I CAN be normal about the Arbiter. The scene where he's publicly stripped naked does NOT affect me. There is absolutely NOTHING hot about how he's forced to wear armor held together by a leather harness. Keith David's voice is NOT the most attractive thing I've ever heard. I am UNAFFECTED by his collosal height and the length of his fingers. His mouth is UNAPPEALING and would NOT feel awesome. There is ABSOLUTELY NO homoerotic tension between him and any other character.

Sangheili Trans Headcanons
I said I would do it, so now i will! (Note: (C) means a canon fact (HC) means an unrelated to trans headcanon. just so I'm not giving false canon information.)
While it goes from keep to keep, Sangheili are...accepting, ish. of trans people.
Sangheili have strict gender roles, especially during covenant times. Men train for being in the military, in space on ships, and to constantly raise in rank and be the best warrior or you're a failure.(C)
Meanwhile woman are the ones that stay home, raising children, handling the agriculture(C) guarding of the keep(HC) and in general running things while men are gone.
Expectations. And trans people are no exceptions.
Say you are a trans woman, you've been in the military and decide to come out. You will be expected to pick up womans duties. Thus you are kicked from the military, must return home and learn the expectations and experience of the other woman, and vice-versa.
Though do to the different experience growing up, you are a step behind the rest. This is particularly difficult for trans men, especially those who come out after the age normally men would already be off to war.
It is instead encouraged to come out before that age. Due to lack of sexual dimorphism, (In canon from the kilo-5 trilogy it is noted woman look the same but are smaller then men, though in my headcanons i always saw woman as larger then the men due to different evolution and the different types of training they do. Also big woman <3) it makes hiding the fact you are trans easier. It is expected if possible you hide it, and it's unlikely someone in your keep will out it because they do not want it being a strike among their keep.
It also comes to babies. Men do not raise their children(C) and thus, if you are a trans man and have a child, you are expected to have them in secret, only the elders allowed to know, then give them up to the commons to be raised as an orphan. You will have nothing with them.
Those that come out after their adulthood and cannot hide it are often hit with doubt and low expectations from those around them, and struggle to get any actual standings.
Although there is one problem to hiding it; the Jiralhanae. Due to them able to smell pheromones, and woman and men having separate ones, more then one higher up has been accidentally (Or purposefully) called out.
So due to the hardships you can face, and some trans people not wanting to give up the rolls they were raised for, most stay silent despite the "Acceptance." Of course once the Swords Of Sangheilios came about, some felt more comfortable due to woman allowed to fight(C) and after the covenants disbandment many stayed in the keep more often, including men.
Are there any canon characters i think would be trans with these headcanons? Yes, though I know many would likely disagree; Xytan Jar 'Wattinree. Again this is a personal headcanon! Spurred on between me and my partner as we headcanoned woman were taller, which gave into Xytan's height, and the fact Xytan's daughter knows her fathers properties and fights to keep them, but a "Mother" is never mentioned.
Aka i threw a thought out like spaghetti and it stuck to the wall-
I hope this makes sense! If ya'll got any questions I'm happy to answer, and I would love to hear your LGBT+ headcanons!

HALO: BATTLE FOR THE BLOOD-MOON
2560. The Banished have come to Suban, the blood-moon of Sanghelios, seeking to claim the unique natural resource within its vast mines: the beautiful but volatile Subanese crystals. The Swords of Sanghelios and their Spartan allies face an overwhelming force on the ground, while a Sangheili shipmistress in the skies above seeks to find a weakness in the enemy’s armor that might turn the tide against these invaders.

How do you handle sexual dimorphism in sangheili? How do females physically differ from males, if at all?
Tumblr media
Females do differ from the males, but only by a little bit. Sangheili don’t have much in the way of sexual dimorphism and can be fairly difficult to tell the difference between the two sexes. Female Sangheili are generally described to be slimmer and slightly shorter than the males are.
Some more fun facts about Sangheili women;
Osoona within the Covenant were sometimes female due to their smaller frames. Osoona were basically spies and having a smaller/lighter frame would often give female Sangheili in the field an advantage. Osoona was also one of the very few positions in the Covenant that somewhat openly allowed Sangheili women to join the Covenant military (combat oriented positions specifically) as, previously, they were not allowed to. Female Sangheili were often left on their birth worlds where they rarely left planet side. They remained there to care for young, train them, care from the keep itself, manage politics and served as a last ditch effort defense system should their home worlds, like Sanghelios, ever experience an invasion. It wasn’t until Rtas ‘Vadum came across Tul ‘Juran in battle that Rtas decided to convince Thel ‘Vadam to allow women into the military of Swords of Sanghelios. Before this, outside of Osoona, Sangheili women in the military were an extreme rarity, even now they’re still a rather uncommon occurrence.
These images are the only canon visuals we have of a Sangheili woman, Tul ‘Juran, Scion of her keep. The other Elite in the images is Rtas and the other being is a San ‘Shyuum Prelate I forgot the name of. Tul ‘Juran and Rtas are to thank for Sangheili women getting slightly more recognition within their military ranks.
I’m also going to add that the depiction of a female Sangheili in Legends, while the story is canon, the art style absolutely is not and the Halo Online project was incredibly stylized and later, abandoned. But that project does depict both male and female options of Sangheili there too.

Timeline of named Sangheili women. I am pretty sure this is all of them who matter, and several of them who very much don't because this is Halo we're talking about.
2009: Sanj'ik - offhand mention on the Halo Wars xbox launch site
Tumblr media
2010: Han - Halo Legends: The Duel, Fal's wife.
Tumblr media
God the stylization was wild especially considering they did Not do this with Fal...
2011: Raia 'Mdama - Glasslands, Jul 'Mdama's wife who searches for him after he goes missing, gets involved in Events, and is killed in The Thursday War.
2012: Elar 'Nas, Shobar, Umira - 3 other Sangheili women who are killed during The Thursday War.
2014: Broken Circle has a handful of named Sangheili women, enough that I'm not going to try to list them all since it's been a few years since I read this book. The memorable ones are Sooln 'Xellus and Lnur 'Mol. Sooln is the wife of the founder of the renegade Sangheili colony at Refuge, and Lnur who's from a clan with an "unorthodox" protector-of-eggs tradition (she knows how to fight).
2015: Mahkee 'Chava - Halo 5, Swords of Sanghelios pilot radio voice character. Also appeared in a 2023 waypoint short story Battle for the Blood Moon.
2015 (later): Tul 'Juran - Shadow of Intent, scion of a keep, goes on an adventure with Rtas and pals and inspires the Swords of Sanghelios to let women fight.
Tumblr media
2016: Kasha 'Hilot, Dinnat 'Hilot - Lessons Learned, a short story in the Fractures anthology. Kasha is one of the people in charge of security and I am pretty sure also the school at Paxopolis, a joint human/sangheili/unggoy city build to support research inside the dyson sphere at Onyx. Dinnat is a bit character with only one mention from the same clan. Kasha also featured in Legacy of Onyx in 2017.
2021: Olabisi Varo'dai - I actually forgot the mention in Divine Wind, she's much more memorable in Outcasts from 2024. Olabisi is very cool, she's a high kaidon and has an all-female team of rangers. (It is my professional Halo opinion that dialing in on some of her backstory could be really interesting.)
2022: Meduu the Fierce - 2022 Halo Encyclopedia. No, really, I'm pretty sure Xytan 'Jar Wattinree's big intimidating daughter was invented for the encyclopedia.
And.... that's it, gang's all here. If I have missed someone I have truly missed them cause I think this is everyone.

You've had to work alongside elites a few times, between the Schism and the Swords of Sanghelios. How's that compare to working with UNSC forces? Any tactics/teamwork differences you have to get used to with them? Anything they do better that you think others could learn from?
Lot of what I have to say is colored more by years of fighting them than fighting with them. More experience.
It's awkward because they expect it to be awkward. As long as me and the Sangheili are clear on who's leading and which direction we're shooting, we start moving and it's fine. They don't socialize with me.
They're bigger and stronger than humans and you can push Sangheili to cover ground faster than a UNSC squad. They react quickly to surprises and don't stun easy. They start training as kids and it shows.
Downside: They can get predictable because the Covenant taught obedience over initiative. Once you know how Sangheili were trained to react without thinking, you know what almost all of them will usually do when they don't have time to think. You can use that.
When they do have time to think, personal honor can hold them back. They are resistant to tactics they think are too quiet or underhanded, and a Sangheili commander usually waits too long to pull back from a bad situation when he finally has to.
I can work with allies where needed. I'm not personally penning suggestions to the admiralty about adopting Sangheili ideas.

Did You Know that the Shadow of Intent is effectively a mobile mass grave? During the Great Schism, boarding actions triggered the release of damage control foam, entombing warriors in interior compartments that still remain inaccessible.

I forgor to post here lol
This is Xyza, my Sangheili OC. She was an ex-Covenant and Swords of Sanghelios member, now a traveling mercenary.
Xyza wears a modified spec-ops armour and helmet that she's been wearing since her Covenant days. She's earned the nickname ''White Owl'' among human clients.
