sobbed so hard when i first read this, i can’t wait to see it animated.

I’d like to think this scene gave Rin some closure and eased some of the guilt he felt over his and father fujimoto’s fight right before his death. and i’d like to think that later on, while Rin was growing up, father fujimoto thought he looked quite similar to that white haired boy that once visited him— to where he realized wait, that may have actually been Rin from the future.

And maybe it’s delulu of me to think that this adds another layer to their relationship— that because of this interaction, father fujimoto knew exactly how Rin felt, despite what Rin may have said otherwise.

Inktober Day 7: Cold

I've been reading the manga a lot lately! I'm so hooked, even wishing for vol 27-29 for my birthday this year. (i just borrowed volume 27 from the library(bless the library guys, love the library), and ARGH IT'S A BANGER VOLUME.)

Yall are FUELING my Shima headcanons,,, I have been waiting for this since 2018 I swear

So we knew of Yamantaka since the Illuminati arc but haven’t really gotten any information since then about him. We know he’s based off the real legend of Yamantaka, the destroyer of death. How the shima “clan” got hold of a powerful familiar like him is unknown but we do know he can be passed from vessel to vessel within the clan itself. Like from takezou to renzou when takezou died during the blue night. We know that he gives shima strength and protects him when he wants to. We know that black flames are only second to blue flames and that black flames can only harm the individuals souls not their physical body and that the intensity can be changed from killing someone to just knocking them out. We know his main attack is the flame tipped spear and finally we know Yamantaka has a penchant for fighting while shima is the opposite.

In this recent chapter we got like 3 new attacks and a new “form” ish thing which could be argued was a fun take on his phobia of bugs which knocks him unconscious and turns him into a badass bit. Aka it could not mean anything. But it wouldn’t be a tumblr post if we didn’t fantasize for a minute.

I think someone else said it too where shimas possession seemed weird and that he could’ve been possessed by a relative rather than Yamantaka. Now I don’t know shit about yamantaka or anything but as the destroyer of death I have to wonder what happens to his vessels souls when Yamantaka takes over their bodies. Would their souls be burned to a crisp from the flames same as his offensive attack or would those souls be captured as Yamantakas source of growing power. If we went down the relative path would it be delusional to argue that each soul Yamantaka has inhabited the body of, he’s also kept? Like how izumo’s familiar foxes can summon small and dozens of versions of little helpers in the Kyoto arc. Would Yamantaka be able to summon the souls of previous vessels to use as “helpers?” In this case was renzou really possessed by say takezou since he was the last to have Yamantaka before renzou took over? Like a switch out moment? Of course we have no evidence of this but it’s a fun theory! It’d be really cool to see all the previous vessels being summoned by renzou to help in the battle and as dead souls I can’t imagine any of them are happy.

Adding onto the possession theory, yamantaka is technically heralded as a familiar but renzou doesn’t summon him by blood or paper, literally just recites his summon script and he appears, unlike izumo or shiemi’s familiars who disappear or “can die.” Now obviously I can’t say every familiar is the same because they’re not but it’s an interesting difference. I assume Yamantaka would have a death verse like most other demons and if so wouldn’t it be a fun twist if say it’s well known to the shima clan or even just the vessels know it? From my own headcanon takezou didn’t die from the fall or the burn of the blue flame but instead let himself die by reciting the verse so he wouldn’t have to deal with Yamantaka anymore and passed it on instead to renzou.

I’m gonna stop rambling now but yeah what’d you think? (Should I release the rest of my shima head canons into the wild?)

So Meph, the King of Time and Space, loves magic tricks but usually fails at them which is so funny and cute. Like the one thing that comes naturally to him he has trouble doing by human means. But when he DOES succeed in magic tricks everyone thinks he cheated using his powers LMAO! Shiro’s disbelief and Meph’s angry face are just so amazing 🤣 💖 I love fun lore like this
