Banjo (Main Outfit) Reference Sheet | (they/them) | Clip Studio Paint EX

I FINALLY made some sort of reference sheet for Banjo, a character I’ve had since 2018! They’ve went through multiple design changes, & I think they look pretty cool now, now inspired by a Mourning Dove for their colors & some of their markings!

I also included Banjo’s magical satchel for size comparison (Banjo is smol) & some close ups on what some of their clothing looks like since they have wings that would need to be accommodated for!

“I should return to my towers,” Essek said, and Jester made a whining noise.

“No! Won’t they expect you to stay here, with Caleb, in his bed….” She finished with a leer that was all fang and left absolutely nothing to the imagination.

“Jester-“

“Is it expected? For you to live here?” Caleb asked, interrupting him and ignoring the more lurid side of Jester’s observation with practised ease, though his cheeks held a bit more colour than normal.

“I suppose it would be,” Essek admitted, but the idea of staying in the Xhorhaus, with Caleb specifically, was a special type of torture Essek had no desire to administer to himself. He was tempting his own heartbreak enough as it was

Our Father, Who Art in Heaven

For @the-fox-populi-says , Shiro surrounded by ladies... and also his slight revenge against Mephisto for what’s going on with Rin and Yukio since he’s... well, dead. Reference to TEotB, too, with Mephisto’s disdain of his smoking habit! ;D Sorry, I’ve never drawn Shiro before, so... Yeah.

I hope the sequence makes sense and you can understand what’s happening. Tried to minimize words, but should be pretty easy to figure out.

Turned a bit more sentimental than I’d originally intended. Oh well, I ship them and can’t help thinking Meph would be a bit sad when he smelt Shiro’s particular brand of stink. Olfactory memories!

Chapter 104: A frustrated Mephisto plays an arcade game

Here's the antagonist to go with the protagonist of Banjo, the Lead Hunter of Easthunt, Barron Dohauser! He & his parade (a parade being a group of hunters) are hunting Banjo throughout the story I'm working on with the pair!

On our left, he's wearing his "Casual" Outfit, & on our right, he's wearing his Hunting Gear! These are actually his 2.0 outfits & his 2.0 design since I actually ended up redesigning him about 2 months after his initial design! He's existed since 2019, but I never had a solid design for him until 2023! I essentially just added more personality to both his face & his outfits! I added blemishes & cheek definition to his face & body. For his outfits, I added a pattern to his green gambeson, made his beast pelt cloak darker, patterned, & changed it so the cloak gives him a larger & hopefully more intimidating silhouette (so, he sorta got shoulder pads?) & changed his "Casual" outfit from a plan blue gambeson to a fancier doublet!

And Essek is without an escape plan. 

Trapped masterfully in an endgame he’s failed to see occurring in the shadows around him. He let his old arrogance ruin him, he should have seen the knife coming long before he felt it in his back. 

“A welcome union between our Den’s, long overdue,” The world screeches back into focus as Deirta offers the usual platitudes and Ulric Tasithar nods along, barely containing his smirk, a plan well executed and just a moment away from being finalised. The clock ticks ominously in the back of the room and Essek feels every second like a vice around his chest. 

So Essek does something he’s rarely done before. He panics. 

“I’m afraid that won’t be possible,” he says, a touch too loudly. The only visible sign he’s not in full control of himself. 

His mother sniff’s haughtily, fully aware he has no way out and not in the mood to indulge his silver tongue’s attempt to earn his freedom. Or at least a moment’s reprieve to think. “My boy you -”

“I’m already married,” Essek states as calmly as he can, trying not to show the cold panic that has settled into every inch of him. His mother blinks at the outburst, momentarily stunned. A good thing, with Deirta on the back foot he could wrangle a way out of this horrible situation. After all, the Umavi of Den Thelyss had been expecting cool, calculated arguments from him. 

Not this. 

And in all honesty neither had he. 

Outwardly he is calm, relaxed in his seat and presenting an aura of control as he lets the statement settle like dust on the furniture. Internally Essek desperately tries to fumble together something to cover for his outlandish declaration. 

It’s not unusual to bypass the pomp and circumstance of a public wedding for a quieter affair but he can tell from the faces around the table that they can see it for what it is. A desperate attempt to maintain his freedom. 

“It was a lovely ceremony,” Uraya pipes up and Essek exhales slowly to avoid doubling over in gasping relief. He could kiss his dear friend. A witness, a respected one at that, adds more weight to Essek’s words and he looks less like a child clamouring for any exit and more like a man in control of the situation.  

“To who?” Deirta asks stonily. 

Fuck, Essek thinks sharply.
