#Summer SPOPtacular

After years of trying to write this into a fic, I decided to just be unconventional and do it like this for the Summer SPOPtacular prompt: Roasting Marshmallows

Bow's marshmallow is perfectly toasted because he patiently rotated it for a nice even browning 

Catra's is on fire on purpose because she loves the instant gratification and contrast of char and sweet

Adora's is on fire accidentally because she tried to prove that she could make a perfectly toasted one much faster and efficiently than Bow could and tragedy ensued 

Glimmer's marshmallow no longer resembles a marshmallow or even food because she tried to use magic out of impatient competitive spite and it went horribly wrong 

Then I got bored of drawing hands but here are some more as supplied by the local children of my acquaintance... 

Mermista is roasting de-hydrated cereal marshmallows she has re-hydrated just to flex

Sea Hawk is at the hospital because he set his marshmallow on fire and then ate it that way 

Entrapta is just eating handfuls of mini marshmallows and encouraging the others to experiment so she can note the results (see: Sea Hawk)

Hordak isn't interested in eating marshmallows, but is taking particular joy in finding optimal sticks for the others to use 

Perfuma is using the fire to make everyone a soothing pot of althaea officinalis (Marshmallow) Root Tea because she doesn't approve of the corn syrup in artificial marshmallows

Scorpia is happily scarfing down the homemade, corn syrup free marshmallows Perfuma made that are suspiciously pre-burnt (but she doesn't mind)

Forsta tried freezing her marshmallows and nearly cracked a tooth when she bit into one

Lonnie keeps trying to get the perfect roast and getting impatient and just eating them raw

Kyle's marshmallow ended up in the coals 

Rogelio's marshmallow is a hot dog 

Huntara's marshmallow is a horrifying giant bug thing she killed that has Micah salivating with envy 

Wrong Hordak is roasting Peeps (no one knows where he even got them from)

SPOP Creative Flex Summer SPOPtacular | prompt: Mermaid

The nascent Princess Alliance is off to Salineas to recruit Princess Mermista, fight the Horde, and save the world - in that order. Catra and Adora start to face some of what their upbringing has made them, and reforge their bond stronger and healthier. But when Catra figures out who a certain mermaid following them really is, she finds herself having to play diplomat and find out if the Alliance is doomed before it begins, and if Glimmer is right about what can save Etheria.

I'm going to hit all the prompts with this series, and all of them will have red creme fizz (red cream soda!) in them. For better or for worse! This is the second story in the series and the first of the series actually filling a prompt!

After a long day out at the ski lodge where they work at, Castaspella and Shadow Weaver are finally finishing their shift. It’s probably their favourite time of the day since neither has to speak, only tidy everything up and leave without so much as a “goodbye”. Yet, this time… they find themselves stuck. As a snowstorm rages on, the women are forced to spend the night at the lodge, perhaps longer, meaning they’ll have to interact. It will be quite awkward sometimes, funny, intense, and they might learn more about the other than expected… but perhaps it’s not a bad thing after all…

» —You are… » —Perfectly well aware that I should eat dinner now, not this— Shadow Weaver interrupted. —But that won’t stop me, because I don’t care— she concluded, opening the chocolate bar.

The SPOP Creative Flex is doing a Summer SPOPtacular, and this weeks theme was mermaids/pirates. I had a couple of ideas for what I wanted to do but eventually settled on doing a Seamista Little Mermaid AU! This is actually my first time creating content with this couple at the center, and I’m pleased with how it turned out! More importantly, I’m pleased that I didn’t give up and kept working at it even when I felt like I wasn’t good enough, because the only way to get better at something is to practice!

Season 5 except instead of going to rescue Glimmer and Catra from Prime's spaceship, vacationers Bow and Adora launch a scheme to rescue two captive mermaids from Prime's exotic aquarium.

Shamelessly combined the Summer SPOPtacular prompt High Seas Adventure with this month's Discord redraw challenge (which was to redraw the frame below without space).

In my Role Swap AU where Glimmer was raised in the Horde (The Dark Princess), she can summon wings of smoke using dark magic.

For the Retro Fashion prompt for the Summer SPOPtactular, I had it in my head to do Glimmer in a vintage bathing suit pin-up style and then decided to do Bow too, for equality.

I'm not really happy with this drawing, but we're almost out of MerMay and I wanted to get this up while I was thinking about it. Plus we're running a Summer SPOPtacular event in the Flex server and I wanted to post this for the Mermaids and Pirates prompt for this week at the same time.

(I was drawing Sea Hawk too for this AU, but I couldn't make his body proportions make sense so I gave up on him)

Mermaid Assassin Mermista

I've been thinking about this Seamista AU where Sea Hawk is a mermaid hunter, capturing them for the highest bidder. He's unnaturally good at this because, he doesn't realize he's basically a reverse siren and his singing attracts mermaid. He's responsible for hundreds of mermaids in captivity or worse. When he discovers his unfair advantage, he's horrified and guilty and wants to stop, but gets basically trapped into one last deal to settle his debts.

Meanwhile the mermaid council have decided they need to take this guy out and they send Mermista, their fiercest assassin. She figures this clown will be incredibly easy eliminate and she can finally prove herself to her father, the king, but, turns out, Sea Hawk is surprisingly competent when he needs to be. And meanwhile Sea Hawk realizes who she is and that the daughter of the mermaid King would more than settle his debts if he can capture her. 

So they cat and mouse around each other, both hunting the other and of course they develop begrudging respect for each other's skills and start to like each other despite it all etc etc you know how romance stories work.
