EHEHEE YAY I LOVE ASKS LIKE THIS!! don't mind me rambling about how i got into it :3

i watched the lion guard originally as a young teen! my memories are foggy, so i can't say how much i liked it, but i do remember ono being my favourite and that i watched enough to remember a lot of the episodes when i revisited it a few years later. i rewatched it out of childhood nostalgia and curiosity - i wanna say around 2020 maybe? - and developed a hyperfixation on it, specifically on janja! back then, i kinda only cared about his character and a few others such as timon, pumbaa, scar and kiburi, though janja was the character who i was actually interested in. i had even bought a lion king notebook to write a snippet of an au i had for him, i still have it lmaoo

because of how my hyperfixations work, i get obsessed over one fandom for a while until it switches to another. for instance, most of last year i hyperfixated on the madagascar movies - those periods of hyperfixating would last anywhere from hours to months until shifting to, for example, the lion guard. it also wasn't my main fandom at the time, madagascar was. that changed in november last year, when i found that there was a LOT of cool lion guard content on here (especially @devilsrecreation's outlanders posts!). i began to interact a little bit which made me hyperfixate on it even more. i made my first lion guard post in december, and that's where my posting and very long hyperfixation on it began!! since then i've had like a landslide of constant thoughts about this silly show, and i've picked up a lot of new favourite characters along the way (such as kiburi and his float, beshte, goigoi, dogo, literally all of the outlanders...). i've barely shifted hyperfixations since then and the show has very swiftly become a favourite media of mine! :3

so, i guess seeing content being made AND making my own has made me hyperfixate on it endlessly (/pos btw). i've specifically hyperfixated on the outlanders as you can probably tell lol. essentially, ✨the power of hyperfixations✨ lead me to being on and posting on this site, but the show has always been for me since i was a teen c:

Whats the last movie you watched? Fifth Element, I think.

What was your worst subject in high school? Maths probably, I was also terribly bad at French but I cannot call it my worst subject considering the everlasting friendship forged in the Frendship (French hardship). Le premier étage.

What's the job you stayed at for the shortest period of time? I worked for one telemarketing company for 5 days. Earned 0 money. Did 4 days of failing to sell an ok product. Left on the Friday after having called people for 8 hours failing to sell one of the worst fucking deals I'd ever heard of, and just never went baaaaack.

Whats your favorite thing to do at an amusement park? Oh eat food and look at things from a bench? One of those slow-moving swans? I rode a centrifugal nightmare ride about 15 some years ago and it fucked me up for life, can't even read a book on a train anymore, can definitely never ride another amusement park ride. Before that I loved the swings.

What condiments go on top of the perfect hot dog (meat or plant-based)? I'm very basic and just do ketchup and mustard, but I wouldn't say no to trying out anything else if it's offered to me.

Do you sleep with a plushie? Yes, I have one that was given to me when I was born, and one that was my favourite as a child, and one that I bought as an actual adult. They just hang out on a pillow I don't use. The rest of my childhood hoard are in a closet.

How do you feel about thunderstorms? I don't like the feeling leading up to a thunderstorm, the oppressive sticky feeling, but I like it once it starts and the tension breaks. Is cool.

What's the last animal you touched? My perfect boy, the bastard boy next door, and before that a goat friend!

Hobbies: honestly at this point it feels like I don't have any. I like to read/write fic and draw and bake/cook but I haven't done those in ages. Also trying to get back into rock climbing.

If you could have any job you wish, what would it be? Actually would wanna be some type of artist like a pot thrower

Something you're good at: writing I like to think, people seem to tell me so. I'm alright at cooking but I'm not brilliant, I just make nice things that are tasty, nothing fancy.

Something you're bad at: sticking to a timetable and actually doing shit on time

Something you love: I've been missing my family alot lately, I think also bc my childhood dog died new years day and I haven't been able to go back home yet and give her my love in her resting place.

Something you could talk about for hours off the cuff: The X-Files, I mean it's why we are here. Also star trek and doctor who. And also language change over time and variation among dialects is my jam. I mean I could talk for hours on anything I have a base level understanding of. I am a yapper.

If you could travel in time who would you like to meet? Noone in particular I don't think. I'd rather experience the time period. I've always wanted to go to Victorian England. Actually I would like to meet past family members who lived during that time.

Recommend one of your favourite fanfics (spread the love!): I really wanna reccommend Parallax by @dreamingofscully but it isn't up on ao3 anymore. It's such a good story. I think about it often and I'm so glad I had the chance to download it. Although I'm sure if you ask nicely enough jen will send you a file. It's on my to bind list hehe.

what’s your job? i'm currently in that super fun period of being recently graduated with no prospects, no experience, and no network. also a lot of anxiety. i'm working on it.

if you could go back to school, would you? yeah. i still might go back in a few years to do education or something.

can you parallel park? once upon a time i could, but now i don't drive (classic lack of car woes) so i'm pretty comfortable in saying i can't parallel park anymore.

do you think aliens are real? yes, absolutely. i'm not saying i believe that there's a whole civilized society hanging out a few billion light years away, but the category of aliens extends into every living life form, no matter how insentient or microscopic. the universe is simply too vast for me to even entertain the idea that earth is the only planet or other celestial body capable of sustaining plant life or single cell organism or whatnot.

can you drive a manual car? no! tbh at this point it's been so long since i've drove period, that idk if i'm even allowed to say i can drive an automatic lmao

guilty pleasure? i cannot deny that i have spent money on genshin to get characters/weapons and while i fully acknowledge that i've given into the gacha trap, i spend responsibly and never in excess. it's a game i genuinely love and i do believe that adults are free to spend their money wherever they wish. some people buy cigarettes, i buy little anime characters.

tattoos? world's saddest no. i would like to get some tho, i'm just generally the type of person who gets super invested in something for a while and then drops it after a while, which includes tattoo ideas. right now i'm flirting with the cassiopeia constellation (name of my favourite kpop groups fandom), "we don't need the memories" which is a team motto from haikyuu, line art of a cat because i'm a cat person, and some others with personal significance. and some more fandom ones. but fandom ones are finicky so. shrug.

favourite colour? i do dearly love the colour red. also a big fan of taupe, which is. probably the most boring answer i could give. "oh yeah my favourite colour? beige." god.

favourite type of music? to the surprise of hopefully none of you, i'm a kpop fan. i also really love whatever genre of music guys like alexander stewart and lewis capaldi make.

do you like puzzles? yes so much! i got so into a puzzle the other day that i was up until 5am doing it like i fr just didn't notice how long i was doing it 😭

any phobias? i used to have such a bad fear of spiders. now it's just big ones that freak me out or ones that are on me. i'm working on getting over it though. bugs in general make me feel a bit sick to me stomach tho i won't lie.

favourite childhood sport? i used to be a gymnastics kid lol. was super into pro gymnasts for a little bit, but generally it was a sport i preferred actually doing.

do you talk to yourself? yes and it's so embarrassing because i fucking do it in public without realizing. one day i was in the bookstore talking myself through choosing a book to buy when someone turned the corner and was like "oh! it's just you!". that was almost my 13th reason i am so fucking serious.

first thing you wanted to be when growing up? wanted to be a vet soooo bad. then i grew up and realized how scary chemistry and biology are and figured maybe i would leave that to the science brained people 😭

what movies do you adore? well my letterboxd top movies are inception, les miserables, the outsiders, and the old guard which is. sorta accurate. the first three are definitely true. i could slot miracle (2004), brokeback mountain, legally blonde, kingsman, etc. into my fave movies list over TOG if i'm being honest but. yknow how it is.

No, but I live with my parents and my dad is obsessed with the beds being done so he just do it, and then he's like "you are welcome" and I'm like "I literally don't want this".

It's 22, both because it's my birthday and because of Diego Milito 🖤💙

What's your job?

I'm a student. My mum used to own a bookstore so I worked there sometimes (no pay) and then sometimes as book fairs too, but not right now. Sometimes I translate stuff as a job.

If you could go back to school, would you?

I mean. I'm studying a master's degree, so I guess the answer is yes. But am I enjoying it? Not really 😅

Can you parallel park?

I don't know how to drive but I'm taking lessons soon, so I guess I'm learning soon too 🤷🏽‍♀️ I hopefully I'll learn to parallel park.

Do I think there's life in this vast universe? Absolutely. Do I think they are hanging here on earth??? Absolutely not 😅

Football (soccer), I used to like swimming because I like water but only did it for a short period of time. I really liked to watch ice skating and gymnastics when I was a child.

Letterbox four favourite movies!!! The lion king (1995), The Holiday, maybe Midnight in Paris (but problematic) and LOTR (if pressed I would say The Two Towers, but like I love the 3 movies).

1) Last book I read:

I've recently abandoned a couple books without finishing them, so the last book I actually read was Wool by Hugh Howey. It was good! I've heard not everyone loves the sequels so I'm in no hurry to continue the series, but I might someday.

2) A book I recommend:

The Golem and the Jinni by Helene Wecker. Such an amazing book, absolutely killer period-piece historical fantasy, it's got a masterless golem finding purpose, it's got immigrant metaphors and literal immigrants, it's got romance, it's got mysteries, it's got baking, it's everything and you should read it.

3) A book that I couldn’t put down:

In recent memory, what comes to mind is Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. Did you like The Martian? Would you like more of The Martian? Great news, friend. Scratches the same "how do I fix this problem with these limited resources" itch without feeling like a lazy retread of his first book.

4) A book I’ve read twice (or more)

A Closed and Common Orbit by Becky Chambers. Loosely connected sequel to Chambers' The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet, this book narrows its cast to focus in on two characters. I've heard some people say Small, Angry Planet was a little too cozy for them, in which case I would recommend they give A Closed and Common Orbit a shot.

5) A book on my TBR

What Feasts at Night by T. Kingfisher. I picked it up on a whim at a bookstore and I'm excited to get to it - I really enjoyed What Moves the Dead.

6) A book I’ve put down

The Blacktongue Thief by Christopher Buehiman. Not a bad book, I enjoyed what I read of it, I just kind of lost interest in the back half.

7) A book on my wish list

Alien Clay by Adrian Tchaikovsky. I don't think it's out in the U.S. yet, but I'll give anything by this guy a shot.

8) A favourite book from childhood

The Dark Lord of Derkholm by Diana Wynne Jones. Obsessed with this book as a kid, and it still holds up on more recent rereads. Check it out if you haven't already!

9) A book you would give a friend

Sabriel by Garth Nix. This book and its sequels are possibly the most underappreciated fantasy books I can think of. I cannot praise Sabriel, Lirael, and Abhorsen enough. The fandoms for these books should be massive, there should've been a bad movie in the 2000's and a critically acclaimed big-budget streaming show in the 2020's, ComicCons should be brimming with bell bandoliers and glow-in-the-dark charter marks, I don't know why none of this is true but here we are.

10) The most books you own by a single author

That would be my boy Brando Sando. I don't own all his books by a longshot, but I think I have almost 20 of them which makes him the clear winner. Robert Jordan, Garth Nix and Becky Chambers are probably all tied for second place.

11) A nonfiction book you own

I will never, ever pass up an opportunity to talk about How to Invent Everything by Ryan North (the Dinosaur Comics / Squirrel Girl / Got Stuck in a Hole with his Dog guy). Ostensibly a book written in the future for time travelers to use in the event they are stranded in the past, this book walks you through the steps you need to rebuild civilization from the ground up, from farming to animal domestication to basic medicine to smelting, power generation, math, navigation, engineering, chemistry and literally even computer science.

The wildest part? This book is a riot. It is as entertaining as it is interesting. If you only read one non-fiction book for pleasure, make it this one.

12) what are you currently reading

The Ministry for the Future by Kim Stanley Robinson. A near-future climate science geopolitical novel, it's not an easy read and I'm not sure I'll finish it. It is quite good though.

13) what are you planning on reading next?

As mentioned above, probably going to jump into What Feasts at Night when I'm done with Ministry for the Future. It'll be nice to have something short and spooky instead of long, dense and existential!

A gentleman can die for his soulmate (Singing for Jin Ke 咏荆轲 ” written by Tao Yuanming 陶渊明) - Wen Kexing's flirty poetry Episode 8

This is the first time 知己 Zhiji was mentioned in SHL. (omg we're finally at this topic lmao).

The poem “Singing for Jin Ke 咏荆轲 ”  written by Tao Yuanming 陶渊明, a poet in the Jin/Song Dynasty. (It changed from the Eastern Jin to the Southern Song)   It praises Jing Ke’s assassination of the Qin Shi Huang (He was known as King Zheng then).  The poet expresses his dislike of dirty politics and his wish to eradicate violence. 

To put the assassination plot in a nutshell, Jin Ke was supposed to go to Qin to pretend a nobleman from Yan.  He approached the Qin King with a scroll of a map that that a hidden dagger.  Jin Ke tried to stab the King but was apprehended. You can read the entire story here.

This story has been romanticised in modern films and TV shows. The Emperor and the Assassin (1999) starring Gong Li was loosely based off this. And my FAVOURITE Chinese childhood movie, Hero was based off this. I actually wasn't intending to translate the whole poem, but the sequence of events sounded so similar to Hero, so I had to check.

燕丹善养士，志在报强嬴。

The Prince Yandan loves Xiake, and wants seek revenge over the Qin King subjugation.

A xiake is a chinese folk warrior that wanders around. and helps others in need. There were many of them in the Waring States. It's now a common seen in wuxia/xianxia fiction.

招集百夫良，岁暮得荆卿。

Recruiting many warriors over a hundred miles, he finally found Jin Ke in his final years. 

君子死知己，提剑出燕京；

A gentleman can die for his soulmate, Jin Ke takes up his sword and leaves Yan Capital. 

Yan Capital is in modern day Beijing

素骥鸣广陌，慷慨送我行。

The snowy white horse neighs on the broad street, stirred up it sends me away 

素骥 does mean snowy white in this context, but it’s implied that white is the colour of mourning and it symbolises the Qin King’s death.  So it strengthens Jin Ke’s journey by sending him off. 

雄发指危冠，猛气冲长缨。

Filled with emotion and with great courage, his hat is worn high and its string bound tight.  

饮饯易水上，四座列群英。

With a toast, farewell and on towards Yishui

Yishui is located in western Hebei.

渐离击悲筑，宋意唱高声。

Jianli plays the jizhu mournfully, the brave men Yan sing loud and clear. 

Jianli was a friend of Jian Ke.  If you break his name down, it also means 渐 / gradually, 离/ leaving.  The Jizhu is an ancient musical string instrument from the waring periods.  It looks like this.

萧萧哀风逝，淡淡寒波生。

A mournful wind blows past, a faint ripple appears on the water’s surfaced

商音更流涕，羽奏壮士惊。

The sounds of autumn weep, the rustling of feathers startles the strong man. 

心知去不归，且有后世名.

He knows in his heart that he can’t return, and his name will be famous throughout the ages

登车何时顾，飞盖入秦庭。

He boards the carriage and doesn’t look back, as he rushes straight into the Qin court. 

凌厉越万里，逶迤过千城。

Heading straight bravely for the next ten thousand miles, although the path is winding we’ve passed a thousand cities.

图穷事自至，豪主正怔营。

The map has reached an end (and the hidden dagger is revealed), the King of Qin is flustered.

This line is also mentioned in The Records of the Grand Historian.  The hidden dagger is not mentioned explicitly in this poem but it is mentioned in the Record of the Grand Historian, so readers who are familiar would know what entails ‘when the map has reached an end”

惜哉剑术疏，奇功遂不成。

It’s a pity that the swordsmanship was lacking, and the great work was not completed

其人虽已没，千载有余情。

Although the warrior has long passed away, his feelings are still passed on over the next thousand of years. 

So, this is one of the more famous ways of using 知己 Zhiji. In this context, the term takes on the meaning of "someone who knows one's self, and appreciates them". In the same Records of the Grand Historian, there is an idiom "士为知己者死 Warriors would die for their Zhiji" which means one would be willing to lay down their life for those who appreciate your ideals. This poem was probably chosen for this segment of the show as Zhou Zishu and Wen Kexing are faced with a similar issue.

I already did that, so allow me to redirect you to this post listing my ten movies, and this other one (a much much much much longer version, if you feel up to it).

However, after reflecting about which 10 movies I like the best –what a dilemma it was– I also thought about which 10 TV-shows are my comfort rewatches. I came up easily (surprisingly so) with the selection, so let me share that with you instead! 😊 ❤️

Xena: Warrior Princess

The most badass warrior I have ever seen on TV. What a sight is Lucy Lawless, I fell in love with those gorgeous blue eyes since the moment my child eyes saw them… This tv-show is everything to me. Xena & Gabrielle, the purest soulmates. There were also lots of amazing characters and actors (Karl Urban and Kevin Smith, among others). Produced in New Zealand too… Which is so awesome! <3 (Strong opening theme!)

Stargate SG1/Atlantis

MY FUCKING SCI-FY babies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can’t even tell you why I love these two TV-shows, because I got so overwhelmed about it! I. JUST. LOVE. THEM. SO. MUCH! (I actually watched several Stargate Atlantis episodes just before typing this list.) If you like the genre, GO.WATCH.THESE! (Amazing opening themes as well! <3)

I’ve watched every rerun on TV since it has been broadcasted. It is tied to my childhood, so I’m rather attached to it! I prefer this version over the more recent one, which is a bit too dark compared to the comedic one. Salem is so funny! He’s I-C-O-N-I-C! :P

Dr Quinn, Medicine Woman/// House MD

My absolute two favourite tv-shows involving doctors… though they are very different from one another. Western drama vs. medical drama. It’s really not your typical medical show however.

A female physician from a 19th-wealthy family moving in the wild west to establish a practice. She feels very deeply and has a strong moral compass. The themes mentioned are quite serious (which I like) as you have, for instance, a close-minded-white-men little village, a woman working a man job, Cheyenne tribes being mistreated so are the black people and any other non-White people. Of course, it is still a tv-show, so I don’t how historically-accurate it is. But so not as sappy as Grey’s Anatomy if you know what I mean. 😊

AND the Sherlock doctor. Hugh Laurie is magnificent in this out-of-the-ordinary, junkie, snarky genius of a doctor!  

Avatar: the Last Airbender

Do I really need to spell it? MASTER OF THE ELEMENTS. AIRBENDING. WATERBENDING. FIREBENDING. EARTHBENDING. THIS IS SO FREAKING COOL!!!!!! The Legend of Korra is good too!

The adventures of an FBI agent and his con artist/thief consultant. YUP. It is as cool as it sounds. All the characters are lovely as well!

Downton Abbey

THIS IS MY FAVOURITE BRITISH PERIOD DRAMA EVER. It is about the aristocratic Crawley family and their servants’ life during the earliest 20th century. The cast is realllllllllllllly good! A lot of good characters, strong episodes (very emotional sometimes)! Dame Maggie Smith is killing it as the Dowager Countess of Grantham, the sass in this character’s lines and faces!!!!! XD (Again, the opening theme is SO GOOD!)

Once Upon a Time

A very nice tv-show where fairytales characters are transported into the real world because of a curse. The cast is INSANE! :O Nice revisit of famously known fairytales!!!! I have a thing for the accents…Well, there are a lot of different accents to listen to!

Lucifer

It’s probably one of the last (new-ish) TV-show I’ve watched from the beginning to the end. The British (again with the accent) Devil’s adventures with the Detective (yeah… it’s her official name! XD). Very good chemistry between Tom Ellis and Lauren German! And the other characters are equally as good!!!!!!!!!

Prison Break

Season 1 was the best. Truly. The idea was so original when the tv-show came out! Wentworth Miller’s acting is pure *chef’s kiss*. (That’s why I love Captain Cold so much btw, especially because Dominic Purcell is also his Rogues buddy in The Flash). Also, I’ve never loved the crookiest of the crook characters so much than how I love T-Bag. He’s the worst, but OMG his lines and mimicking (Robert Knepper did a fine job!)

Top 10 Female Characters

Thanks for tagging @solana-ceae was free today for a bit so you caught me at a nice time and it's pretty interesting and also so painful to keep it to 10, because i have probably 10 for each type media i read or watch lol. These are in no particular order and might come back someday to elaborate on some of these choices

1. Elizabeth Bennett from Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

Elizabeth Bennett, is a character so beloved to me, that even after almost a decade of having read the novel, P&P remains one of my most favourite novels of all time. It was my first romance novel ever and also was my introduction to the works of Jane Austen and romance novels in general. It's also the reason i have such a fondness for regency era romance novels. I love all of her iterations in the myriad of iterations of Pride and Prejudice adaptations we've seen over the years, though i will confess my favourites are the from book (ofc), the 1995 bbc mini series (the better adaptation of P&P novel), the 2005 movie and from the web series, the Lizzie Bennett diaries, a really beautiful awesome web series that is fully available on youtube and i think is a must watch for any fans of P&P.

Elizabeth is such a beautiful vivacious woman, who was courageous, fearless enough to not settle for anything but what she wanted, and a little prideful and she is a wonderful example of how one can be unfairly prejudiced against someone because of an erroneous first impression and also not someone behaving towards you like you expected. And i loved it as a kid, still do almost a decade later, but in a lot different way than i did as a kid.

2. Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter series

As much as jkr's comments and my growing age seeing the pitfalls of the harry potter series made me like the actual series a lot less, but Hermione Granger still reigns supreme as my favourite character from the series (followed by Draco Malfoy, Harry Potter and the book version of Ginny Weasley, yes the book version specifically).

Hermione Granger is and will remain one of my biggest inspirations in life. She was the first character i saw that was so like me when i read it as a kid, and she made me feel ok being one of the smart girls. She's smart as heck, empathetic to the plights of others, believes in justice even when she gets made fun of for it, and totally vicious when crossed. Like it wasn't really shown in the movies, but book Hermione was low key unhinged when she was crossed and i love that for her. She's not perfect, and i love that about her.

I really wish we had her perspective on the shenanigans of the series because it would be so fascinating honestly. And honestly if i had to criticize (one) thing about her was her decision to get together with Ron at the end. It was plain and boring and for those who like her with him great for you, i don't.

3. Arya Stark from Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire series

She's so persevering and so determined to attain her goals, i love that for her. She's gone through a lot in her tiny life, but she's never let it beat her down ever, she always stands back up and takes names.

I hated what they did to her character in the last 2 seasons of the show (actually i point blank absolutely detest the last season of Game of thrones period so yeah) but before that i loved what she was doing, and everything.

100/10 line. Absolute banger. Very quotable. Very inspiring. Fight me if you think otherwise

4. Fa Mulan, Mulan disney movies

An absolute icon, childhood and adult inspiration to live as i want and to have the strength to do what's right and being yourself no matter what.

5. Annalise and Erika, The Princess and the Pauper

Yes some of my favourite characters are from a barbie movie, what about it?

Love them both, 100/10 top barbie movie (along with The 12 Dancing princesses) both provided so many lessons to young me and even now are a source of comfort. Also The Princess and the Pauper has one of the best barbie movie songs, the best villian songs and i have each and every song from this movie memorised.

6. Geet from Jab We Met

She's such a comfort character now, and honestly it's hard for me to explain why i love geet so much in anything less than what is an essay lmao.

Jab We Met is honestly one of bollywood's best rom coms ever. Such a feel good story, a banger soundtrack album and the absolute sparkling chemistry between Shahid and Kareena.

She's such a bright, bubbly, vivacious character, full of life and enthusiasm you can help but be charmed by her and her iconic line "Main apni favourite hun (I am my own favourite)" is such a lovely self love line. Even when things in her life didn't work out the way she wanted it to, she soldiered on, and made the best of her situation. Her romance with aditya is so nice and so balanced man i absolutely love jab we met.

If you haven't watched Jab We Met, this is a sign that you should!! I THINK it's one of those movies even those who don't watch bollywood will enjoy.

7. Kaori Makimura from City Hunter manga and anime

She's also another comfort character whom i relate to and looking back, was also one of my first female crushes in any media lol.

She's so unapologetic to be herself, is sometimes insecure about stuff, some of which that i highly relate to, as a woman who was never into the overtly cutesy femme get up ever since i was a kid. She also grows so much as the series progresses and her partnership with Ryo is so complex and yet so simple at the same time. I love how she appreciates Ryo, the very flawed man he is, knowing he's deeply flawed but loving him anyways. And actually it's manga english translation took SO FUCKING LONG to finish istg it was a slow burn from hell. And even though the romance wasn't shown as much, the love and respect Ryo and Kaori had for each other is one of my favourite things in media.

8. Elle Woods from Legally Blonde

She's such a beautiful character who shows that it's fine to be your feminine self even if the environment around you doesn't like that. Legally Blonde is one of my comfort movies and Elle Woods is absolutely the major reason for it.

She's confident in herself and her feminity, a go getter, really intelligent and also still being kind and empathetic towards others. I really think if I'd seen this movie (and the show suits) when i was younger, there was a high chance i would've been a lawyer instead of a doctor that i am right now lmao. She's such an inspiration.

"What? like it's hard?" Absolutely banger line. This is poetic cinema at its peak.

9. Aria Roscente from The Villianess Turns the Hourglass

One of my favourites in the villianess isekai genre of manhwa. A trailblazer, an icon, an absolute legend and a trendsetter.

Aria is such a strong woman. She's also highly intelligent, but also willing to work hard for her goals. While the plot may seem contrived to give her all the things going right, she also never fails to take advantage of all the opportunities that she sees and i love her for it. (The actual villian in this manhwa is such an icon, many wish to be mielle, but you truly can't be mielle)

Aria is my favourite even if she also does a lot of gaslight, gatekeep, girlboss and she will do it in STYLE and pizazz.

10. Hashimoto from Kieta Hatsukoi

She's the best girl, and honestly she's one of the best parts of Kieta Hatsukoi . She so sweet and encouraging of aoki and she's so cute, absolutely love her.

do you make your bed? i don't, but my husband treats it like a religious tradition. and since getting married i'll admit to having been swayed to the 'made bed superiority' train. it is so nice to get into a made bed at night. somehow it feels...cleaner?

what is your job? secondary teacher

if you could go back to school, would you? i'm about halfway through my master's right now and also working on getting my principal's certification. it's insanely hard to balance with a full time job and family, but...i've honestly begun to see my classes as restorative times. i get to unplug, be away from the demands of my kids (sorry girls), and just learn.

can you parallel park? no because i learned how to drive in oxford f'ing england and we barely even have paved roads

a job you had that would surprise people? absolutely none. i worked at a tea shop in high school. typical english girl doing typical english things.

do you think aliens are real? honest to god, i've never thought about it for more than 30 seconds at a time. it's probably ignorance but i just do not give a sh*t. and that't mostly because my mind has so many other immediate things to process at any given time lol

Yes and no. I love hearing people talking about things they're passionate about, but I have ADHD so it needs to hold my interest for an extended period of time, which isn't always easy. I quite like Jenny Nicholson's, except for the Star Wars ones.

I don't actually remember anything about them, only my mum telling me as an adult that they were twins, one boy and one girl.

Growing up, I read a book with a character named Starr and kind of wanted to change my name to that. These days, I can't say I love my name, but can't think of anything else I'd change it to.

What is your favorite of Redacted’s audios, and why?

Maybe Regulus's, especially the newest one (the thought of having somebody in my head and never having any space to myself kinda terrifies me, but I also like the idea, because hell yes, he could absolutely kick those intrusive thoughts to the curb. Also, the parts where he starts revealing his true feelings about stuff via the random "demonic" voice just does something to me).

Although the Adam storyline, especially Sadistic Vampire Kidnaps You (both for the sleep aid factor, and just general I really enjoy listening to it) will probably always be my absolute favourite.

What Redacted boy holds no appeal to you, and why? Like, not the one you hate but the one who you don’t get the hype for. (I won’t judge, I promise.)

Sam. I think he's got so much love from Redacted fans that I'm almost burnt out from it. Also Milo, David and Vincent a little bit, for the same reason. I still listen to and enjoy their audios, but they'll never be my first choice to listen to, and it's very unlikely I'd relisten to them.

Tell me about that one book/movie/tv show you know all the words to.

Idk, I don't rewatch or reread things enough to learn the words to them. Maybe Buffy, because I was hardcore obsessed with it when I was younger, but nowhere near knowing all the words level.

Which Redacted boy are you platonically attracted to? Like- forget dating, which dude do you want to be your best friend?

My first thought was Hux, although I would totally date him, if we were in a universe where he was, y'know, real, and not dating Damian.

Maybe I should've said Asher. As much as I adore him, I don't really think about him in a romantic context.

It’s always been you A/n: thank you for these requests I'm a big fan of Pedro so I decided to do both ideas the second one will be out soon 

I have always loved to read romance books especially ones about childhood friends who end up happily together. To start with I just liked the books as I thought they were sweet but now I realise that I read those books because it's what I wished my life was like. 

For as long as I can remember I have been friends with Pedro his parents used to babysit me when my parents both had places to be and we always used to play together. We were inseparable for many years and were always hanging out together I even used to beg my parents to go to his races so I could be there to support him. There was a period of time when we grew apart a bit as we both made other friends and spent time with them on the weekends he was actually around instead of spending time together but we still used to text quite a lot. During that period of time Pedro really made a break through with his racing and was completely dominating the junior categories which meant he was away a lot which contributed to us growing apart. 

Over lockdown Pedro and I got much closer again as we live on the same street so we were able to sit outside together and just talk to pass some time. Those days were some of my favourite as we just talked for hours like we did when we were kids and it was like nothing had changed from when we used to ruin around outside driving our parents insane. It was over lockdown that my feelings for Pedro changed it was probably always destined to happen but in the many hours I spent with Pedro on the days we had nothing else to do I started to see him differently. I started to care about how I looked when I saw Pedro instead of happily going to meet him in sweats I had to make sure I had a nicer outfit on and some makeup even though he definitely didn't care or notice. 

For weeks I tried telling myself that I didn't have a crush on my childhood best friend but eventually I couldn't keep lying to myself and instead I just had to come to terms with it and try and get over it. Pedro sure didn't make it easy to try and get over my feelings as when he was allowed he started coming over and we would watch movies together but instead of sitting on opposite ends of the sofa he would sit right next to me and we would share a blanket. He also started complimenting my hair and makeup when I would make more of an effort which kept fuelling the delusion in my head that maybe he felt the same way I did and we would end up together. Seeing as trying to get over the feelings on my own wasn't working I tried dating other guys but it never worked out as I kept comparing them to Pedro and they could never be the same as him. After months of either trying to push the feelings to the back of my mind or dating other guys I gave up and just decided to live with my feelings but keep them to myself as I can't lose my friendship with Pedro.

Two years has passed since I realised my feelings for Pedro and nothing has changed we still talk everyday and I'm still reading romance books and wishing that my life could be like that. Instead I am still keeping my feelings a secret because it's just not worth throwing away our friendship over a crush which will never be requited and a dream of a life that could never be a reality. This year it has been really hard to keep my feelings a secret from Pedro as we haven't spent so much time together. I have been to loads of races this year to watch him in his first moto2 season and when he was out for a few months with his injury we spent every day together as it kept him sane while not racing and I was never going to complain. 

Over the weekend was the final race of the season and sadly I couldn't make it even though I really tried my hardest things just didn't work out. Even though I couldn't make it I still watched all the moto2 sessions which did earn me a few stares when I got excited about sessions while in my classes. The actual race was very stressful to watch but in the end Pedro won just like he promised me he would and his win meant that he won the rookie of the year title which represents everything he has done this season. After watching the race I really wanted to celebrate with Pedro but he had the awards ceremony to go to after the race so he wasn't due home until today but I've had classes all day which has kept us apart even longer. While in one of my classes Pedro text and asked me to come over to celebrate tonight which of course I am really excited about but I know it will just be the two of us and that always makes me nervous just incase I accidentally give anything away as to my feelings for him.

When I got home from university I got changed straight away into a nicer outfit and put on a bit of makeup so that I didn't look as tired. Once I was ready I took a minute to calm myself down as for some reason I was feeling really nervous even though I am always spending time with Pedro this time for whatever reason it feels different. When I felt a bit more ready to go I grabbed my phone and headed down the street to meet Pedro although I walked quite slowly just to collect my thoughts and get myself ready. Just as I was about to knock on the door it opened which took me by surprise and before I could get any words out Pedro had but his arms around me to give me a tight hug. When my brain finally started working I hugged him back and managed to congratulate him on his win. I could tell that my cheeks were flushed as they felt hot but I ignored it and pretended that it wasn't happening so that hopefully Pedro wouldn't notice.

Pedro pulled away from the hug after what felt like an eternity and grabbed my hand to bring me inside. He had got loads of food and drink set up which seemed a bit much seeing as it was just the two of us but I know by the end of the night somehow we will have eaten it all. Since we both turned 18 this year whenever we celebrate things together we like to drink a little especially as we don't drink much outside of that so Pedro poured both of us some champagne from the bottle he got when he won which he clearly saved. We talked about what had gone in since we last saw each other which was less than a week but we still have a lot to about. Despite him having a lot more to talk about he still asked me about my week first which in comparison was very boring. 

Like he always does he listened intently to everything I said and we even gossiped about some of the things that had happened while he was gone. It's times like these that make it so hard for me to move on as no other guy has ever cared that much about what I have to say and usually just care about themselves but Pedro is the exact opposite. As much as it's sweet that he wants to listen to what I've been up to I wanted to hear about the race and the awards ceremony so I shut up and got him to tell me about what it was like. He started telling me everything which included all the little details about the bike which over the years I have come to understand but only after Pedro explained it a million times. During his recap of the weekend he kept saying that he wished I was there with him especially for the awards ceremony as he hates going to events like that and he said having me there would have made it more enjoyable. When we he says things like that it gives me a shred of hope that maybe he might feel the same way I do but then I remember that he only says those things because we are such close friends. 

Throughout the evening we kept talking and drinking. I really don't drink very much so my tolerance isn't very high which meant after a few drinks I was already feeling a bit tipsy. Pedro seemed fine still so I probably had a bit more than I usually would before stopping myself so that I don't end up completely drunk. When I'm drunk I seem to get a new found confidence as without realising I moved closer and closer to Pedro until I was sat right next to him with my head rested on his shoulder. This isn't the most unusual thing for us as sometimes we both fall asleep on each other when watching movies late at night but that didn't stop the both of us blushing a bit. I kept my head on his shoulder and he put his arm around my waist touching the skin where my shirt had ridden up. Having his hand on me made me feel like I was on fire, his touch sent sparks around my body and he wasn't even meaning to which only drives me even more crazy. As his hand rested on my waist I was thinking about how I wished it actually meant something and wasn't just him making sure I was ok because I'd drunk too much. 

"I wish this was real" I thought out loud 

"What do you mean?" He asked 

"This between us I wish that instead of just being a good friend you had your arm around me because you actually loved me" I said not thinking about what I was admitting 

"How long have you wanted that?" He asked clearly trying to get as much information out of me as possible

"For a few years since we starting spending so much time together over lockdown and I tried to stop myself by going out with other guys but they just aren't like you but I know you don't see me like that so just forget I said anything" I rambled 

"Who says I don't feel the same way" he said 

"What?" I asked 

"Maybe I feel the same way and have for a long time but I didn't want to say anything because I didn't want to lose you if you didn't feel the same" he admitted 

"So we both like each other but what do we do now?" I asked 

Instead of replying to me he put both his hands on my cheeks and pulled me in until our lips met. Just feelings his lips against mine sent shockwaves through my body which had me in cloud 9 as this is all I've wanted for the longest time. The kiss was everything I had imagined it to be which was surprising as I had spent many hours picturing what it would be like but the reality really did live up to my expectations. It seemed that neither of us really wanted to pull away but eventually we had to as we needed to breathe but we didn't move far apart as he pulled me into his lap and our foreheads rested against each other. 

"That was amazing" I whispered 

"Yeah. How about we got to sleep and then we can talk in the morning when you aren't drunk" he said

As my eyes opened I looked around and instantly knew I was in Pedro's room which I didn't have time to question before the rest of my senses came back to me and I felt an arm around my waist as well as a presence behind me and the memories of last night came flooding back. I almost didn't believe that I actually did that but I knew that I must have because I wouldn't be laying in bed with Pedro wearing his hoodie if I hadn't. As much as it's a relief to have finally confessed my feelings and to know he actually feels the same I still made a promise to never drink that much again as I don't want to keep doing things I might regret the next morning. Although I definitely don't regret anything that happened last night as I'm finally getting to live the life I have been imagining for years. 

I laid in bed for a while just thinking about everything that happened until I felt Pedro move behind me so I turned around to face him. As soon as his eyes opened he pressed a kiss to my nose which made my cheeks heat up as the confidence that drunk me had has definitely disappeared. For a few moments we just looked at each other as he moved my hair out of my face and tried to run his fingers through it to get some of the knots out. His actions only made me blush more which I tired to cover up but he stopped me and instead just laughed at the way anything he does makes me cheeks go red. 

"You're so cute" he said 

"Why thank you I suppose you aren't too bad yourself" I joked 

"Thats not what you were saying last night" he snapped right back 

"Ooh someone's feisty in the morning" I laughed 

"Anyway are we going to talk about this like what are we now?" I asked 

"I want you to be mine I've waited years for this and I don't want to wait any longer so will you be my girlfriend?" He asked 

"I can't think of anything I want more" I replied 

That was all he needed to kiss me and this time it just felt right. After all this time I've finally got the person I've been wishing for and it's going to take an awful lot for me to ever let him go.

currently trying to find a summer job so i can start working when i go back home to the states because i go to uni in the uk, but this past academic year i just worked at a starbucks

If you could go back to school, would you?

not really. my school went to shit my senior year and i don't regret leaving for the uk. i love being in uni though <3 i can finally study the things i want to learn about!

Can you parallel park?

surprisingly, i can! it's very hit or miss as to if i do it well, but i'm one of the gays that can drive but can't do math for shit (hence why i'm studying to be a psychologist)

Do you think aliens are real?

i guess so? there's probably been some other non-earth life form out there at some point in the billions of years that the universe has existed, but whether they were sentient or not is a big mystery

Can you drive a manual car?

fuck no. i want to learn though!

i am not a morning person. i hate hate hate getting out of bed.

not yet, but i have an appointment to get one in september >:D

i don't really have a favorite type, but i guess maybe the kind of music that itches every nook and cranny in your brain. my favorite artists are waterparks, taylor swift, stray kids, counterfeit, yung gravy, and måneskin.

yeah! my flatmates and i have had one on our coffee table almost every day this past year.

roller derby! i still play for my uni's team today :)

Do you talk to yourself?

definitely! i'm a verbal processor so i often catch myself muttering to myself for various periods of time while i'm working on my coursework

Tea or coffee?

it depends- if the coffee is iced, i love to take the time to make myself a nice cup of coffee at home. at night, i always make myself a big mug of peppermint tea with honey <3

First thing you wanted to be when growing up?

i wanted to be an astronaut :D i loved the concept of being completely weightless for long periods of time.

What movies do you adore?

gods, i love so many different movies. i can always rely on any of the marvel movies to be my comfort movies, but some animated movies i will ALWAYS turn to is the entire how to train your dragon cinematography. it's. magical. i don't even know how to explain it beyond that. it's just my childhood experience. loved those movies, still do.

Random ask but do you like/watch this period dramas? If so, what’s your favorite movie?

I'm not a massive period drama watcher but do enjoy the odd one every now and again. I liked Bridgerton (season 2, not season 1) and am looking forward to watching season 3 when I get back home for the summer. I grew up with a family of women (and my grandfather) who were really into Jane Austen so I've watched and liked several of Jane Austen movies from my childhood - 1995 Sense and Sensibility, 1995 Persuasion (although it's been a long time) and more recently the 2017 Emma. And I really enjoyed Belle too. The 2005 Pride and Prejudice is probably my favourite though, it's one of my ultimate comfort movies.

(Unless we count Pirates of the Caribbean as period dramas, in which case those (3) movies take the cake!)

And would you believe it anon you've reminded me that I really want to watch Mr Malcolm's List!
