I'm probably reading too much into this. But Kato and I are the same age. It's amazing how blatant sexuality was such a thing in the early 2000s, you had to be fuckable to by worthy. But once you hit your 40s, you don't give a rats ass about that crap, and you feel like a total fool for buying into it. I've noticed Shura's been steadily dressed well in later chapters...

Created at Luv Letter Studios, an American indie studio that has done projects for Mappa, Netflix, Studio VOLN, and plenty of others, we are currently attempting to make our own series!

Blue Exorcist season 1 ☕️

Best Mephisto outfit ☕️

Hello anon! You know, I do like season 1. It’s not my favorite and I prefer Studio VOLN’s art style (for the most part), but it’s still good. It’s a bit slow paced and can feel like not much is happening… but, it goes over a lot of set up for later events so I can’t fault it. Though, a lot of iconic Mephisto moments do happen, like him floating around in his weird chair while watching Amaimon pulverize Rin during the little camping trip.

I wanna say he looks very regal as he smirks down on those below with that fancy teacup in hand, but, he’s in his clown suit, so… I will refrain from commenting on that. 😔 Those treats look amazing though and I’m jealous that he has a dessert stand

Also this moment when he’s on trial is so funny. “Yeah I smuggled the son of Satan and had him raised by the previous Paladin, it’s all a part of my sneaky and maybe sinister plan, you’re gonna have to keep guessing tho” all while he’s striking fruity poses and wagging his finger. So proud and upbeat just to flex on the Grigori. What a wonderful man 💜

As for the best Mephisto outfit, I’m always a slut for him in a yukata so this one:

He looks so fabulous in dark colors and florals ?!?? I like all of his outfits, but I would love to see him in more outfits like this. The pink cover looks especially good, so that’s also my favorite volume cover. I *think* that’s the outfit he wears while speaking to Rin on the balcony during the Blue Night Arcs, so I hope we see it animated soon.

It's times like this I'm really frustrated that Blue Exorcist got kicked from A-1 Pictures to a low-rent studio like Voln. The eruption of demons into the human world should be this huge event that turns the entire show on its head, but the production just can't sell how terrifying and awe-inspiring this event is supposed to be. A few mostly still frames and smear effects are not enough to convey the magnitude of this turning point in the story!

I actually much prefer a lot of how studio VOLN is handling Blue Exorcist over A-1, I know not a popular opinion in areas and get the places people say looks off but the vibes and heart is so good? also there is a lot of amazing shots and imo calling Rin "ugly" in it is an exaggeration to me, there's some wonky shots but there's also SO MANY he looks great! I think sometimes people forget that A-1 had equally bad shots and design choices like I think a lot are looking at the older seasons through rose colored glasses personally! not to mention they ruined a lot of scenes and how they changed them/adjusted them in their adaption that to me affected characterization and making some of the cast look almost dumb in a situation the manga version shows was more serious and dire!

ultimately my view has been: I'd rather an adaption feel like the heart is in the right place and the characters feel like themselves vs everything being pretty all the time and would rather deal with a few wonky shots of characters over a bad representation of a story and characters I love! visuals are not the only thing that matters to me ever

Excited about Blue Exorcist coming back? it looks like a really interesting show

Ah, yes, yes! Actually this blog was originally dedicated to Blue Exorcist heck, the blog's name and as you see - as soon as it returned my brainrot became unstoppable 🤣

I really recommend it, especially the manga. It's a rare case for shounen when you have more than two plot relevant characters, when the female charas are independent and represent different types of strength, when the team's chemistry feels realistic and entertaining to watch. Also the romance is really nice and well written! Bless Katou-sensei! Started reading her work when I was like- 14 yo and she never disappointed my expectations.

As you see, so far I really enjoy the anime adaptation by Studio Voln. They're doing great!
