This fortnite season really missed the mark when it came to Power Armour. Shouldn't've made it a skin. Should've made it like a proper mechanic; like you can customise and wear it. Especially considering how Mad Max it's supposed to be.

Probably cringe yap session ahead describin how I feel about myself under the cut, woo!! Cuz I think I learned how to put it into words. Not a vent, but will be talkin bout possibly upsettin topics! Please take care of yourself. =]
So I know I make jokes and such about my identity. Deerboy, power armor, all that. But there's a reason for all of it. See, I don't do labels, really. I used to, but there's too many for me to really look at and say, "Oh, that's me." I know what I am logistically. I know I'm just a person, so you don't need to remind me. But I don't feel like anythin. Regardin queer terms and labels anyway. I'm none of those. But I do have things I identify with for certain reasons. And I wanna explain those so yall can understand me better!
So let's start off with my persona. My persona is actually a shapeshifter. The main form it takes looks exactly like me, just with deer features. Antlers, ears, tail, hooves, things like that. Because I identity with deer. Specifically, whitetail bucks. That's why I call myself a deerboy. Cuz I identify with them. The animal features do represent how different I feel around everyone else, however. It's a metaphor for bein nurodivergent in a nurotypical society.
Now, onto the thing that's a little more emotional. The whole power armor thing. See, before I even got back into Fallout, I've always felt robotic. (Before you read these, please don't do the things I do that are listed here. They aren't healthy for you, and just because I do them doesn't mean you should too. Don't cause problems for yourself. I am actively trynna improve myself, and I have a therapist to help.)
•The way I talk is typically monotone, and when I explain things, I explain them as if I'm readin from a wiki page. Usin formal words and go into detail about the topic.
•The way my body works. My right shoulder likes to slip out of place and lock up. Makin it impossible to move my arm unless I push it back into place. (No, it doesn't hurt. It just feels kinda strange.) And most of my joints lock up easily like my knees and elbows. I'm sorta twitchy as well.
•I don't need much fuel to function. I run off of little to no rest, food, and water most of the time. And I have a very small appetite even then. Speakin of sleep, I rarely dream. I close my eyes, and when I open them, it's day. At least I feel recharged afterward. But it still feels wrong and upsettin to rely on those things to function in the first place. I've gotten so used to ignorin my body's alerts for food and water that I don't notice I need to eat or drink until I'm shakin and my head hurts. But don't worry, my parents remind me instead since they understand.
•I overheat and shut down easily. Summer is my worst enemy cuz it's too hot, and I can't function properly if I'm overheated. So I shut down, and I can only focus on gettin somewhere to cool down. I'm built for the cold. Not heat.
•I'm very focused on certain things, and I push myself to get things done regardless of whether I need to take care of myself. I could be bleedin, and I'd still wait to tend to my wound until after I'm done with what I was workin on. I used to push people away to focus on schoolwork back in middle school because I didn't want them to interfere and make my grades drop. I didn't have any friends, but at least I had straight As. That's all that mattered to little me.
•I do a lot of research on topics that interest me. A bit too much from what people have told me. I just like to know everythin there is to know about these things. I'm very knowledgeable when it comes to injuries, firearms, history, and Fallout lore.
I know I probably just listed things that sound like autism, and you wouldn't be wrong. But I'm just explainin it how it affects me and makes me feel. It makes me feel like a machine. Like I'm just an object to society meant to work for the rest of my existence. Which unfortunately also wouldn't be wrong since that's what society expects.
You might be like, "No, don't worry, you're not a machine! You're a person just like everyone else. Don't be mean to yourself." And as nice as that is, I really don't mind bein referred to as a machine. I used to dislike it. But after a few years, it kinda started growin on me to the point where I identify with it. It ain't mean to me.
But how does any of this relate to Fallout T-60 Power Armor? Honestly, it doesn't make sense. You'd think I'd associate myself with an actual robot in the Fallout franchise. Such as a Sentry Bot or an Assaultron or somethin. (I do identify with Sentry Bots, but this has a different focus.)
I identify with Power Armor because it just feels like me. Not bein inside a suit of Power Armor. I mean the armor itself. Like a sentient suit of T-60 Series Powered Combat Infantry Armor. That's what I feel suits me best. I look at that armor, and I say, "That is me." Even though I'm well aware I'm just a fragile human person. As I've said before, you don't have to remind me.
Sorry if it seems cringe that I refer to myself with robotic terms. It just feels right. Now that I got all that off the old chest plate, I think I'm feelin a bit better. Thank yall kindly for readin this far if ya did. And thanks for understandin me if you do. =]

Power armour!!
New details and stuff about the T60 / power armor in general that I’ve noticed in the show!
Minor spoilers below for the tv show as some things relate to certain scenes.
They absolutely nailed the power armour in the show! I’m so glad they used practical effects for a lot of it, looks great and has some weight to it which I think cgi can lack! Sure it looks a tiny bit goofy but it always was going to, adding a lot to your height and forearm length while still being able to move properly will do that I think. I think they did a great job :)
The faceplate is hinged to open upwards.
You can jump extra far / power jumping
The grip strength is very high (enough to crush a guy’s skull one handed)
The throwing strength is very far (vending machine like 50m?)
These T60s have the jet packs included as a part of the forearms, which is neat I think.
The helmet has its own little hood for comms as a part of the helmet, on top of the operator wearing the silly danse hat, which seems to be an actual hood that’s part of the power armour jumpsuit / knight uniform.
The HUD is in the lower part of the helmet, which seems obvious but the games have no helmet and you still have a HUD so .?? Sole is connected to the armour telepathically, and Danse just Knows. /joking
The back of the helmet opens, you can see the back of the head and there’s also a drinking water fill port.
Possible retcon but voice modulators are strong enough to make people unrecognisable by voice (or that’s just what this BOS chapter does for scary points)
head-cannon but: the strength of the voice modulators also may partially explain why Danse talks like that, no tone or facial expressions mean you’ve got to talk in exact details! (I still think he ate a thesaurus :) )
Fusion cores are keyed!
And the removing said core with the key puts the armour into standby mode, disabling the armours internal manual open overide (new fear)
Some of the important wiring and or control components are on the outside of the helmet in knife range (???)
The handles on the front are for personnel transport during drops lol
The shoulder pieces are also for dropping you from a vertibird, and for maintenance at a power armour station.
You can in fact sit down!!! Assuming the thing you’re sitting on can hold the armours weight
Armor is actually bullet proof again (I understand that it’s only not included in the modern games for gameplay reasons but still)
The actual armour pieces can be popped off the sealed frame easily.
The armour does have storage scattered through it, as Maximus mentions having some radaway stashed.
Grenade in the chest plate front will blow the head and helmet off
Machine gun point blank will kill through the helmet
There is a flaw in the chest plate just below the welding that an armour piercing? round can break for the kill.
Things that aren’t directly shown but I think are a reasonable leap in logic:
If the armour has a hydration system I think it likely has other life support systems like those mentioned in fallout 2 (water recycling of some sort)
Another gameplay discrepancy but, Fusion cores in the show must last a really long time as it powers an entire vault for prolonged periods of time and Maximus only has the one core, either that or power armour is such a energy guzzler that it can use an entire communities long term worth of power in a short time.
I’m sure that there is probably more that I’ve missed!

Bonds of Smoke and Steel, ch. 6
Had this chapter mostly written for like....forever...
Full chapter over on AO3 -- chapter does have an explicit scene in it as a heads up
Preview:
"Not big on subtlety, are they?"
There was a teasing edge to Taylor's voice, but it didn't do much to erase the awe Danse could see in his face. He found himself smiling a little, more than a bit proud at the display being showcased above.
He'd been reasonably sure the Prydwen would come; several recon teams already lost to the Commonwealth, all efforts pointing to energy level anomalies that couldn't -- and shouldn't -- be ignored, and it was in keeping with Elder Maxson's hands-on approach that he would come with a strong contingent of the Brotherhood.
And that meant arriving in their pride and joy.
The Prydwen was a marvel of engineering, capable of holding an impressive number of knights, scribes, initiates, as well as their higher-ups. Danse had personal quarters of his own up there, for all he didn't have much in terms of sentimental items or keepsakes. But it was practical, with access to Proctor Ingram's armor bay, a fully functioning infirmary, labs, and plenty of space for the scribes to do their work processing and tagging any interesting technological finds -- which Danse's team had plenty to hand over.
As they watched the airborne vessel anchor itself into place over the remnants of the Boston Airport, several smaller craft detached and cycled out in scouting patterns -- Vertibirds, and Danse quickly spotted one angling in their direction.
"C'mon," he urged, heading back towards the police station. "They're going to want a full report -- and officially welcome you to our ranks."
Taylor's awe continued once they were aboard. Their Vertibird pilot had given him the go-ahead to use the mounted machine gun to track potential threats down below -- Super mutants in particular needed little prompting to try shooting them down -- and while the flight to the Prydwen was uneventful it still felt good to see Taylor get a better taste of what the Brotherhood was capable of beyond Danse's reduced recon team.
He enjoyed it while he could, tagging along as Taylor got a quick tour of the ship, a medical check-up and, Danse was pleased to note, a Brotherhood power armor set. T60, in far better shape than the man's old T45, and the Paladin was pleased to see the way Taylor smiled as the other man ran a hand along the chest plate and the insignia it bore.
Then he was whisked away to meet with Maxson amongst other initiates, and Danse took that time to file his own reports and update his team's assignments.
They met up again in the mess, news having already spread about Taylor's new rank -- well earned and well worn already, so far as Danse was concerned, and he couldn't help the burst of pride he felt when the other man joined him at last.
"Congratulations, Knight," he said, clasping Taylor's shoulder. "You deserve it."
A faint flush crept into Taylor's cheeks, that slightly crooked grin pulling at his lips and Danse fought down the urge to lean in and kiss him.
"Did Elder Maxson give you your assignment?"
"Said you and I were going to tackle Fort Strong?"
"Correct, Knight. Take a moment to familiarize yourself with your new armor and we'll depart right after."
They were taken to their destination via Vertibird, engaging in some aerial fighting when they spotted a hulking behemoth of a Super Mutant on the scene. Taylor set to the task with the sort of keen precision Danse was coming to expect from him, and he briefly wondered if the new Knight had previous aircraft experience. Not unlikely; bombers would've been more common during the earlier wars, but he wasn't as certain if they'd had craft quite like this.
Necessity breeds innovation. Something quoted to him, once, but he couldn't recall from whom.
He shook the thoughts away, refocusing, allowing himself just a moment to contemplate after, after, after. After this mission, after their reports, after they saw to their armor…
After his obligations were met, he and Taylor could finally talk.
----
"So how'd you rank your first day as an official Brotherhood Knight?"
The question was pitched low for Taylor's ears only as they made their way back along the main deck, heading towards the officers' quarters at the front of the ship. Armor seen to, reports filed with Quinlan, and Taylor's first mission as Knight was a resounding success. Other soldiers were already moving on the cleared area of Fort Strong below, securing it as a staging ground for the Brotherhood's proposed offensive against the Institute. The decks were a flurry of activity, scribes and fellow knights in full armor carrying out orders and kicking up a cacophony that left Danse feeling oddly nostalgic.
"Not bad," Taylor replied when Danse tugged open the door to his personal quarters and gestured for the other man to go ahead of him. It would be a bit quieter here, at least, than trying to have any manner of conversation in the mess -- even if the conversation wasn't private in nature. And this one decidedly was.
If Danse didn't lose his nerve, at least.
"'Not bad?'"
"Don't have much to compare it to," Taylor pointed out, falling onto Danse's bunk without preamble. He leaned back, legs dangling off the edge as he stretched and folded his hands under his head. His hair was curling slightly, still drying from his brief wash, and Danse found himself distracted all over again. Found himself following the line of Taylor's throat to where it led to the slightly open collar of his shirt, dipping into a hollow he knew from personal experience was a sweet spot for the other man.
Found himself wishing the showers aboard the Prydwen weren't heavily rationed, that they could go back to Sanctuary and its greater privacy and its illusions of having all the time in the world.
"Danse?"
"Right." Danse cleared his throat, shaking his head. "That's… fair. Very fair. Well, take it from me, then -- you did an exemplary job down there, Taylor."
"Thank you?"
"…was that a question?"
Taylor was eyeing him now, an eyebrow cocked.
"I mean, I meant it, but…" Taylor pushed himself up, bracing his elbows on his knees and letting his hands dangle loosely between them. "Kinda getting the feeling you're…distracted. Everything okay?"
"I'm…"
Danse swallowed, feeling oddly exposed and pinned into place by that hazel gaze.
"I…I wanted to…I'm not sure how to… I did want to talk with you, if that….if that's okay."
Taylor's brow furrowed.
"Of course," he replied. "You know you can talk to me about anything, Danse."
"…Thank you." Still, he hesitated, clearing his throat again. Wished not for the first time that he had Taylor's ease with words, with expressing himself. That unassuming confidence, that surety in himself. "I… wanted to talk to you about…about our relationship."
Taylor was frowning now.
"…I… is there a…problem? I thought you said fraternization --"
"--no, no, there's no problem. There's no issue, not… not like that."
"Then like what?"
"Not…" Danse sighed, running a set of fingers through his own still-damp hair. "That came out wrong. There isn't an issue, technical or otherwise."
Taylor's shoulders relaxed. "Okay, that's…that's good…"
"I just, I wanted… I mean, I've enjoyed what we…what we've done, so far. With the um."
"Kissing?"
"That," Danse agreed, his cheeks on fire. "I was just… I guess curious, where you uh… where you stood on…"
Taylor blinked at him, cocking his head to the side as he considered him. Danse felt doubly exposed as those hazel eyes tracked up and down the length of his body.
"…are you asking if I'd want to do…more than kissing?"
This shouldn't have been difficult. Why was it difficult? He'd had his tongue in Taylor's mouth, sucked bruises into the hollow of his throat, along his collarbones, just below where anyone might see them. He'd had Taylor's hands on his body -- over the clothes for the most part, sure, but…still.
Why did it feel bigger, somehow, to ask to do that with less separating them?
"…yes."

Fallout S1:E1 - The End
Not too bad. Sets the scene pretty well. If you are new to the Fallout universe it’s a good opener to give you a taste of what is to come and things associated with the show/games. Not too lore heavy. You can come in blind and won’t be super lost.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Spoliers and Deep Dive ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The news bulletin about the was in Anchorage is a nice touch. Also it touches on the reason why the Vault Boy/Girl do the thumbs up(yes that actually was a real method told to people). They are apparently only focusing their inspiration form Fallout 4/Fallout 76. Which isn’t too surprising as it’s the newest games, but kinda sad that they are ignoring the foundational games.
The vault looks great. It gives the right feel and is decorated like still “functioning” vaults in game. Now that being said, *ahem* WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS INTERVAULT DOOR BULLSHIT?!?!?!? Like that’s never been a thing ever. Also for being a vault in California it’s rather well stocked with British made submachine guns (the sterling). It seems the raiders were smart enough to bring their leather armor pieces, although only brought melee weapons? No guns? Just knives and bats? I guess for ease of concealment sure. If you are confused by that dart/tranq gun don’t worry, so are we as Fallout fans. That has never existed in the games. Sure there was the Syringer from Fallout 4, but that is a homebrew weapon. The council also seems quite calm about being attacked by raiders but then scared to open the main Vault door. Hello?!?! News flash the raiders breeched Vault 32 and then breeched you.
I hate how the Brotherhood is portrayed. It’s a thing that started in like Fallout 4(and in Fallout 3 to a small extent) and it seems that they are just continuing it. They are made out to be tech obsessed commandos trying to be the new government. Which isn’t too far off, but they are more for controlling and using technology. A lot of my gripes are somewhat small. Why are the T60s so shiny? Are these motherfuckers out here polishing power armor? Tell me why they also have their targeting monocles down all the time? Also Dane, buddy there is no way you wouldn’t realize you were putting on a boot laced with razor blades. 1)You would see it, 2)you would feel it long before your foot was fully in the boot.
The Junkjet was nice to see. I have no idea about the chicken thing. If he was feral you wouldn’t need a chicken to tell you that, he would just come after you.
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Overall there were nice little touches fans will appreciate and there were no egregious points of retconing. There are some hints of Todd Howard just making stuff up or allowing things to be made up. I hope this doesn’t continue, but I won’t hold my breath.
Final score - 7/10
