lighting hadn’t done the trees justice as it had with your boyfriend, it only made the wilting trees look more sorrowful as a few leaves broke away from the branches.

Now curled up under the softest blanket you could find with an oversized tee and fluffy socks on, you curled closer to Katsuki as you stared at the screen in dread. Freddy Kruger walked down a dark and eerie alleyway, his arms swaying, freakishly stretched out and knives scratching the buildings he was in between. The image alone caused goosebumps to rise on your skin. Bakugo could feel the small prickles under his palm that rested on your thigh.

Pulling you close, he murmured in your ear, “Baby, don’t worry,” the chuckle that came from his chest was deep and whole. He raised a hand from under the blanket and you heard the infamous crackles before watching sparks fly from his palm, “he wouldn’t dare to hurt you. Not while I am around.”

A small giggle left you as your gaze settled on your man.

It’s 2 am at the local seven-eleven, you’re really only there to buy bread. You need bread to make some fucking toast because your stomach will not stop rumbling and you can’t keep anything else down- and so here you are.

Bugs flicker in the yellow lights as you pull up, vision blurry with exhaustion. You haven't slept in at least 34 hours, but who's counting?

You’re hoping you won’t run into trouble- but you usually avoid seven-elevens at this time of night because of the trouble they cause. From cat-calling pervs to drug dealers- seven-eleven at night was a completely different atmosphere. Especially this one. It’s too close to the college campus for your liking, but the one by your house is closed. Of fucking course.

Slamming the car into park, you fall out of the door. Sweat sticks your hair to your forehead and your mouth is bone dry. The summer air is uncomfortably warm, causing your shirt to stick to your back.

Bread. Fucking bread. That’s all you need.

Before you can stumble through the doors, a voice calls out to you from the shadows. “Kid,” it slurs, "you ‘right?”

“Yes,” you breathe and pull on the handle. It’s locked. Fuck.

“Waddya need?” A man- a boy, really, he’s not much older than you- steps out of the shadows. His eyes are dark and heavy as they trace down your body slowly.

You feel exposed. “Jus’ need some bread,” you mutter.

“Bread?” He laughs, approaching you with a few slow but large steps. Now, in the low light, you can see he's tall and fitted with a well-worn leather jacket. You tug on the handle.

“That door ain’t gonna open, doll. Those cashiers’re screwing in the back room and they don’t give two shits about your... bread.” He tilts his head back, dark eyes glinting in the low light.

“I’m, uh, I guess I’ll just go home then,” you mutter, turning to your car.

“Woah-ho kid, where you going?” The blond boy asks, leaning against the brick wall. He tilts a bottle to his lips, spilling some of it down his chin. He doesn’t seem to notice.

“What’s goin on?”

You shrug simply. “I just don’t feel so good.”

“Don’t feel so good?” He laughs, a small smirk playing at the ends of his lips.

“Y’know what’ll fix that?”

Shaking your head, you look at the ground. You’re not sure what he wants, but it can’t be good... right?

“Here, take this,” he says, thrusting the bottle towards you, a tiny amount splashing from the open rim. You jump back, eyes growing steely.

“Woah there cowboy,” he says, chuckling. “It’s just a little tequila.”

You stare at the bottle, a headache pounding its way into your skull. Something should feel off- but somehow, it doesn't.

“Uh, yeah- no thanks-“

He rolls his eyes. “It’s not fuckin’ drugged. I just took a swill of it, you saw me.” The orange lights flicker over his face.

He doesn’t look as scary now- maybe twenty at most, and his lips are cracked and raw. His eyes are ringed with dark circles, but they’re not the narrowed predator’s eyes that you've seen before.

Just glazed, slightly unfocused, and maybe a tiny bit bloodshot. It's hard to make out in this light. His hands shake slightly, but his gaze is calm and collected.

“Here, take it,” he says, holding out the bottle again.

Hesitantly, you grasp the cheap plastic in your fingers. He looks at you expectantly.

“You know, you're supposed to drink it. It’ll help your stomach.”

It burns your nose and mouth when you bring it to your lips, taking a huge gulp. It stings as it falls down into your stomach, igniting the contented

“Jesus- fuck,” you gasp, coughing harshly.

He takes the bottle back. “Hell, fuckin' big gulp... You drink?”

You nod, willing your stomach to be strong. You clutch it tightly, hoping you won’t puke all over the sidewalk in front of the convenience store.

“Goddamn,” he laughs, throwing his head back and swigging the tequila. “How old are ya? Sixteen?”

You don’t answer, just stare at the ground as the warmth starts to flood through your veins. Tequila always burns your skin up- it makes your tongue swell and your cheeks turn red... But hey, at least your stomach feels a bit better.

“I’m Steve, by the way,” he says, sticking out a hand. You ignore it. He thinks, then asks, “...want more?”

You snatch the bottle from his outstretched hand. Your head is spinning a little faster now, the shadows are long and weird.

You stare at your hands- Fuck. You can’t fucking drive. You start towards your car, still clutching the bottle. “Woah, woah, hold on,” he says, stumbling after you.

“You jus’ had like, a couple a’ shots of tequila. You are not driving any fuckin’ car.”

“Watch me,” you reply lowly, getting into the driver's seat.

“Hold on-“ he says. “Just stay here.”

You shake your head and slam the door shut behind you, turning the car on. Stepping on the gas, you accelerate out of the parking lot- and... right into a fucking concrete divider.

The impact slams your head to the side, worsening your already aching skull.

“Shit!” You bellow sharply, slamming the steering wheel with tight fists.

Steve is there in an instant, still holding the bottle.

“I told you...” he says, smiling a bit.

“Fuck off,” you growl through gritted teeth.

Your life flashes before your eyes. DUI. MIP. Car accident. Money. Your parents are going to fucking gut you. Tears prick your eyes, then slowly sliding down onto your red cheeks.

“Hey, hey, hold on,” Steve says. “Stop. Stop. Stop thinking.”

“What?” You ask, sniffing. "What the fuck does that mean?!"

“Don’t think about that shit. I saw you doing it. It-It's not a problem. Right now, you can wait until tomorrow. Tomorrow is a good time to deal with this. Right now?” He shakes his head.

“No. Now is for getting as drunk as you can, so you don’t have to think about it.” He offered a small smile, a kind one.

You can’t argue with his logic, so you follow him out of the smashed car and to where he had been standing, taking a seat on the curb. An ice cooler runs behind you to you as you pass bottles back and forth, numbing your mind and tongue.

Steve turns out to be surprisingly fascinating for a person from Hawkins, but more importantly, he was nice. You wish you could talk to him forever...

You spend the entire night with your new friend, until you wake up, that is.

Your head is pounding from a hangover and from being violently thrown to the side... Once awake, even though your vision is blurred, you can see your parents standing over you.

Shit. Fuck. FUCK.

You crashed a fucking car at the seven eleven while you were drunk. You look around for Steve- for his support- but he’s gone. He probably left when the sun rose...

All that’s left is a number scribbled on the back of a receipt and an empty tequila bottle at your side, which you can’t even hope to hide.

You are, officially, fucked.

anyways i love how gon is increasingly approaching situations with his Plucky Shounen Protag Attitude in full swing, and he pretty much gets shot down every time. BUT his general determination to see killua bc killuas his FRIEND and hes gonna RESCUE HIM is still a good and pure motivating force 

like here, when hes climbing over the wall and hes like whatever i dont wanna have to deal w/being tested thats bullshit, i wanna see killua, my intentions are pure, im gonna try my luck with the dog....i was like ok yeah he’ll get over and like tame or defeat the dog and the guard will be suitably impressed bc nobodys ever done That before, and then gon will continue on to get killua 

but NOPE instead the guard calls him down and explains that gon Will Die if he tries that, and then the guard will die too for letting that happen. and gon is like oh shit my actions have consequences for people other than me, wow. 

and THEN the guard takes them in to meet the dog. and hot DAMN that is a scary creature. not even really a dog tbh. they did an excellent job making the dog Legit Scary and not just like, big and flashy looking....those eyes are so soulless, and the proportions are freaky 

and the guard says exactly what i was thinking - that gon would use his Country Boy Woodland Creature Skills to workaround the dog....but then the subversion - this creature is NOTHING like the woodland critters gon is probably used to dealing with. theres no way gon stood a chance here. the guard just saved him from a really unfortunate death 

i love all the Super Heavy Stuff in the servant house that seems so inconvenient vbhjdkfasjfld. also forgot to mention earlier but the guard guy being Absolutely Ripped was wild and kinda funny 

training montage! gon continues to be so cute. and i love so much how leorio and kurapika are like no, you rest, we’ll take care of this. good parents!!!!

homegirl (me) cried watching the first twenty minutes of it!!! full bawling!!! those backstory scenes were brutal!!! literally and to my heart!!! also any movie that starts with a worker protest and continues to pepper in scenes of workers protesting their higher ups for more humane hours n wages is good :3

bet BET i BET the teenage boy that mentored young sancaka will come back mark my words if he doesnt ill be disappointed i love their weird dynamic !! also love the subtle “respect all jobs” message bc the main hero was a factory security guard !!

some scenes in this movie struck me to my core:

- kid watching the news abt gundala and seeing some like men outside wrecking shit up and he standa up to them and says stop and you as the audience is like oh this tiny dude gonna get beat up but then the other citizens march and stands beside him and the scawy men walks away

- they did a good job making one place/angle/scene scary and tense like everytime you see that place again you feel dread and danger coming e.g the place where cars are stopped by the rails and street performers(??) come up to the car to get some money. so much shit goes on there everytime i see it im like oh FUCK here we go. thats why that one scene where the dude just drives up alone and passes safely im like huh. esp the scene prior to that in that locations which brings me to

- the car dancer scene. holy fuck. esp after reading that one hrror thread i got fucking chills!!! the indonesian dude who played in john wick(his name escapes me). back to the car with the mask on the back of his head. the guy in the car scrambling in fear. the shot of the empty field and the one dancer in the middle with the mask and he walks towards the car and gundala appears im like shit!!! fuck!!! by far my favorite unsettling scene of the movie

- the scenes of the orphans in their now successful job getting calls from “Bapak”. that was cool as hell. also i love how even though the supposed antagonist of the movie with the burned face was bad and all, you still second guess who you root for (well for me at least) esp the orphans he raised and grew alongside of and trained as assassins like its bad and all but theyre just paying back the guy who gave them chances to succeed.

- before the final fight where the assassins just kills a buncha guys. i think the dancer scene was part of this montage. the normal people finding bodies of the guys they killed. FUCK i was :O the whole time

- the final fight??? with the themed opponents??? different fighting styles according to their profession??? FUCK thats my shit!!! the costumes for that was so fucking cool. ive said cool too much i think. my favorite of them is the model and the batshit crazy student. the model was badass and her boots with the big sharp spike??? ??? woah???!!!!!! also the student was like. i feel her. just fuckin yelling and shit in uniform. the orphans raised as assassins with distinct fighting styles felt like they could be in a character selection screen in a fighting game. also they’ll come back i know it i KNOW also the part where the guy yelled “Bapak!!!!” when the dude got shot i was like oh shit. theyll come back. for vengeance

- the last scene what the fuck!!! its some avatar out of the iceberg shit. second fav unsettling scene was the cracking of the joints when he comes back alive. also the head. the head.

- when pev pearce appeared in the front of the car as sri asih i audibly gasped. the after credits scene too. cant fucking wait for her movie. fuck

people say like the cgi isnt as good as marvels and Of Course its not as good as that multibillionaire company but it was good. i rarely go to movies except if i rly want to watch em so i rarely see movies made in indonesia (the fault is on me!!! i should watch more of em!!!) but the movie hit me different because literally every other person i couldve seen st the streets. in the mall. maybe my aunt’s friend. maybe my distant cousin. it feels so good to see faces familiar to mine and it was SO MUCH EASIER to put myself in their shoes. also the locations like i couldve passed that street the other day. i probably saw that alleyway somewhere. every scene meant to break my heart DID because other than the amazing acting, all their faces are so familiar and close. representation matters and thats the final message of this long long rant

ok time to talk about st thats on my mind a lot and I usually never mention bc this is tumblr lol I have complicated feelings on what's ok wrt kink and "problematic" ships (for lack of a better word) Starting with kink: on the one hand now that I'm not in the midst of having rape and ddlg kinks used to further traumatize me I can absolutely understand why it makes survivors uncomfortable when non survivors engage in those things. I do feel fucked up and hurt and upset when I see people on here say they want someone to rape them bc it's ~sexy~ bc like...........no you fucking don't!!!!! Stop twisting my trauma into something desirable you fuck!!!!!!!!!!!! But on the other hand I think trying to police what people do to get themselves off (when not hurting anyone obv) is not only useless, but also paves the way for this disgusting culture of strangers demanding intimate details of your past trauma so they can decide if what you're into is acceptable or not. It ends up being just as fucked up as seeing that kink shit in the first place imo. Not to mention it pushes people who are actually being harmed by it further into the arms of their abusers. And then it's also even more confusing for survivors like me who sometimes still use stuff like that to get off bc it's all we know?? Like it's already triggering but then it adds on even more guilt and shame which is super tough to deal with. A much more healthy thing would be more discussions in consent and red flags in kink culture so people can more easily keep themselves safe....I guess like at the end of the day while I don't love my trauma being such a huge aspect of kink culture, I ultimately don't think trying to stop it is useful or even that positive. There are better ways to keep people safe as there is no possible way of getting rid of that stuff entirely. If you claim to want to keep survivors (and especially kids) safe from this stuff then you have to know that alienation and attacking are not as impactful as frank discussions and safety?? And a lot of this ties in with the shipping stuff too imo. Like I shipped a fuck ton of pedophilic and abusive ships as a kid bc I romanticized my abuse and would never ever have even described it as abusive. I latched onto that stuff "to cope" so to speak. It wasn't healthy or good for me.......but people yelling about how toxic and evil people who ship that are weren't going to make me stop doing it. All they'd do was make me defensive and angry and cling to it more because admitting the ship was awful would be admitting that awful things were happening to me. I also think there's a big difference between certain things that people like to talk about as if they're the same. For example, adults shipping something pedophilic is disgusting and scary and is not the same thing as people shipping reylo. Like you don't have to like or trust people who ship stuff like that either but it's just not.........the same level of fucked up???? And it feels kind of minimizing to act like they are the same tbh. Adults who engage in "fictional pedophilia" are most likely pedophiles, but that's just not necessarily true for other kinds of problematic ships. As usual I think tumblr needs more room for nuance. Things aren't always 100% black and white, and that's coming from a borderline lmfao.
