@seksilelulaatikko tagged me to list five song I've been listening to on repeat recently. The problem is, I almost never listen to individual songs on repeat. But what I do... do.... is listen to entire albums or even sometimes an artist's entire back catalogue on repeat. So here's some of those I have been getting into a lot in the past months:
1. Suistamon sähkö - pretty much their entire output, but the first (self-titeled) album in particular. Turns out the combination of eastern Finnish/Karelian traditional folk music and electronic sounds is enough to make me like rapping, one of the things in music I have generally loathed. But apart from the rap bit it's just very me. Electronic stuff, musique concrete touches, drawing from folk music and with lyrics alternating between the nonsense of listing every single house in the Suistamo village to biting critique of capitalism... yeah.
2. Talk Talk - The Colour of Spring. Happiness is easy. But it's nice to be reminded of that sometimes.
3. Can - Future Days. Can overall are a very hit and miss for me. Most of their albums have a mixture of gems and utter garbage, but Future Days is just pure gold from start to finish. Not your typical krautrock - not really rock at all - but oh so good. 4. Fripp & Eno - especially No Pussyfooting and Evening Star. More weird proggish stuff from the 70s, except this is more guitar noise ambient. The third album in the same vein (The Equatorial Stars) isn't nearly as good as the two 70s albums.
Hmm, not sure what else I could really put in here without going back to something that happened too long ago to count as "recently" or making me list "oh, then there's this six-hour-long Spotify playlist I tend to default to..."
I usually don't tag anyone in these kinds of things, but since this time there's actually some people whose music rotation does interest me so... @dragon-memes, @perkeleensimpura, @saeva-sava, @cannithebear, @mitamajr, show me what you've got!
