The legend of the Indian cricket team, Sunil Gavaskar, couldn't keep calm after Siraj took the wicket of Travis Head after a fiery staredown.
Both Virat Kohli and Sunil Gavaskar were quite happy after Mohammed Siraj took the wicket of Aaron Finch in the first ODI against Australia. After Hardik Pandya won the toss, he decided to bowl first. Siraj had a stare-down with Head after the Australia opener cracked the 4th ball of the over through the covers for a boundary, but the Indian fast bowler and the dead man ended up having the last laugh as Head walked down the wicket but played on for 5 off 10 balls. Siraj brought out the "SIUUU" in Kohli from slips, and Gavaskar and Kumble both were quite impressed with the way Siraj took the wicket of Travis Head. Read More...

"Garden Mein Ghoomne Wala": Sunil Gavaskar Blasts Lakshya Sen's Olympics 2024 Meltdown
The Paris Olympics 2024 has been a bittersweet experience for the Indian sports fans. After the high of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, where India returned with a record seven medals, the expectation was that at the Paris Olympics, the haul would be bigger. However, following a string of narrow misses and some unlucky incidents (like the Vinesh Phogat disqualification), India won six medals. Badminton was one sport where India has fared well in the last three editions.
Starting from the 2012 Olympics, Indian badminton stars have returned with at least one medal. However, this time there were no medals. The star duo of Satwik Sairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty could not enter the semi-finals. Singles player Lakshya Sen became the first Indian male shuttler to enter the Olympic semi-final but lost crucial matches despite being in a strong situation.
Amid such displays, badminton legend Prakash Padukone said that It was time for the badminton stars to bring home good results as there was enough support from the government and other stakeholders.
The comment was criticised by many. Former Indian cricket team captain Sunil Gavaskar, however, has supported Prakash Padukone and critisiced Lakshya Sen's mental block.
"As far back as 2017/18, Prakash, who I unfortunately meet rarely, had told me about this kid, Lakshya Sen. He had taken him under his wing and was his guide and mentor. He would have watched Lakshya's progress step by step. As he came to the cusp of an Olympic medal, Prakash was by the courtside along with the hard-working and indefatigable Vimal Kumar to see the fulfillment of not just Lakshya's dream but also that of the entire community of Indian badminton lovers," Gavaskar wrote in a column for Sportstar.
"To then see a 20-17 and 7-0 lead being squandered off in the semifinal (vs Viktor Axelsen) and then lose the bronze medal match (vs Lee Zee Jia) after winning the first game comfortably must have been gut-wrenching indeed. He, Vimal Kumar, the BAI, and the government's TOPS had done everything possible, but when it came to the crunch, Lakshya was, in the famous words of the Indian cricket team captain (Rohit Sharma), 'garden mein ghoomne wala.'"
Gavsakar felt that Lakshya had lost his "thought and concentration".
"For those who watched both the semifinal and the bronze medal matches, it did appear that Lakshya had lost his trend of thought and concentration in the way he looked at his racquet as he sipped from his water bottle in between points or at the changeovers," Gavaskar wrote.
"I could be completely wrong, but on TV, it looked like a blank expression, and that's usually a sign that the mind has wandered. Concentration and focus are things that no coach or trainer can ever teach. It can be developed over the years by the athlete by observing other champions and having an inner resolve, but there's no specific program for it. Yes, mind trainers are around, but they can only do so much and not more. It's got to be within the athlete."

AB de Villiers' Candid Advice Amid Kohli-Gavaskar Controversy: 'Don't Say A Word'
Virat Kohli of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) faced significant criticism for his performance during the first half of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season. With RCB losing 7 of their first 8 games, Kohli’s strike rate became a major talking point. Even cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar criticized Kohli for his perceived lack of intent, prompting a response from the RCB star. Now, AB de Villiers has weighed in, expressing his dismay at the harsh criticism aimed at Kohli.
During a conversation on Jio Cinema, De Villiers shared his thoughts on the situation, recalling his own experiences of playing with and against Kohli. He emphasized that criticism often brings out the best in Kohli and advised teammates to avoid provoking him.
“I thought it was really unfair for a hero and role model like Virat to face so much criticism. But knowing him, I was certain that criticism would only fuel his determination. I used to tell my teammates, ‘do not say a word to Virat on the pitch,’ because if you do, he will respond with a big century,” De Villiers told Hindustan Times.
“Perhaps the criticism was a blessing in disguise, as it motivates him greatly,” he added.
Discussing Kohli’s role in the T20 World Cup, De Villiers countered the popular opinion, suggesting that Kohli should not open the innings with Rohit Sharma but should remain at the №3 spot.
“I believe Virat is most impactful at number three. He acts like the captain of the batting unit, maintaining calm and composure. Though Virat enjoys opening, I feel it’s risky to ask him to take on the game in the early overs. I prefer him to bat between overs 4 and 16–17, where he is unmatched,” the former South African captain stated.
De Villiers concluded by saying, “In my ideal team, he would bat at number three. His experience and understanding of the game make him most effective in that position.”

KL Rahul reacts midway as he is stunned by Gavaskar's 'top 10 century in Indian history' shoutout
Earning praise from the legendary Sunil Gavaskar remains the ultimate dream for every cricketer, and on Wednesday it was KL Rahul's turn to tick it off his bucket list. Sure enough, this wasn't the first time Rahul received a compliment from the former captain of Team India, but the magnitude of Gavaskar's praise will sure make it special. Rahul scored his 8th Test century, which is arguably the greatest of his career, as his knock of 101 propelled India to 245 against South Africa at the SuperSport Park in Centurion.
As expected, Rahul was showered with praise, but Gavaskar's took the cake. Gavaskar said during the commentary, "I've been watching cricket for the last 50 years, but I can surely say that this century by Rahul is in the Top 10 centuries scored by Indians in Test cricket.” After stumps, during the post-day press conference, Rahul was asked about his reaction to this once-in-a-lifetime compliment by Sunny G. The reporter asked, "As Mr. Gavaskar said, this is probably one of the 10 best Tests by any batter in any condition for India." but before he could finish his sentence, an excited KL Rahul let out an exclamatory "WOW" before elaborating his point of view.
KL said, "Firstly, I'm very humbled that he's made that comment. It's a pretty huge compliment to get. Batting in the middle order, what I've realized is that you can't really plan your innings all that much when you walk in. There is a situation in front of you. The game tells you how you need to play and what you need to do at that time and in that moment.”

Sunil Gavaskar: Warm-up matches would have given first-timers to Australia better chance to succeed
Australia looks like a huge mountain to climb after the Indian team stumbled terribly on a speed bump called New Zealand. Nobody, not even the Kiwis themselves, would have thought of a clean sweep against India, and that too in India. It has happened thanks to the short-gain policy of preparing pitches for our spinners when just about everybody in the cricketing world agrees that we have the best…

You know what..I am gonna say it
I don't know how everytime Ishan makes it to the trending page on Twitter, some negative PR pops up.
Also people who are saying that him training with Hardik Pandya is ass licking. Then where are these people when Surya and Bumrah show support to Rohit. Surya's love for Rohit is considered loyalty but Ishan's love for Hardik would be considered ass licking. Such hypocrites.
Also Ishan had made it clear very early on that the Hardik took him under his wing pretty early on. So it is rather Ishan is very loyal to Hardik despite Hardik getting so much hate. Also people saying Ishan should spend more time with Rohit instead of Pandya speaks so much about the obvious favouritism in Indian Cricket Team.
Also I want to just say, I personally consider IPL as a cricket fest. Players come together to enjoy cricket for once and here our Indian team is fighting like cats and dogs for a mere IPL team captaincy. I mean Rohit should understand he is the captain of the Indian Team and this childishness of following-unfollowing is just kind of pointless. I never see Virat doing so. And I AM A ROHIT SHARMA FAN TOO. He was the reason I am part of MI Paltan.
Calling Hardik Pandya 'chappri' and 'disloyal' and what not for franchise cricket when he has given a lot to the National Team is so toxic of the fans. Why do we forget that before IPL...WE ARE THE INDIAN NATIONAL TEAM.
Pulling in a youngster, a 25 year old in this fight is almost like pulling in Abhimanyu in the Chakravyuh and ruthlessly killing him. That kid has always been humble and never failed to praise Rohit's captaincy. But now when he chose to train with his family in cricket...He is being brashly hated for it. That kid has performed whenever he got a chance yet he is being played around like a toy. Even Sunil Gavaskar considers him a "a rare talent".
WHY ARE WE LETTING AN IPL CAPTAINCY BREAK DOWN ICT WHICH IS LIKE A FAMILY. THIS TOXIC INDIVIDUAL PLAYER SUPPORTING FANDOM HAS BEVER BROUGHT GOOD TO THE GAME.
So I think Ishan is absolutely right for training with Hardik because he never wanted this war and he never wanted to pick sides. He is being caught in the crossfire and people telling him to side Rohit for a place in team actually speak a lot about favouritism.
THAT WAS ALL FROM MY SIDE AND THIS IS JUST MY PERSONAL OPINION. PEACE OUT✌️
Hoping Ishan come back stronger than ever and God is with him🧿🧿🧿🔱🔱🔱

Sunil Gavaskar Predicts One-Sided RCB vs RR IPL Eliminator, Says This Team "Will Walk All Over"
In a high-stakes IPL 2024 Eliminator match today, Rajasthan Royals (RR) will face Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Ahmedabad. The winner will advance to face SunRisers Hyderabad in Qualifier 2 on Friday, while the loser will be knocked out of the tournament. Despite being strong contenders a few weeks ago, the Rajasthan Royals now find themselves as underdogs, having lost four consecutive matches and having one game abandoned due to rain. In contrast, RCB has built significant momentum with six straight wins, making them a formidable opponent in the playoffs.
Rajasthan Royals, the 2008 IPL champions, have struggled recently, with weaknesses in both their batting and bowling becoming apparent. The absence of Jos Buttler has significantly weakened their batting lineup, putting additional pressure on Yashasvi Jaiswal (348 runs), skipper Sanju Samson (504), and Riyan Parag (531) to deliver a strong performance.
Former Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar anticipates a potentially one-sided match. Speaking on Star Sports, Gavaskar praised RCB’s remarkable comeback, highlighting the leadership of Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli as crucial to their success.
“What RCB has done is nothing short of phenomenal. Firstly, to believe that they can bounce back requires something special. You have to say that their leading players, Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli, have been key in encouraging the other players. Their extraordinary cricket has been crucial,” Gavaskar remarked.
Gavaskar expressed concerns about Rajasthan Royals’ recent form and lack of practice, drawing a parallel to Kolkata Knight Riders’ recent struggle after a long break. “Rajasthan has lost four-five matches and has not played their last game. They have been out of practice. Unless they do something special, like what KKR did yesterday despite not playing for 11 days, it could well turn out to be another one-sided game today. My fear is it will be another one-sided game where RCB will walk all over RR. I will be surprised if that does not happen,” he added.
