A new divide Returning A wake-up from The old spring And I'm feeling very strange now, strange now And it’s feeling like a crack in the self, crack in the self And it’s getting very different now all the time And we’re gonna shout it out of blue, whole and new We saw our fates We’re burning Through space and time With knowledge sings And I'm feeling very strange now, strange now And it’s feeling like a crack in the self, crack in the self And it’s getting very different now all the time And we’re gonna shout it out of blue, whole and new Back to the old land Back to the old land Old land, Old land Old land Old land Old land Old land Old land

Bound By Endogamy - s/t LP - synth-punk from Switzerland
Geneva-based duo Bound By Endogamy delivers a heavy blend of rave, synth-punk, and industrial music. Shlomo Balexert and Kleio Thomaïdes are both prominent figures in the local squat and punk scene, having been involved in numerous projects over the past decade. Following several cassette releases and a remarkable debut 7'' on Lux Records, the band presents a self-titled album that combines raw, growling basslines, crisp analog rhythms, and passionate vocals ranging from breathy to fiercely cutting. On stage, the project consists of drums, a sampler, and vocals. Shlomo handles the drums alongside sharp synthesizers, while Kleio delivers powerful vocals reminiscent of a professional boxer. Expect a fusion of DAF and Kleenex with a hardcore edge. Junktion Rivers was previously released on LUX REC :)

Abomination, Lynks (2024)
On full-length debut Abomination, it’s clear just how much Lynks suited the shorter format of an EP or single; in those snapshot releases they revealed a fleeting and mysterious insight into (what felt like) an ungraspable, multifaceted enigma. A lengthier release, instead of revealing a more complex and intriguing artist, instead shows too much. Much of Abomination is one-dimensional and formulaic, revealing that Lynks’ dichotomies and paradoxes and general schtick aren’t so teeming with guile and nuance but instead pretty goofy.Â

The Serfs - Half Eaten By Dogs

Yeah Yeah Yeahs - It's Blitz!
A childhood memory that I always associate with this album is hearing Skeletons through crappy airplane headphones on a flight to visit my home country. The song felt so out-of-place with the rest of the songs on the playlist, which is what drew me to it so strongly. Karen O's crooning vocal melodies, which are present throughout the whole album, is encapsulated in melancholic synths and marching drums. The rest of the album features the same sweeping vocals paired with a myriad of genres, from the disco rock of "Zero" and "Heads Will Roll", to the softer instrumentals of "Soft Shock" and "Hysteric".
Favourites:

Heads Will Roll
Soft Shock
Skeletons
Dull Life
Shame and Fortune

the gross mischaracterisation of Steve Harrington's music taste is an unbearable crime goddamnit, this man has never even heard a pop song in his life! All the music he plays is either rock, new wave or indie music, we see this at his party and so the music playing in his car (which you can find lists of on what-song and similar sites).
someone on reddit noticed Steve is also wearing an outfit identical to one Freddie Mercury wore the same year season 4 is set. In fact, Steve regularly dresses similarly to Freddie Mercury, the more I look the more I see there's definitely influences of Freddie's casual fashion (not his show looks) in Steve's style; some of them, like the yellow jumper look the redditor noticed, are almost like for like. Why is this unusual? Maybe because Queen had tanked in America at the time, America's radio stations found them insulting in fact, so it's a big deal that Steve had Queen playing in his car, it means it wasn't on the radio by chance... he owned a copy himself
I'll have to rewatch but I'm pretty sure the only times Steve has mainstream 80s disco, dance or synth pop anywhere near him it's either someone else's party he's a guest at, and therefore has no say in the music, or he's referencing it to make fun of it (ie Tammy Thompson, and even then it was still pop rock).
Steve is a rock, by the looks of it mostly British bands too, I wouldn't be surprised if he knows The Clash just as well as Jonathan does and it's time people realize that and respect it
(edit: my dumbass misread post-punk as punk, feel free to throw rocks)
Stop making his Vecna songs disco, synth pop music and make it something he's actually shown to listen to
#steve harrington#stranger things#steve listens exclusively to rock punk or indie stop forcing synth pop on him#vecna#vecna stranger things
