Randeep Hooda opens up about receiving no support from Bollywood for his film Swatantrya Veer Sawarkar

Randeep Hooda had a candid conversation with a leading news agency during which he opened up about not getting any support from Bollywood for his upcoming film Swatantrya Veer Sawarkar. He also talked about the film being called propaganda and explained how he performed in-depth research and worked hard to play the role of the historic figure.

"Making the film was very difficult, like the person himself," Randeep said as he reflected on today's socio-political landscape. "Things have become black and white nowadays; there is no grey area. Left and right wing belong to the same bird."

He explained that if the film was just propaganda, bringing it to life would not have been such a struggle for him. He wanted to bring the untold story of the historical figure to life and make people see how this one person through different phases of life including romantic, pragmatic, and political. "Our history has neglected his story," he said, explaining his commitment to making a movie on Sawarkar’s life despite all the hate and criticism.

"I keep breaking moulds; I want to make an action movie. Modestly speaking, I have given a new perspective on making biopics to the industry and hopefully will do the same with my action film.”

Coming to the lack of support he got from Bollywood, Randeep said, "Bollywood gave zero support for Savarkar. I make films for the audience, not them."

Randeep also talked about the ongoing debate about nepotism in Bollywood. "My father is a doctor, and so is my sister. I don't think getting inspired by parents is nepotism. If star kids want to be a part of the industry, there is nothing wrong with it,"  he stated.
