Summary of art!!!

I'm happy to see how my art is slowly getting better each year. This one was pretty harsh but also productive. At the end of the year, as I finished the last exams in university (there's only final project left, which will be in may) I'm kinda tired of everything. I don't have much energy even after the month of rest. I WANT to draw, I have tons of ideas, but I'm really not in the mood to do something big, something that will take more than 2-3 hours to make. And that's okay I think, I'll continue drawing as much as I want and what I want, not pushing myself too much. Waiting until I'm fully rested again and ready to create some bangers using everything I've learned from these 6 years. Lol.

soon i will join the world in the new year 🎉 2024 was even harder for me than 2023 in terms of art + energy--the creativity and the desire were both there, but it's not really enough, you know?

anyways i did end up being happier with what I cobbled together for this summary than i though i would. and that's worth celebrating, i think.

The Joost Klein Incident. The Dutch contestant, Joost Klein, has been disqualified by EBU, hours before Eurovision 2024's Grand Final, after Swedish police investigated 'backstage incident' in which the artist had allegedly made 'unlawful threats' against a female production team member. This last-minute disqualification is unprecedented in Eurovision's 68 year long history. And has occurred in the midst of the controversy surrounding Israel's participation in Eurovision after qualifying into Grand Final under the shadow of the ongoing Israel-Hamas War. Despite EBU statements that this incident did not involve any other artists or delegations, rumours have been speculating that this may be connected to Israel delegates. Joost Klein's entry, Europapa is one of the favourites to win the 2024 Contest and their sudden disqualification has caused outrage among fans, the Dutch delegation and other participating nations.

UPDATE: The Dutch broadcaster, AVROTROS has released statement explaining the incident between Joost Klein and a female camera operator. An agreement had been made prior to his Semi-Final 2 appearance to not film Joost Klein after his performance. This was not respected. After asking repeatedly to not film him, Joost Klein made 'threatening movement' towards the female camera operator but did not touch her. This then led to EBU disqualifying him. AVROTROS finds the penalty very heavy and disproportionate. The investigation is still ongoing.

not exactly a year of great variety but whatever! i was feeling really rusty on the first half but then started rapid firing doodles in october-december so now i'm in a better place for 2025. hopefully. i mean it's already looking better than last year when i didn't even do a summary because i drew so little

But yeah ofc the 2024 art summary couldn't be left behind! Here's the other year summaries as well, minus 2021 cuz I zidnt make one then oop-

Although the year's not ending great for me, I'm dealing w a massive power outage as I'm typing this, I am happy to see that my art's been improving; a slow but steady progress, after all if I rush it it wouldn't do it or me any good

I've mayor n minor art resolutions for this upcoming year, both ways to potentially improve further; I've actually started some round August so we'll see how things go overall (FOR THE BETTER P L Z, I B E G !)

the big sum-up of 2024...2024 has been a lot! mostly good, some really bad, but otherwise im happy to make it through another year :^] past summaries and some more detailed thoughts below:

so 2024's been a really busy year for me - my first full year as a freelancer! started boothing at the behest of one of my good friends in march, and it was really fun! its been so wonderful being able to share my work with people, especially my comics. im really grateful in a way i cant encapsulate for the support ive had both online and offline for my work, and i can only hope it shows in the final products!

i don't like to get particularly personal on my socmed anymore, but ill admit the later half of the year has been hard. i wont get into it (its nothing serious!) , but im hoping ill have a lot less breakdowns next year :'^] and more importantly I WANT TO KEEP CREATING!! i have a few comic ideas im hoping to pursue this year, some fan projects and more original things!! yeah. here's to 2025 baybee
