~Şivekar Sultan~
The Storytellers told Ibrahim I that the bigger and fatter the woman, the sweeter the lovemaking would be. One day while traveling in Üsküdar, the sultan was inspired by the corpulent women he saw. He then ordered to find the fattest beauty in Istanbul. The courtiers searched and searched and finally found a Armenian woman who weight 150 kg. She entered Ibrahim’s harem, was named Şivekar and became the seventh Haseki Sultan. Ibrahim could not live without her for a while. It seems that Şivekar did not have any children.Compared to other Ibrahim’s consorts, Şivekar was the one who had influence during her Hasekiship. In a letter to the grand vizier, she requested that Hasan, one of the axe – masters be assigned to a certain position. Upon Ibrahim’s dethronement, Şivekar was sent to the Old Palace. She lived the longest among Ibrahim’s consorts. She passed away in 1693.

The show is kinda vague about it but I can assume that despite being born before his sultanate, Ibrahim's son Osman with Zarife is entitled to the title of Şehzade, right?
The son he is based on had the title according to wikipedia. However, we all know how reliable wikipedia can be on non-English and especially non-Western historical articles. So if anyone knows anything about this I would greatly appreciate it. Does Peirce maybe have something in her book on this?

Both Nigar and Ibrahim decide to help Hürrem in Episode 1 after finding a commonality with her (Nigar had a Ruthenian grandmother, Ibrahim was Orthodox).

Turhan Sultan, I will never forgive the producers for only giving you 4 episodes, but that didn't stop me from making you one of my favourites... u served hard, with limited time u had and Ibrahim never deserved you.

Literally the only Sultana that was smart enough to care about herself and her son first and not the sultans love.

I've only watched excerpts of this series & read spoilers (+ read about the real historical figures/watched documentaries). I love Turhan (who appears in the Kösem series), & I think she is a "successful" Mahidevran (also the sultan's forgotten concubine, I think she even had it worse in that she was his 1st, unlike Mahidevran who was preceded by others, & Ibrahim literally preferred his stepson, some other concubine's son who wasn't his, over their shared son whom he chucked in the pool to make his point clear).
Just thinking how Hürrem was given freedom by Suleiman, which literally did not mean a change in her life other than prestige brought by marriage - she continued to be mentally dependent on him and got absorbed into the system even more… Suleiman’s rejection of Mahidevran, which also contributed to him refusing her freedom (yes she never stood a chance because he never loved her and his favoritism was what decided fates in that system in the end), actually freed her in the long run mentally and emotionally. It was the moment she decided to give up on him and slowly walked towards her full mental independence. And while she still had to obey certain rules imposed by the system due to her having her prince, upon his death, she stopped giving shit and finally voiced all the anger about Suleiman and the system. She lost all the “golden cage”, but she gained freedom from constraints of mind and emotion that the system put on individuals. She was free to get most reflection about the system & form critique of it without being an active part of it any longer. A sad freedom but the truest one any of these women got.

they conveyed a lot by having ibrahim respond "i know, atike" when she tells him "i'll always be with you" as opposed to his strained silence when kosem tells him the same

I love Hatice and Ibrahim's first wedding night. Excitement radiating out of both of them (Ibrahim is more openly excited for once, while Hatice is more restrained, flipping their previous dynamic on its head), Ibrahim letting her veil out so gently almost as not to hurt her and enjoy the moment to the fullest, Hatice longingly staring at him, seeking his touch as a part of her still can't believe that this is even happening, but it is, so she lets her excitement visibly rise too as Ibrahim draws back her hair and takes her jewel off, both of them still processing, facing what has just transpired after so much struggle and separation, that they're already "in heaven", that this is not a dream but a reality, both of them accepting at the same time that they're actually here, in this castle, together, finally giving in, drawing their lips closer more slowly but then more confidently and Ibrahim unbuttoning Hatice and all the rest, and fully embracing this single moment that caps off with the meaningful symbolic gifts both have given to the other - the butterfly and the handkerchief standing there, together (with that vial in the distance opposite to the gifts as well, signifying both the ended struggles and the new ones in store for this new status quo). And all of this is portrayed without a single word of dialogue. This indeed is their first night. And what's more, it is Hatice's first night, even though she has been married before. Now it is a wanted night in a wanted marriage that only gives her hope and life and drives her to actually believe in the unattainable from this point forward, hence the whole sensation is so novel and raw and pure.
{And right before we also have Gülfem getting the gratitude and acknowledgement she deserves as a bonus, along with the future omen of Ibrahim not fully delivering on his promise to Gülfem in the future, yet the first night coming next remains untainted even so. Honestly, what more could you want?}
