New large mural at Lake and Lyndale. In memory of "Swamp Foot", an artist who was shot and killed in 2019 during a carjacking by 2 teenagers in NE. His family had protested a plea agreement that offered probation and asked for the governor to take the case away from the DA.

Compiling In

The skull's eye sockets flared with an eerie purple light as parchment fit into its chattering jaws. Rem's writing was terrible anyway, barely legible manuscript and cursive that made chicken scratch look like beautiful calligraphy. Why write when you can speak your words?

Rem took a breath, folding her arms as she attempted to gather her thoughts. She read from her own field notes, "Aldmarsh Glossary part one." The Scribe's Skull chattered with each word. With each bite, it stamped in dark green lettering like a macabre typewriter.

Aldmarsh Glossary pt. 1

Preface: This is not a comprehensive list of all things found in this land. This is what I, Remington Thornbolt, have seen in action and given terms to, with some being slang. Hope this helps translate what the foxgloves talk about when we chat with the other divisions.

All At Once 

The act of luring a herd of mindless into a trap or killing a herd of mindless in one fell swoop without risk to one’s well being.

BB (Acronym)

Destroy the (B)rain or (B)reak the spine. A mnemonic for remembering how to kill mindless.

Bog Giant 

Hulking creatures constructed of moss and other flora. Mostly docile unless threatened.

Bog Route  

The path a Bog Giant walks through the Aldmarsh, avoiding traps and other hostile flora. Bog Routes are relatively safe compared to blindly going through the swamp.

Bog Running 

The act of following a bog giant along its bog route to avoid danger.

Boom Shroom

A species of bioluminescent fungus which balloons up and explodes when disturbed. Can be used as an improvised or as an explosive trap in a pinch.

Braining 

The act of destroying a mindless’s brain, killing them.

Buzzer  

A colloquial term for a species of giant mosquitoes with paralytic saliva who call the Aldmarsh home. If left to their devices, a buzzer will exsanguinate a person within five minutes, leaving only a parched corpse.

Corral 

The act of tossing fresh meat as a way of luring a herd of mindless or other hostile fauna or flora to a certain location.

Crawler 

A mindless whose lower half is rendered useless and causing them to instead crawl toward prey.

Fang Pit 

A trap consisting of a pit filled with venomous snakes and insects.

Felo'loth Village  

A village deep into the marsh, secluded from outside aid for decades if not centuries. Its people are friendly. They are protected by the runic barrier whose stone is housed in the village’s center and maintained by the village’s eldest mage.

From the Back  

The act of killing a herd of mindless by silently dispatching the tail of the group and working one’s way to the front.

Garrosh 

A plant whose tendrils are shaped into axe-like blades capable of chopping through a humanoid. Named after Garrosh Hellscream, who often carried legendary axe Gorehowl into battle.

Gerthas Cai  

Literally “Rune Barrier” in Thalassian, the shield which protects Felo’loth Village from outside harm.

Gutting 

The act of cutting a mindless’s abdomen open and smearing viscera over oneself to mask one’s scent.

Happy Birthday 

A trap consisting of fishing line and explosives. The explosives are detonated when the fishing line is broken. Alternatively can be paired with a number of years to describe how many kills this trap attained in one explosion (e.g. 3 year birthday - Happy Birthday trap with 3 kills.)

Keeshan Shit

The kind of bravado that undermines survival and practicality. Named after legendary war veteran of the First, Second, and Third Wars, John J. Keeshan. Alternatively “Going Keeshan” means disregarding all safety in favor of flashiness.

Leviathan 

A massive plant creature whose mouth can easily swallow a small village. Found deeper in the Aldmarsh. It lures prey through vocal mimicry and its bulb camouflaged as a sapling with delicious fruit. Disturbing the bulb alerts the Leviathan, who then erupts from the ground and swallows any caught in its jaws.

Masking 

Firing one’s gun during a loud sound such as thunder to hide one’s firing location.

Mimic 

The act of copying something’s voice or sound or a plant who can mimic the voices of another creature to lure in prey.

Mindless 

Humanoid undead animated by the necromantic magic of the marsh.

Oasis 

Any body of water found in the Aldmarsh which is safe to drink from without prior purification.

Orgrimmar Log (or Orgrilog)

A trap consisting of a spiked log and fishing line. When the fishing line is broken, the log swings down and impales the victim. Named after Orgrimmar’s spiked architecture.

Scrambling 

See Braining.

Shambling 

The act of disguising oneself as a mindless and moving amongst a herd.

Spitter 

A plant which can fire razor-sharp projectiles which embed into the victim and release a toxin, causing the victim to become another spitter.

Stormwind Special 

A tree with spear-like branches jutting out from it. One can impale oneself on the branches if they are careless with their movement. Named after the Stormwind Knight spear infantry.

Swampfoot 

A condition which occurs when one wades through water with dry ground in between. The soles of the feet become white, wrinkled, and tender. Walking becomes extremely painful. Can be treated by letting the skin dry.

Squidding 

The act of submerging oneself in a pool of water to avoid detection.

Toe Popper 

A trap consisting of a primed bullet. When pressure is applied to the trap, the bullet fires into the victim’s foot.

Trapjaws 

A plant who spreads its tendrils and leaves out and lies in wait. Disturbing its limbs causes the Trapjaws to burst from the ground and devour its victim.
