Hello hello!! I just wanna start off by saying how GORGEOUS your art is! Truly inspiring. I was wondering what your process was? Again, your art is truly impressive

Thank you!! Oh man, it was a saga and you've opened a can of worms because my favorite thing to ramble about outside of sad gay space robots is our unholy overlord Photoshop (warning for length)

Hatching workflow: step 1: have too many Doré artbooks The refined process is thumbnail > cleaner sketch > black-and-white base OR 3D render > cut out whites > clean up edges > mask out each building/section > hatching lines with the upcoming layer setup

Below is the layer setup I use for hatching! First I separated each element into its own folder, with its own mask—

Then used this structure in each folder— I just want the hatching lines to appear black when on lit areas, and white on shadowed areas (as opposed to having to draw part of a line in white and another part in black). So, after separating the lit and shadowed sides, I copied the "Light" layer, clipped it on top of a folder of hatching lines, and inverted its layer mask.

(*I draw on layer masks because it's easier to recolor lines + toggle between drawing and erasing with the "X" shortcut (I have fore- and background colors set to black and white for layer masks))

Sometimes I do a pass of grayscale values and overlay that layer on top as a reference while hatching.

I've two main brushes: one choppier and one smoother and tapered at the ends (for thin lines, 2px-3px). Really thin horiz/vert lines are just the Pencil at 1px.

Black-and-white workflow with 3D:

Tbh at first I only intended to make that one lurking Drift illustration. But I cower from 3D like it’ll kill me, so I turned it into a 3D assignment. First I used that "separate ways" piece to make myself model at low stakes (I just made items from the comic backgrounds and jammed them together), then I modeled the Dead End wide shot and got the final lurking Drift comp from that.

1. Drew enough detail to model (>see the 5th image in this post)

2. Used fSpy to generate a Blender camera that matched my perspective

3. Shoved together the barest essentials of the clinic set in Blender (setting the 5th image in this post as a background image in Viewport)

4. Rendered at hi-res twice: once with lighting, once with Freestyle outlines.

5. Changed clinic design in the close-up, so I went back to revise the wide shot.

In conclusion, my hobby is wrangling Photoshop to minutely speed up the extremely tedious and niche thing I can't stop myself from doing If anyone's got a faster way to do any of this, tell me!!

It's been a long time since I read any Marvel comics and even longer since I read any Young Avengers comics (I was more of a Runaways fan tbh) but I do remember that Tommy had a pretty bad background. Bad parents, in juvie, experimented on to turn him into a weapon-- yeah. And it seems like they're gonna stick with him having a worse background than Billy in the MCU because of this:

“It's underwater! There's a boy. It's a prank. They tricked him. He's gonna drown. It's a bad place. And the people, the family. There's no one to love him! He's got no one!”

Yep, it seems like they're giving Tommy the saddest backstory possible. The fact that Thomas Shepherd dies like this, being killed by bullies who'll never know they killed him is horrifying. And Tommy is gonna wake up to that. The kid is gonna go through hell.

It has a lot of potential for angst between him and Billy. And it could create a very interesting dynamic. I think Tommy and him will bond, but there's also potential for some resentment from Tommy's side. He gets reincarnated into the body of a bullied kid, with family that doesn't care about him and could be abusive. Meanwhile, Billy got two angels like the Kaplans as his parents, and now a cool gay ghost aunt. So there's a chance that this poor other kid might be like "Why? Why did you get all the good things while I got stuck with this?"

Also with his background being like that, I get the feeling he will most likely be the twin that considers Wanda his mom and Vision his dad, 100%. Eventually I really think Billy will see them as his parents too along with the Kaplans, but unlike Billy, Tommy doesn't get a new good, loving dad and a new good, loving mom. And we don't know if he'll fully remember Billy's voice as Billy did his (I think so). Maybe he will remember his voice, maybe he'll remember Vision's voice saying "We're very proud of you," maybe he'll remember Wanda's voice saying “A family is forever, we could never truly leave each other" or "Thanks for choosing me as your mother". Maybe all three. Maybe just one. In any case, this poor kid is probably gonna wake up wondering where are his brother or his parents and get stuck with the Shepherds and it'll be a 1000 times worse than what Billy went through and I really pity him.

I reckon it is another Link group. And we are either going to meet the last of the Links we are yet to meet. Or we are pulling groups together.

I think it's World or Spirit. And we are gonna see these guys interact before they meet the other larger group of heroes.

Though im leaning towards Spirit just because of the shadow's shape. (And the lack of Sheerow)

OBX 4 RANT(contains spoilers)

Thoughts on Season 4 Ending:

Honestly, me personally, I think I always knew that eventually one of the Pogues would end up dying, but I always thought it would be more towards the end(season 5ish) so that at least the main cast would get to finish out the show. But I can’t say I’m shocked that JJ was killed off this season.

JJ was my favorite character obviously, and I think he definitely deserved a happy ending as much, if not more, than the other Pogues, but also, I think by killing off the comic relief and such a beloved character, it leaves so much room for plot development and other character arcs that weren't there previously.

Kiara's season is long overdue as well as Cleos. But more than that, I think that as amazing as the Jiara plot was, it held back Kiaras character. If you compare Season 3-4 Kiara to season 1-2 Kiara, shes gotten a lot less tough than previously. and while recognizing that the Pogues have gone through a lot and that can change a character, it seems like she was the only one to go through this change, especially after her and JJ got together.(Season 1/2 Kiara would have ended Ruthie tbh.)

Kiara is also one of my favorite characters, and I cannot wait to see how she navigates season 5.

Thoughts on Riara:

While I think both Rafe and Kiara are good characters, the show has progressed too far to have the characters end up together. I love a good enemies to lovers, but theres too much history, especially with JJ gone now, to put them together.

For starters, Kiara loved JJ, and they all just lost him. Season 5 will probably pick up right where they left off(assuming there is no time jump.) and all the Pogues will be grieving and trying to avenge their best friend. So, it doesn't make sense for Kiara to run straight into Rafe Camerons arms, especially when everyone knew that JJ did not like him or trust him, so it would probably feel like a betrayal to JJ to get with Rafe.

More than that, the actress has expressed her dislike for the ship, so it would not be surprising if it never even gets mentioned.

However, I do think the Pogues, especially Kiara, are going to have an intense breakdown over JJ that only Rafe will be able to help with. I would love to see Kiara and the other Pogues be able to lean on Rafe and use him as guidance to get revenge for JJ and also figure out their emotions that Rafe has dealt with for 4 seasons now. I would also love to see Rafe lean on the Pogues for guidance as part of his character arc without replacing JJ.

Thoughts on the actors:

As someone who had watched the show from day one, I find it so crazy at how people have turned a FICTIONAL CHARACTERS DEATH, into something so much bigger. JJ Maybank was a comfort character to me as well, and I definitely cried and was upset by the ending, but I think ultimately that's a good thing.

The fact that Rudy was able to bring to life a character so well that people are making petitions to get him back should say something about how insanely talented this cast is, but instead, all I've seen is people tearing down Rudy and Madison.

What went down between the actors is not confirmed. Just because a gossip account "confirms" something, doesn't mean it's true. Do I think it's sad that such close friends can't interact in public anymore? Yes. But it's weird to theorize over it, especially because this is someone's life, these are real people.

All the hate towards the actors is just crazy to me because if you truly cared about these people and wanted them to “find each other” again, you wouldn’t be bringing up the things that are the rumored reasons why they don’t talk in public anymore.

More than that, the hate to both of their girlfriends is just as insane. I see it happen to every attractive celebrity. The hate for Elaine, as someone who doesn’t really follow the actors personal lives, seems so forced and unwarranted. People make up rumors and act like it’s the truth without any real proof that it’s real. Same thing with Madisons girlfriend. It all just seems so unreasonable to blame people that have nothing to do with the writing of the script for how the season ended.

Truly, I hope both Madison and Rudy have very successful and long careers after Outer Banks not only in spite of all the people who are claiming that they can’t act(which is crazy because they literally made so many people cry and so many fans want their characters together because of how well they portrayed their characters) and that they will be nothing, but also because they are genuinely some of the most talented young actors today.

Quick Update: Going through these thoughts a few weeks later, the hate towards both actors has become more prevalent across all social media platforms, especially with some drama involving instagram followers and other shallow pieces of “evidence” connecting to the actors relationships with one another. Just a reminder to anyone who didn’t know somehow: No matter how much you dislike someone, it is never okay to go after their appearance. It is so much deeper than making what you think is a, “funny” comment about Elaines thin lips or how Madisons girl friend looks(both of which disgust me.). Not only are you seeking out someone’s insecurities and trying to be funny, but you could easily be joking about thousands of other peoples insecurities. Because there are plenty of people out there that share the same features as these people. Being kind is not hard. And though that should be the standard, some people need the reminder.

Thoughts on JJ’s return:

It’s been said by some people who work on Outer banks and write/produce the show that they could see Rudy coming back in season 5. Whether that be through a revival or through flashbacks, it’s been said that Rudy is open to coming back if it is possible.

For me personally, even though I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to have him back and have him get his happy ending, I think it would ruin the entire plot of the last season to bring him back. I think it would be nice to see the actor come back through flashbacks or other things, and I also see that as the most plausible scenario in which JJ would appear in season 5. But unfortunately, because of all the press and statements made about the show, I do not think JJ will be coming back.

Final thoughts/theories:

Did they bury JJ in Morocco?: Yes and No. I think that initially, it could have been JJ the Pogues buried, however, I think that after seeing all the backlash on them having JJ be randomly buried so far away from everyone else and making his worst fear, being alone, come true, they might change who got buried.

Keep in mind, Pope shot someone and killed them. It’s totally possible since we didn’t explicitly see who got buried that the writers could make it to be that they buried the man Pope killed instead of JJ. Or, that maybe if it was JJ, the grave is temporary until they can bring him back to the Outer Banks.

Will Luke have a redemption after JJ’s death?: Maybe. I think it’s possible to see the Pogues coming to Luke as part of their “revenge” for JJ, but once Luke finds out about JJ’s death, he will tell the Pogues what he was trying to tell JJ before he ran off. I don’t necessarily think he will have a “redemption” and at this point, the damage has already been done and he’s already permanently hurt JJ and theres no way to fix it. But, I could see him unintentionally telling the Pogues something that could help them.

What will happen to Pope?: I think two things are possible. I think they could send him away to the Military/jail, which will result in a breakout mission similar to what we saw in season 2 with John B and JJ in jail, or, we could see him hiding out until he gets his name pardoned by Shoupe. At this point, I’m not sure what will happen with him because so much has happened to the Pogues in such a short amount of time that his storyline could really go in any direction.

What about the baby?: I think at the end of OBX, we will get to see each of the Pogues doing what they dreamed of while still being together. Kiara will be saving turtles, Pope will end up in some kind of schooling, John B and Sarah will have the baby. Etc.

I could see them naming the baby JJ, and I think that makes the most sense to do. But I could also see them naming the baby something similar to Vlad or Val. As for the theory that the whole show is just John B and Sarah telling their kid about JJ and the Pogues, as cute as that would be, it feels predictable and in a way, ruins the show for me. I feel like it would feel similar to the ending of how I met your mother(iykyk…) and I feel like it wouldn’t be the most satisfying ending to the show.

I don’t know if we will ever see the baby, or if we will just find out if the name will be JJ or not, who knows, but either way, it would be amazing to see each of the Pogues finally be able to settle down and get what they want.

I could also see the Pogues deciding to stick together and have that be what they all want after JJ’s death and honoring him by saving the property, but again, like Popes storyline, the ending could go either way I feel.

Anyways, those are just my thoughts/opinions on the new season of OBX. Any hate towards the actors will not be tolerated <333

I just read the last chapter of "amongst dust breathing souls" and wanted to thank you for this awesome fic.

I accepted A'Sharads reason to not tell the jedi council of Anakins massacre in the comics as a very Jedi response, if I remember correctly it was along the lines of "this is your burden to carry, not mine I will not carry it for you", but your spin on it, that he was unsure and insecure is really interesting.

Also a funny side effect of your work is that I pay more attention to Anakins character and meta about him. In the canon content I was more focused on other characters but your fics made him much more interesting to me and you did that by not featuring him at all in your stories lmao - I guess he is there but more as a threatening presence in the shadows, for instance in the Arla/Padme fic or in "eastward and moonwhite" where he caused chaos for the main characters in the past but isn't there in the present

Tbh I always felt that A'sharad's response was basically only what it was because canon couldn't have the reveal happen. It always just felt cheap to me. This whole fic is me trying to come to terms with how it could actually work in-universe, and how it could lead to Darth Krayt. I'm still largely uneasy with the comic's treatment of A'sharad and the Tuskens, given that for Jedi the innocent being killed is usually a clear line, but having dug into A'sharad and his character so much, I think I can at least deal with it better now.

Re: Anakin, I truly think he's an interesting character. I like his role in the SW narrative. Having his clear and obvious flaws as a person lead directly to his fall is good writing, and while I do wish some parts could have been handled better, I enjoy his story and think he's interesting. But.... certain parts of fandom make it really hard to engage with him as anything other than an outright villain when he appears in my fics, so i generally leave him as a thing haunting the narrative. In amongst dust, I think it's the most obviously I've done that, though. xD

Infinity Wars Emma Frost

Infinity Wars was a 2018 event comic that pretty nakedly attempted to cash in on the success of its MCU counterpart. It really sucks, but there's some fun Emma Frost moments.

It gets better, trust me.

When we first see her she's melded with Logan, because Gamora remixed Thanos and instead of killing half the universe she combined two souls into one on a grand scale. 'Diamond Patch' is literally just Logan that says darling a lot. Emma would hate this.

Loki explains the gibberish that led to this situation and a dull bad guy shows up to get stabbed.

Diamond Patch leans on some phoenix time travel nonsense to summon Phoenix Logan. Ugh. Duggan reused this 'message your future self' trick much more effectively in Cable 2020.

Great, The Phoenix saying 'bub' - the concept is truly dead. I feel a bit bad for exposing people to this, but the two are split and Logan exits the story. That must have taken some restraint.

Emma takes Charge and insists she the motorcycle with Loki on the back. As it should be.

She somehow stands up to Gamora with all the Infinity Stones/Gems and takes the Power Stone for herself. As the stone operates from the wielder's mastery of mind, Emma is king shit. I'm kinda surprised they didn't use the much more recognisable (and Omega telepath) Jean Grey for this, but I'm glad Emma gets to flex.

That's a terrible BDSM joke, I'm not sure it makes sense. Then again I'm ace, so maybe someone more experienced can confirm or deny.

Unsurprisingly, they (yeah Kang, Ant-Man and Kamala showed up) are betrayed by Loki. However, his scheme sucks and they win anyway. Adam Warlock arrives to delete this silly universe and all is well. I'm just here for The White Queen tbh.

For context to anyone else reading, I’m going to be talking about the Papyrus - Genocide Route Confrontation comic I just made and posted!

(For anyone else waiting for an ask response! I haven’t forgotten! I’m very backed up! SORRY FOR ANSWERING OUT OF ORDER I JUST REALLY WANT TO RAMBLE)

Ramble under the cut!

OKAY SO I SUPPOSE I SHOULD START OFF WITH CONTEXT! I got the song “Control” by Halsey stuck in my head for Undertale. And! Sure, it would work great for a player controlled Frisk, but the main lines that REALLY got me were:

“And all the kids cried out ‘Please stop you’re scaring me’”

“I can’t help this awful energy”

“Goddamn right you should be scared of me.”

And OKAY. SO OKAY. In the song it’s a back and forth- but what if they were both Frisk? Just… this scared little kid, who doesn’t know any other way to save themself other than puffing up and making themself dangerous before anyone else.

They were hurt, so now they are GOING to hurt others. Because they’re terrified.

And Papyrus. PAPYRUS MY BELOVED. He’s so unbelievably brave and wonderful and I always have his geno route confrontation in the back of my head. I always see more art where he loses. Where he’s killed, and it’s not even a hiccup in Frisk/the Player’s run. Just a victim in the sadistic persons game.

But despite how infrequently I see art of him winning compared to being killed—how many runs does he actually stop? A lot.

This comic was my love letter to Papyrus and his character in game. Because he’s wonderful. He knew exactly what he was getting into but he did it anyway.

He had to have been terrified.

SO RAMBLE ABOUT COMIC DETAILS!

This was so fun to do, thematically! Typically for a comic, I try not to do straight on or straight sideways panels too much, because that’s not very dynamic. But it served a purpose here!

Every panel you see from the side is what’s actually happening. But then we get the POV panels—which are what Frisk and Papyrus are seeing. Here’s the first couple of pages for reference!

So! The sideways views are accurate. They’re both shaking. Papyrus is sweating… and, if you zoom in… Frisk is crying.

But then we get into the POV panels- the first one which is a more realistic skull that we are looking up to see. Because I’m sorry, and I love Papyrus(and sans), but an animated skeleton IRL (before I had the context of loving Undertale) would be TERRIFYING. And he’s so much taller than them!

The sweat and nervous expression is still there, but it’s smaller. Harder to see. Frisk isn’t seeing that through the snow and terror.

And this is just as biased in view as the next thing we see—what Papyrus sees when he looks at Frisk. Dust covered hands, gleaming red eyes. (But, if you zoom in… They’re still crying. But Papyrus isn’t really seeing that. And because he’s taller than them, and because of the thick snowstorm, he can’t really see their expression.)

So I had a lot of fun with the snowstorm and POVs. Drawing attention to what I want you to see.

Fun fact about a sobbing grimace- it sure looks a heck of a lot like a smile if you can’t see the eyes :)

I was relying on readers to be biased towards Papyrus on the first read through! Seeing what he does. Aka, not noticing just how terrified Frisk looks. (I recommend a reread to check out those cues tbh. It was very fun.)

And stars, I love Papyrus. He’s confronting this mass murderer, and they look fucking scary. He’s terrified, but he’s doing this anyway.

And then… the snow clears. And we see from Frisk and Papyrus’s perspective again.

Papyrus isn’t so scary. And… he’s scared, too.

And Papyrus sees Frisk. Really, truly, sees them. And realizes exactly what’s going on. If he hadn’t kneeled down to hug them, he wouldn’t have gotten that straight on expression of their face. Frisk wouldn’t have seen that he wasn’t so scary

He doesn’t try to dodge when they run at him. He has no way in hell of knowing that they won’t hurt him. But as they rush at him, he can’t see the same demon he did before. All he sees is a scared little kid who is trying to hurt other people before they’re hurt, too.

And then. And then, because Papyrus cares so much, and because Frisk is shaking and scared, and they don’t want to hurt him. They just want to not BE hurt.

He gives them a hug.

He doesn’t know if they’re going to drop the knife. But he does know this-

They need someone to not hurt them. To look at them and offer mercy and for it not to be a trick.

This little kid needs a gosh damn hug. And even if he dies because of it, Papyrus is going to give them that hug.

And Frisk doesn’t actually want to kill anyone. But… other than Toriel (who betrayed them!) this is the first kind touch they’ve had since they fell. And this is the first monster that didn’t try to hurt or kill them.

The guards watch as you pass through the glass arch, wordless and unbothered. Ahead you see two people lounging on the cushions of the winter garden, all their might going into looking most nonchalant.

You bend the knee as you always do, but there is a question in your eye, directed at the Gray Regent, who peeks at you from the corners of amber eyes.

You garner more attention than that, though. The guest, a man with a perfectly symmetrical mustache, his stature wrapped in an overcoat of shimmering velvet and furs, glares at you once over and his lips curl into one another. Your mind tries to think of a possible offense, but all it ends up with is the grime on your clothes, so different from his.

"Your servant has interrupted us," the man proclaims with sudden anger, words bubbling like boiling water.

You rush to meet the Gray Regent's gaze, explanations about to pour out, but your monarch is not looking your way at all. You hear a soft laughter that slowly ends for the lack of air, and then: "Ah... This truly makes me feel less of a knave for having poisoned your wine."

Chill runs down your spine, but you dare not move. The guest does, rushing to his feet, knee crashing into the underside of the table, face reddening like he is about to faint. The Gray Regent watches him, still seated, chin resting peacefully on top of the folded palms.

The man sways, arm reaching out weakly but finding no purchase. His legs are weak, you realize, as he nearly topples down onto the cushions but then still latches onto some rigidness in his bones.

"Fascinating," the Gray Regent continues with a smile. The man keeps lowering himself, every movement stiffer than the other. And finally, he sits down, slowly looking around with his mouth wide open. You are about to say something, unsure yet what exactly, but that is not required, it seems. "Not even a drop consumed but your weak rabbit heart has nearly ended you itself."

The man, a prince or a lord of some land, slowly, comically slowly turns to look at the Gray Regent. Fear still clouds his deep blue eyes and robs him of a voice. A long beat of silence as he is assessing, settling back into the world of living.

And he looks slightly more present.

"Now sit and listen carefully to what I tell you," your monarch says coldly. "And another word in that—" a small gesture your way "—direction, and every chalice your hands ever touch will be poisoned."

What do you think is the reason people (in universe) are so obsessed with Batman/Bruce?

No one can bring themselves to just leave his orbit.

His kids always find their way back to him. It doesn’t matter if they had the most vicious fight of the century. They either keep an eye from a distance, are now 100% devoted to proving him wrong, or are back at his side in a week.

The entirety of his rogues gallery is so focused on him that you can’t tell if they want to fuck him, kill him, or have a secret third thing (Joker).

Same goes for the Justice League tbh. Except for the killing part, they just want to get one good punch in. Please.

The people he was friends with when he was younger; Thomas Elliot, Minkhoa etc. still have him in their sights in one way or another.

Sometimes even Amanda -there is no other man like him/this world will always need a batman- Waller and Lex -Brucie has a hole in inside of him I want to fill/he has a magnetism that draws you in- Luthor aren’t immune.

(I recently saw the Lex Luther comic post again, and was also reminded that Amanda wanted to recreate Batman, and was determined to have Terry’s parents murdered with the only goal being to traumatize him)

They all desperately want his full attention and recognition. It‘s absolutely bonkers to me. I mean- they‘re so real for that, but it leaves you wondering. Just what is it?

No actually jokes aside, the cynical (Doylest) answer is because be makes money, but I do think the actual answer is, both in universe and out, is because Bruce is an idealist and an optimist.

Which, listen, I know about the contingency plans and the paranoia and the trust issues, listen to me, those are not what Bruce believes. He has those things because he refuses to let his own personal beliefs be the reason someone gets hurt, and he knows letting your own optimism blind you to reality is a guarantee that someone will get hurt, and his entire life is dedicated to stopping that from happening, but at his heart, at his core, Bruce well and truly believes that one good day is all it takes to save someone.

And fuck, if I had someone look me in the eye and promise that no matter what I’ve done, no matter how far I’ve fallen, he will always, always reach out to help me back up?? And to see, to know, to have witnessed over and over again that he really meant it, that he was telling the truth?? I’d be obsessed too.

I was doing a little rewatch of TWD (as every sane individual does) and here is how I think Lab Rats characters would be like in a zombie apocalypse. God, this is so niche.

Donald Davenport: would not survive, too high maintenance, would lock himself in the lab and eventually run out of food OR would get bit by a walker that sneaks up on him.

Tasha Davenport: probably would adapt eventually but in the way that either Michonne Grimes or Carol Peletier do. They adapt because of the losses they go through.

Douglas Davenport: was born for the apocalypse, would probably be the Daryl Dixon or Rick Grimes in this situation but a lot more relaxed and more talkative.

Leo Dooley: would survive but takes a while to adapt. Definitely the Noah of this storyline (probably because Leo’s actor’s brother played Noah 😭) still very funny, dark humour activated and would be a very important asset to the group. Potentially becomes some type of engineer or builder in the community.

Adam Davenport: part of me wants to say he’d survive easily but at the same time, I feel like he’d get himself killed doing the dumbest shit possible like getting sick from drinking contaminated water or accidentally shooting himself while cleaning a gun. I truly want him to survive but let’s be realistic here.

Bree Davenport: would survive, no questions asked. Her speed is awesome for supply runs and she will never be bit because she’s too fast.

Chase Davenport: would adapt the quickest because of his intelligence, his super senses are great for hearing walkers from miles away and he automatically knows how to do everything because of his super intelligence. Would find a cure for the virus like almost immediately though to be honest.

Additionally, the EF

Skylar Storm: same as Bree, would never be bit, would adapt super fast (like hello, alien who adapted to human customs almost immediately)

Kaz: has read so many zombie comic books and thinks he knows everything but actually takes a while to adapt. Becomes one of the doctors of the group and because of that is highly valued. He’s also great for starting campfires too.

Oliver: would take a while to adapt, vomited a few times when he saw a walker being killed or when he killed one. Also highly valued because he’s a doctor. I feel like he’d have a similar development as Father Gabriel tbh. Also very useful for creating clean water for people.

I’m dreading the third game of Spiderman might kill off Harry :/ either he’s goblin (solo or probably along with daddy-o) and dies a la Hero Sacrifice. Or kept comatose and in the end with grim results the decision is to pull the plug on him. idk I feel Harry’s fate is doom and gloom. But they could have killed Harry at the end of this sequel giving a strong motivation for Norman to be the Goblin and hatred for Spider-Man…yet they didn’t. idk rambling thoughts. What do you think?

Personally i can see both options. I saw someone in the tags of my last headcanon post say that it wouldnt make sense to save him from death in this game only to kill him in the next. On some level i get that, why wait when you could do it now?

I have two worst case scenarios in my head:

Harry wakes up from his coma w amnesia a la the third Tobey Maguire movie. Hes unaware of Pete being Spider-Man and Peter, thinking hes protecting Harry, wont tell him. This may cause a rift in their friendship when Harry finds out - or if Norman ends up going goblin and dies - Spider-Man is to blame in Harrys eyes and he'll go after him then. To me this is a tired trope of Harry getting an intense hatred for Spidey and wanting to kill him over his father. It always felt out of character for me and i truly TRULY hope they dont go this route.

Harry becomes the Kobold. In the comics, Kobold is essentially Harrys way of making the Green Goblin a good guy. If he still wants to fight by Peters side, he'll find a way to do it. Kobold would make a lot of sense to me personally, as it kind of continues their dynamic from this game. Then at the end theres a heros sacrifice to be made and Harry goes for it despite Peters protests. This would be lazy to me too though because he essential already did the heros sacrifice in this game. Seems like theyd just want us to have more time with him to love him even more, just to make losing him hurt worse. I wouldn't put it past an intrepid writer to think they could make it work, but it just seems lazy to me.

Actual best case scenario for me though? Harry wakes up as the g-serum is being injected. Hes against being his dads experiment all over again so he runs and finds Peter. Hes not aware of his pseudo-retirement, he just goes straight to the place thats always been his safe haven; Peters home. He asks Peter to hide him from his dad. Tries to explain everything but hes exhausted and frantic. Peter agrees and they take him into hiding.

Norman, ever the expert deflector, doesnt see this as a failing on his part. Hes convinced spider-man had something to do with his son escaping so he puts out a hit on him. Hes ready, willing, and able to capture and kill at least one of the two spider-men it doesnt matter. We see him pardon Wilson Fisk for this job, and when Fisk cant do it, he has to. Normans going to go Goblin. I know it, i can feel it in my bones.

Miles asks Peter to get back in action and he does. Fisk, plus potentially Otto again, plus this brand new villain in town is too much for any one person to handle. Heres where i see Harry becoming a "Guy In The Chair" for Peter like Ganke is for Miles. Two Guys in the Chair helping the spider-men is definitely better than one. I could also see Harrys goblin powers start to emerge but he keeps pushing them down. Last time he gave into power it didnt end well for anyone.

In an effort to not write out the entire plot of the game as i see fit (because itd be long and there are so many moving pieces and characters and IDEK WHERE THEYRE GONNA PUT SILK IN-), i think if Harry does take on the cowl he'll be doing so against his father. I think i see Harry becoming Goblin/Kobold to fight against Norman and ultimately try to help Peter/Miles. This is where i see Harry either accidentally killing Norman or Norman killing his son (and of course, blaming Spider-Man)

There is also room, in my mind, to bring back Venom a la Lethal Protector/Agent Venom. But tbh if they do, i would much rather Venom go to Eddie Brock or Flash Thompson. But thats just the separate Venom Fangirl Entity within me.

Ultimately my hope of course is that Harry not die and they dont go down that all too tired and hackneyed trope of Harry growing to hate Peter dor whatever reason. I truly TRULY hope they dont go that route it is just SO tired and lazy. I want them to stay close and loving. Whatever route they go with will be SO MUCH MORE IMPACTFUL if Harry Osborn lives and doesnt make a full 180 on his best friend for no good reason.

How do you come up with ideas for your comics? And have you ever had to kill your darlings?

Usually when I end up with an idea for a story for a comic its because I can’t stop thinking about the ideas, which could really come from anywhere but usually involve my dreams in some way. A feeling, a moment, an experience, something i met, ect.. I enjoy how much dreams have the real and the unreal mixed in them, as dreaming is a real experience about something that isn't happening. It gives a lot of material to work with. Then, the habit is that i cant stop working on/thinking about the ideas that they end up becoming a project that I draw. It isn’t like the only way but that’s a pretty frequent path. I actually don’t come up with “new stories” too often that actually stick enough to get to a level where it feels like something I can work with. I’d say it happens once every couple of years there’s something too interesting to ignore. I actually try my best NOT to think of new stories or characters as I have a lot I’m working on already. It still happens regardless. but i sorta think that me trying not to ends up filtering out the weaker ideas so that only the strongest ones remain or whatever.

As for the kill your darlings thing.. I guess I’ve never super jelled with that concept even if I respect it as a pretty solid writing rule. I see that it makes sense and is very valuable. I just can’t say that I’ve really ever felt like I’ve truly gone against my own wishes? LOL ... That probably in the end makes me a weaker author, or maybe even stagnates my growth as one, but like. I write and make my stories out of personal pleasure and desire to seek that out.. I’m less interested in being the best author ever vrs making the story how I personally imagine it and think about when I go to bed at night, daydreaming about future scenes to draw. That doesn’t mean I don’t like kill my characters tho. I do that. But I’m not really a “cut things out if I love them a lot/are attached to them to make the story better” kinda author, at least not currently. I think this is why i get called very "self indulgent" but i also am like what would be the point of giving the audience the version of the story IM not actually thinking about. Id rather share as much of the version I feel is real, at least real to me. I also don't really change certain things in a story up until a certain point. If that's how Ive decided something goes, its how Its gonna go regardless. doesn't mean things dont change along the way, often times drastically, but there's often some core things that don't change because I am "married" to them as something that feels.. idk.. essential to being part of the experience, even if I come up with better "ideas" along the way. that's just some of my philosophy on things i guess though. Its more personal instinct than reason TBH

Hypothetically, how do you think Mark would turn out if he never got his powers? What would he be doing? How would it change the original story? If the original Mark met this version of himself, how would they react to each other?

This took me a min to respond to because I am extra and had to draw something about this, but thay just means I was so delighted to take this ask, holy shit. I love thinking about AU's, tysm fo the ask, anon! :)

I don't know of the comics add any details about Mark's interests other than being a hero like his Dad (ex. even comic hobby seems to go right back to that). Nothing about school life stands out either, (besides struggling with geography, a detail I love sm), so he's probably an average student who fumbled hard when he started to get busy with Invincible stuff! So, while I can see the possibility of him working hard and striving for career that also helps saves lives ergo paramedic, fireman, emergency dispatcher, etc I actually adore the idea of him interning at the GDA???

(Okay, note, while I do see him training or getting experience in random roles, Cecil would not EVER let Mark actually be a GDA solider because imagine telling Omni-Man his son got killed. Yikes! So, intern/trainer uniform and not the official solider one.)

I can see him diving into it wholeheartedly, eager to not only prove himself, but help people like his Dad does, kinda trying to get as close to his dream as he can be. And honestly, Nolan would probably be thrilled the last reminder for Colonization Time is permanently delayed (ergo Mark never getting his powers), so I can see him either encouraging this, or being slightly conflicted? I don't know how much he actually trusts the GDA or Cecil, so it could just be bittersweet?

But, I love the idea of GDA!Mark for the potential strain in their dynamic. See, while we can't have the kind of unfolding drama in s1 considering Nolan's slaughter spree might not necessarily happen, the idea of Mark having to process the weight of his own idolization, unable to stand side by side with him on the field, feeling like Nolan feed into the idea he'd get powers, only to end up disappointed year after year could foster some bitterness and/or desperate need to prove himself. He would see Nolan slightly more, but maybe that's just a reminder of what he can't do. Where he can't reach. Nolan having doubts in GDA, would only worsen the strain, how exciting!

Plus, GDA seems to be the classic kind of trust nobody type of government agency that may to try detach Mark's (almost) unshakable faith in his Dad, and could push him to look into what exactly his Dad's past/planet/history is exactly like for documentation, as Mark tries to grasp how much he trusts Nolan and the GDA. If Slaughter Time does happen, then that's incredible drama!!! As Mark, who feels aligned with both the GDA and his Dad, now has to work to find the truth, probably to prove his Dad's innocence, only to find the horrible news instead.

Does Nolan tell Mark and Debbie at the same time, who both already know, haven't told the others, and you got family drama of the fucking century again? Ideally? Yes. I love dramatic irony a normal amount.

I think GDA!Mark and Canon!Mark wouldn't get along tbh. While C!Mark is relieved by the lack of maliciousness, GDA!Mark is literally seeing where his entire life could have been if he'd only gotten powers. 'Cause, while I do think Mark is a fundamentally kind person, it's also clear he's incredible hard on himself which I think crosses over to alternate selves. So, he'd be bitter as fuck. Yeah, they both suffered, but I think the envy would go crazy. GDA!Mark would start questioning everything, like if that Nolan loved his son more for having powers, and if C!Mark just fucked it up somehow, so if GDA!Mark got powers maybe he could've done something different? Said the right thing? Like there's this desperation to know could it have turned out any other way? Was it truly his fault? Was it something he should've said better? I think there's a quiet spiraling despair in seeing the distorted mirror version of oneself and still seeing them suffering. Was there really no other ending? It had to be this way?
