David listens to like, classic 90s rock. Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins - that whole lot. He also really likes classic, OG 80s metal (metallica, judas priest, dio, etc.). He developed his music taste from 95 to 99 and never really got into stuff after that. Hes a grumpy old man about his music and will never stray from his ol reliable stack of dusty CDs. Where he's a grandpa about his music though, this man will watch basically any movie that comes out and say "that was pretty good" in his opinion cinema peaked with 2001 a Space Odyssey and Saving Private Ryan. Hal tried to show him Akira or Ghost in the Shell and he got wayyyyyy confused. He doesn't really watch TV other than blankly staring at history channel and animal planet "documentaries" and manly man reality TV shows when there's nothing better to do

Hal has a really eclectic collection of music that is constantly changing. However the most common thread of music he likes is 80s New Wave and synth - The Smiths, The Cure, Depeche Mode, Joy Division, Duran Duran. That kinda stuff. However his playlist went on to be full of vocaloid songs, neo-synthwave, break core and he got into more experimental stuff as he got older (even then he never fully dug deep, just started listening to Bjork and Kate Bush yk?) He also loves soundtracks and *loves* lofi hip hop. We already basically know Hal's taste in movies/tv so instead im gonna say his favorite anime movie is Akira, his favorite non-anime movie is Brazil and if you ask him his favorite anime he'll go on and on and on about a super obscure mecha anime from the 80s. I think hes a massive cinephile and huge nerd about his movies and shows but it's literally only for anime and sci fi and occasionally action stuff. Ask him about the complexities of Apocalypse Now or the symbolism in Blue Velvet and he'll just give you a blank stare.

Sunny ended up with like. The weirdest combination of her parents tastes. She LOVESSSSS vocaloid and LOVESSSS anime but in a tweenager in the mid 2010s way you know. This girl was in the Black Butler, Attack on Titan, Fairy Tale, Soul Eater TRENCHES. She also got into a lot of alt music but it was. you know. Fall Out Boy and Panic at the Disco and baby's first alt band stuff. What a crazy lil gal.

Raiden was a nu-metal kid big time. He was always bumping Korn and Slipknot and System of a Down. He was also really into 90s industrial like Rammstein, Nine Inch Nails, and KMFDM. He kinda grew out of this but not really, just mellowed out and got into more 'mainstream' alt like Radiohead and Elliot Smith. As we know, Raiden is a canonical filmbro (getting into fights with random women about pointless details in movies). I think he lovessssss neo noir and crime thrillers. Anything dark and gritty he just adores. Taxi Driver, Fight Club, Fallen Angels, Clockwork Orange, Crash, Prisoners <- whatevere this genre is he just eats that shit up. Hes a total snob, but not like. In a french film school way in a over 500 entries on letterboxd way. He's subscribed to like evry major movie review channel and it's impossible to take him out to any kinoplex because he just starts ranting on the state of modern cinema. He still maintains this snobbery and its only gotten worse lmao

I liked that she didn't kick blitz out but gave him a chance to see it all. it showed maturity on her part and a will to find understanding between them.

And a few other people in game haha she’s friends with ghouls mostly and of course she meets Deacon the love of her life I’m not sure if she’d really meet strong or cait since that’s like scary stuff she gotta go thru first and she does meet curie but I never get around to making her a synth so lol she’s kinda on glory’s side of that’s weird don’t put someone’s brain into someone else’s dead body

jay- none whatsoever, fully no contact, even when she was still in her story. whit and darkjay are in the same boat (they're au versions of jay, there's dimension hopping involved in my stories lmao) lucien- great relationship with his older brother, currently rebuilding a relationship with his father, had an amazing relationship with his mother when she was alive adrian- his parents weren't great, and after a backstory thing where he ended up separated from them for a long time, he never really looked for them hailey- none, she was taken from her birth parents as a baby due to having two tails, a rare genetic mutation among dragonlings that basically meant she was adopted by a high class family rev, iden, and a background character emi were raised in the same village where essentially the whole village raised all the kids, so blood relatives were treated pretty similar to everyone else. none of them are in contact with any of their village anymore. verne- doesn't really remember his parents, as with much of his life before creaturae. according to him, they were "boring, like npcs with no personality," though he admits he remembers a lot of people like that petals- doesn't remember them at all, lived on the streets since he was a little kid, thinks they probably just abandoned him and is somewhat bitter about it mckenzie- unclear! i've never thought about their backstory before for some reason. i'd say their relationship with their blood relatives is amicable but they don't see each other very often. basil- conspired to have their father killed. it's fine, he was extremely homophobic and also a capitalist

“Y/N, how do you know this lead is any good?” Nick questions. We’ve been on a missing persons case for a week now and we hit a dead end until one of my sources from the wasteland gave me insight on what could be happening. “I told you Nick, just trust me on this and we’ll get the woman back to her family, okay?” I stop for a moment and place my hand on his shoulder, “We’ll find her Nicky.” He sighs and nods, giving me a gentle smile before we keep heading to the building that stands before us.

The building is dilapidated, falling apart even as we walk through the broken glass of the door, the stench of rotting and fresh meat and blood invades my senses. This lead may be more dangerous than I anticipated. I pull out my Plasma Rifle and start to survey the area, Nick following my lead and drawing his Western Revolver. “Now Doll, I do trust you, don’t get me wrong, but did you just lead us to a nest of Super Mutants?” pipes up my partner in a hushed voice, “Well, Nicky, I didn’t really think this is what my contact had in mind for where the girl might be.” I reply through gritted teeth, not wanting to risk being loud and being spotted.

We spend a good hour surveying the area, taking down about 5 of the brutes before we find the group, the boss sitting upon a meat throne, his followers around him snacking on food, and the woman. She’s up in a cage, bleeding but not so much that she’s anywhere close to dying. For now. “And what do we have here? More puny humans for me? Gutsoul deserves more blood.” Booms the loud voice of the mutant, oddly well spoken for someone of his type. No wonder he’s the leader I suppose. “We’re just here to get the woman ‘Gutsoul’. We get the girl, and we won’t kill you. Simple.” I say, standing my ground on the subject. Nick is close behind me, a hand hovering on the small of my back, still holding his revolver in the other, leaning down slightly to whisper in my ear, “Doll, it’s not smart to rile up a mutant, you know that right?”, “Nicky, honey, I know what I’m doing.” I retort, waiting for the mutant to respond. “Graag, grab the woman human. She’s annoying me.” Orders Gutsoul, the larger Mutant charges over to me and grabs my arms, locking them behind my body as I squirm and try to worm my way out of the grapple. Nick raises his revolver to shoot before I shake head “No” at him, needing to stay away from this fight. I won’t let him get hurt.

It’s been a day, maybe two since 2 of the mutants took me, leaving Nick Valentine, the best detective of the Commonwealth, to bargain with the brutes. It hasn’t been fun to say the least. While alone I think about him the most. He’s always been there for me, helped me, and the look in those yellow eyes two days ago when I was grabbed, the worry and desperation to get me back made me blush. He treats me well. He’s one of the closest people in my life at the moment, which is hard to come by in a post-apocalyptic world like this. “Food for human lady.” Says one of the two towards me, throwing a piece of stale bread towards me. Hey, it's better than irradiated mudcrab meat. Biting off the tough pieces of bread I look around the cage I’m in, trying to find an exit, a broken pipe I can use to attack the two before me. They look like the weakest, it’s why they’re stationed here to look after me.

I’m still trying to find a way out before I hear yelling and gunfire. The two watching me go to see the situation. Dammit Nick. “You get out, run back to Diamond City!” I hear the Synth yell. Probably towards that woman. What the fuck did he do? “Doll! Doll!? Where are you?” A small, sad smile appears on my face. “I’m here Nicky! I’m stuck in this stupid cage, they took all my shit.” And they had, I was only in my singlet and underwear when Nick came to help me. “Fuck Doll. That’s one shiner.” He points to my face before starting to lockpick the cage open. He hugs me once the door is open. He’s warm. He puts his coat over my shoulders before we go to find my things. He’s rushing around. Frantic almost. “Hey Nicky, Nick, slow down.” I say softly, reaching my hand out towards his shoulder, his white dress shirt slightly unbuttoned down the front, his slacks have blood on them and his hat is slightly shifted on his head. “Doll, I coulda lost ya. If I weren’t fast enough I coulda…” He trails off. “Hey, hey, I survived a nuclear blast, albeit in a bunker and frozen but, if I could survive that, I’ll survive anything. I’ll always come back to you.” He hugs me again. So, so tightly. Almost too tightly, this synth is stronger than he thinks. “Don’t you ever leave again Y/N.” He looks into my eyes and I can’t help but smile. This man is too good for anyone.

Once we arrived back at Diamond City, the young woman was there at Nick’s detective agency, thanking him profusely for his help in saving her. I smirk watching the scene unfold and start looking at files of other cases we could take after a small break. “And I was wondering, Detective, if we could go on a date, I’ll show you a good time, for all the help you gave me.” the woman says to him, very seductively. You wouldn’t have thought she spent almost 2 weeks with super mutants. She plays with the collar of his coat before he says, very flustered, “Oh uh, that’s sweet of ya Dollface but I don’t date previous clients. Just how I do the job.” I giggle to myself, listening to him. That’s a lie, I think so myself. She tries again with her advances before I finally save him from the awkward encounter. “Hey Nicky, what about this case? Missing daughter, she’s only 12. We should get a start on it soon.” I yell towards him, still looking at the file. It’s empty, but the woman doesn’t know that. “Alright Doll, I’m coming. You’re welcome for the help kid.” He then walks towards me and the woman leaves with almost a huff. Nick places a hand on the small of my back and I rest my head back onto his shoulder. “You still got it Nicky, get any pretty lady on your case.” I smirk, looking up towards him. “I’ve already got the best lady.” He replies before placing a soft kiss on my forehead.

LASTLY I SAW YOU WERE INTERESTED IN HONEYWORKS! im worried i'll hit the character limit for asks but i'll try to give a brief summary of honeyworks itself! hnw is a japanese music group that started out with producing vocaloid songs! if you're familiar with vFlower (the vocal synth), hnw also produces him! anyway, their core members are Gom and shito, who compose the music, and yamako and mogelatte as their illustrators. they started with vocaloid songs but eventually branched out to human singers, and they're also well-known for collaborating with the singer CHiCO! and in 2014, they made a professional debut as an independent music circle with their third album and the beginning of Kokuhaku Jikkou Iinkai (Confession Executive Committee) or otherwise known as Confession Series as a multi-media franchise!

Now, Confession Executive Committee, which is too long for my own sanity so we call it CEC, is divided into two series, Love Series and Idol Series. they share some characters and character relationships (such as the shibasaki brothers and the narumi sisters) and exist in the same universe. most of everything happens in sakuragaoka high school, and love series takes place here almost entirely. i'm unsure if you wanna learn more about love series, but a brief cut on it is it's about three different classes (which are referred to by the fandom as generation 1-3) and their very fluffy high school romances. pls lmk if you wanna know more bc im gonna focus on the idols!

idol series is the one i've probably talked about too much, but of course it generally centers around idols such as lipxlip's shibasaki aizou and someya yuujirou, minami, mona, and full throttle4's rio, megu, dai, yui, and iv! romance in the idol series is never fully fleshed out yet also incredibly heavily referenced and expressed, as it focuses on the struggles and experiences of idols before, during, and after their debut into the idol industry! i've already talked an incredulous amount abt lipxlip but i also have more to say, most of their songs and MVs are hard to understand on the surface bc most of them exist as in-universe music videos (for example, if you watch the romeo MV of lipxlip you might think these two dumbasses are trying to woo princess sena, when in fact this is?? acting?? it's hard to explain but they're not really princes and the events of romeo as well as a good number of other MVs are entirely fictional, both in-universe and out. sena, my beloved, is featured in the love series and has a canon love interest! so she only views lipxlip professionally. and also aizou and yuujirou are. themselves.) part of lipxlip's stories is also suzumi hiyori! while she isn't an idol herself, she serves as lipxlip's manager in training and is constantly being tormented by these two fuckers. but they care about her a lot i swear. they're just like that™. there's a currently airing anime that centers on her story, it's titled heroine tarumono! kiraware heroine to naisho no oshigoto (heroines run the show! the unpopular girl and the secret task). she's listed as part of the love series but ⚫👄⚫ i pretend i do not see /j

Quinn being Director to the Institute is not common knowledge. Common knowledge among the surface is that she as General of the Minutemen negotiated a peace alliance with the Institute. Unless your muse is IN the Institute or we’ve spent a significant amount of time writing and developing stuff together, your muse isn’t going to know. 

Shaun being “The Father” is not known to others. Towards the end of the game, (Synth) Shaun will begin to appear and be seen in Sanctuary/Diamond City but she does not disclose that he is a synth to anyone. For all intents and purposes, her companions and others think that Quinn was able to rescue her son from the Institute after all. 

No, she doesn’t support the Institute. She doesn’t like or trust (most) of the people within it. I’ve talked about this extensively, but ultimately she’s commandeering control of them in order to utilize their science and technology for better means. You can read more details of that here. That doesn’t make it right but just know she’s just as much against the shit the Institute’s done as everyone else, but unfortunately if humanity is to survive and thrive then it will need technology to help revitalize the surface and purge radiation. 

The Railroad HQ is destroyed. All of command is killed. This is (unfortunately) a hard line aspect that doesn’t change to Quinn’s canon storyline. I’ll explain why in my last point.

The Brotherhood gets destroyed as well. Again, this is canon to her storyline choices. If you have issue writing that I get it, which is why I made a companion verse for Quinn and a plethora of other verses for people to play in.

Since people keep getting surprised, this is also a major thing. You didn’t think you were interacting with the real deal this whole time, right? The plot twist is right in the URL lmao.

Some of these may drift into canon or the down right obvious but Ill give it my best shot :3

-he wasn’t quite as old as he sounds/acts/seems in the post war as when he died (or more accurately had the memory scan thing). We can see that Dima can develop as a person (its the entire premise of his creation) so I don’t think that it’s a far stretch to imagine that Nick is less of a direct simulation and more of an AI based on the old Nick Valentine’s experiences. It’s supported in more areas but I think that Nick is fully capable of human growth, and that he’s not just a captured personality like the robots at graygarden. With personal growth comes some sort of ‘age’, and i think Nick’s age so to speak sort of depends upon how many experiences he can remember (on top of the vaguer ones from his previous life). He’s well over a hundred, but he doesn’t remember all the time that made that up, so he’s sort of trapped in his 50s-60s

-he actively wants to move away from the old nick (identifying as a new separate entity) because with accepting that a new body doesn’t necessarily mean a new him, means accepting all of the guilt and baggage that comes with being Nick. Essentially, due to trauma he’s wanting to put it off in some sort of way with the justification that it didn’t happen to him so he doesn’t have to deal with it. This can come from anywhere from being shot (more on that big change to the canon headcanon soon), to losing his family he’d made before the war with my ‘sole’ survivor, the circumstances of his childhood, but also the guilt of being a cop in a fascistic country and basically serving ideals he didn’t necessarily agree with (but still carried out meaning that he gets fair blame for his part regardless)

- despite wanting to be separate, he has a sort of double standard where he still likes to think of the good parts of his life and the good things he had accomplished as belonging to him. I can’t blame him for being hesitant to let go of these things, but he is really shirking the blame for who he was with the worlds greatest excuse (and this isnt to dismiss his trauma, from before the war and who hes become against his will. he just needs to grow and own up for who he for good and for bad like the rest of humanity)

-Jenny Lands was his partner, not his fiance, and shot Nick herself after Winter got her in a hold so to speak. I’ll admit, this headcanon really does serve my personal story for Nick and Ben (where the were together pre war), but I also thing that it does still hold interesting enough to be heard about. Or I hope it does. Basically, Nick and Jenny were partners as well as good friends, but when Winter retaliated and put Jenny’s family and lifestyle in danger she chose to do as she was told and shoot to kill her partner. Nick survives this, and its the ensuing difficulties facing the betrayal and being shot etc that hes ordered to have his brain scanned over. This change mostly comes from me wanting to keep jenny as an important character so that she would not be erased or demonised (she made a choice nick would have had the situation been reversed)so that a mlm ship could work better sdhjdfs

-He feels guilty at the prospect of liking who he is. This ties into the guilt of who he was, a not a bad person doing bad things. He was doing what he could to get by, and when doing the right thing meant sacrificing the lifestyle he’d managed to scrape up he couldn’t carry it out. Its a lot easier to see 2 centuries later how wrong that was, but he refuses to put himself in the same headspace he had back then, when opposing the status quo could land him and his family in prison or worse. He like a lot (wider headcanon here) of pre war survivors bares the guilt of the government they suffered underneath. he likes to make derogatory remarks to himself because they feel deserved and

-he gets in the habit of putting himself down to feel less off putting to others. For the most part when he’s confident in who he is as a synth, its like hes performing it because he knows he should be, but he doesnt really believe in it or himself. He cracks jokes at himself when other people do (not hurtful jokes, playful ones that do end up hurting him) because if he laughs along hes more likely to be liked, and to him, the more people like him the easier it is for them to afford him his humanity. he doesnt have enough sense of self to afford it to himself, he depends on others to let him know his existence is worthwhile. i hope im explaining that point alrightkjdlgg

shorter bitesized headcanons:

-his mouth smells and tastes like an ashtray and a great amount of his ‘skin’ particularly in his mouth is nicotine stained. With the advent of increased self worth he starts looking after himself more

-he doent need to sleep, but he likes to in his own way. how slow can he run one diagnostic and turn on his thoughts in the meanwhile? as long as he likes. the harder the case hes on the more he likes to let his thoughts rest and drift away in a grandpa nap

-he cant feel things very well, for the most part he can only feel pressure (say you were to grab his arm) or pain (say you were to grab his arm harder). textures absolutely elude him

-he writes in cursive similar to how he did before the war, but no matter how hard he tries to make it look natural all the letters are replicated the same and his writing looks like a font typeface. watching him write is hypnotic

-he really digs into books, he’ll dogear them and leave them open face down on the page fuck the binding, he highlights passages he likes and he keeps them absolutely everywhere save for his bookshelf. he wears glasses when he reads because his optics arent up to scratch any more (the kind of glasses that have a beaded string around them so he doesnt lose them lmao)

marigold. i do have a way old mojaveverse thats kind of a nice ending where atti n richter head west and basically become an old quiet couple trying to live the moral life and keeping a bit to themselves. richter would still serve atom but he probably wouldnt be super obvious or loud about it… but if marigold had a bad reputation in goodsprings they might hear of it and richter would be a grumpy old man on his porch telling her to get off their irradiated lawn !
