Similarly, the mercs manage to convince Solly that languages such as German, Russian, French, or whatever else that they might speak are actually ✨American✨ Because, well, people in the United States speak them, and obviously as we know (wink wink) the US is SUPERIOR so it “makes” those languages 🦅AMERICAN 🦅‼️

and that’s how they get away with speaking different languages or accents in front of him 🫡🫡🫡

For the longest time, Soldier wouldn’t eat anything other than canned preserves or fast food, being highly suspicious of anything else to be “not American enough, MAGGOTS”. Engie cleverly gets past this by explaining to Engie that since he’s American, all the homemade stuff he cooks is American by proxy. Solly is convinced, reluctantly at first, and then (after trying some delicious southern meals) thoroughly.

Since the mercs have convinced him that they’re all American (actually canon) to stop him from losing his mind, they all take up this same strategy. Still, Engie ends up cooking most of the time— he finds it relaxing.
