i just wanted to provide some thoughts on the harper and rosé one first bc its important to me 😌 cus i was thinking abt harper and how in my head and heart of hearts she would be the kid who thought you get pregnant from kissing and i dont think she ever really grew out of that belief. <- this ended up spawning the idea of harper being a sex-repulsed ace and i will die on this hill actually. fight me or die, you die either way actually nvm

this is just a buncha blorbos i dont know what to tell you really. sketch pages like these always end up so weird for me bc for some reason my brain always wants the characters in them to interact in some way. whether that be talking or just reacting to what the other is doing... its something i cant stop with, its so stupid and silly and i hate it and i love it. where else would i see kabru slowly losing his mind with how loud phoenix wright is in court????

I will make a proper post for The Saint of Steel illustrations later, but for now here are some sketches and close-ups <3 After reading books, I convinced my editors to change their armor to how it described in books, so paladins on covers have chainmails and tabards! Just on the covers for Paladin's Strength and Paladin's Faith the armor is different because of the plot. Also, I spent too many hours painting Stephen because he deserves it, yeah.

For any Halsin enjoyers out there, I cannot highly recommend enough the Saint of Steel book series by T. Kingfisher (especially the audiobooks).

Y’all like big dudes who are Very Aware of being big? But also intensely middle-aged (except for the younger ones)? Exceptionally good at violence but also exceptionally caring and conscious and one of them is really into knitting socks for the others? Each book covers a different paladin (of the Saint of Steel) and each one has a different love interest and I have been into every one of them?

And the women characters are all an absolute goddamn delight: from the naive perfume nerd to the bear nun (you read that right) to the gay coroner lich (who is a dude so technically he’s in the wrong section here), to the master spy. I would kill and die for any of them.

And I’m done. Seriously though. It’s like these cozy fantasy mystery romances about berserkers who can and have probably split a guy in half with an ax just trying to like. Do their job. And fall in love. And feel guilty about that because they’re all goddamn paladins.
