I wanna draw a piece so bad with Transmutate and Rampage on one side and Saru and Su’Kal on the other because Su’Kal and Transmutate have SUCH similar arcs it’s ridiculously amazing.

Some Thoughts on Disco
Let me preface this by saying that I have adored Star Trek Discovery since September 24, 2017.
I have not been this invested in a season of Discovery since season 2. That doesn’t mean I haven’t enjoyed the other seasons, but I haven’t connected with a season of Discovery since that seminal season like I have with the current and (lamentably, regrettably) final season.
I loved the 32nd century world building of season 3; meeting Gray and Adira; the wonderful Aditya Sahil and his long watch. But…I was less enamored with the Emerald Chain story, and while I found Su’kal’s trauma poignant and heartbreaking, I really didn’t connect with the Burn as a season-long mystery box.
I was also really rankled by season 4’s constant questioning and undermining of Burnham’s place in the center seat. I liked the 10-C, and again, appreciated Tarka and Book’s traumas, but I was left cold by the mystery box once more.
This season? GIVE ME MORE DS9 DEEP CUTS. GIVE ME MORE MOLL AND (sadly RIP) L’AK. GIVE ME MORE PROGENITORS LORE. INJECT IT DIRECTLY INTO MY CAROTID.

This Is Star Trek!
Beware spoilers!!!
I have been squealing for the past ten minutes! This is the Star Trek I have been waiting for !
Finally a black woman got to be lead, make agonizing decisions, put herself in harm’s way persistently to save everyone and the Michael Burnham is made captain!
This , this episode was epic!! After what went down yesterday (you all know what I’m talking about , the Event in the Usa) I’m so happy watching this finale. Michael, Booker, Owo, Tilly, Detmer, Bryce, Hugh, Adira, Saru, Admiral Vance, Stamets, The Awesome Sphere Data! You all made this finale a fantastic story. (Game of thrones idiotic screen writers take note!) now ever other show out there. This is how you bloody well doo a fantastic finale!

also on the topic of su’kal
(so beware spoilers)
I actually find it really funny?? like it felt all dramatic and sci-fi but then I thought about it as a child throwing a temper tantrum and somehow exploding all dilithium across the universe and like
I haven’t watched much tos but from what I’ve seen of it su’kal feels star trek? all it needs is some quoting of shakespeare

So... what is it like being in an Emerald Chain mind control harness? I’m having a lot of Feelings (tm) right now so have some early fic exploration of the possibilities.
Paul opened his eyes. He was standing in an empty room, but he couldn’t remember how he got there. He was standing in the center of a space that seemed to stretch on for miles — he couldn’t see any walls, and the lighting (or lack thereof) wasn’t really helping. All around him was a kind of grey murkiness punctuated by unknown overhead lighting sources spaced just slightly too far apart, the grey eventually spreading to black in the distance. He tapped his combadge.
“Stamets to Engineering. Lieutenant Molina, please respond.”
No answering chirp or voice, no static, just… nothing. He swallowed hard and tapped his badge once more. “Commander Reno?”
The silence was all-consuming. A whooshing noise started up in his head as his ears began pounding, pulsing with his heartbeat. He slowly turned around in place, hands clenching and unclenching in fists. His voice cracked.
“...Someone? Please?” Then, barely above a whimper. “...Hugh?”
The only response was his own echo.

What a ride! The third season of Star Trek: Discovery was easily its most consistent and, dare I say, best yet? From the get-go, the series’ decision to vault its characters into the far future for its third outing proved itself a smart one, as the crew of the Discovery set about exploring this strange, new reality..

Okay, I am just going to say it, but -
SARU DESERVED THE LAST “ENGAGE” LINE AT THE END
HE WAS WORKING SO HARD ON HIS OWN SPECIAL LINE
THAT WAS GOING TO BE HIS CAPTAIN MOMENT - I WAS WAITING FOR THAT MOMENT
*ahem*
Okay. You may carry on.
