What is Swimming Pool Draining and Refilling Service
Swimming pool draining and refilling service is the process of maintaining the quality of pool water. Swimming pool draining is very important because pool experts mix chlorine in water to maintain its Ph temperature. Firstly pool experts drain the whole water of the pool after that clean and wash the pool, its walls and equipment. Then pool experts refill the pool with fresh water.
Complete Pool Servicing Company provides the best swimming pool draining and refilling service in Henderson Nevada USA. Complete pool servicing company always provides whole swimming pool services like cleaning, maintenance, draining , refilling and pool repairs.

There are many Benefits of Pool Draining and Refilling ➖
1. Improved Water Quality: Draining and refilling eliminates the accumulation of minerals, chemicals, and contaminants, resulting in fresher, clearer water.
2. Balanced Chemistry: Refilling allows you to reset the water chemistry, making it easier to balance pH, alkalinity, and sanitizer levels.
3. Algae and Bacteria Control: Removing all water helps eradicate algae, bacteria, and other microorganisms that may be difficult to manage with chemical treatments alone.
4. Equipment Maintenance: Draining the pool provides an opportunity to inspect and service the pool equipment, such as pumps, filters, and heaters, ensuring they are in good working order.
Tumblr media
5. Leak Detection and Repair: When the pool is empty, it's easier to identify and fix leaks or structural issues, preventing future water loss and damage.
6. Aesthetic Improvements: An empty pool allows for thorough cleaning of the pool surfaces, tiles, and grout, enhancing the overall appearance of the pool.
7. Temperature Control: Refilling with fresh water can help control the water temperature, especially in warmer climates where water can become too hot for comfortable swimming.
8. Winterization: In colder climates, draining and refilling the pool before winter can prevent damage from freezing and thawing cycles.
9. Resetting Stabilizer Levels: If stabilizer levels are too high, draining and refilling is the only effective way to reduce them.
10. Preventing Scale Buildup: Regular refilling can prevent the buildup of calcium scale and other mineral deposits on pool surfaces and equipment.
It's important to note that draining and refilling a pool should be done with care and possibly under the guidance of a pool professional to avoid damaging the pool structure or equipment.

Curtis Everett, Outta my mind by Monsune
"You've been haunting me for forty days and forty nights
I been waiting for the right time
To let you know that I been lookin' for you all of my life
Feels like walkin' on a landslide
Let me take you, take you down"
Sun In Your Eyes
Warnings: none
Character: Curtis Everett
Summary: You return something important to your neighbour.
As always, I appreciate all kinds of feedback. A like and reblog means so much to me! <3
Tumblr media
“Tanya!” You shriek, “ew, that’s enough.”
You stick out your tongue over the top of your bottle. She can be so crass and her account of her last fling is hardly wholesome. She giggles and you can’t help but join her. God, you missed this.
“I’m gonna get to school and be a mile behind you, Yaya,” you sigh and take a swig of the Corona.
“Nah, you’ll catch up,” she winks as she leans back, her pink bikini top low on her cleavage, the bottoms skimpy and barely clinging to her hips. “Guys love the cute ones.”
“Cute,” you pout and look down at yourself. Excuse her, you’re wearing a two piece. The halter top and match high rise bottoms are a blue and white checker print you particularly adored.
“Ah, you know I’m the bad girl of the bunch, bestie,” she tilts her head back, basking in the sun as it glistens on her mellow skin. “I told you we should’ve done this at my place, no fun without a pool.”
“We have a pool,” you scoff and point to the kiddie pool by the fence.
She snickers and flicks you off. She lays back full on the lounger and flips down her sunglasses.
“Good thing your mom doesn’t count her Coronas or I wouldn’t have bothered.”
“Don’t be such a downer,” you chide as you take another deep gulp. The sun is hot and vibrant and the beer isn’t helping how it makes your head swim.
“You’re a terrible host,” she drains the last of her bottle and wiggles it in the air, “I’m in need of a refill.”
You stand and huff, dramatically trodding over in your flip flops, “and you’re a prize guest.”
You laugh and take the empty. Tanya’s funny. She talks a big game but she’s bent over backwards time and time again. She plays the bitch but has the biggest heart you know of.
“Maybe you should have some water?” You tease.
“Bring me some water and I’ll make sure to cool you off,” she threatens.
You snort and leave her. She fans herself with her hand as you peek back from the sliding door. Your gap year couldn’t end soon enough. Each day you regret your indecision and the months spent trying to pick a program all while pushing face cream down at the boutique.
As you pluck a fresh Corona from the lower shelf, the doorbell nearly has it slipping from your grasp. You set it on the counter and go to see which neighbour is there to tell you to turn your music down. You inch open the door and peek out, surprised at who awaits you on the other side.
“Hey, Curtis,” you greet awkwardly as you hid behind the door, “mom’s away with Dawn.”
“Ah,” the syllable rumbles in his chest. His lazy blue eyes meet yours as he brushes a hand over his buzzcut. The front of his grey tank top is soaked in sweat and streaked with oil, “no problem. Um, I lent her a wrench, I was just hoping to get it back.”
“Oh? I wouldn’t know… uh, yeah, let me see if I can find it.”
“Thanks,” he tucks his thumbs in his pockets and looks over his shoulder.
“Er, you wanna come in? It’s hot out here.”
“I’m fine,” he shrugs.
“Okay, well, you’re more than welcome,” you let the door open a little more, “I’ll just go check the mess drawer.”
“Sure.”
He doesn’t make a move to come inside. You leave the door open and skirt away to the kitchen. You pull open the junk drawer but there’s only duck tape and a pile of outdated bills. Hmmm. You flutter over to the closet behind the bathroom and sort through the box of old frames and cassettes. Shoot.
Oh, wait.
You rush back into the hall. Curtis’ shadow looms in the doorframe but you pay him no heed as you turn and head back to the sliding door. You let yourself out as Tanya rolls onto her stomach.
“Where’s my beer?” She pouts.
“Coming, just gotta…” you trail off and disappear into the shed. Got it.
You grab the wrench and hurry back across the yard. Tanya mutters, ‘typical’, but doesn’t complain further.
You bounce down the hall in triumph, forgetting yourself as you present the prize. “Here! Sorry, mom’s not really the organized type.”
“No problem,” his cheek dimples as his eyes flick up to meet yours.
You cross your arm over your stomach, suddenly embarrassed. Oh gosh, that must’ve been a rather ungraceful entrance. You hold out the wrench and he takes it slowly.
“Thanks. You get a pool or something?” He wonders.
“Just getting some sun,” you trill. Curtis isn’t usually that talkative. You only ever see him hiding behind his motorcycle, clunking away with his tools.
“Enjoying some beer?” He asks.
You give a guilty grin, “maybe.”
“Don’t worry, I won’t tell on you,” he spins the wrench in his hand. “I like that colour.”
You look down again and play with the loose strings that trails from behind your neck. You raises your shoulders sheepishly.
“Thanks, Mr. Everett.”
His cheeks colour slightly and he once more runs his hand over his closely-trimmed hair. He gives his own attire a self-conscious look. He tugs the bottom of his tank and peeks up at you again.
“Sorry, I’m a bit of a mess,” he mutters, “well, uh,” he examines the wrench in his hand and tilts it towards you emphatically, “thanks.”
“No problem.”
He turns and marches to the top step. He pauses and turns back as you ease the door towards the frame. You stop as he shifts back on his heel.
“You can call me Curtis, I don’t mind.”
He sets back on his path and you watch him trod to the curb. As he peers back and forth down the street, he rolls his shoulders and wiggles the wrench in his hand. He tosses it and catches it before he continues on. He must really need that wrench.

Lulu Merle Johnson
Tumblr media
Lulu Merle Johnson was pioneer in education and the first African American woman to earn a Ph.D. in the state of Iowa. Born on September 14, 1907 in Gravity, Iowa to Jeanette (Burton) and Richard Johnson, her mother was the daughter of freed slaves, and her father, who was formerly enslaved, owned and operated his own barbershop. The family were the only Black residents in the town and were highly respected.
Johnson’s family moved to eastern Iowa when she was entering her senior year. In 1925, she graduated from Clinton High School, where she was captain of the girls’ basketball team. After graduation, Johnson enrolled at the State University of Iowa (now the University of Iowa). Out of over 2,000 students, there were only 64 Black students–14 women and 50 men. University housing was segregated, so Johnson and the other Black students had to reside in off-campus housing.
Lulu Johnson obtained all three of her degrees from the University of Iowa. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in history in 1929, followed one year later by a master’s. Throughout the 1930s, Johnson worked on a doctorate in American history. She received support from the Rockefeller Foundation.
Johnson, a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, challenged the university’s racial structure. As an undergraduate, she insisted on sitting in front row seats assigned to white students in her political science class. As a graduate student, she protested the university’s pool policies. All University of Iowa students were required to pass a swimming test. The university was willing to let Johnson as well as the other Black students waive the test in order to keep them out of the pool, so they would not have to drain and refill it for the white students. Johnson and the other students informed their instructor that they would attend class at 5:00 am and take the swimming test, making the pool unusable for the remainder of the school day. Her action ended the university’s racially-discriminatory pool policy.
In 1941, Lula Merle Johnson became the first African American woman to earn a Ph.D. at the University of Iowa. Her thesis was “The Problem of Slavery in the Old Northwest, 1787-1858.” She held academic appointments at a number of HBCU’s, including Talladega University in Alabama; Tougaloo College in Mississippi; Florida A&M; and West Virginia State College.  In 1952, she accepted a position at Cheyney State College in Pennsylvania, where she was a history professor and dean of women. Dr. Johnson retired from Cheyney State as the director of the Department of Social and Behavioral Science.  She moved to Millsboro, Delaware and spent the remainder of her life traveling with her partner, Eunice Johnson. She died on October 18, 1995, at the age of 88.
In 2018, the Graduate College at the University of Iowa established the Lulu Merle Johnson Fellowship, which provides funding and support for Ph.D. students from underrepresented racial and ethnic minority groups. On June 24, 2021, the Johnson County (Iowa) Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to change the county’s name to Lulu Merle Johnson County. The county was originally named for Vice President Richard M. Johnson (1837-1841), a slaveholder who never resided in Iowa and claimed credit for killing Shawnee Chief Tecumseh during the War of 1812. Lulu Merle Johnson County is only the second in the nation named after an African American. (The other is Martin Luther King County in Washington.) The University of Iowa, where Lulu Johnson received her education, is the county seat of Johnson County.

Seven Days (5)
Tumblr media
AO3
5. Mirage
To thoroughly clean the house that had been idle for years, Annette spent all her spare time outside of school working on it. But her progress was minimal; after several days, she had only managed to clean part of the kitchen. Desperately, she asked Seth for help, and to her surprise, he agreed without hesitation.
With Seth's help, things went much faster. He was efficient and much stronger than Annette. Cleaning such a large house required more physical effort than she had anticipated. Carrying buckets of water up and down the stairs was exhausting for her. Fortunately, Seth took care of the upstairs, allowing Annette to focus on the ground floor. In just one weekend, they managed to clean the floors and furniture, which marked a significant victory. To thank him, Annette handled all the meals during the cleanup and of course, drove Seth to and from the city.
The most challenging part to clean was the outdoor area. They initially tried to remove the ivy growing wild against the exterior walls, but the roots had become woody and difficult to remove without tools. Forcibly removing it risked damaging the walls. Annette decided to postpone this task and seek help from professionals later. So, they turned their attention to the long and narrow swimming pool. The water had long been drained, and the bottom was covered with dried, rotting leaves. Among them, she spotted a small, deflated inflatable flamingo, a favorite from her childhood. Looking closer, she saw remnants of other toys that once floated in the pool, now partially buried in the debris.
This was an enormous task, unsurprisingly. Seth spent nearly all his spare time that week to helping her clean the pool. Clearing the debris from the bottom was labor-intensive, and scrubbing the tiles to remove algae and moss, unclogging the circulation vents that were blocked for years, replacing the batteries for the pool lights, and other tasks were no small feat. Annette couldn’t understand why Seth was willing to spend so much of his free time helping her with such a massive cleanup. She was extremely grateful and could hardly imagine facing this house that needed so much cleaning alone; she knew she couldn’t have done it without him. Seth's presence provided not just physical help but also mental comfort, easing her often tense and low spirits lately. It seemed that spending time with a friend now and then could indeed be relaxing.
They connected a hose and chatted about school trivialities while rinsing the pool walls. Someone started it, and soon they were playfully splashing water at each other, laughing and escalating their prank, and whoever had the hose had the upper hand. By the time they tired themselves out with their playful splashing, the pool was almost clean. Thanks to Los Angeles' consistently warm weather, being soaked felt perfectly comfortable.
After an entire afternoon of waiting, the pool was finally refilled, the water reflecting the warm light from the setting sun. The major cleanup was finally over. The childhood home was nearly restored to its original state, with everything looking so familiar, as if time had stood still. Watching the sparkling water surface, Annette felt a strong sense of accomplishment and satisfaction, mixed with a trace of unease that suddenly invaded from somewhere. Standing by the pool, she realized this was the very spot with the most direct view of her bedroom window. She sat on a nearby chair, attempting to quell her sudden surge of negative emotions.
"Are you feeling okay? You seem pretty tired," Seth asked, returning from the bathroom and seeing Annette staring blankly at the water.
"You exerted yourself more than I did," she replied.
"It's not a competition, no big deal," Seth said with a smile, his gaze shifting to the book on the small table beside them. It was the romance novel Annette had taken from her old room’s bookshelf. She spent the afternoon reading it while waiting for the pool to fill, which piqued Seth's curiosity.
They talked casually as night fell. The pool lights embedded in the walls glowed green once again. They enjoyed the evening breeze, discussing the novel and then moving on to all novels, literature, music, the house’s history, and their respective families and experiences. However, she never mentioned the person who had deeply affected her. It had been a long time since she brought him up to anyone.
Seth was walking along the pool’s edge, counting the stone tiles. In the dim light, the pool lights outlined him with a green glow. Suddenly, he slipped and almost fell into the pool. Annette's chest pounded violently, panic and fear hitting her simultaneously. She instinctively rushed forward to grab Seth, resulting in both of them tumbling into the pool.
The scenery in her eyes turned green, surging and expanding with vitality. As the world inverted, she felt like she was holding someone else. She desperately pulled him to the edge, her strength erupted at this moment. She almost threw Seth by his collar out of the water, which was incredible even to herself.
Soaked to the bone, they sat by the pool. Seth was fine; in fact he could swim, it was Annette's action that surprised him. Annette still seemed very shaken, trembling as if something dangerous in the water had threatened their lives.
The timing, place, and lighting reminded her of the night fifteen years ago, the scene she had witnessed through the window. In that time, she couldn't do anything but watch, but this time, she was close enough to save someone.
Seth was touched and surprised by Annette’s reaction. In all their time together, he had never seen her so unguarded. He thought maybe she really cared for him. He couldn’t help but quietly observe her face, patiently waiting for her to catch her breath, and then he subtly moved closer. Her wet hair clung to her face, and he gently tucked it behind her ear. Annette noticed his movement and looked at him, his face now very close. Seeing a friend's face, she felt calmer, as if she had returned to real life.
On the humid summer night, as water evaporated from their skin, their close distance allowed them to see their reflections in each other’s irises. The atmosphere was just right, at least for Seth.
Annette saw Seth’s body lean slightly towards her, his eyes closed, waiting for her to reciprocate. In that moment, her mind was flooded with emotions and images, partly from their pleasant time together, but mostly about someone else. That part quickly overwhelmed her thoughts until she saw no one else but that person. She pushed Seth away, turned her head, silently rejecting him.
She could see the disappointment in Seth’s eyes when he opened them again with her peripheral vision. Seth didn’t understand why she was so concerned about him earlier but now so distant, like a different person. He quickly suppressed his confusion and disappointment, sighing quietly.
“You’re like a closed book, Annette.”
The drive back to the city was silent. Annette appreciated Seth's quietness because she didn't know what to say. She knew she owed him an explanation, that she should at least express her thoughts, but she couldn't right now. The accidental fall had shaken her more than expected, leaving a lingering ache in her chest. She was too exhausted.
By the time she returned to her apartment, it was late. Her body sore from the day's exertion. After a quick shower, she collapsed onto her bed, embraced by the dreams of the night in her weariness.
She found herself back in her old bedroom, lying on her childhood bed, staring at the string of globe lights on the opposite wall. The round bulbs resembled the dreamy fruits depicted in storybooks, glowing softly.
What should have been a warm and comforting sight instead filled her with intense unease. It felt like the room's current scene was deeply tied to her inner fears, though she couldn't pinpoint why. Until the sound of an argument outside made her heart skip a beat.
She was back to the night he was killed.
Luckily, the bed’s guardrails had already been removed. Desperate to reach the window, her short stature made her movements clumsy. She climbed up onto the armchair by the bed, then onto the windowsill, like scaling two mountains. Finally, her hands and forehead pressed against the glass, giving her a clear view of the situation outside. She saw their argument quickly turn into a one-sided physical confrontation, with Henry forcefully shoving the slender figure beyond what he could bear. Frantically, she pounded on the window and screamed for Henry to stop, but her small voice went unheard amidst the chaos, with the window and the distance muffling her cries.
She saw her father mercilessly push the person she cared about most into the water. He struggled beneath the surface, bubbles rising and popping, the green pool devouring him like a monstrous beast. Nightmare recurred. Her ears rang with the sound of her heart pounding as if it would explode. She couldn’t watch him die helplessly again; she had to do something. But soon, his body stopped struggling, and Henry dragged him poolside, carrying him into the dark woods. The darkness seemed to come alive, swallowing them, then the scene froze there.
Annette stared blankly out the window, the green water that had swallowed him now calm, as if nothing had happened. In the next moment, she was back on her bed, staring at the string of lights, the argument outside repeating.
She didn’t know what was happening, where she was, or why these things were occurring, people often lose their ability to think clearly in dreams. But she knew this was her chance to save him, so she didn’t hesitate. She got up and ran out of the room. She almost tumbled down the stairs, slipping on the floor, a force seeming to pull her back as she tried to move forward. But she ignored it, heading straight for the door.
Henry no longer looked like Henry; he was a tall, humanoid figure made of countless black particles, his form shifting between clear and blurry, like fluctuating between human and monster. She shouted, and Henry paused, looking down at her small figure. Annette was ready to confront him, even if it meant fighting with him. But then the black mist suddenly dissipated into the air.
She rushed to the pool and grabbed the person who had already lost consciousness. In the water, their skin was too slick for her to hold on. She managed to grasp his sleeve and tried to pull him up, but with her barely five-year-old body, she was no match for the weight of the man and his soaked clothes. But she refused to give up, holding onto his sleeve until the downward pull dragged her down into the water as well.
She heard a loud splash, water roaring against her ears chaotically, the spotlight tinting the underwater world a bright green. The scene above gradually separated, the bushes, treetops, stars, and moon receded, leaving only the pool’s shape, as if the night was framed in a rectangle. She kept sinking, feeling as though the pool were as deep as the sea. But when she looked down, seeing him held tightly in her arms, she felt that everything would be alright.
Then she woke up in her bed again, seeing the colorful lights and hearing the argument outside.
This time, she realized she was trapped in a loop, reliving his death over and over. Or maybe this was her chance to prevent it. But she failed again and again. Throughout the night, she tried every method to save him. Her body changed each time the loop reset, eventually growing into her adult form, but it didn’t make things any easier. Whenever she got close to saving him, the particle-formed Henry would appear, disrupting her plans and chasing her through every corner of the house. Repeatedly, like a never-ending horror movie.
Initially, Henry didn’t attack her. If she stopped running and faced him, he would remain still and eventually dissipate. But as her body changed, Henry grew more aggressive, forcing her to hide and costing her many chances to save him.
She kept waking up, running down the stairs countless times, the staircase loomed like it was fifteen years long, a barrier that stood between her persistence and his life. She was exhausted, both physically and mentally, felt like an overworked machine about to break from metal fatigue, but she couldn’t stop.
She decided to take a gamble, betting that he was still alive when Henry buried him in the ground. She quietly followed Henry into the dark woods. Despite her caution, the crunching leaves and snapping branches underfoot made her break out in a cold sweat. Henry was busy filling the grave. Her heart pounded as she watched his dark figure, hoping he would finish quickly and leave. Once he was buried, every moment counted.
Finally, Henry left the woods. She checked his direction, then ran to the burial site. Without any tools, she started digging with her bare hands. She felt his life is like a handful of sand slipping away through her fingers. She wouldn't let this be his grave; she couldn't let it happen again. She dug with all her strength, her nails breaking, mixing blood with dirt, but she paid no heed to the pain, either the soreness of the muscles or the sharp pain at the nail. All she could felt was her determination to save him from death this time.
As dawn broke, she finally saw his face, as the dark night gradually revealed a glimmer of light.
Her eyes pricked with sudden tears, but she held them back. She carefully brushed the dirt off his face, her bleeding nails staining his skin. She didn't care about her bloody fingers; what mattered was that she had found him. She exerted more strength to dig out his whole body, laying him on the ground, frantically checking for his breath and heartbeat, praying for a miracle. But then her heart sank. His chest was as calm as a pool of stagnant water, with no signs of life.
The world fell silent, every sound swallowed by the night, and she was the only one still breathing in this world at this moment. She felt alone, like in a vacuum, lost in the center of the universe, with the universe collapsing towards her, about to crush her into a point.
But she rallied. It wasn't time to give up. She checked his airway, tilted his head back, and started CPR. She felt grateful for having paid attention in her first aid class; it was her lifeline now. Though she felt barely any strength left in her body, she kept going, mechanically pressing on his chest, feeling like she would die with him if she stopped.
"Please… please, don't leave me." she heard her own voice, nearly desperate, like an old, weathered building that would collapse with just a slight touch.
She didn’t know how long she kept going, but eventually, she felt a difference. She pressed her ear to his chest, straining to catch the faintest sound. At first, the sound was as faint as water drops echoing in a cave, one by one. Then the rhythm slowly steadied. Weak but there, his heart started beating on its own. Overjoyed, she helped him breathe until he coughed up water, and his chest began to rise and fall.
Relief filled her as her trembling breaths blended with the crisp morning air. She hugged him tightly, his body’s warmth driving away all her fears and exhaustion, like a light illuminating the darkness.
She couldn’t believe she had the chance to rewrite history, to have him back. It was the best gift she could ever receive, and she would never let go.
There was nothing to worry about anymore. She was grown up, no longer the child who could only protest by smashing the exquisite lamp her father had bought. Now, she had the strength to protect whom she loved. If anyone tried to hurt him again, she would fight back without hesitation, even at the heaviest cost; she didn't care. She had no mother, no father, nothing else to lose. Life meant nothing without him. She feared living without him more than death.
She held his hand, once so much larger than hers, able to span eleven keys on a piano, something she had envied as a child. Now it seemed smaller than hers, resting in her palm. She gently unfolded his fingers, placing his hand on her cheek, warming his fingertips. Even though he was unconscious, it didn’t matter. He would wake up eventually.
The night felt endless, as if time had paused. But dawn was breaking, the sun slowly rose over the trees like a giant, blazing orb that climbed to the highest branches, distorting the air with its heat, soon setting the sky ablaze.

#14: Carrot
It had been some time since Hinan and Rhuk had opened the Lucky Fin; a shop dedicated to saving Koi that were not “up to standard” for breeders who sold to the rich. Sometimes when they brought in new fish, they were given a charge that was strange enough that they wanted to take it home for themselves, but none of them had ever given them problems… Until Carrot.
It was typical to rotate the Koi every now and again from the tanks near the rear of the shop to the open ponds they had at the front. It kept them from being overlooked; those at the front tended to go faster than those in the tanks. The first time they had rotated the fish, they had decided to separate the two pools on either side of the entry walkway into male and female pools. And at first, everything went smoothly; the fish were thriving, adoptions were happening frequently, and there hadn’t been any incidents.
They had just adopted out two of their older females two days ago, and the only female left in the pond was Pizza, a gorgeous orange-spotted lady with a friendly personality. Today was the day when Hinan would introduce two younger females into the pond after a nice, thorough cleaning. The only problem was that when Hinan walked into the shop, both ponds had two fish in them.
“How’d Carrot get in there!?” Rhuk asked, leaning over the pond to squint at the solid orange koi in question who was swimming along happily in the female pond.
“I have no idea. Can koi jump that far? There’s four full fulms between these ponds,” Hinan replied, and bent to look, too. “But, we’ve got to clean this pond anyway, so we can at least transfer him.”
So they did, switching Carrot out with Alfredo in the tanks and then housing Pizza in a bucket while they drained the female pond to prepare it for cleaning. They were halfway through the cleaning process when Rhuk made a noise and gestured Hinan over from the opposite side of the pond. “Look at that.”
Hinan looked down toward where the Miqo’te was pointing. There, in little clumps nestled against the outer wall of the pond, were koi eggs. Hinan scratched at his neck scales and sighed. “Well, we know why Carrot was in here. Shit. We’ve got to find them all and clean them out.”
“Don’t koi lay like, a million eggs, though? There’s no way we’re going to get them all out!”
“I don’t think it’s a million, but it’s a damn lot. We’re gonna have to try to get them all. Just going to have to take everything out and clean it really well.”
Rhuk nodded, and they began removing everything they could from the pond, taking extra care to wash it all into a different bucket. When they were finished with the pond’s decorative items alone, there was a solid coating of eggs in the bottom of said bucket. They got rid of those, and then cleaned out the pond proper. It was a good thing that, while the ponds were made of stone, there was a liner in each of them that prevented any gunk from getting in the cracks and crannies, and they removed and cleaned that as well.
When they’d reassembled and refilled the pond, they put Pizza back into it and then introduced the two other females, Salsa and Spaghetti. For the next few days, Rhuk and Hinan monitored the female pond for any signs that they might need to be separated, but they all seemed to be getting along swimmingly.
On the fifth day, Hinan and Rhuk walked into the shop and went about their morning business. When Hinan was about to feed the females in the pond, he caught a flash of movement in the corner of his eye and he froze. His heart hammering against his ribcage, he crouched down and squinted into the water.
There, zipping along the back wall of the pond. A fry. He looked around for more, eyes straining, and found another, and another… and another.
“Fuck,” he breathed, and then called over to Rhuk, who was feeding the koi in the tanks. “Uh, we have a problem over here.”
“What’s up?” Rhuk asked, turning with his hand still in the food container to look at Hinan.
“There’s babies in here.”
“Babies? I thought we got them all! We even trashed and replaced the liner!”
“Maybe there were some stuck to the decorations that we missed?” Hinan suggested, but he sighed. “I’m gonna move these girls to the tanks while we try to get all these babies out.”
“What’re we gonna do with them?” Rhuk asked, putting the container down and coming to stand beside him.
Hinan shook his head. “I don’t know. We’ll have to figure out how many there are and go from there.”That was how Hinan and Rhuk ended up with fourteen Baby Carrots and two new tanks in the back of the shop. That was also how the tank that Carrot was never allowed out of again came to be known as Horny Jail.

National Pool Opening Day
National Pool Opening Day is a popular holiday that Americans celebrate on the last Saturday in April. This year, it takes place on April 29. Because swimming is part of making summers memorable, it’s important that pool owners keep them clean, and ensure that they’re safe for pool parties with family, neighbors, and friends. Apart from providing a place to socialize, swimming pools also encourage physical activity. By keeping your pool’s acidity and alkalinity levels in check, you ensure that it’s ready for you to enjoy a swim throughout the summer.
History of National Pool Opening Day
National Pool Opening Day reminds pool owners and swimmers all across the U.S. to make their pools summer-ready and make them safe to enjoy during warmer months. Swimming pools help people relax, practice their swimming and provide the opportunity to interact with family and friends. National Pool Opening Day was founded by Leslie’s Swimming Pool to highlight the importance of pool safety and hygiene.
Roman, Assyrian, and Greek warriors were taught to swim as part of their martial training. In 1828, indoor swimming pools became popular in England as St George’s Baths was opened for locals. Swimming was included in the Olympics as a sport in 1896 but only males could participate and it was only in 1912 that women were also allowed to contest. Some common swimming styles, at the time, were sidestroke, breaststroke, backstroke, and crawl, and for each competition, the swimming distance was different.
The first person to swim across the 20-mile width of the English Channel was merchant navy captain, Matthew Webb in 1875. He crossed it in 21 hours and 45 minutes having to swim against tidal currents. The first woman to succeed in this feat was Gertrude Caroline Ederle, a competitive swimmer from the U.S. in 1926 for whom it took only 14 hours and 31 minutes.
Today, swimming has become so popular that there are swimming pools in schools, colleges, and universities where students are trained.

Biden Administration Proposes Trans Kids Cry Into the Colorado River to Help Raise Water Levels as The River Continues to Shrink
IDC News: 11 April 2023 (Evening Edition)
Tumblr media
The Colorado River was voted "Most Likely Reason Climate Change Will Kill Us" for the 12th year in a row, Last Saturday at the MTV Kid's Choice Awards.
OHIO — After months of furious debate between the Western states that depend on the shrinking Colorado River for fresh water, the Biden administration on Tuesday announced a sweeping new plan that would set aside decades of legal precedent to save the River by turning to an unlikely ally: transgender youth in America
Such a brazen effort to reach across the gender neutral bathroom style has never been seen in US history. If successful, it would mark one of the first times the country has acknowledged the existence of young transgender Americans. A sign of just how stark things have become.
The Plan is Simple.
Tumblr media
Decades of overuse on top of a 23-year drought means there is no painless way out.
The Biden administration spoke to reporters on Tuesday together with representatives from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). They outlined a 6-step agenda which Vice-President, Kamala Harris, said "all but guarantees that by this time next year, you won't be able to tell the difference Cardi B and the Colorado River".
The Agenda lays out a list of steps that will be taken, effective immediately, to save the rapidly dwindling amounts of water in the River.
The Agenda
Encourage American parents to be harsher on their transgender children
Set-up a 'safehouse' in Utah next to the Colorado River
Rescue transgender teens from abusive homes by driving them to the Utah safehouse
Bring all the transgender teens outside, line them all up one by one single file above the Colorado River
Show every teenager a picture of themselves.
When the dysphoria causes them to cry, the teens will already be in an ideal position to refill the Colorado River as their tears will drain straight into the water basin
Tumblr media
Me and My tampon on the last day of my period
"Wow um, these teenagers are really depressed"
Climate researchers were skeptical at first about the plan's long-term viability. Vivian Lee, a postgraduate student studying moisture at the California Institute of Technology (CALTECH) noted that it was unlikely the plan would produce any meaningful amount of water, far from enough to replenish the drying River.
However, Lee's jaw dropped when she saw the data. The results were clear. And shocking.
Tumblr media
(Above) The Colorado River is fucked.
"Holy shit there's no way. The Average transgender teen in America cries approximately 60 gallons of water in a week?" Lee read from a recent study.
That is, of course, only an average. In some states like Florida, numbers can go as high as 90. At the end of the day, what's clear is clear.
Tumblr media
What's clear is clear.
On average, transgender teenagers in America lose enough water every week from crying to fill the equivalent of an Olympic-sized swimming pool. Done right, the Biden team's plan could generate up to 100,000 additional litres into the Colorado River each year.
"We need to learn to harvest their energy. The young ones are ripe and full. It is nearly time for us to sow the seeds of our harvest and consume the bounty we have planted," said possible serial killer, Ted Cruz.
Some have expressed concern that the plan is inhumane and exploits the misery of transgender youth to support America's continual deathward spiral into climate self-destruction. However, representatives of the plan in D.C. pushed back, noting that all volunteers would be compensated with a Blåhaj and work experience which they could put on a resume.
At press time, US President Joe Biden was seen trying to Google whether the transgender day of visibility had any relation to wearing camo.

when my family first moved to Texas they splurged on a house with a backyard pool (admittedly every house in the neighborhood was bougie as fuck -- my parents were interested in the school district more than anything else, and being a good school, housing in the area was expensive). the first year we lived there we all had a good time in the backyard pool, even my mom who couldn't swim enjoyed hanging out in the shallow end.
we bought the house around 2006-07, the housing crash happened in 08. mom lost her job. dad had to work longer hours and the company dumped shitty work on him. as my parents and myself got busier, we stopped using the pool. i went to middle school and my flippant "I don't need to study and can still pass the tests" attitude, which worked in elementary school, stopped working, and I wouldn't be diagnosed with ADHD until 15 years later. dad was working twelve hour days, six days a week. mom still couldn't swim.
to keep costs down dad fired the mowers and the poolboy service (we didn't contract them, they served the previous residents and when we moved in they were like "should we keep coming" and my dad said "sure why not"). taking care of the pool consisted of skimming the leaves and big debris off the top, running the pool vac for dust, checking the pump, taking leaves out of the basket filter, refilling the water, refilling the chlorine, refilling the other pool chemicals that kept the chlorine stable, and occasionally powerwashing the main filter.
some fun facts about pool chemistry: you can either use saltwater or chlorinated water to keep algae out of the water. keeping algae out is important cause dead algae clog up the pumps and shit (and are also toxic, depending on the algae), and also you don't want a live ecosystem in your pool cause bacteria and stuff. i'm not familiar with saltwater pool chemistry; we did chlorine. now raw chlorine under the hot sun (well UV light specifically) breaks down pretty fast, so you want to bind it to something so it doesn't break down as fast, but binding the chlorine also makes it unavailable for breaking down bacteria, so it's a balancing act between keeping chlorine available and keeping chlorine durable. you have to manage the pH, partially for chlorine stability and partially just because swimming around in something acidic is bad for the health. theres actually some pretty fun chemistry that goes into this, but basically if shit looks wrong (or just every season) you take out your pH strips and sample tubes and check chlorine levels, pH, etc.
this was, as you'd imagine, a non-trivial amount of work, and my dad spent his precious time off work tending to this pool no one used: an hour or sometimes two, sliding the pool vac around the plaster floor, skimming the leaves, as the shadows grew longer and the sun slid lower. i would watch him out the window from the living room, where my computer was, glancing over my shoulder now and then to make sure my mom wasn't watching me procrastinate. sunset was behind the fence, so i couldn't see the sun dip below the horizon. but i could see it getting darker.
the previous residents kept a garden in the backyard, full of flowers i couldn't name but still vaguely remember: these big two-three foot tall things that bloomed red and orange, and some flowering vines crawling up arch-shaped trellises. none of us had a green thumb; the tall flowers died on their own. the vines persisted, though without bloom, until one day my dad decided they were a nuisance and cut them all down. so the flowerbeds were all empty dirt and the trellises laid bare, slowly rusting.
worst part is that you can't even get rid of it. well, we couldn't get rid of ours, specifically. you'd think "why not just drain the pool", but you can't, is the thing. it's embedded in the ground, it's not one of those aboveground ones. it had a curved bottom and plaster casing and, apparently, was only designed to work under water pressure. draining the pool meant the pressure would be too low, and the plaster would crack. (you'd think "okay why not just put a tarp over the filled pool" and, uh, i don't know honestly? my first guess: it's not a rectangular pool, it's got this weird eggplant shape with a circular jacuzzi raised and to the side, and laying tarp over that would be difficult. second: texas gets deep freezes sometimes and still water would freeze and crack the plaster. suffice it to say, at any rate, that we neither drained nor tarped over the pool, and thus had to take care of it.) of course, removing the pool entirely would be nontrivially expensive, cause you'd have to dig the whole damn thing up, disconnect the water lines, the power too (for the pumps, the lights, etc).
i moved out a few years ago. my dad used to say that when i moved out, he'd sell the house and move to a smaller apartment. but he kept the house, and the pool, and is trying to run the whole property by himself, under the stubborn belief that if he prays hard enough i'll come back to him, and he wants to keep the house ready for my return. i don't plan on doing so.
so, unused backyard pools as a symbol of upper-middle-class wastefulness, conformity, and posturing ... i can believe that.

i was going to post just a screenshot of the title as a joke but i kept reading and now i’m completely floored by this theory

In this guide, we’ll explore everything you need to know about pool resurfacing in Sydney.

Plaster (Marble Sheen): A traditional option offering an elegant finish.
Pebblecrete: Known for its textured, natural aesthetic.
Tiles: Luxurious and highly customizable but often more expensive.
Signs Your Pool Needs Resurfacing
Cracks and Chips: Visible damage to the pool’s surface.

The Pool Resurfacing Process

Surface Removal: Sandblasting or chipping away the old surface layer.
Repairs: Fix cracks or other damage to the structure.
Application: Apply the chosen resurfacing material and allow it to cure.
Filling and Balancing: Refill the pool and adjust the chemical levels to ensure safety.
Cost of Pool Resurfacing in Sydney
The cost varies depending on:
Pool size: Larger pools require more materials and labor.
Material choice: For instance, tiles can be more expensive than pebblecrete or fibreglass.
Extent of damage: Additional repairs will increase the cost. On average, pool resurfacing in Sydney ranges between $5,000 and $15,000.
Choosing the Right Pool Resurfacing Contractor
When selecting a contractor in Sydney:
Check credentials: Ensure they are licensed and insured.

Winter-Proofing Your Stahlwandpool: Tips for Pool Maintenance
Tumblr media
Winterizing your Stahlwandpool is essential to protect it from harsh winter conditions, ensuring it remains in excellent condition for the next swimming season. Proper winter-proofing not only preserves the pool’s structure but also helps minimize repair costs. In this guide, we'll explore key maintenance tips to ensure your Stahlwandpool is ready for the cold months.
1. Thorough Cleaning Before Winter
Before you start winterizing, clean your pool thoroughly. This includes:
Vacuuming the bottom to remove debris.
Skimming off leaves, twigs, and other floating objects.
Brushing the walls and floor to prevent algae growth. Keeping the pool spotless before closing it ensures that it stays in good condition during the months when it's not in use.
2. Balancing the Water Chemistry
Maintaining balanced pool water is crucial to prevent scale build-up, corrosion, or algae growth. Test and adjust the following levels:
pH levels: Between 7.2 and 7.6.
Alkalinity: Between 80 and 120 ppm.
Calcium hardness: Between 180 and 220 ppm. After balancing the water, add a winter chemical kit, which includes chlorine and algaecide, to keep the water clear and algae-free.
3. Lowering the Water Level
For Stahlwandpools, the water level should be lowered to just below the skimmer or return jets to prevent freezing damage to the plumbing system. However, avoid draining the pool entirely, as this could cause structural problems due to the pressure difference between the water inside and the surrounding ground. Check my blog stahlwandpools
4. Protecting the Pool Equipment
Pool equipment like pumps, filters, and heaters need special care:
Drain water from all the pool equipment to avoid freezing and cracking.
Remove and store hoses, ladders, and other removable accessories indoors.
Cover the pump and filter systems, or move them inside if possible, to protect them from freezing.
5. Covering the Pool
A high-quality winter pool cover is your first line of defense against debris and snow accumulation:
Secure the cover tightly to avoid wind damage or loose ends.
Ensure no gaps where debris or animals could enter the pool. For added protection, you may use a winter air pillow underneath the cover to distribute the weight of snow and ice.
6. Preventing Freezing Damage
For pools in regions that experience freezing temperatures, it's essential to ensure water doesn't freeze in the plumbing system. You can:
Blow out the lines using an air compressor to remove water.
Add antifreeze to the lines to prevent any remaining water from freezing and expanding, which can cause cracks and leaks.
7. Regular Checkups During Winter
Even after closing the pool, it’s a good idea to check on it periodically throughout the winter:
Remove excess water from the pool cover to prevent sagging or damage.
Brush off heavy snow accumulation to avoid putting too much pressure on the cover.
Inspect for leaks around the pool to ensure no damage occurs due to freezing.
8. Opening the Pool in Spring
Once winter ends, start preparing for the new swimming season:
Remove the cover carefully, ensuring no debris falls into the water.
Inspect the water level and refill if necessary.
Check the pool’s condition for any cracks, wear, or winter damage. By following these steps and maintaining a thorough winterization routine, your Stahlwandpool will be well-prepared for the next summer season, avoiding unnecessary repairs and ensuring a smooth reopening.
Conclusion: Properly winterizing your Stahlwandpool is key to ensuring its longevity and functionality. By thoroughly cleaning, balancing the water, lowering levels, protecting equipment, and covering the pool, you'll safeguard your investment against winter's harsh elements. Make winter maintenance a priority to ensure your Stahlwandpool is in top shape when the warm weather returns.

Signs It’s Time to Drain Your Pool: Don’t Ignore These Red Flags
Most pools need to be drained every 3-5 years to maintain water quality. Neglecting this can lead to various problems that affect your pool’s lifespan and your enjoyment. Draining your pool at the right time is essential for effective pool cleaning services henderson. Below are some key signs that indicate it’s time to drain your pool.
1. Persistent Algae Growth
If you notice that algae keeps returning despite regular cleaning and chemical treatments, it's a sign that the pool water needs to be replaced. Algae can become resistant to chemicals over time, making it harder to eliminate. Draining and refilling the pool can give you a fresh start, allowing you to control algae growth more effectively. Regular swimming pool weekly service helps keep algae at bay, but sometimes a complete water change is necessary.
2. Difficulty Maintaining Chemical Balance
When your pool's water chemistry becomes difficult to maintain, it's a strong indication that draining may be necessary. Over time, the water in your pool can accumulate minerals and chemicals that make it challenging to keep a balanced pH, chlorine, and alkalinity level. This can lead to cloudy water, skin irritation, and even damage to pool equipment. If you're constantly adding chemicals without success, it's time to consider a swimming pool draining service.
3. High Total Dissolved Solids (TDS)
Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) refers to the total concentration of dissolved substances in the pool water, including minerals, chemicals, and debris. When TDS levels get too high, it can make the water hard, affecting the effectiveness of chemicals and the comfort of swimmers. High TDS levels often cause the water to taste salty or feel gritty. If you suspect high TDS levels, draining and refilling your pool is the best solution.
4. Water Stains on Pool Walls
Stains on the pool walls, especially those that don’t go away with scrubbing, are a clear sign that the water may need to be replaced. These stains are usually caused by metals, minerals, or algae buildup over time. Draining the pool and cleaning the surfaces can help remove these unsightly marks and prevent further staining. Regular swimming pool care near you can help prevent stains, but when they persist, draining is often necessary.
5. Unpleasant Odor
If your pool water has an unpleasant smell, it might be caused by a buildup of organic materials such as sweat, oils, and debris from the environment. These materials can overwhelm the pool’s filtration system and lead to a foul odor. When this happens, it's often a sign that the water is no longer clean and fresh. A swimming pool draining service can help eliminate the odor by giving you fresh, clean water.
6. The Pool Hasn’t Been Drained in Years
Even if your pool looks clear and seems fine, if it hasn’t been drained in more than three years, it’s time to do so. Water quality deteriorates over time, no matter how well you maintain it. Regular swimming pool weekly service can keep your pool in good shape, but nothing replaces the benefits of a complete water change after a few years.
Don’t Wait—Schedule Your Pool Draining Today!
Ignoring the signs that your pool needs to be drained can lead to costly repairs and health risks. Regular maintenance, including timely draining, is crucial for keeping your pool safe and enjoyable. If you've noticed any of these signs, it's time to schedule a pool drain services with a professional.
Taking action now will help keep your pool in excellent condition, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone.

National Pool Opening Day
National Pool Opening Day is a popular holiday that Americans celebrate on the last Saturday in April. This year, it takes place on April 27.
